I recently obtained the Bose Alto Frames for testing. This is a first of it's kind so I took my time to really see what these frames are made of. As this is a Bose product, I'd like to talk about the sound and speakers of this product. As one would expect with Bose, the sound is clear and distinguishable and the quality is as expected from a company such as Bose. For the most part, individuals near you can't really hear the music unless you have them blasting to the limits. The sound feels very close as one would expect with the speaker being right at your ears. Although they sound good, the one thing that is missing a bit is the bass!!! These fames don't have very much bass at all.If you are listening to a genre of music or a particular song that is bass heavy then may be able to get just a bit from the speakers on these frames. They sound the best with lighter bass having genres like classical music or jazz. I was able to take a phone call on these frames. The person on the other end was able to hear me quite well and I was able to hear them with no issues, even out in a sound filled environment, I had no problem communicating with the person on the other end. What I found to be handy with these frames is that they turn off automatically when laid down, so this helps with battery life as these frames don't have a long battery life. I've obtained about 3 hours of use on average. These frames can stay charged for a good amount of time of non-use as well. The alto frame itself is actually a pretty roomy fit as well. I have a wider round face type and usually have a slightly tougher time find sunglasses that fit me well. Now I'd like to talk about the frames as function vs sound. The lenses are not polarized but are pretty good when I used them while driving and walking around town on sunny days. These frames aren't the lightest but the little weight that you do feel is not uncomfortable or overwhelming. These frames offer a multi-function of life-style usage. If you are into music and you like to take it with you on the go, these frames can do it discreetly and offer your eyes protection from the sun all at the same time. You may run the risk of looking a bit crazy when listening to music and others around you can't hear it and all they see is sunglasses, lol. I think Bose has touched a space in the consumer market they may see a rise demand. This particular frame is nice and serves a purpose but as I am a little more particular about sound, I think waiting for the next generation of this product will be more worth it as Bose perfects it's sound in sunglass frames. This product to me is a niche product. It's for a person who has to have the latest and greatest and is willing to pay the price for the functionality that this product provides. Don't get me wrong, this product is great but is not a must have for me.

I was given the Bose Rondo frames to test and review last week. After the first week here is what I think so far.— After unpackaging these my first thought was-“ These look strange! I’m not sure I would wear these out of the house!”After wearing them awhile they don’t look so bad I guess and other people think they look pretty good so I guess maybe they aren’t as geeky looking as I thought.—They are fairly well built. The hinges seem hefty enough to last a few years and they fit well and even after a few hours they are very comfortable.—The optics. The lenses are extremely clear and have just the right amount of shading. The lenses are glass not plastic like a premium brand of sunglasses.Things look sharp and in focus but I don’t believe they are polarized, so pilots could use them if they wanted to.— for IOS you have to download the Bose sound app and after doing that it took a few attempts to pair them with my iPhone. After pairing though they connect immediately after turning them on. That’s very nice.— Now, the most important thing- the sound! How do they sound? The sound is good. Not great. They are missing a vital element. BASS! Imaging holding your current earbuds close to your ears. You hear the sound but it’s somewhat thin and without bass. That is how these sound. They sound is loud enough but you don’t hear much bass. If Bose could remedy that somehow they would get maybe 5 stars from me. Maybe they could use bone induction to enhance the bass. To me, music isn’t music without at least some bass.— Are they practical? Most of us have good sounding earbuds or headphones already and our favorite pair of sunglasses. Why do we need sound integrated sunglasses? I can see where they might come in handy on the beach or on the golf course so they seem like a specialty item instead of a “must have” item. In fact I was surprised that Bose would take this idea to production. They would appeal to only a small share of the market because of the price and practicality. If they are going to make sunglasses they should also make sound integrated safety glasses in my opinion.—They are easy to charge and come with a strong magnetic charging plug that is easy to connect and doesn’t easily get knocked off. —Battery life is more than sufficient for a full day at the beach or gold course.