I had the corded version of the Bosch 43 Rotak for the last 8 years and have been very pleased with the cut, its light weight and reliability. Very recently, the mower developed a screeching sound and I was concerned that the bearings were about to go. I was also getting fed up with having to bend down (nearly age 65!) and move the cord every so often. I wanted then to replace the mower with a cordless version. I investigated other cordless mowers such as Ego, Greenworks, etc, but found that whilst they may offer a wider cut, they seemed to be a lot heavier. Unlike the corded Bosch 43, these mowers don’t seem to have a rear roller for stripes.I had also some doubt about the cut and I wondered whether they’re more suited to an American back yard than an English garden!I thought then that I would stick to the devil I know so went ahead and recently purchased the Bosch 43 Cordless! I bought it from Gardens4Less at £519 which included two 4 Mah batteries and an extra blade. The Amazon price was cheaper at £485 but it didn’t include the extra blade and the two batteries are less powerful ones at 2 Mah.When I got the mower, it was a little fiddly to put together, especially the clamps on both arms. I then charged up each battery. With the battery inserted, the mower didn’t feel any heavier compared with the corded version. Without any cord and due to its light weight, it was a joy to manoeuvre! The cut is just as good as the corded version if not better! The only difference is regarding the height of cut. The lowest setting of the height adjuster of the corded version (setting 1) would scalp the lawn so for most purposes I had it on setting 2 which gave the lawn a nice, park like close cut. With the cordless version, the lowest setting 1 is equivalent to setting 2 of the old version so to get the same cut I will leave it on this lowest setting. It doesn’t scalp the lawn on this setting, but I noticed that if the lawn is slightly long in places the motor will ‘hunt’. If you walk more slowly through the longish grass, this seems to remedy the problem. At no time did the motor cut out. I also have some very long grass and adjusted the adjuster to setting 4. It cut through this with no difficulty at all.I have a front and back garden totalling a quarter of an acre in all. The back garden has many obstacles including a pond, a shed, an old Wendy house and a large beech tree. I was very pleased that the 4 Mah battery lasted for around hour’s mowing time enabling me to cut both front and back lawns without having to change batteries. Admittedly, this was a ‘summer’ cut so the first and second cut of the season may take more power so you might have to change batteries then.In all, I’m very pleased with this mower. It’s lightweight, has a great cut and the 4 Mah battery should enable to you to mow a large lawn on a single battery. Please make sure though that you go for offers selling two 4 Mah batteries rather than 2 Mah.

This mower is superb. A proper quality product as you might expect from Bosch. It is easy to assemble (less than 15 minutes I would say), it is lightweight and you can easily carry it by the handle from front to back garden if needed. It folds up very compactly, the grass box is easily detachable as well. I bought the mulching kit as well and this really works well for mulching the grass into smaller bits and putting back into the lawn. Height setting is one-touch and couldn't be easier. The blade is pre-fitted and I think would last quite a while. It is not self propelled and I thought this might be an issue as my previous lawnmower was a petrol self propelled one. However, this is so much lighter that pushing it is really easy and turning ti as well. it has a roller for the striped effect which also works well. Setting the handlebar element is easy and just a click or two to get to the right height and angle. They really have though of everything with this machine. Now...the batteries. You get two plus the charger. I reckon it's an hour at most for each battery to charge from empty to full, they are 36v Li-Ion and even at 2.0Ah you will get around 40-45 minutes constant mowing. One thing I have learned is that unlike the petrol mower i can stop and start with ease instead of keeping the engine running to save the start procedure. I can easily for both front and back lawns with both batteries, and my back garden is around 50 metres long with about 250sq.m of lawn to tackle. One more thing, this thing is VERY quiet...not much louder than a a vacuum cleaner and much much quieter than the petrol mower. I can only find one fault with this, and that's the lack of a visible battery level indicator....basically the first you know that power is low is when the revs drops and then the thing stops....there's about a minute between the two events! However, the battery is quick and easy to change over. You're back and running very quickly and if you use the changeover break to recharge the empty one, then by the time the second runs out, the first will be good to go. It's so good I will sell the petrol mower . One last thing ....no servicing required! During the winter you can charge the batteries and store them, clean the blade and chassis, fold it up and store knowing it will be ready to go in spring with no air filters/plugs or carbs and cables to check. it might seem expensive but it's worth every penny.

