These fans I consider the best "all-around"/universal fans available. That mean, they could be used both in airflow and static pressure applications, and have best airflow/noise ratio.Noctua fans have (very slightly) better raw performance, but they are somewhat more noisy - at least in "perceptual" sense. Noctua fans (especially in latest China-made revision) have almost smooth blades and very sharp-edged plain square hub spokes - this creates pronounced "boop tone" at certain resonant RPMs, which (at least for me) are a lot more annoying than white noise of rushing air. While Silent Wings fans have very "ridged" structure on their blades - this creates more air turbulence and while it technically makes fan to lose some small amount of performance,it also makes noise spectrum almost all white noise, which is a lot easier for our brain to filter out and stop noticing even at moderately high fan RPM. Also Silent Wings 3 fans have aerodynamic-streamlined hub spokes, removing "impeller passing noise" (caused by blades pass the hub spoke at exact frequency). The only downside that SilentWings 3 have somewhat noisy PWM circuitry - you get "coil whine" noise, especially noticeable at low RPM when rest of fan is silent. At the contrast, Noctua fans have SCD PWM driver which completely silent - sadly seems that beQuiet still haven't implemented such tech. Also PWM control lacks smoothing - fan tries to change rotation speed instantly which causes other kind of "rumble" noises on abrupt RPM changes (e.g. when temperature spikes).Note that electronics noise disappears if you control fan by voltage. The only downside of voltage control I see that lowest rotation speed becomes ~450RPM while in PWM mode its ~200RPM. But I'd say it does not really matter - since fan is already 100% silent at 450RPM. So I'd recommend getting voltage control model and save money - but PWM model is still ok since it supports both control modes.Note that I've now tested 8 (6x 120mm and 2x 140mm) fans and they all exhibit same characteristics.Addendum circa Jan 2020:After changing to X570 Gigabyte Aorus Master motherboard (Previous was Asus Prime Z270-A), I don't notice PWM noise from fans anymore. So it might be motherboard dependent and you might or might not get it. Always worth trying PWM first to see if it suits you (it also looks like the price on PWM model often actually less then on 3-pin one).Another thing worth adding that these fans actually very electrically efficient - according to beQuiet own official spec sheet, single 120mm fan draws only 120mA current. This means you can drive even 4x fans from same standard 1A motherboard header no problem - no need for complex splitters with external power.

I have a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered Glass pc case(AWESOME looking case) which came with 3 140mm Phanteks fans(2 for the front, 1 for the rear), which i have now owned for 3 years. But one of the front fans has begun to make a sort of "pulsing" noise(which does get on your nerves) so it was time for a upfront change!.So i went for these Bequiet ones. With the Amazon free delivery(over £20 thing) they were delivered with in 3 days all away from Schkeuditz, Sachsen Germany! The installation of the fans was very easy, but i couldn't use supplied pins/screws as my case wouldn't allow, so i just used the long screws that were holding the Phanteks fans with the Bequit hard plastic mountings(whichhave rubber tube bits inside the screw holes so they also help with any vibration!)The wires were the right length for me to root them to the back of the case where there is a PWM Hub block that has a 4 Pin connection going to the MB and a SATA 12v input for power and 6, 3 pin fan connectors.I had my PC built from Chillblast(seen in the pic) so me installing a SSD and changing fans etc etc, was all new to me. But IMO not really hard to work out when doing it yourself!Anyway after everything was done and powering on the PC it was a surprise to me that these fans were going like mad with ALOT of noise ?. After looking at the MB fan speed via the Corsair Link program(thats for my H100i V2 water cooler) they were going at a constant 1200 rpm ?. So off to the ROG BIOS to have a play around in there to see whats what. I found that the Q-fan setting were set on DC, which explains the constant speed(must of been set like that when i had the PC made and i didn't know what i know now). IMO what is the point of that kind of speed when at idle or just browsing the net!. Anyway i discovered that i could change the setting from DC to PWN that instantly brought the speed down to around 940 rpm with a instant silence!. Plus at idle or browsing ALL the temps stayed low!. All that happens now is when there is more load on the system(i.e gets hotter) the fans speed up to aid for more cooling, which works great. I started up COD MW to test it out and everything worked greatSo now after changing the front fans i DO NOT hear that "pulsing" sound and everything is nice and cool5 stars(for the fans and for the Amazon delivery service)

