We have always drunk lots of real tea, brewed in a pretty pot with 'named' loose tea leaves, and from matching pretty cups and saucers. There are such things as standards, you know. :^)One of my pet annoyances is tea running down the outside of a teapot from the spout after pouring a cup, leaving tea-stains wherever the pot is placed. Now no longer! This new one is drip-free!I am delighted to be able to confirm that this '1.2 litre' (but actually only 1 litre to the top of the infuser) 'La Cafetière Le Tea Pot' is the best tea pot we have used for several decades.. It pours beautifully, with no drips or runs from the lip of the spout. Amazing.. The handle is surprisingly easy to hold,even when the pot is full, and does not get too hot.. The glass and stainless pot does not flavour the tea.. It traps all the leaves in the cylindrical infuser (thousands of 0.5mm holes), even with fine dusty Darjeeling.. The funnel system means all the hot water added passes through the leaves, and any leaves that might be splashed up fall back into the central infuser where they came from.. It is very easy to take apart and clean, and the stainless bits will survive the dishwasher - but don't do this a lot with the bowl because the glass is soft and can be scoured by some cleaning products.. The infuser has a convenient little folding handle.. It feels secure in use, with no worry about the lid falling off or the bowl dropping out of the handle cradle. It fits our tea-cosies.I thought we might want to stir the tea (as usual) after the initial infusion, and this is possible, but only in the infuser. However, looking through the glass sides one can see that stirring is not often necessary, and either a couple of slow plunges of the tea infuser or a gentle swirl suffices - hmm, shaken not stirred.The styling fits well in a modern house, but even with our old-fashioned tea services it soon felt at home. After a couple of weeks of use we still like it, a lot.Recommended.Addendum 30th Sept 2012.It has been in almost daily use since we bought it, and the only deterioration we have noticed is that the glass of the bowl has begun to be eroded by the dishwasher, leaving the same faint swirl patterns as seen on some of our softer drinking glasses. The stainless steel parts are all still bright and clean. We are a loose leaf household, much to the chagrin of a visiting relative who is completely stumped without teabags, and made the permanent switch some years back when I gave my mum an expensive tea shop brand all glass teapot for Mother's Day- 3 years later that's been replaced twice and when the spout broke off the last replacement we said no more and looked for a more affordable and perhaps robust replacement and this was the one that we chose not just because it looks beautifully stylish suiting our modern kitchen but thanks to the metal housing offering a layer of protection against accidental clanging or heavy-handedness and the fact you can replace the inner glass bowl in case of accidents for far less than buying a replacement.The metal housing is a great layer of protection,there's no longer any wincing if my hubby is banging about near it and the housing offers a much more robust solution to the handle which DOES keep cool so you don't burn your hand when pouring- we found that there were often flaws in handles of the all glass teapots which would weaken over the time (from the heat?) so this reduces the risk of it just dropping off one day especially when pouring from it (true story).The bowl of the tea pot and the metal infuser are easy to remove for cleaning, I'm looking for replacement infusers as they do tend to stain overtime from the tannins and need a long soak, but these seem to be brand specific sizing so I can't use our old infusers (worth a point if like us you have smashed a few glass ones!) but this is not a reason to demote stars.I demote a star mostly because of the lid. It gets blooming hot when brewing, we used this as part of a birthday afternoon tea party and my 5 year old wanted to help and got a nasty shock (but luckily not a burn her reflexes saved her from that) from the lid before I could stop her- she knew the old teapots lids didn't get so hot plus the handle of this remains cool so it was a surprise that they didn't engineer a solution to stop the metal lid getting so dangerously hot- after all I've seen so many people pop a finger on the lid in the name of not sloshing everywhere when pouring from a teapot you would think this would've occurred to the designers.However these aren't dealbreakers, just things to be aware of, we love our new teapot it sits well in our modern style kitchen, it has enough room in both the pot and infuser to brew loose leaf well just be careful of that lid.

