A review for Bosch Rotak 36 R Electric Rotary Lawn Mower, Cutting Width 36 cm.Having used several variants of this over the last few years I am aware of the the great lawn mower model this is which sees the same fundamental design improved with each iteration. The lawnmower comes partly disassembled packed as into a box measuring 61 x 41 x 38 cm, so easy to fit into most cars. All is needed is simple assembly of the two piece grass box, attaching of the two piece foldable handle and the rear wheels, assembly took about 20 minutes.Perfect for small medium sized lawns. The mower is a rotary mower in that a rotating blade is used to cut grass. A height lever allows you to set the cutting height between 5 preset levels.A limited rear roller allows you to create limited lawn stripes. The large 40 litre grass box allows you more cutting before having to empty and lifts off easily for emptying, however I am not impressed by the apparent flimsy nature of the grass box not solid like other Bosch products. Ergonomic handle design allows for easy safe ad comfortable use, and with a 10 m cable allows plenty of coverage, although for most gardens you likely need an extension cable.The handle has the ability to collapse right down for easier storage, in addition the grass box also disassembles to flatten down again for easy storage. Whilst the handle and grass box do collapse down they are more of a faff than any real practical use. Generally a lightweight mower with an strategically placed integrated carrying handle for easy portability. Instructions are poor and rather confusing, badly angled illustrations. I am quite technical and don't have too much problem with assembly this could have been better.Overall a very capable mower which is able to cut at several different heights, 10m cable, grass box not the best.Positives+ 5 variable cutting heights+ Large grass box+ Rear roller+ Collapsible handle+ Collapsible grass box+ Comfortable grip handle+ Good 36cm cutting width+ 10 m cableNegatives- Poor user manual- Grass box not sturdy

I have not used the mower as yet but have assembled it. Other than the lack of a screw to fix the attached cable holder to the handle, it was relatively easy to put together. (a cable clip was provided which is shown on the instructions but this was not required because of the attached cable holder).First impressions were that the mower is more solid than some reviewers have suggested, apart from the collection box which seems quite fragile though once in place, seems fine. The mower is heavier than expected but using the carrying handle and with the grass box removed, it makes for a balanced lift and not at all awkward.Getting the quick release handles to operate to allow the double folding handles to fold as shown in the attached Bosch photograph proved not so simple.I decided to give Bosch a quick call as nowhere on the internet could I find simple instructions. Their assistance was clear and now I know how to do this. It is hardly a quick operation but it is effective once you know how and converts the long assembled lawnmower into a small bundle..I was also advised to register with Bosch to receive a 3 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY. When I registering the mower via MY BOSCH I noted it states that you cannot get this warranty after 14 days from the Date of Purchase (not the date of delivery). Extended warranty is FREE.There was nothing in the packaging or advice from Amazon to suggest this extra warranty is available. This extended warranty can be applied to most Bosch power tools.UPDATE AFTER USING FOR FIRST TIMEThis mower is beyond my expectations. It tackled dense mossy thatch, uneven areas and long thick grass on a slope with ease. It leaves a smooth finish and cuts right up to the edges just as it says on the box. I wish I had given up my Flymo hover mower years ago. This Rotak 36R is effortless in comparison. Once I have scarified and fed my lawns it will be a delight to keep then neat and tidy with relative ease.

- Height adjustment system raises and lowers front and back at once, which is neat and easy.- Roller leaves nice stripes.- Ergo handles are comfortable and help my posture.- Cut is good, very even and no seed heads left.- It will completely fill the grass box and still pick up everything.- Grass box halves stay tight together as long as you take a second to make sure the catches are properly engaged.- Cable pinching problem with previous models has been eliminated with a neat bit of plastic.BUT:- People have had trouble assembling the handles because it's the WRONG MANUAL, I worked it out, but not everyone is as mechanically minded.- The neat widget to avoid cable pinching doesn't figure in any of the pictures,which may be why people are still having the problem.- People have also had trouble folding the handles because the manual doesn't cover how to do this, even for the old types of handles that it does mention. It's neat and easy in the right order, but, as you'll see from other reviews, you get in a horrible mess if you do it in the wrong order.

Purchased this on an lightening deal for abt £70. Come delivered in a compact box and takes about 15min to put together.Agree with other comments it is very plastic and was about worried however after about 6 months worth of use it is good. The plastic helps keep the weight down with 5 trimming levels I think.The rear roller does really give the grass stripes. Would say the ergo handles are about gimmicky big does give several options on keeping the power on when navagatjng around the garden.Fairly light to manuvere and easy to clean. When not in use the handles fold down to a smaller size with quick release side clips and a few turn of the hand screws.The cable is a decent length so no needto take out an extension lead for me.Would recommend and deffo buy again.Finally this model is the same found in b&q and homebase but have figured out that they are called different model numbers to avoid price matching and causing abit more confusion for buyers.