— the only button on the frames is right where you would grab them to put them on or take them off. It seems like they would have put that on the side close the the ear hook instead of right in the way.— Bottom line. I probably would not buy these knowing what I now know about them. I don’t feel they are practical enough to spend that much money on but maybe some do. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Kudos to Bose for continuing to innovate, presenting people with new products that otherwise few would have the courage to conceptualize, moreover, bring to market. I bought the Alto frames upon their release and this is my impression.1. Packaging. They come in a nice faux leather face that will protect the lenses and the hardware well.2. Sunglasses. As for the sunglasses themselves, they feel light yet durable. They do not have the premium acrylic feel of high end sunglasses and are generally more comparable to regular entry level frames you would find at a drug store. That is not to say they are somehow bad, but if you're expecting high end luxury feel of the sunglasses, look elsewhere. This is headphones built into sunglasses. The gold hinge, while a nice touch, is only visible from inside and I guess this was an engineering solution to include the antenna. Some people complained about Bose logo not being visible enough, but I will say quite the opposite - the subtle branding is the strength, not weakness. Overall well designed to not look bulky or nerdy. As a plus, I will note that have a large head and require very large sunglasses with long temples, and I will say that Alto are some of the bigger frames you can find anywhere.3. Optics. Regular non-polarized grey tint. I am a fan of tan tint optics and I hope a tortoise shell/tan lens combo will be available in the future.4. Audio experience. They sound surprisingly well, although sound is somewhat tinny. Obviously, if you want bass, get over the ear headphones. Call quality is somewhat worse than Sound Sport as the microphone is obviously further away.5. Hardware. They include a single multi-function button that will turn them on, trigger Google Assistant, call handling, enable pause/play/next/previous for music. They are turned off by flipping them over which I though was rather innovative and clever. Battery life could be better.6. Software. The interface is your familiar but useful voice interface that you will find with other Bose Bluetooth products. Strangely, they came paired to "iPhone 2" and I assume this was a simple engineering/programming oversight. In conclusion, a great and interesting product, but not for everyone. You will not have amazing audio fidelity, but you will be able to hear both your music, calls, and surroundings all at once while in a simple yet usable package. This of this as Bose SoundWear, sunglasses edition ;)

I've been using these sunglasses for about two months now, and there are definitely some pros and cons. Overall, these are good sunglasses that definitely boast an innovative design and surprisingly crisp sound quality. These sunglasses have great sun protection, crisp sound quality (as I would expect from Bose), good battery life, and feel sturdy and well made, as is the protective case that comes with them. The style is pretty classic. All my friends wanted to try them out as soon as I got them, and everyone was really impressed by their features. Furthermore, this design looked good on most people, despite a wide range of face shapes and facial features. That being said,I definitely wish they came in a wider range of styles and colors. My main gripe about these sunglasses was that while they were comfortable to wear normally, the way they are designed doesn't lend itself to being pushed up on one's head (as if holding back hair) when they aren't in use. For most people, this may not be a problem, but as someone who walks between buildings everyday and frequently wears my sunglasses this way while inside, it ended up being uncomfortable and giving me a bit of a headache. I think these are amazing for outdoor activities, when I'd be wearing them normally for longer periods, particularly for backpacking trips, when any dual-tasking item is very welcomed! But for the day-to-day grind, I ended up preferring my normal sunglasses. When wearing them on my walk to/from work, they had great sound quality for both music and podcasts. However, if I was in a quiet environment, other people could definitely hear them. Conversely, if the surrounding environment was loud (i.e. a truck drives by or there's any nearby construction), it was difficult to hear them, even at maximum volume. I originally thought they worked via bone conduction, but learned after trying them out that it is actually a specially-designed personal speaker that still relies on air conduction. There are qualities I haven't tried out yet, such as guided tours using GPS navigation, etc., which I can see these being ideal for when traveling. They are well-designed and overall a great product, I just think your day-to-day life really influences how much use you'll realistically get out of them.