This is a good machine. However, please see below pro and cons (nicked this idea from another comment :-) )Cons: Assembly isn't difficult, but instructions aren't that great either. The handles just need to be screwed in, but the plastic wire holder needs to be fixed at the same time, so if you miss it (which I did), you have to unscrew it and start again. Secondly, the grass collector just needs to be "clicked" in... However, it does not want to be clicked in, as the plastic is slightly softer than you would expect! And when I was mowing, one of the "clicks" hadn't gone in properly and so the grass was seeping out.Secondly, manoeuvrability is shocking. In straight lines, not an issue, but turning round it is not easy. Our garden has bushes close to the edge so edge cutting is not easy. And you can not change the holding arms. These are fixed.Next, the battery charger started making a weird noise whilst charging the second battery. Probably the fan, but still strange to hear the a charger making a noise.PS. Also pricey for a lawn mower - although I managed to get it on a Amazon Day!However, now to the pros. Once out in the garden, the cut was amazing. I've never been able to do line in my lawn but with this machine, it looked semi decent - straight lines (apart from the previously mentioned turning circle)! And the grass was damp but not an issue for the machine.Secondly, huge 43in blade, so blitz the garden in half the time compared to the old (but reliable over the past 10ish + years) Flymo 330 glider (33in blade). And with no cord starting and finishing meant no more wrapping the cord! Also, you can quite easily change the height cutting without having to dismantle the blade. The battery used only 80% of one battery to complete the full job, so I'm happy. We have a decent medium sized lawn (I think).Cleaning is also easy as they've used a non stick type of plastic, which meant the grass came off without a fuss. Let's see how long this lasts! One cut, and I'm happy. Let's see if I'm this happy in a few years.

This is the best lawnmower I've ever owned, but it's not perfect. My simply appraisal would be as follows:Good Points:1) No cable!!!!2) Two batteries - which is a life saver when one runs out half-way through mowing (I read one complaint saying that the battery gets too hot to change immediately, I have to say that I have not had this issue at all, and I swap my batteries with ease immediately when one runs out)3) Cuts the grass very well, has plenty of height settings (well enough for me) and isn't very heavy4) Batteries do not take too long to chargeBad Points:1) Very expensive but feels quite cheap in places, for example the plastic grass collector which is held together by flimsy plastic clips (one of which bent when I tried to assemble it and now has a fatigued white line across it after I straightened it out)2) Poor instructions - I didn't have a problem building it as it's very similar to my previous corded Bosch mower, however, I didn't realise that to start it you have to follow a specific set of points, i.e. turn the battery on at the battery as well as using the switch on the lawnmower, hold down the middle button and then pull one of the leavers (I was pulling the leaver and then pushing the middle button and wondering why it wouldn't start, that's after I had turned it on at the mower but didn't realise that there was also a power button on the battery!)4) Would have been nice if it was easier to turn... think of the Dyson ball in their hoovers and how effortlessly they make hoovering, well this is the complete opposite! All in all, I read some people's reviews and almost didn't buy this thinking that I would be disappointed. However, I'm glad I went for it in the end... yes it's expensive and not perfect, but the main point is it's made my life easier when cutting my lawn and it's bliss not having to worry about where the cable is. I would recommend this.To help your decision making process, I've added some photos.

After overcoming an awkward assembly process, especially the grass box, you're left with a worthwhile lawnmower that cuts well, is easy to move and carry around, and is easy to keep clean and tidy. Bosch seem to sell this cordless model with a bewildering array of battery options and although I haven't worked out the most cost effective one, I'm glad I went for two batteries so that one can always be recharging whilst the other’s in use. The mower is quiet and easy to use up to the edge of a lawn but don’t expect a light weight mower such as this one to give you same quality striped finish that you would get from a heavier cylinder mower. The finish you get however is quite acceptable and a reasonable compromise if like me you’re getting too old to manoeuvre heavy machinery around. The body work is all plastic but after one and half seasons of regular use in a fairly large garden nothing seems to have worn unduly. It has six cutting heights, apparently between 20mm and 70mm, both measurements far too short and far too long by the way, but although it’s easy to make those adjustments I would have preferred some means of controlling the cutting heights more exactly. I use this mower mostly on short grass, for which the mower is well powered. If however you normally you find yourself having to cut down long wet grass this cordless machine might not be powerful enough for the job but any other use if you need a good lightweight quiet machine this one fits the bill. It would be even better if it were a bit cheaper.