read a few reviews on this purchase as I always do, read people saying the lid knob was too hot to touch,I have not found this to be the case at all,yes it gets warm but no way is it too hot to touch,the water goes no where near the lid as the filter is below, with a clear gap between the two,whats more the lid doesn't even need to be held whilst pouring,so no problem there.I use loose tea and the basket is very good at holding the tea with only dust of the leafs getting through the mesh,which would be the case with all mesh holders,this seems to collect at the bottom of the pot rather than being poured into the cup,using a tea seive before getting this pot,it would let not just dust through but leafs too,so it is a marked improvement on that,tbh I blame the tea I use more than the pot as it's a supermarket bought organic tea, so will have dust present,if using rolled leaf tea then I would say nothing would get thought the mesh,the mesh and the pot are very easy to clean,thought some leafs might get stuck in the mesh but no problem there at all,the mesh holding the leafs can easily be removed when you have the brew as you want it, it has a little handle on it which is a nice touch,this too is not too hot to touch either and as it is nearer to the water,if anything would get too hot to touch it should be that.The pot holds around 2 mugs of tea,very good price for this as some I've seen are way more expensive,not really fair but I've only given this 4 stars as I would have preferred an all glass model(mesh excluded),so lost a star for looks but as said not really fair as I knew what it looked like before buying.

I had a black plastic 'le tea pot' for something like eight years, using it daily. A weak point in the plastic eventually led to its demise and I elected to replace it with the metal version. It has to be said, the plastic one was an excellent servant, if it did dribble a little when pouring. The metal version pours better,This is a wonderful teapot. The internal strainer keeps your tea free of leaves - it has a very fine mesh and copes superbly with all forms of loose tea, from the finely shredded commercial varieties to the much larger leaves of specialist or Chinese teas. The strainer in this metal version is also better positioned than in my original plastic one and, with its folding handle,makes the loading of tea leaves much easier (and cleaning easier too).The pot holds enough tea for two pint mugs - I do drink tea by the pint - so it is excellent for individuals or couples. The level of tea in the strainer means you need to add approximately one pint of water to ensure coverage of leaves, so adjust quantities to your taste.The teapot has proved easy to clean, easy to use, and makes an excellent cuppa. Given the eight years usage I had with the plastic version, I expect this to be a long-lasting investment, easily maintained, and resilient (the glass bowl allows you to see the depth of water and the density of colour of the tea you're brewing - and in years of regular but careful usage, I never chipped or cracked the glass).This is an excellent addition to the kitchen. Practical, of course, but a very stylish design, and an excellent balance, easy to pour, safe, and easy to use.

This is an excellent teapot at a great price. I am not a heavy tea drinker - but have been more since I received this. Brews very well, looks excellent, cleans easily. If there are remarks, then these are it:- it really is smaller than I imagined, but that has to do with 1200ml being less than I thought. So not loss of the five star rating there.- I noticed that there can be water between the glass and the inox construction around it - it is hardly noticeable. Just dry it upside down and that's solved. No loss of stars either.- But my biggest gripe is that the lid is difficult to remove to the point of being afraid that I would one day break it. Ok, it needs to stick on when pouring,but this is overdone. I suppose it is a problem with the one specific unit I have though and it is not enough to send it back. It is enough for me to remove one star.EDIT on 20111228: I took a point of the score because of the lid. A few days after I posted the initial review, the glass pouring tip indeed broke off while trying to remove the lid. I had done it a few times already and I guess I became a bit careless. Anyhow, I have written Amazon about it. They immediately sent me a replacement, which I received mere days later. The lid is far more easy to remove now - making it an excellent and well-priced choice.

This is a stylish teapot which would fit in any situation, thanks to its reflective silver and unassuming glass. The glass comes apart easily making the teapot easy to clean, so no unpleasant things accumulate between the metal and the glass, but not so easily that it comes apart on its own when pouring. It has the capacity for just enough tea to fill 4 mugs--a little on the small side, but good for everyday usage.The strainer is fine for most tea, such as looseleaf green, black, and jasmine tea, but the spindly Rooibos needles make their way through the holes. It's easy enough to just strain this again as it's being poured,as it's only a problem for one type of tea--though if you are an avid rooibos drinker you may want to consider buying a different strainer.I bought this teapot as a replacement for one I loved which was broken, and I've certainly come to love it as well.