m not a fan of Over-Ear Headphones and always catching the wires of my earbuds the idea of having a sound system built into a pair of stylish sunglasses was too much of a temptation. When I initially got them the British summer conspired to thwart my fun so to get my moneys worth I took the lenses out and wore them like that patiently waiting for some sun, would be good if Bose offered some clear lenses so you can make the most of the glasses. The Bose Frames look and feel really nice, I have a larger sized head and finding comfortable glasses can be an issue but I have to say I could wear these all day. Setting up the Frames with the App was really easy and I like the simple instructions Bose supply,I’m not a great one for ploughing though mountains information so they get my gratitude for that. The sound is directed into your ears via speakers on the arms, this is audible to people around you, I was concerned about that but I had someone else wear them, it is reasonably quiet and not irritating as you can hear the whole of the music which in noisier environments seems almost to disappear into the background. The quality of the sound is good as you would expect from Bose but a little on the quiet side even approaching full volume, this is where your sticking out ears pays off in a big way. If you bend your ears slightly forward the sound increases by a lot and if you cup your hands over your ears (I have a lot of spare time) the volume increase is incredible and you get the full impact of how dynamic these tiny speakers are. I’ve made many calls with the Frames and people at the other end haven’t noticed any issues with some even saying the call quality is better than with the phone alone. I don’t really use Siri much but tested it and works well and does what I asked. To summarise, the Frames are stylish and comfortable with nice sound quality and if they offered them with prescription lenses I would gladly wear them daily I really enjoyed using them for making calls. Overall, the Bose Frames Rondo are a great product with clever features, but my not be useful to the averagevperskn. The app and Bluetooth function flawlessly, and the sound quality is fairly good. when the sound is off, the quality and for of the sunglasses is also very nice and easy to use when driving (do not use audio while driving). My only issues are with the high price and potential for other people to hear the music. For more details, read on!First Impressions: The packaging was easy to open, and I loved the modern styling of the glasses case. While it appears extremely large, it is only to fit the electronics on the frames of the glasses, and doesn't cause any problems for normal use.One thing I found strange, however, is that there was no manual or quick start guide in my unit. While I understand that this is marketed to tech savvy customers, Bose should at least include a link to more product info on a slip inside the package.Connected Features: As always, the Bose app works well with this product and allowed me to fully control my product from its name to fully setting it up. The Bluetooth works well and provides good sound quality, especially for the unique speaker setup.Sound Quality: The device provides decent sound quality through an array of speakers pointed at the user's head. Because it does not use the conductive bone speaker technology that is up and coming today, there is occasionally slight sound leakage. This only occurs at high volumeEveryday Use: Whether you use them as regular sunglasses or enable the audio features, the Bose Frames are a comfortable product that looks great. It works for men and women, and despite the size of the frames, nobody seemed to notice. They are durable, come in a good case, and are easy to charge when needed. They have a great battery life, so you don't need to worry about constantly having to plug them in. In summary, these are a great product, and my only issue is the price. In the future, be sure to look out for prescription lenses for the Frames!

After hearing about Bose AR last year, I have been interested to try out the Bose Frames. Sadly, the AR features are not available yet, which left me a bit sceptical how useful these would be over the cheaper solution of earphones and sunglasses. While I was expecting not to like them, I came away, pleasantly surprised. Most of my concerns, while still valid, were mostly overblown. Sound leakage exists, in a quiet room, you can hear them at moderate volumes, but while walking down the street, ambient noise is louder than the sound leakage. Even at moderately loud volumes, I have not had any funny looks off passers-by, though I would be cautious about he volume level on public transport.Sound quality is considerably better than expected, these can’t compete with a good pair of in-ear headphones, but they are considerably better than bone conduction earphones I have use. While the bass is lacking compared to in-ear they do have far better bass than I could have ever imagined. The main issue with sound quality, is that ambient noise will affect your audio, cars can drown out vocals, so things like podcasts can be awkward to listen to in noisy environments. While these are not designed for sports, there is an obvious appeal here, especially cycling. For road cycling, with me leaning forward I did find that these slipped down my nose a lot. They are quite large glasses so dependant on head size your mileage may vary. Similarly, for running I experienced the same problem, but for a slow jog they are fine.Where these excel is for casual cycling and commuting, you remain situationally aware while still being able to listen to audio. I recently used these on holiday, and they are perfect for navigation allowing you to keep your phone in your pocket without looking too much like a tourist. For the daily clycling/scooter commute (in sunny climates) these are perfect, providing excellent audio quality and the safety of hearing things around you. Overview: I've had these awesome sunglasses for a couple weeks and have used them while working, biking, and relaxing. At first I felt they would look too large for my face (I wear between a size 6-7/8 to a 7 fitted hat), I was wrong! Everyone who has seen me commented that they look great. People even recognize that they are Bose headphone. AKA they have been a free conversation starter with some very attractive ladies.Fit: As mentioned they are slightly large as to fit on my face, though aesthetically I've received much approval, I do wish they were slightly tighter around my temples. They will not fall off!, even while biking, and I like to push hard/pop wheelies/bunny hop off curves/stoppies...the works. However you may find them slipping slightly more forward then is preferable.Sound Quality: Amazing!, seriously you will not be disappointing. I noticed the bass on them works better if your below 50percent volume. I've tried every genre imaginable and wasn't disappointed from hip-hop to rock to classical these sunglasses headphones deliver clear crisp bumpin sound. You can hear them clearly while in normal noise levels even at the lowest volume. If you ride a train, your going to wanna turn them up due to the rail noise, same with bicycling.Sound Privacy: If you don't wanna share your music with others, below 50percent will be just for you, below 35percent nobody will even know your playing music. Crank it up to 100percent and others will hear a little bit of what you do if they are for instance in an elevator, directly next to you, however they still can't make out clearly your music.AR Apps: Bose has developed a platform here. There's games you play by moving your head (the headphones can track head motions), games you play by making choices with your voice, an app that gives more exact directions with ques as to landmarks, and an app that creates a cityscape of music that changes as you move through the city!! Check it out and have fun!

