A very classy device with good build quality but some technical issues.I like my 9780 and i think it will serve me well.I wanted an unlocked phone with WiFi for an overseas job that would require multiple sim cards/operators. I don't like touch screens so my choice was limited to a few devices only.I am disappointed that Blackberry have attempted to force owners to purchase 'B.I.S' in order to access the devices main features. I think that these features should be accessible as standard as with every other manufacturer- Shame on you 'R.I.M'-you'll lose more than you gain! That said, you can trawl the internet and download applications to bypass the problem. Opera-mini browser is vastly superior to the 'R.I.M'offering and 'Logicmail' email client is functional but maybe not quite up there with the application it substitutes. Both are free and available for direct download-you can't even use 'appworld' without B.I.S,you have to do it directly! There is a shortage of V.O.I.P applications for Blackberry's. Even Skype is denied you due to a dodgy arrangement that limits the application to telkomsel or verizon handsets. You can get Skype though by direct downloading the IM+TALK application. One of the device features that will work without 'B.I.S' is the camera. It is superb, even in very low light! One thing i don't like is have to soft reset it occasionally to get onto the internet. This is not a toy phone so is unlikely to interest children or teenagers. If you want a communications device that looks great though, the 9780 could well be for you!I anticipate that my 9780 will serve me well and would recommend it to anyone patient enough to get it set up properly with the right applications. If you are on a single network you might decided to pay the extra £5/month for B.I.S. Only you can decide if having a Blackberry is worth an extra £60 more per year than other premium handsets. My view is that handsets from the likes of Nokia(among others) do all the same things for no additional premium. A curious way to gain market share that one! It's more likely to make users try the offerings of other manufacturers. So on with the review......It's a great device and i like it very much. It's well made and i anticipate good service from it. I love the camera! The manufacturer's policy of trying to force 'B.I.S' detracts from it's appeal which is a great shame because it's a good enough product for them not to have to do things like that. That sais you can get round it by downloading alternative applications-but why should you do that? You've paid your money for the device and you deserve better than that, surely.Read full review...

I had been using a Blackberry Curve 8520 for the last two years, and when I decided to upgrade, many friends recommended the Bold 9780. I like the Blackberry brand layout and the simplicity of the concept, and the Bold is the perfect embodiment of everything I look for in a phone. The call clarity is excellent - and it was very simple, using the Blackberry Desktop Manager, to transfer all of my settings and contacts from the Curve to the Bold. The rubber-touch buttons make texting and emailing a breeze, and the email accounts run super smoothly. The internet runs like a dream and the screen quality is excellent. For anyone looking for a phone that does everything you need a phone to do (as opposed to a personal entertainment device),the Blackberry 9780 is about as close as you can get to perfection. The great thing is, it helps me to keep everything organised, but doesn't distract me from my life. The one downside (and it's only a small one) is that the battery lasts about 2 days maximum (which is actually okay against today's standards). That and I had to import all of my Curve ringtones because there wasn't as much variety on the Bold. All in all though, a great phone and here's to another two years!Read full review...

i recentley bought the blackberry bold 9780. i was lucky enough to get this fairly cheap at £85..it was advertised as perfect condition though unfortunately the housing which was on the phone was all cheap fake plastic casing which was a shame but of course it did not affect the use of the phone so not a massive issue.it was really easy to use but felt quite basic and the software is quite dated compared to what we have today! i think this phone came out around 2010? though i may be wrong and runs on blackberry 6. the battery life was good and lasts around two days, the internet isint great but hey it works and if your a blackberry person this phone is fine for the money.you cant beat a blackberry for emails though i wouldnt pay over the hundred pound mark for this blackberry as i feel the software is to dated for a smartphone today though this is coming from a usual iphone user!overall..good value for money, does everything you would need and battery lasts well so at the money i paid a pretty good deal :)Read full review...

Great phone for business and personal use.5MP Camera with LED FlashRunning OS 6 and all Blackberry features including BBM and Blackberry App WorldQuick to connect to the internetGreat for social networking; Facebook, Twitter ETC.The battery has been used on mine so doesn't last too well but new batteries can last for days with constant use of phone.I bought this phone as I wanted to upgrade from my Nokia C3 but still wanted a QWERTY keyboard which is another great feature. For somebody who is familiar with technology, I have found this phone harder than normal to adjust to and learn how to use. Although this is expected of a phone with this much content. All round great phone for people withbusy lives as the Blackberry can be a great organizer and helps me a great deal with my job as I can easily access my emails and the internet. Great Phone.Read full review...