It is a beautiful piece in the kitchen. I haven't tried it yet as it seems really small and thinking to replace it for a larger one. Would be nice to have a size in between 660 and 1200 ml as the latter one is too large.The product dimensions are wrong on the web (1.5 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm) but I guess everyone can understand it is 15x17 cm. Even so, it looks so tiny like I can hold it in my hands, enough for my morning tea but not for guests. That is my only comment, looks very pretty and good quality and details.I haven't tried how fine the mash is, I intend to use it to empty my teabag filters (which are treated with chemicals) and pour them into the strainer.I hope it is fine enough for that use.I will definitely love it even if I choose a larger version in the future.Delivery was quick and easy.

What can I say, I love this product. I think I'm one of the last of a dying breed, as no one else my age (26) seems to own a teapot anymore, but I happily identify myself a a tea snob, and if you use proper tea leaves this is the pot for you.The way it infuses is I think the key to it's brilliance....boiling water goes in, then the separate container with the leaves go in, water moves up through it so there is space between the leaves for the water to move around it and get full flavour. I did do some research and thought this would be best, I have nothing to compare it to except a regular teapot but the flavour definitely surpasses that.The glass is a nice touch as it allows you to see all the different colours that tea offers,and brew to your own strength. Makes 4 regular sizes cup.

I had a small 'standard' cafetiere for making my hibiscus tea at work. It was great, but collegues seemed to be unable to understand how it worked or how much to use. I ended up with all sorts of random drinks, or nothing at all, if they simply gave up trying.This one is easy for them to understand. Put a teaspoon of my tea in the strainer and fill it up with hot water. - job done. I get the added bonus of two cups of tea at the right strength.The well made stainless steel & glass pot looks particularly stunning on my desk when filled with the rich red of hibiscus tea, but I am sure 'normal tea' or indeed other herbal teas would also appear attractive in it. Many people have commented how nice,or special it looks. Well worth the price I paid.

This pot is really excellent. I love the way it all comes apart which makes it super easy to clean and it also means that if, like me, you don't like stewed tea you can also remove the tea leaves from the brew and still have another cup later without any change in strength. The fact it's in a clear glass container also means you can view the tea colour really easily so as to see how strong your tea is. The one, very very minor, gripe I would have is that it's a little on the small side. It's perfect for 2-3 mugs of tea so if there's only a couple of you then it's absolutely fine - after all who actually drinks tea from "cup" sized cups?If there were a bigger one I'd be tempted to buy another and have 2 in the house!

I have purchased this teapot over 6 months ago and am still excited about using it every time. The mesh is excellent, you would have to use very fine tea leaves. I love being able to see the colour of the tea through the glass so it never gets over-infused.There is no small issue I have with it - it's the little bulb on top of the metal cap. It gets amazingly hot when you brew tea (obviously) and it is impossible to hold it down when pouring tea into a cup.So if you don't mind using a tea towel when pouring tea this is an excellent product that I would recommend any time. I am actually thinking of getting another one for my office.- Matt

We first discovered these wonderful teapots in a cafe in York & ordered one from Amazon as soon as we got home as they are by far the best value for money. We got the stainless steel one as they seem to be the most reliable after reading other folks reviews. This makes the best cuppa ever and is perfect for 2 people as you get a second cup! We were so delighted with it that I got my dad one for christmas (he thought he already had everything he could want) - he loves it & great to get it delivered straight to his house. We daren't risk the dishwasher but every now & again it does need a deep clean. Would highly recommend.

I bought mine in 2009 and unfortunately dropped the beaker onto the floor. I think they have changed the design or suppliers as the replacement beaker did not fit the original holder. It was a much less spherical shape. So if your beaker is good don't drop it would be my 2 cents.The original one was almost perfect although cleaning the infuser very occasionally I was surprised that part was more sturdy than it appeared though I was still careful.The main and glowing feature of this pot/beaker was that it retained the heat! Almost as well as a thermos! No need for any cosy unless you like that sort of thing anyway.

I own a Bodum teapot of very similar design, which I like for a number of reasons but which has a few nasty flaws - mostly the filter design, and the plastic handle construction.I was going to purchase a similar one as a gift when I came across Le Tea Pot. Much cheaper than the Bodum in spite of good build quality, and with a far superior filter design (doesn't clog, easier to clean, strains with much less water) this was an obvious choice. I haven't used it myself but the recipient is delighted with her gift. Seriously considering buying one to replace my Bodum now.
