read a few reviews on this purchase as I always do, read people saying the lid knob was too hot to touch,I have not found this to be the case at all,yes it gets warm but no way is it too hot to touch, the water goes no where near the lid as the filter is below, with a clear gap between the two, whats more the lid doesn't even need to be held whilst pouring,so no problem there.I use loose tea and the basket is very good at holding the tea with only dust of the leafs getting through the mesh, which would be the case with all mesh holders, this seems to collect at the bottom of the pot rather than being poured into the cup, using a tea seive before getting this pot,it would let not just dust through but leafs too,so it is a marked improvement on that, tbh I blame the tea I use more than the pot as it's a supermarket bought organic tea, so will have dust present,if using rolled leaf tea then I would say nothing would get thought the mesh, the mesh and the pot are very easy to clean, thought some leafs might get stuck in the mesh but no problem there at all,the mesh holding the leafs can easily be removed when you have the brew as you want it, it has a little handle on it which is a nice touch, this too is not too hot to touch either and as it is nearer to the water,if anything would get too hot to touch it should be that. The pot holds around 2 mugs of tea, very good price for this as some I've seen are way more expensive, not really fair but I've only given this 4 stars as I would have preferred an all glass model(mesh excluded),so lost a star for looks but as said not really fair as I knew what it looked like before buying.

This is an excellent teapot at a great price. I am not a heavy tea drinker - but have been more since I received this. Brews very well, looks excellent, cleans easily. If there are remarks, then these are it:- it really is smaller than I imagined, but that has to do with 1200ml being less than I thought. So not loss of the five star rating there.- I noticed that there can be water between the glass and the inox construction around it - it is hardly noticeable. Just dry it upside down and that's solved. No loss of stars either.- But my biggest gripe is that the lid is difficult to remove to the point of being afraid that I would one day break it. Ok, it needs to stick on when pouring, but this is overdone. I suppose it is a problem with the one specific unit I have though and it is not enough to send it back. It is enough for me to remove one star.EDIT on 20111228: I took a point of the score because of the lid. A few days after I posted the initial review, the glass pouring tip indeed broke off while trying to remove the lid. I had done it a few times already and I guess I became a bit careless. Anyhow, I have written Amazon about it. They immediately sent me a replacement, which I received mere days later. The lid is far more easy to remove now - making it an excellent and well-priced choice.

What can I say, I love this product. I think I'm one of the last of a dying breed, as no one else my age (26) seems to own a teapot anymore, but I happily identify myself a a tea snob, and if you use proper tea leaves this is the pot for you.The way it infuses is I think the key to it's brilliance....boiling water goes in, then the separate container with the leaves go in, water moves up through it so there is space between the leaves for the water to move around it and get full flavour. I did do some research and thought this would be best, I have nothing to compare it to except a regular teapot but the flavour definitely surpasses that. The glass is a nice touch as it allows you to see all the different colours that tea offers, and brew to your own strength. Makes 4 regular sizes cup.

I had a small 'standard' cafetiere for making my hibiscus tea at work. It was great, but collegues seemed to be unable to understand how it worked or how much to use. I ended up with all sorts of random drinks, or nothing at all, if they simply gave up trying. This one is easy for them to understand. Put a teaspoon of my tea in the strainer and fill it up with hot water. - job done. I get the added bonus of two cups of tea at the right strength. The well made stainless steel & glass pot looks particularly stunning on my desk when filled with the rich red of hibiscus tea, but I am sure 'normal tea' or indeed other herbal teas would also appear attractive in it. Many people have commented how nice,or special it looks. Well worth the price I paid.

We first discovered these wonderful teapots in a cafe in York & ordered one from Amazon as soon as we got home as they are by far the best value for money. We got the stainless steel one as they seem to be the most reliable after reading other folks reviews. This makes the best cuppa ever and is perfect for 2 people as you get a second cup! We were so delighted with it that I got my dad one for christmas (he thought he already had everything he could want) - he loves it & great to get it delivered straight to his house. We daren't risk the dishwasher but every now & again it does need a deep clean. Would highly recommend.

