I purchased one of these as I was looking for a trendy but functional teapot for my kitchen (when you think of teapots trendy doesn't normally always go with the word teapot) this is where Bodum has changed the idea of teapots being something only older people use.I was a little worried about a glass spout as many of the teapots seem to have these, and me being a bit clumsy at times decided not to go for one of those but for this Bodum Assam one (the big reason is has no sticky out spout).Easy to use, pop tea leaves into plastic container (strainer) add water, press down plunger and you are left with a lovely cuppa without floating tea leaves on the top.I used Assam tea leaves along with Whittards Original tea leaves,I know it is called a Assam teapot, but the Whittards one do nicely in it also.I did think that maybe I would be covered with tea using the plunger for the first time, but no spillages and no drippy spout on it either. Plus you can see how much tea is left in the pot without taking the lid off.The handle feels nice and sturdy, not weak or weedy, and is doesn't seem to get hot either. If you are looking for a teapot that is not only functional but looks good when using it then a Bodum assam teapot is just the job. This is a teapot that uses tealeaves though not teabags, I had to tell our daughter that just in time.Another plus it is dishwasher proof (strainer and all).

My daughter and her husband love tea. They like to steep their own, and each one of them has a different flavor. Bodum is a name that U.S. well known in the coffee/tea business. Their products are high quality and this fits the bill. This tea press has a 17 ounce capacity. Place your tea in the infuser, add hot water and watch your tea brew. The only downer is that the lid only fits when the infuser remains. The teapot itself is made of glass, the lid and the handle are plastic. The infuser is revocable for quick hand wash or place in the dishwasher. This is a classy, matte active teapot, and is much used.Recommended. prisrob 06-15-15

As other reviewers have mentioned, this comes with the rather useless plastic insert. However if you buy this to replace a broken glass then it is fine. Just throw away the cheap bit of plastic and use it with your old stainless insert. If you are buying a complete teapot, then dont. Buy the one with the stainless insert. For the reviewer who was concerned with bitter green tea, the answer is its nothing to do with the teapot, use a better tea, and probably use less tea, and allow to brew longer, 5 mins + or so. The genuine Bodum spare glass is expensive with silly postage costs, so buy this for a spare....

My partner and I bought this teapot as we needed an infuser for tea as one of our friends makes delicious fandom based infusions. We wanted something simple but also of high quality and this is exactly that. This teapot make approximately four cups and the depth of the infuser prevent the leaves from constantly steeping while you drink. The holes in the infuser are very small and it is unlikely you will need a strainer for this. The only issue I can see is the handle, being made of plastic, might struggle to support the weight of the pot when full so be careful when carrying from table to table.

I've been looking for a replacement teapot, since my loved Sabichi teapot broke a while ago. This is a good-sized pot, you'll get 3-4 cups and the cafetiere-style infuser gives you a lot of control on the brew-strength. Tea leaves don't seem to escape the infuser (which is awesome) and it's really easy to clean.Couple of things to note:- The infuser will discolour, as it's plastic- You need to firmly hold the top while pouring, as the infuser doesn't clip into the teapot- Use a protector (like a cork board) underneath the pot, as it'll damage heat-sensitive surfaces

This is a good size - the infusion section works well as it has a cafetiere type compression pump where you can push down on your tea and or pump to release flavour and speed infusion - excellent for loose tea as the holes are small and start partway up the infusion section - it is light and easy to handle - I had to write this review as someone has knocked its stars down just because amazon cancelled their order for one of these teapots - poor Bodum! They make a great teapot its nothing to do with amazon its amazon that the person have grievance with - anyway a good buy

This plunger section can be a bit wobbly and the interior is plastic not the metal one you'll see for triple the price in department stores. That being said this thing is a God send... The number of times I've had to fish the ball and chain can't braiding tea leaves out the pot is numerous and this has stopped all that.Glass doesn't get overly hot to the touch, and ultimately it's a brand name that is synonymous with quality.Would be a 5* but the lid can be a bit wobbly and pouring it can get a de dribbles until you get the steady pot down.

I bought this teapot to replace a very similar one that we have had for 10 years or so. (The glass handle fell off the old one.)The latest version is an improvement. The old plastic inner tended to fall out when pouring out the final cup; this has been fixed by the addition of a couple of plastic ears. I also feel more confident in the new plastic handle than I was with the old glass one.I do not recognise the moans about smell or taste and can thoroughly recommend the teapot for its ability to control the length of 'brew'.

This is a great little teapot, easy to use and I enjoy being able to see the colour of the tea as it steeps. The pot itself has a nice amount of weight to it, and looks rather smart, while the infuser is easy to clean and does catch most of the leaves I use (which range from fine to course leaves depending on the blend). The infuser is plastic so has stained slightly after months of constant tea brewing, but I wouldn't consider that worth docking a star it doesn't detract from the function or aesthetic of the teapot overall.

Can't say I really agree with previous reviewers who say you need to make a whole pot in order for the tea to brew properly - I've had success making only a single mug - I just leave it to brew for a little longer. I haven't had issues either with the lid falling off. The only faults I can find are that it is quite tricky to pour the tea if the pot isn't very full - and I find the plastic filter very unattractive - would have been much better in stainless steel. Overall though it does its job.

At only 500ml this is the perfect teapot for small quantities - does 2 cups easily with a bit left over. Looks good, works just perfectly, and generally does exactly what it says on the box. For fine teas, it will let just a very few fine leaves through into the tea but that doesn't bother me - tea bags often do the same. I'm using mine for herbal teas and you can generally infuse the same tea leaves a couple of times, giving you more cups of tea!

A great teapot to replace the one I broke. The one I broke had a spout which stuck out and I bashed it on a tap. This one is better as it doesn't have a sticking out spout. Tea keeps hot for ages with a tea cosy, and also stays fresh so long as you remember to push the handle down. One of the lugs holding the tea container in place has broken as my previous one did, but so long as you are careful when pouring, it's not a big problem.

Wonderful teapot - looks very sophisticated - Plunger is great, because unlike the average teapot, you can control the strength of the tea, which isesp good for green tea because strong green tea aint good(horibbly bitter). And also it has a plastic infuser which Ive been told is better for the flavour of the tea - metal ruins the flavour apparently, so I went for thisone and Im very pleased - Highly Recommend.

My Bodum teapot is over 10 years old and is still going strong. I still have the cork base from the first production of this heavenly pot. I use it each and every day and it is one of my most precious possessions. It makes using leaf tea as straightforward as the teabag. Therefore, there is no excuse for not indulging in the drinking of real tea!Perfection itself!Cannot be more highly recommended.Matthew

Simple design. The black plastic makes it look a little cheaper than some other similar products but plastic as a material is much more practical. We had a similar all glass one which looked more attractive but unfortunately the glass lid broke within a couple of months. This has a plastic lid with plunger and plastic handle. The plunger function is a nice additional feature and assists with faster brewing.