I'm a huge fan of new technology. I love gadgets and like to try everything new that comes out. I also have a bit of a headphone addiction, and a sunglasses problem. When I got word that Bose was releasing sunglasses, with built-in audio, I was pretty amazed and ready to go!When you put these on your head, you get immersed in sound from all around you, but it's not so loud that you can't pay attention to your surroundings, or even have a conversation with someone next to you. These things provide the ultimate in background music. You can have a soundtrack to your life playing all the time, while no one ever knows. These are nice to wear on a hike, or a run, a bike ride or even just sitting outside. The microphone sounds good for phone calls, in typical Bose fashion.Fair warning, these do not have much on the way of bass response - and you would expect from an external speaker of its size - these don't appear to be designed to be turned up so loud that you can "feel the music" like you can with a pair of headphones. In my opinion, these are definitely not designed as headphone replacements - merely another layer of integration of music into daily life. Another thing I want to mention is Bose AR - I downloaded Audiojack and have been listening to different scenarios and it is very, very awesome to have a story told without any words being spoken.All-in-all, I want to give these a 5-star, but I have to deduct one to the lack of ability to customize the fit. I do not look good in round frames, and prefer a more squared-look, but the squared frames are slightly too large and have a tendency to slip down the bridge of my nose. If I could tighten them slightly, I'd be much happier. I would also like to have the option to change the lenses, or remove them so that I could wear these inside all day while sitting at my desk, because they are practically perfect for extended listening. I was provided with a pair of these to try out in exchange for a review. I was provided with the mirrored lenses too, which look great. Changing the lenses is simple and relatively fuss-free.These glasses are magical when you first try them. Once you've paired them with your phone (simple and painless) and put them on, the music in your ears seems to come from nowhere. The sound is clear and while not as good as a pair of over-ear headphones, they were never going to be. I've passed my pair on to countless people who are amazed with them and everyone wants to know how they work! The sound isolation is great. Unless you turn the volume right up, the sound leak is minimal and I've listened to audio books, podcasts and all kinds of music and nobody has so much as noticed. In the right environments - e.g. in the office, while outside in the town/city, at home in the garden, and on some trains they sound great. Anywhere that there's any significant ambient noise I found that they become inaudible very quickly. On any of the London Underground lines they are unusable without turning the volume WAY up and even then that doesn't always help. And besides, do you really want to be wearing sunnies on the tube? The biggest issue I have with this product is - how often am I really going to use these? In the UK we don't get that much sunshine and if I'm in the office I'm not going to sit with my sunnies on. Where they're good, they're very good, but those situations are relatively limited. The non-standard charging cable means yet another charging cable added to the collection, and the provided cable is very very short. The augmented reality stuff is interesting but so far very basic. I'd love to see how this develops.Overall? A great idea with some fabulous plus points, but for me the opportunities for use are relatively limited. Personal I am blown away with This product, first off Bose you made it extremely easy for me to pick these above another brand of sunglasses. First the price, I would normal spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 on Oakley’s which was my go too brand for sunglasses. But the important thing to remember is that Oakley’s are just glasses, the Frames provide so much added benefit that for the price I could not just buy the Oakley’s. Second the sound quality, the sound quality is superb it’s just amazing; the statement about the bass from these glasses is true but really only a minor issue if you are someone who listens to bass centric audio which in my case I don’t,on that note it’s is not like there is no low end they just don’t have that pop like bass seeking customers prefer. Apart from that the sound quality meets the expectations that Bose as a brand has come to represent, I don’t think anyone that knows anything about audio will tell you they don’t sound anything less than amazing for their size.Areas of opportunity: 1. They could have a better water resistance rating, I think that would help give customers more ease of mind. 2. Proprietary charging, stay away from proprietary charging if you seek mass adoption which I believe these meet the criteria to do so. USB-C for the next pair is necessary. 3. Design, the bulky sides could be better if you stretch out the thickness all the way across to slim them down a bit and make them look a little more flush. Again this goes back to that mass adaptation aspect. Overall great execution on a 1st gen product I can’t wait to see what you guys do on gen 2 and I stoked for AR to become available. glad there was no cameras and or evident sensors that would cause non-users To feel uncomfortable.