I bought mine in 2009 and unfortunately dropped the beaker onto the floor. I think they have changed the design or suppliers as the replacement beaker did not fit the original holder. It was a much less spherical shape. So if your beaker is good don't drop it would be my 2 cents. The original one was almost perfect although cleaning the infuser very occasionally I was surprised that part was more sturdy than it appeared though I was still careful. The main and glowing feature of this pot/beaker was that it retained the heat! Almost as well as a thermos! No need for any cosy unless you like that sort of thing anyway.

I have wanted a little glass teapot for a while but was put off by the high price of some models. This one is very good value for money, and is a pleasure to use. Makes very good tea and is reasonalby easy to clean (some tea leaves do need a bit of persuading to come away from the walls of the little filter basket - especially if left overnight to dry out!). If you like to hold the lid in place when you pour out your second cup, you will find that the knob on the top of the lid does get really hot - but a strategically placed serviette solves this problem.

I've had this teapot (and the black one also listed) for some time and find they allow one to produce cups of tea exactly to taste. You can see the degree of infusion through the glass and remove the basket of leaves at that point. I find the Cafetiere teapots have infusion baskets with a finer mesh than some other similar makes. The latter allow some broken bits of tea leaf to escape and continue to infuse after the basket is removed, which, for those of us who like our tea very weak is a disadavantage.

I bought this for my wife and It's perfect. the mesh holder inside has small enough holes to not let any of the trash get out from the leaf tea we use. The only shock was when first pouring you naturally place your finger on the top to stop it from spilling. DO NOT DO THIS the shiny nob burnt our fingers as it just absorbs the heat. You do not have to as the lid fits very snuggly on just trust the handle and pour and you will be fine.

I bought this to replace our old Bodum teapot which used to clog up all the time. I got sick of having to pour a little bit of hot water at a time over the tea leaves in my bodum one - it was time consuming and if you poured too fast then the tea leaves would go everywhere. This teapot, however, is brilliant. No clogging, no having to pour water slowly and the result is perfectly infused tea. A great buy and I'd highly recommend it.

Love this t-pot. I bought one from M&S and use it every day many many times as I only drink tea. I use loose tea so the internal strainer is fantastic. Unfortunately a Christmas guest was a little over zealous with it and broke the glass. I ordered a new one at 11pm on Boxing Day and it arrived on the 28th December. Very impressed with he t-pot and Amazon for an amazing service. Would definitely recommend this - looks stylish too...

A decent mug of tea first thing in the morning is essential for me to get the day going. I was getting fed up with the poor quality of most teabags, and their inconsistent contents. This teapot is beautiful. It is just as quick to make, and is easy to control the strength of the brew. And unlike teabags, you can put the milk in first!! Only strange thing was that the bigger pot was cheaper than the smaller...

Absolutely brilliant little teapot. Couldn't be simpler to get a decent cup of tea. The removable tea leaf/teabag holder makes the whole process of brewing a cup of tea very clean and tidy. It holds just enough liquid for 2 cups of tea. If you want a little teapot that does 'just what it says on the tin' then this is the one for you. I love it and believe me I never thought I would say that about a teapot.

I had used one of these in an hotel, so knew exactly what I was getting. Very happy with this purchase, it looks good and it's just the right size for 2 reasonable sized mugs of tea.Yes, the lid does get hot, but that's to be expected from a metal teapot lid! It's good to see that spare parts are available on the la Cafetiere website, even new glass.

I particularly like the handle which gives me a good grip and allows me to swirl the tea around with great control. So now I brew my tea without the infuser, just putting the loose tea leaves directly in the pot, give a twirl at the beginning and another twirl at the end of brewing time. I swear extra flavour is extracted from the tea in this way.