Liked : Well packaged, well made, no bells and whistles but whisper quiet and good value.Good quality cableDisliked : Confusing corner mounts (it wasn't immediately clear why you'd choose one over the other) and cluttered multi-lingual instruction sheet. There are two sets of mounts provided. Both snap positively onto the corners of the fan, though to begin with I wasn't sure which I should use. For anyone else who's puzzled this is what I gathered : the mounts referred to as 'Anti Vibration fittings' (the less chunky set) offer better vibration damping and work well in a situation where you can fit screws into the fan from the outside of the case (or other housing). They have subtly different length ends so its important to fit all 4 the same way round. They are marked L at one end and S at the other. The 'L' end gives a 1mm clearance from the case - to further reduce vibration - whereas the 'S' end brings the fan flush with the case. The fittings referred to as 'Hard Plastic' (the chunkier ones with a tube through the middle) can be snapped onto the fan corners either way up. They offer less vibration damping but I had to use them for the front mounted case fan which was screwed into the front panel using long screws right through the fan mounts from behind (ie. not short screws through the front grill!) if that makes sense. The info you need is there, it just took me a minute or so to realise that one side of the A4 instruction sheet referred to the anti-vibration fittings and the other to the 'hard plastic' fittings. Then another minute or two to work out which to use. Maybe just getting old ;-) Perhaps there's another reason for the difference between the two types of mount, but this setup worked for me.If you do screw up and snap the wrong fittings on, or get one of the anti-vibration ones the wrong way round the instructions show how to depress the catch with (eg) a small screwdriver and slide the fitting off. Its fiddly but quick and easy.

I wanted a new black fan to match my case and I’ve used Silent Wings 2 before so I ordered this fan as a payday treat. I actually thought I’d ordered the high speed version but it the the standard speed fan. Due to having no patience I still installed the fan rather than replacing it. So far I’m still really impressed.I wanted this specifically as an exhaust fan. I spent hours and hours researching the air flow, air pressure and noise of most of the fans on Amazon. It has got to the point where I have nothing I can realistically (in terms of sensible cost) upgrade so I might as well have the right fans in the right places. The result of my research was that this isn’t the best fan for the job but it is black.Which, in hindsight, should probably have been my starting point. The fan arrived in fancy packaging with several attachments. Installing it was easy as any fan. The black screws are a really nice touch. In terms of performance it moves a fair bit of air and at full speed you just can’t hear it. I’m giving this 5 stars as it delivers on the performance and silence it promises whilst being a premium fan. However, for my use it was a mistake to buy. As the quietest fan in the case I won’t get the benefit from it unless I change all my fans to these. There are plenty of cheaper case fans that move the same amount of air and are only slightly louder.Next time I’ll go with Silent Wings 2 again for half the price and slightly more noise that I won’t notice. That or Noctua P12 redux 1700 again which has better airflow, better air pressure and still very quiet. If only it was black!

Getting a consistent fan that's quiet at all rpms, without ticking or other noises is very difficult. The Silent Wings 3 is one of those great fans. I've got a few and they're all very good with no annoying ticking or buzzing. At extremely low rpms they can grind/tick, but that's almost right at stall speed. For this reason you're best using proper fan control, rather than let software auto-control where the software can sometimes hang around that stall speed. The reason for this is these fans run at a lower rpm so in 'quiet' mode the power from the auto-control can be a little too low.Bundled with the fan are two sets of rubber insulators. One for screws, and one for completely isolating the fan with rubber. You'll be familiar with this if you've used Noctua fans. However, unlike Noctua where the rubber 'pin' is super annoying to use - it's super easy with the Silent Wings fans.

Bought this to introduce fresh air into our outdoor sauna cabin, wood burning stove type... fitted into the wall behind the chimney and halfway up.The fan and it's speed is managed through a miniature 12Vdc motor control... the fan is soooooo quiet at half speed which is all that is necessary to draw in fresh air. This incoming fresh air is heated by the rising heat from the sauna stones, giving us all the fresh (hot) we need.Air for the wood burner is of course is a vent/duct in the floor, NOT through this upper inlet vent.Great fan, quality made and perfect for this job. The fan body is ''inside" the 90mm Kingspan insulation board so is no where near the risingsteam - wouldn't last long in that!Aluminium ducting brings the fresh air through the wall... the fan motor is in the relative (outside) dry and cold atmosphere, so should last many years.