The cut is excellent. Pushing in a straight line is fine. Easy to move around from place to place being light. Comfortable and safe. However cutting on a curve feels difficult and puts a strain on the handles to vary the different curves and corners. The battery life appears to have reduced since my first mowing. At first I completed my 375m2 using less than 2 batteries. On my fourth mowing in the same conditions I had to wait for a further charge making a total use of 2.5 batteries.I bought the mulching attachment. This seems very expensive for a simple piece of moulded plastic. It appears only to work with short dry grass. Otherwise the clippings clog up underneath as the opening is very narrow. If the existing cover were better designed you would not need the separate mulcher. My other concern is financial. Two weeks after delivery I found the same product at around £100 cheaper. When I was buying mine I compared prices and found a range from about £450 to £600. I feel cheated In not being presented with a full range of factual prices by Amazon. This experience reduces my otherwise satisfactory opinion of Bosch and Amazon. In short I would say buy the mower at the £350 price and use for regular straight mowing of less than 300m2. Don’t bother with the mulcher at the price.

I was fed up of having to keep moving my extension lead around my garden in order to cut it all. I've upgraded from another wired Bosch lawnmower as I was impressed with the quality of the cut and also because it has the integrated roller unlike other brands - who doesn't like stripes in their lawn! This battery powered Bosch enables me to cut the grass in just about half the time of the wired alternative and I'm able to cut both my front and rear grass on a single charge - which is a benefit of the beefier 36V batteries compared to other brands and models which are generally 36V. The beauty of this package is it comes with 2 batteries so you can always have another fully charged battery ready. The charge time is about 45 minutes from flat to full so don't let that put you off. I am about to purchase the Bosch wireless 36V cordless strimmer to make that just as easy. Plus I'll only need to buy the barebone strimmer as I already have the batteries and the charger.Overall, I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to speed up their garden maintenance with the added benefit of expansion options with strimmers, hedge cutters and leaf blowers.

Get the negative out of the way first: As others have mentioned, the grass box is a pain to assemble and perhaps an extra pair of hand would be helpful when doing this. Having said that, you only have to do it once and the box does have a large capacity - so no stars lost for this. Once assembled, the mower is light enough to carry with the carrying handle neatly located at the balance point. The mower cuts the grass very well, and the wheels of the mower are within the diameter of the cutting blades so you can easily mow to the grass edge. The height of the cut can easily be adjusted. The battery is perfectly OK for my lawn which is about the size of a tennis court.I have marked the mower down one star because I do not feel that the handle is as comfortable to use as the one on my previous Bosch mower -the angle is not quite right for me. There are two "Dead Man's Switches " - left and right - so you are not limited to which hand to use . Finally, the fact that it is cordless is a great advantage. No more avoiding the cable as you mow, no need for a close power source and no more need for an extension cable.

I'm writing this review after having use this mower for about a year.I had a petrol mower which was on it's last legs. Having spent over £100 getting it serviced, I decided to take a chance on this electric mower. My lawn is split across front and back. The back lawn is about 350m2 in size and it takes just over one battery. The front lawn takes a battery. It is much lighter than an petrol mower and works very well. Its lighter weight means I can take it up steps from front to rear garden much easier than the petrol one.Only downside is it struggles in wet grass vs the petrol mower. However it doesn't smell, you don't have to worry about turning the mower over to clear grass, and it doesn't need servicing.All-in-all much cheaper to run in my opinion. The batteries take a few hours to charge, but that's fine especially since it comes with two of them.In summary, an excellent product and personally I would highly recommend it, especially since I bought it on black friday for around £300.