I got to know about the Rotek, from using a 32 size 1 while doing the grass for a friend, I couldn't believe how easy it cut through the long grass, The mower I had was on it's last legs so decided to go for one of the rotek model. Plumped for the 36" model. man I think this is the best mower I have ever brought, Easy to use, Lightweight & best of all you don't need to pick up the cuttings after you cut the edge of the lawn, as with it's up to the wall cutting it picks up all the cutting around the edge of the grass.I can highly recommend any of the rotek range to anyone looking to buy a new mower.Best thing I ever did was getting one.

I purchased this to replace a 16 year old Flymo hover lawnmower. That was good and reliable but had some electrical issues after prolonged use.I grew my grass tall and then decided to trim it down. The job was done in 10 minutes, which took about 30 minutes with the Flymo (Flymo had a small bin).Pros:Large BinWide radius bladeLight weight so do not feel tiredCons:Bin drops some cut grass out of it, designed in a weird way. You have to go over it once again to pick up the grass, which doesn't take long, but is still waste of time and energyPutting the lawnmower away, in a compact manner is like a puzzle

I'm pleased with this mower first time out. It took me a while to fit it together - the handles are definitely a two man job, but it wasn't that difficult. The power lead is a bit too short, so I had to use an extension cable, but no big deal. The reason it hasn't got 5 stars is that the grass box is flimsy as pointed out by others. All in all, even though I'm a complete novice at Lawn maintenance, it cuts well, it's light and made short work of my garden. I even got stripes!!! Feeling very proud of myself. By the way, that picture was on the mower's longest cut. I'll go shorter when I have more confidence!

This is to replace a Flymo hover mower as I have a new and much larger lawn. After the re turfing we went away and could not cut the grass for 4 weeks. I did doubt that the new mower would cope but it cut through the grass on the highest setting effortlessly. I will keep it on this setting for the time being.It did take me a little longer than expected to set it up and the grass box seems flimsy, but on the other hand, it is light and seems to do the job. I am very happy with this purchase!

Got on daily deal for £69.99. How can I criticise at that price?Instructions could definitely be improved. It says on the box compact storage and shows the mower all folded up. Well it's beaten me.Grass box a little flimsy and I suspect likely to lose some grass cuttings if carried full. Will comment further when the lawn has grown enough for a good cut.No where to coil the flex for quick release.At £69.99 4 stars, if £125 it would have got 2 at best.

Delivery service was excellent. It arrived within three days of ordering it. It was easy to assemble but if it has a fault the grass box appeared to be a bit flimsy. However once assembled it did the job perfectly and is large enough to collect all the grass from my lawns , only requiring to be emptied twice. The mower cuts the lawns neatly and leaves a lovely striped finish. It is lightweight and manoeuvrable. I would definitely recommend this mower.

Was bought to replaced last Bosch mower which we had for 10 years & was used between 3 family members, so had a lot of use. This 1 has fancier features ie grip handles, 36 inch cut instead of 32. The build quality does not seem as good on the new one & was surprised that the electric cord is a lot shorter. I would have thought it would have longer given its a bigger mower. Still very good cut, demolishes longer grass.

I am sure this is an excellent product but I bought this mower because it was near, cheap and broken. Indeed, I took it to the dump after collection while retaining the flex, which was the part I wanted. Thus I have no experience of using a Bosch Rotak 36 other than it made a satisfactory noise when I threw it in the appropriate skip at the dump and that is why I am not equipped to recommend it to a friend!

Bought this a week ago having read the reviews saying it was good for overgrown gardens and long grass- rear part of my garden was very overgrown- with rough ground and weeds- grass in places over foot high!!!!!!!! This little beauty tackled the job with no problems less than an hours work and all looking good again. My dogs are in heaven running about in the glorious sunshine. Would recommend it to anyone

we have recently moved to a house with a bigger garden and as we are not getting any younger brought this instead of a hover as it had wheels. it has a height gage and is easy to use. the set wasn't to much of a problem and can be stored easily by flipping the handles down. the only thing is the box doesn't hold as much as I thought and it is a little on the flimsy side but otherwise a brilliant buy

This is to replace the old smaller version that I had for many years. The cut is neat and clean, the grass box is large so you don’t have to keep stopping to empty. Good stripes from the roller.One flaw it has is the bin drops some cut grass out of it. You have to go over it once again to pick up the grass, which ideally shouldn’t have to with the price of this lawnmover. All in all, happy with it
