This was my third Bodum teapot. It stands out as being stronger and more durable than the smaller pots I previously had.Heat-resistant glass suffers from thermal stress when filled with boiling water. Although the glass is designed to withstand this, nevertheless it does warp a fraction when rapidly heated. My two smaller Bodum pots broke spontaneously after about 18 months' of daily use. They just suddenly fell apart while being filled. The 1.5L version, this one, is made of noticeably thicker glass which is better able to withstand repeated thermal stress. I have used mine for two years' now - say 2,000-odd brews - and am confident it will keep going indefinitely. All that said, the design is excellent and it makes lovely, fresh, tea. The large size isn't an inconvenience - filling it less than a third full?: then give it a swish around while brewing and after pressing the plunger. The press separates the tea from the brew very well and keeps the tea from becoming bitter.Tip: to help prevent accidental damage to the glass, e.g. chipping from a knock when not in use, I keep mine in a wooden bowl. I have also stuck transparent strips of protective laminate around the pot. This further reduces the chance of accidental chipping if it is knocked against something hard.Lastly, the pot's low mass means that pre-warming is unnecessary. A minor detail, but helpful for a tea addict like me.

I bought this to replace an original which I have had for about 20 years. The old one still works, but the infuser and plunger had seen better days and the plastic lid cracked. This one's better: the stainless infuser allows better flow of boiling water and is easier to clean; the plunger and lid are more robust and the silicone ring between the infuser and the pot holds the infuser in place. Best of all, the pot is the same size & shape as the old one, so I have a spare. The single downside is the glass handle. It seems like it'll be the think to break (so far so good, though...) and it gets hot when under a tea-cosy, which the old plastic one never did. That's the only reason it has lost a star.Oh,and it still makes most excellent tea!!!

Got one from here as a Christmas present and I'm really enjoying it. I had one with a glass filter before and the filter chipped so the water rushed straight through it. This is producing much better flavoured whole leaf and herbal teas. I like the fact that the filter has a space at the bottom where there are no holes - because I like to brew the leaves in a little hot water (so they unfurl) before adding more water = better flavour. I don't find it too big for one at all and it keeps the tea warmer than my old glass one. If I had to find a complaint, it would be that the black rubber rim on the filter is a bit ugly (especially for Bodum)- I wasn't sure if it was packaging I was supposed to remove before use!

I bought my bodum tea pot several years ago and it still looks as good as new!I find the plunger part quite impractical and retired it quickly. I noticed my tea got slowly stronger even after pressing down the plunger which should confine the tea leaves. Also cleaning it is a pain! Now I just use tea bags or a tea egg for loose teas. This is much easier and allows to make just one or two cups at a time.I love the design and would not ever use one of those oldfashioned china teapots again. I disagree with the review saying the tea gets cold quickly, I usually finish a pot within 45 min and it remains hot until the last sip - I usually rinse it with boiling water to prewarm the glass before brewingmy tea.

Love it.Arrived on time. The central tea press can be removed for washing. It doesn't leak on pouring. Acts a bit like a cafetiere. You put the tea leaves into the central tea press, let it brew to the strength you like, then push the plunger to stop the strength increasing, although I would say the strength did increase over time, although that was over a number of hours. Not used tea bags with it but assume it will work in the same way if you put the tea bags into the tea press rather than in its main body.In Sweden these are sold with tea light heaters although I have not seen one on the UK site. I am lucky to have a friend in Sweden who sent me one, this means the brew lasts much longer.