What a difference these make. I brought a corsair h100i v2 a few months ago for 2 reasons 1, I thought it'd be kinda cool to have, and 2, everyone was saying water coolers were quiet.Well 2 was rubbish, as the stock fans made a right old racket. Yes I made a custom curve but even on low speeds they made a terrible grinding sound. So after reading some reviews went with these, BL064's. Went for the low rpm fans, which yes might not push a grand amount of air compared to others, but now I can barely hear my case when gaming. Compared to the constant up and down spinning I had before, and no grinding sound when on lowest rpm.Wasn't sure how to fit the wired pin connectors, but the screws from corsair fans and the snap in connectors worked fine.Note. You can hear them on max speed, but it's comfortable compared to the nonsense the corsair fans delivered.

Woah, this thing absolutely pummels are through your system!! And it's quiet as a whisper, except with mine when it's going slowly, it sounds like it's catching, oddly - considering there's nothing for it to catch on.Compared with the same size 140mm Corsair fan, it really pushes a lot of air through, you can feel the difference and the build quality feels like it's worth the money, it doesn't feel cheap, like some other fans I've had. Some are built to look nice, and have LED's etc - this is built to last and do what it says. I was/am really tempted to look at the BEQUIET case's - I've got a Dark Rock 3 CPU cooler and it's fantastic, the rubber mounts and rubber around the outside of the fan make it feel like a solid bit of kit.Impressive - definitely worth the money when compared to other fans in the same price category.

A few years ago I purchased a be quiet PSU and was extremely pleased with it so when looking at fans for my cpu radiator I went for this one. Again be quiet have excelled. I can't, yes can't hear this fan at all, even at load. I have to check system monitor to see if it is on.It is as it says very, very, very quiet. This is due to the fan blade design, the blades aren't flat which allows air passing through to be broken up, Gigabyte use the same technology on their gpu coolers. Not giving a tech. lesson but the idea comes from bird's of prey's wings which splay feathers at the wing's end to break up air and thus hunt silently.Excellent product, a little pricey but hey - silence is golden.

Bought to replace the fan that came with my case, which wasn't too bad but didn't have PWM control, so it wouldn't run any slower than about 400rpm.This fan has PWM so it can be controlled very accurately down to very low speeds, and it is completely silent up to about 700 rpm. Any faster than that and you get a not-unpleasant quiet wooshing noise. Mine is only set to go above 700 rpm when my CPU goes above 75 degrees, so it never happens during normal operation, even when gaming.Coupled with a similar BeQuiet CPU cooler, my PC is now totally silent 99% of time - the loudest thing in it is the NVMe drive ?

They are really quiet at 100% ( 950 rpm )But at lower rpm they have a rattle hence the Fluid Dynamic Bearing, close to rifle bearing but much better. The screws that came with the fan were not compatible with my case ( fractal R5 ) and had to use my case screws that came with, but had to use the anti-vibration pads or how you call it and force them into it.Pro- Very quiet at full speedNice designGood qualityPWM 4 pinCon- rattles at lower rpmIncompatible screws

I looked at a lot of fans and opted for the high speed 140mm silent wings 3 fans from be quiet! The fans come with two types of corner attachments - plastic and anti vibration. The instructions are quite simple, but the fans are too notch. Very quiet when not being pushed at full speed. They're well made and easy to install too. Very happy.

Great fans all-round, only thing that annoyed me was the inability to easily attach this to my dark-rock 3 cooler. Hasnt the same connection as the PWM fan that came with the cooler that allows the metal wire to clip it over the back or front. Had to jerry-rig it slightly in the end. Still the fan is excellent and functioning as expected

...that they come in 3 AND 4 pin variants. It's clear on the description, you just need to read it carefully(Unlike me!)I do media creation. When I used to conform/apply effects/render etc, my PC sounded like a hurricaneNot any more - silence is goldenHighly recommended

14.2.2019

I replaced my Fractal Design GP-14, which was the loudest component in my PC with beQuiet! SW 3 140mm. The difference is like day and night. My computer is now completely silent. 10/10 would buy again. :)
