I'm not often compelled to write a review - but, after the third cut with this mower, here goes.Firstly, the unboxing and the assembling. Theres not much to say here, its not light but unboxing wasn't too taxing - nor was the tightening of the four bolts and two thumbwheels that constitutes final assembly.I followed the instructions and added 300ml of oil, a splash of petrol and primed the carburettor. It fired and ran smoothly on the first pull of the cord. This is all I did for 2 months, as all I wanted to do at this point was ensure all was OK when delivered. Then came the cutting - Again, it started easily and powered its way through some pretty long grass and uneven terrain.Plenty of power for a domestic lawn and even foot long grass in places were barely noticed. Runs for an hour on half a tank of fuel and isn't too noisy. Maneouvering whilst not under drive is a little cumbersome, due to the weight but so much easier than my previous electric push along mower overall.Due to the weight, probably not recommended for very tight spaces, but for our 25m x 18m lawn with a few plants and shrubs in the way its ideal. It picks up grass really well and is very easy to empty and refit the collection bag. Restarting when hot is effortless. Height adjustment is a one handed doddle and cleaning afterwards is easy too.I very much doubt you can buy a better mower for under £200

Just received this mower, had it delivered at work so the first job was to lug it out of my car and to the back of my house. I wrecked the box so that i could wheel the mower out rather than slip a disk by lifting it out, then removed all the wrapping. It took me a while to realise that the reason i could not bolt the handles together was due to the being no holes in the lower handle with which to attach the upper handle, that was a disappointment. However, the idea of struggling to repack it all and shove the damaged box back into the car verses just drilling the holes myself was something i just couldn't be arsed with, after all, the grass was still growing. So i drilled the holes myself,i hope this doesn't invalidate any warranty. After filling with oil and petrol the machine and pulling the starter cord slowly a few times just to maximise lubrication it started first time and made short work of grass that hasn't stopped growing throughout the winter. In summary, this is a great machine for the money, even better if you get one with pre-drilled handles! Please Einhell, sort out your QA!

Let me start this review by saying I know nothing about lawnmowers - my Dad had a Hayter self-propelling petrol lawnmower when I was young, and thought that was cool. My lawn is medium size, but is about as bumpy and uneven as the surface of the moon. Subsequently, cutting the grass involved a electric Flymo hover mower, but it would take forever. This Einhell lawnmower is my first foray into petrol - and honestly I’ll never look back. Yes, it’s heavy, very heavy. But it works brilliantly on my crazy lawn (I chose it for this very reason), is reliable (I have other Einhell Power tools also) and always starts first time... apart from today when I forgot to prime the engine with fuel before starting it.It doesn’t have a roller - so no stripes officially, but the wheels leave stripes themselves and I love the effect it produces. It doesn’t come with oil - so make sure to buy that too.My only criticism - the oil dipstick is plastic, which makes taking a reading VERY difficult, why couldn’t they make it out of metal? Otherwise, highly recommended. I love my lawnmower.

Managed to order this at £139.99 which is a bargain price for a self propelled mower with a metal body. The mower arrived in a big box within two days and was a breeze to assemble, taking about 15 minutes tops. The grip part of the handle only needs attaching to the lower handle part which in turn bolts onto the mower body. All bolts are provided in a sealed bag along with a spark plug spanner. Finally - Attach grass collector and top up engine with 0.4 litres of oil (10-30 recommended) and add petrol. The mower fired up first time and grass cut initially at maximum height, then height lowered and cut again. Really like using a powered mower.. no more pushing.I think the engine on this mower is a Hyundai unit,as it looks very similar to the 139cc Hyundai engine fitted to that make of mower seen on other web sites. Parts appear to be readily available for Einhell mowers, so I have no worries about its long term serviceabilityConclusion: A well made mower - especially good value if discounted

This is a very good and powerful machine, I was faced with three weeks of lawn growth after XPO logistics were unable to deliver a mower from Exeter to Cirencester during that time but once I got this up and running the 8" high wet grass had no chance. Assembly was straight forward but there are a couple of issues. The English translation is the only one that has not spec for oil capacity etc. The oil dipstick is impossible to read being a black plastic job with no clear indications of where the level is. Find a measuring jug and make sure you add 0.4L of oil. 10W-30 is fine so don't get drawn into buying the Briggs and Stratton SAE30 as an add on.This does have a tendency to do a wheelie but just be a bit gentle when you engage the drive. I also found that this is really easy to use for a manual push in the hard to get at areas. The grass collector is more than large enough for most lawns and the fill level indicator is very useful. all in all I am very pleased with this machine

Used it twice so far and does the job nicely. No more struggling with the electric mower and only have to empty the grass collector about half as much as before. Starts first time so far and doesn't seem to use much petrol. The only (minor) niggle is the filler/dipstick - pain having to unscrew it every time to check the oil level when filling, as very difficult to judge with new oil. Could do with it propelling itself a tad slower as only got short legs, but apart from these relatively minor niggles very happy so far with purchase, particularly as I can finish the job now in no time.Looked around and this was about the cheapest self propelled I could find and it's not bad quality wiseeither.