Used at the very least once a day every day since purchase apart from holidays, usually used 3/4 times a day, still as happy with it as the day I bought it.I bought the plastic insert before this one, that one is awful, don't try to cheap out like I did and just get this one.If the metal insert isn't placed in perfectly centred on the pot, the tea can spill, but that is user error (me half asleep on the way out in the morning), so not the fault of the item, and I have not taken any stars off for it, but just something to consider.Would buy again if I ever broke it, have tried other similar pots in both size and price band and this one is much better than the others I tried (john lewis etc)

I 'upgraded' to this from the Bodum pot with a plastic insert (also available on Amazon at the time of writing). The difference is marked - the quality of the basket and components is high, the seal of the plunger feels strong and doesn't look likely to break down at any time. The stainless steel basket is a huge upgrade from plastic - it's far less likely to take on nasty tastes (I'm looking at your Chai Tea) and doesn't get clogged up as easily thanks to smaller holes for water to flow through. If you still take the time to make loose leaf tea then this is really an essential and very well-priced accessory! I can't recommend it highly enough.

I was worried when reading the other reviews that the pot was only useful if you were making tea for lots of people. As long as you want to make 2 or more cups of tea - this pot is perfect. It keeps the tea warm for a considerable amount of time. The stainless steel strainer makes it really easy to wash. The strainer is effective at removing all the little bits of tea. Also its glass so you can stop brewing it as soon as it reaches the ideal colour. Also not badly priced considering the price of strainers I've seen in tea shops. A great product - would recommend to tea lovers !

I can't live without this tea press. Firstly it is elegant and minimal in its simple clear glass design; it is also easy to use and functional. I put my mint tea (fresh or dried) in the metal carrier and leave to infuse for as long as needed. I can see how strong the tea is as it's glass! I then plunge down and get delicious tea without any leaves. I can top up with fresh water and check the strength. My only complaint is the price. I recently broke my old one and find they now cost over £30 to replace. Still, I shall get one eventually.

It is beautifully designed .... and ALMOST works..... but it still let's tea through. Back to using the Bodum coffee pot for tea. It uses a smaller mesh. I just cannot fathom why Bodum has cut corners with the steel mesh.... they clearly know how to do this properly. It's better than the plastic.... but still not good enough. My advice is not to buy and get a Bodum cafetierre instead... but if they can sort the meshing it will be a perfect teapot.... what it should have been already.... It is a pretty ornament in our kitchen.....

As a herbal tea drinker who enjoys her tea very hot I have always found it difficult to brew the teabag and still keep the tea piping hot - not any more. This little teapot is ideal. I warm the teapot with hot water, place two teabags in the strainer, add the water, give the bags a quick stir, put the top on and leave to brew. When I eventually use the plunger I have a strong herbal mug of tea that has kept its heat. I have also used only one teabag and less water and the tea still remains hot.

I am really pleased with this teapot. Its nice and big - you can get 5 mugs of tea out of it. The volume means that there is plenty of space and heat to brew a good cup of tea. Guests have complimented us on our tea. We have noticed a surprising improve, meant in flavour over the same same tea brewed in our old teapot. It seems to keep the tea hot for ages too.Only downside is that the handle has been put on rather wonky. Could do with a bit better quality control at this price level.

I have been happily using mine for years and decided to give to to family as Christmas gifts this year. It is more expensive with the glass handle and stainless basket than the plastic one but I spent the extra because of my satisfaction with the higher end spec. I like that you can brew the tea and push the plunger down when it is steeped, isolating the tea in the barrel at the bottom, preventing the tea from steeping too much and becoming bitter before you are ready to pour more.

There is still nothing on the market quite like this Bodum tea press and I haven't come across anything superior. The glass design allows you to see what you are brewing, which is lovely, and the plunger mechanism ensures you have no detritus in your cup as long as you use 'proper' leaf tea rather than the nastier granulated sort. The tapered lip allows pouring without splashing everywhere - a common complaint - and its light weight makes it easy to carry even when full. Perfect.

First one arrived shattered but I got a refund and my second one arrived intact. I like it. The handle stays nice and cool and it pours well without dribbling all over itself even for small amounts. I find the plunger mechanism a bit cumbersome, partially because you have to hold down the slightly wobbly metal lid on top (which is hot) as you push it down. It does work though. The rubberised seal for the strainer unit is a good idea. I'd give it 5 stars if it was cheaper.