I was a little sceptical at first when I got these as I was worried they would look odd or oversized. However on comparison with a pair of sunglasses I owned the only bit that was different was the side view and then it was only marginally larger (see pictures for illustration). The glasses are surprisingly light despite packing a decent battery life with approximately 3.5 - 4 hours runtime depending on volume and playlists. The design is quite sleek and sit really comfortably on the face with minimal sliding on the nose even with sun cream. The glasses work really well however there are 2 downsides for me:1 - When you lay down on the sun lounger and lift them off your face they switch off,I guess this is expected as they turn off by turning them upside down. 2 - They look odd without any sunshine, although when pushed up on top of the forehead they still give a decent but reduced sound, additionally Bose offer different lenses and I'm hoping clear ones will feature soon as the lenses are really easy to change. The sound can only slightly be heard by anyone else at approx 3/4 volume but even then its a lot less than more traditional earphones. Above 3/4 volume the base becomes less although the clarity of the sound remains fantastic.Despite a couple of drawbacks these are amazing with everyone who has seen them wanting to test them and being in awe of the quality as well as jealous. If you are wanting to add a soundtrack to your life and still experience the hustle and bustle of your surroundings then these are well worth it although will more volume you can drown out the majority of conversation, much to the dissapointment of some of my friends :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I currently have Bose Headphones and when I saw these, and wanting something more discreet, This appeared to tick all the boxes. The frames are stylish with a similar wayfarer style, Lenses are interchangeable thus being able to change colour easily and they truly are light, given the fact that they have speakers in both arms......Lets talk about sound quality, The quality and depth of sound is very good. Don't expect it to be in line with your QC35's as that's not what they are meant to be.... These produce good depth when listening to music and is very good for also listening to podcasts etc. The Volume is sufficient at 80% to be able to clearly hear what your listening comfortably. The app is very easy to navigate and connect, and once initial connection done the first time, the glasses seamlessly connect when you press the little button on the underside of the right arm. Once connected I use Apple Music to stream all my music, I can even use my Apple Watch to control the volume which is a bonus if phone is in the pocket. You can change track by tapping the button on the arm twice and three times and to turn the glasses off, you simply turn the glasses upside down for 5 seconds. It comes in a nice presentation box with charging cable and rigid glasses case, the only omission I would like to have seen is a lens cleaning cloth included. However this is very minor.Overall an amazing set of glasses which produce great sound quality. This was an off the cuff purchase however since owning these my oakley's have been firmly put in a draw...... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great concept and works better than I expected.Took them to work and all I got was the wow factor.Bluetooth connection was very easy to establish in conjunction with the Bose connect app.I could still connect about 7 metres away.Glasses look similar to what's in fashion which has to be key to sway buyers to purchase (who wants to wear ugly glasses!?).Battery life is good, however I would have preferred the latest USB C charger than Bose’s own.Overall the sound is very good, with minimal leakage at a reasonable volume.Lacks bass, but that's expected given the speaker size. I wasn’t disappointed and my friends who tried them also couldn’t believe the great sound quality.Even though they don’t sit right inside the ear I didn’t find any lose sound quality but at the same time allowed you to keep alert of the surrounding.I believe that product isn’t targeted at audiophiles who prefer function over form.“One size fits all' concept doesn't always work however the glasses worked well with the various people who tried them on. This is probably the beginning but I am sure other ranges will also be hopefully introduced like in a gloss finish. The lens are easy to change and I am sure the local optician can change this to photo sensitive lens which can then be used indoors and in low light and increasing its functionality. Overall good quality lens for everyday use.Comes with a funky sturdy case and a cloth bag to help against abrasion.Highly recommend and reasonably priced. I’ve had these frames for about a week now, and have to say I’m really pleased with them. They are very light and comfortable to wear. I have the black lenses which do a perfectly fine job keeping the bright sunlight out. I was originally worried about the thickness of the arms but I have to say when wearing them they don’t look chunky at all.So, the important bit! The sound. Don’t go expecting deep bass that you would get from a pair of on-ear headphones, if that’s what you want then that’s what you need to buy. That said the sound is surprisingly good. Perfectly adequate for listening to tunes when chilling on the sun lounger on holiday. The added bonus is that you can hold a conversation without needing to unplug or take off earphones. The only draw back is there is a sound leak so people around you could hear the tinny version of whatever you're listening to.There is a convenient facility to play, pause, skip forward or back on music tracks from a tiny button on the side of the frames, you can even take calls. Battery life so far seems very good, I have only charged them once in a week, and they have been used a lot recently. If you flip the frames upside down they will conveniently turn off, and the case provided will provide more than ample protection.Charging is easy and quick, as is pairing with an iPhone through the Bose connect app.All in all, very pleased, these won’t replace headphones but thats not what they are designed for. Go treat yourself! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