Bought this lawnmower 2 weeks ago for £199.99 and have used it 3 times so far in my medium sized lawns. The motor is very quiet and seems to use very little fuel. Starts first time every time and cuts the grass with ease (even when long and slightly damp). Changing cutting heights is a doddle with a single lever and the self propelled mechanism works well.If you have an oddly shaped lawn with lots if obstacles to cut around then this probably isn't the lawnmower for you. It is very heavy so manoeuvring in small spaces can be a challenge. It is also not balanced very well - most of its weight is over the rear so it is prone to doing wheelies when the collection bag is nearing full.

The box arrived upside down but fortunately nothing was damaged.Assembly was fairly straightforward but there are several manuals that would be better collated into one manual.Remember to buy your own oil as none arrived in the box.The mower is simple and robust in construction, it started easily enough and is simple to operate. The motor is powerful enough to cope with long grass and is fairly economical. The blade height adjustment is easy to adjust, the mower cuts well even when the grass is a bit wet. The 56cm width blade makes fast work of a large area.Overall I am impressed with the mower and would recommend it to anyone. 5 stars from me ?

This is a brilliant deal - Given I was quoted £130 to just service our 13 year old Mountfield and it cost £250 4 years ago to service, you realy cannot go wrong with this Mower. It started on the first pull havin done the neccessary oil filling and petrol. Easy to assemble the handle bars. Very steady and the cuttings bin holds a great deal. The cutting size is 46 cm same as our old one. The Heaight adjustment is a single leaver for all four wheels making it easier to adjust. If I have one small niggle, is the two handle bar leavers for start and drive are a bit cumbersome, but I guess I will get used to it.

Does the job very well. Fast assembly, starts easy, cuts great and quite quiet for a petrol mower.Yes you could moan about a few things;Below 3 on cut settings bottoms out on the ground easily unless you have a bowling green for a lawn. (I have mole's. lol)The clutch is on or off and moves a one speed but you get used to it.Nevertheless, I think this is a great piece of kit for its price and you wont find anything better unless you spend at least £350 - 400.Set it to 5-6 and it cuts through anything, I mean anything.Oh and make sure you buy oil with it as it doesn't come with any.

Bought to tackle the unruly meadow which had developed after quite some neglect because the ride-on couldn't manage it.Half an acre of 8 inch grass, devoured in no time (well about 2.5 hours). Easy enough to start, no teething troubles. Feels sturdy enough. Need to listen out for the change in noise when the (damp) grass starts to clog the blade. No mower will clear damp grass easily. First impressions after 3 hours are very good. I intend to keep it serviced and oiled, remove any damp grass after use to reduce corrosion (wd40 and gt85 in the mix too). Will update in a few weeks.

Been running this machine for nearly a year and has done everything i could ask for. Plenty power for going up hills and throught thick grass. Will pick up wet grass without leaving anything.Great on fuel. Easy to start.Holds alot of grass and it very easy to take off and on the basket.Bars fold down so can be transported in a small car with no issues.Strips really well and leaves a nice sharp cut.Not to heavy so can be lifted in and out of vehicals and up and down starts easily.Would recommened this machine to anyone with a medium garden or small tall grass areas

What can a say, massively impressed with this. Alas my garden isn't bigger to put it through the ropes. The self propelled is great and nice and powerful. The height adjustment is so easy and it was very easy to start. It managed it cut through 2 foot grass but filled the catcher within seconds. There are a few variations of this mower as can be seen on the einhell website. This has a cheaper Chinese engine but seems to have plenty of power. At the price I paid it was 60 quid less than anywhere else I could find. Very happy.

This is an absolute beast! So big I wanna ride it!! Smashes through medium to large gardens and the straw teach the bigger blades provide make it worth that extra bit of cash. Very study and makes light work of bumpy lawns due to the added weight. I tend not to use the self propelled feature as it gives me a cardio workout. When I do use it, it takes care of the mowers extra weight. Leaves my garden looking super neat and tidy on the first cut. Handy mulch setting and bagless accessories... if that suits your needs.

10.6.2016

Relatively simple to put together, although as machine does not come with oil (and that's ok) some mention as to grade and quantity would have been useful. I had 3 weeks growth due to previous mower calling it a day and holidays and I am pretty pleased to say it performed superbly. The grass box is about 3 times as efficient as my old McCulloch. First time with a propelled mower and the initial acceleration takes a little getting used to, but it is fine. At the price (£139); very good value for money