My first cordless lawnmower having been a petrol head. Out the box it is easy enough to assemble but the grass box does require some care and dexterity. In use it is light and cuts very well indeed. The deck height is easy to adjust and the leaf collection mode handy too. We have a steep bank and it is much easier to manoeuvre this light weight mower across than my old petrol model.Battery life is acceptable but cordless limits to small / medium gardens. Our lawns are approximately 200 sq.m so both batteries are required. Amazon sell this model with two 2Ah batteries rather than a single 4Ah. I found this a benefit as I could have one charging while using the other.Per the manual it is better to keep the mower running than constantly stop-start (it must use a lot of power to spin up the blades).Best for me is that I don't have to mow any more as my wife loves this so much she does it herself while I'm at work!Well done Bosch

My wife is a professional gardener. I bought her this mower to reduce the weight and the risks of a petrol mower. On reading some of the negative reviews I am wondering where some of these reviewers are coming from?It is technically not for commercial use, but the mower has worked faultlessly for several years now. The batteries if charged and used correctly provide a minimum of 40 minutes to 1 hours use depending on the cut and how wet the grass is. ( no sign to date of batteries failing to charge or hold a charge, no problems with charging station either)the assembly is minimal and unless you are a total idiot very easy to do. We did buy an additional battery which allows several hours of non stop mowing on lawns which are definitely not postage stamps.for anyone considering buying this product I can assure you if you read instructions and charge batteries correctly you will find it is a very useful addition to your gardening

I've wanted to swap from a Petrol mower to a battery powered one for a while now. Having used this mower I can immediately tell that I will enjoy mowing the lawn now whereas it always felt like a chore with the heavy Petrol one which always seemed to need more petrol. This mower is light so can be lifted easily to put in and take out of a shed. The quick release mechanism for extending the handle is quick and easy. You can then choose how to hold the bars and turning on is a simple two button job. I bought the 43cm model which is only a little narrower than my petrol on, but it feels just as quick to do our fairly small lawn (11m by 12m). But it definitely does a better job at the edges. Oh,and you can adjust the height with one handle (my other mower requires each wheel to be adjusted). Overall it's great. My only concern is how long the batteries will last and if they do fail how easy will it be to buy a replacement.

I bought a cordless electric lawn mower to mow round the shrubs we had planted in the front lawn - the sit-on mower could not be easily manoeuvred. I chose Bosch as I already have a small corded mower which has been ideal for the borders edges. I have been delighted with the mower. It is so quick and easy to use. The corded mower is no longer used and it is often preferred to the the sit-on mower when the grass is not growing too quickly. A third battery was necessary when I was using to to cut all the lawns. I make the mistake of buying a cheaper compatible battery which soon could not hold the charge. The Samsung battery is fine. There a couple of minor niggles: I find it difficult to remove the battery from the machine; the multi-mulch attachment only works effectively if the grass is dry and only a small length is removed.I wish it had been available decades ago.

Just bought my 2nd Bosch 43cms. Bought it on special offer at a very low price. The old one worked hard for 6 years and was given to friend - still working. Wanted 3yr guarantee & new battery/charger. I've had this for about 6 months and it's just as good as the old one - cuts long grass [12"], wet grass, and on steep slopes [not advised in instructions!]. Using a corded mower for my lawns took 3 hours, this takes between 50 minutes and 90 minutes depending on how quickly I push the mower. The only drawback is the battery life. The one that came with this mower lasts 15 minutes. Luckily have 4 others from other Bosch tools so job gets done but the best of mine only lasts 20 minutes.Be aware that the batteries are very expensive but the ones I've got are up to six years old and all are still holding their charge.I would NEVER go back to a corded mower.

Couple of days delay to original proposed delivery date. Top of box was open. However, all items in box and all brand new. Might be batteries packed separately from Germany to UK? Easy to assemble with good instructions. Used immediately as both batteries hard charge on them. Total area of grass I have is about 200m sq. I only needed second battery for last 20m sq. I already have the corded version of this mower and this cordless version does the job just as well but a lot quicker as I have no need to run out and connect cables and also no longer need to keep moving the cable when cutting the grass. The battery is easy to remove and replace.Battery has onboard charge indicator and is easy to charge on the robust charger which has onboard cooling which I assume is when it goes into auto fast charge mode. I would highly recommend this mower.