Having had a Blackberry bold for the past few years i upgraded and got the Blackberry torch.I am not a touchscreen fan and went back to the newer model of the bold the 9780 which is only slightly a higher spec but the advantage of the better camera and video features tells it all. This must be one of the best blackberries on the market, very user friendly, auto set up itself as i am with orange. Its never let me down and finally i have conviced the wife to have one also but shes kept her iphone too just incase she changes her mind.I can thouroughly recommend one of these to anyone, once you have found your way around it just like any new phone you wont regret it at all.10/10 from me on this one,HappyBlackberrying to all.

While there are a few physical changes to note from its predecessor, the big news is the addition of the BlackBerry 6 operating system. We've got the Social Feeds view, a new WebKit-based internet browser, Universal Search, a richer media experience and lots more besides. The camera has been bumped up to five megapixels from the 9700's three, while the chrome edging has been toned back to black or white and the faux leather has also been dialed down.Inside, things haven't undergone a major revision either, with one significant exception: the RAM has been doubled to 512MB from the 9700's 256MB.That's great news for the all-singing, all-multitasking new operating system.

Hi.This is my second Bold 9870 this year (last one was lost). I can't say much about it, as it is the only Blackberry I've ever used. The phone is great, it does exactly what is meant to do.Like:- Speaker is great (very loud), much better than on Iphone 4.- Small and light- Build quality is good- Prices on spares (casings, battery) are low and easy to replace- Coverage is awesome, never had any problem (even in hospital was working fine)- Best emailing experienceDislike:- Takes time to get used to Blackberry (if never used one before)- A bit slow (flicking between pictures, installing programs)- App world is not as great as in Iphone

I currently use a Curve model and bought the Bold as a second Blackberry, the most notable thing about it seems to be the battery life which quite frankly astounds me! otherwise I prefer to use my Curve, but I most certainly can recommend this Bold product, the only thing one can fault it with is that it appears to have been initially a Vodaphone offered model as opposed to absolutely brand new, i.e. never been allocated to a service provider!

i bought this phone for my 13 year old son as a christmas present, he was over the moon, it was the exact one he wanted...however not knowing much about mobiles myself it took ages to delete all the photgraphs, text messages, memory ect that the seller had unfortunately left on!!! We also didnt realise that we had to phone in and pay £5 a month for him to activate the bbm part [ my ignorance too] but now it is all sorted he is very happy.

Good phone, had a 9700 before but had the dreaded screen failure, but I did drop it, so, ho hum. Battery life seems random, sometimes it lasts for 4 or 5 days, other times it'll last only two before a recharge. Updating linked to PC is easy for diary, contacts, notes and photos. Camera is not hi-res like an iPhone but ok. Buttons easy to use, email good, BBM excellent. Not touch screen though.

I love this phone, and I'm still using it to this day. Has lasted me 2 years so far with no issues. The battery life is what makes me not move on unto another cellphone; its just excellent. It has everything I could ask for without the fancy over-the top apps that are easily replaceable with a laptop. Email and texting are easy with the QWERTY keyboard. I just love this phone! so easy to use.

Haven't played with the phone too much yet, but so far I've found that it does everything that i could think that i want it to do and much more, as well as the basics. This mobile phone definitely lives under the title of Smartphone, I've owned a lot of them and never had one which works and runs as well as this one, i would recommend for all age groups and requirements - it does everything!

This purchase was to replace my old Blackberry 5000 series. I have found this new phone to have a lot more features and very easy to use. I am very pleased I upscaled to this phone. Anyone who requires to keep intouch with emails will find this phone excellent. It also works very well in my car conecting via bluetooth. (VW Golf). So once agian perfect if you are out on the road working.

Originally purchased becuase of blackberry being the best for emails, social networking, browsing etcThe phone is great, small and easy to carry. The screen is small therefore only to read emails etc not for movies. This product is one of the best in its range. After using a torch it feels better to use a smaller phone that you can use quickly with no fuss.
