I bought this fan to replace the noisy one included in an old HDD IDE rack I need to use (the cheap supplied fan has become unbearably noisy due to dust after just a few months of everyday use, unfortunately...).This was the first time I bought a Noctua fan, even if I knew this is one of the highest-quality brands of silent fans, and although some people might think this specific kit is overpriced for a small 40x40x10mm fan, I can assure you that the packaging and the accessories included in it are worth the price of the product alone! The fan itself is almost completely inaudible outside of a case, especially when used at reduced speed, which can be obtained by using the clever low-noise adaptor: a small, inconspicuous cable extension, which goes between the fan connecting cable and the power source connector, and lowers the rotating speed from 4500 to 3700 rpm; by the way, the air flow produced even at reduced speed seems considerable anyway, in my opinion. But the most amazing aspect of this product are the supplied accessories included in this gorgeous kit: apart from some typical, high-quality metal screws, you get professional silicon pins, which can be used to mount the fan screwlessly in order to reduce vibrations, an extension cable, an adaptor cable to convert from 3 to 2 power pins, and the most wonderful adapter of them all: the incredible OmniJoin adaptor set, which includes an extension cable ending with 2 truncated red/black power wires, and four _amazing_ "crimp-like" connectors, which allow you to join the truncated power wires to any other corresponding wires coming from _any_ appropriate fan power source inside the PC, _without even having to remove the insulation from the cables_ (!).Basically, in case you want to attach this fan to any "custom" connecting cable with a connector that does not fit any of the included adaptors, you can just cut the connector off of your available custom power cable, and join the resulting truncated black/red wires with the corresponding truncated ones from the Noctua OmniJoin adapter, "crimping" (pressing) the red/black power wires together using 2 of the 4 omnijoint proprietary connectors with flat-nose pliers (not included). If this sounds complicated, actually I assure you it is not, and everything is explained in extremely clear instructions with detailed figures included in the kit, of course. It is a _very_ clever and professional alternative to just "splicing" power cables together with insulating tape, in my opinion! In the future, I will definitely try more Noctua products like this one, in case I need to attach a fan to a custom power cable, hoping they will work with no problems... (Please note that I have _not_ tried the omnijoint connectors, since I do not need them for my specific connector, luckily.)So, all things considered, in my opinion you _definitely_ get what you pay with this amazing product, and I just hope the fan will last for a long time!

I have purchased several Noctua fans of varying types and sizes and was really happy to see that they also make a range of 40mm PWM fans. I purchased the NF-A4x20 fan to replace the fan on an Icy Dock MB996SP-6SB internal 6 bay SATA enclosure. The fan on the enclosure is not only very noisy, but can only be controlled with a switch on the rear of the enclosure and only be set to High, Medium or Off altogther.Like most other Noctua fans I've purcahsed, the packaging is really well designed and the box contains a number of extra bits such as an extension cable, low noise adapter, splitter cable and a few other bits.Installing this fan was a little more involved as I needed to open the Icy Dockenclosure to disconnect the existing fan and as that fan was only 10mm deep I needed some different screws to mount the Noctua fan which is 20mm deep. Now that the fan is installed and connected to a PWM header on my mother board I can control the speed with software. At 2500 RPM (50%) the fan is completely silent and only can be heard slightly when running at 100%.It's a great fan and I'm very happy with it. Although I really like Noctua's products I'm not so keen on the colour scheme, however as this fan is concealed away in my PC and can't be seen then it doesn't bother me at all.

I bought this as a replacement for the stock fan on the Ouya and very pleased with it. It comes in upmarket packaging, with velcro on the front and back that allows you to see the contents. For a fan, there's a lot of extras with it, including some rubberised grommets that are designed to reduce vibration and noise but the best thing is the clever Omni Join system. Although lots of different power connectors are included in the package, the Omni Join connectors (4) allow you to quickly connect any existing connector to the fan by simply cutting the plug off the original fan and attaching the wires to the Omni Join and pushing down to make a connection.Simple and very effective - genius idea!It took about five minutes to install and get working, wasn't sure if it was working at first as it was very quiet. Stripping the Ouya open shown the fan not working so I tested it under load so I could see if it was working. Once it had got warm, the fan indeed did kick in, and while not silent, it was certainly a lot less noise than the original so I'm quite happy with it.Expensive, but worth it for such a high quality, almost silent fan.

I got hooked on Noctua products 2 years ago when i built a beast of a PC cooled by 2 140mm Noctua fans and one of their crazy NH-D14 heatsinks.Straight away their products impressed me due to their exceptional performance and relatively low noise. This 40mm fan did initially disappoint me as it was noisier than the stock fan on my PulseBox media center, but once i added the Low Noise Adapter to slow the fan down to 3700rpm it was virtually silent. Temps only increased by 2 degrees from stock fan but i'd rather that than a noisy fan. Would be 5 stars if the temps would have kept the same or lowered but still a great purchase and still loving Noctua.

The fan is extremely quiet, and comes with accessories including a low-noise adaptor (to reduce RPM), extension cable, various socket adaptors, and mounting screws. Everything, from the fan itself to the accessories and packaging, have a premium build quality. I've used several Noctua fans over the years, and all have been extremely quiet and reliable: in my experience, Noctua make the best computer fans, by far. A pair of these 40mm fans made a good replacement for the noisy stock fans in a network switch.

What an amazing difference between this and the original fan in my device. I used it to replace a fan in a CCTV box and now I cannot hear the device at all before it had a very loud fan noise. It has been in there over a month constantly on and no issues. The box is not over heating and it is silent even when you are closePackaging for the fan is excellent with lots of different cables and mounting options. Not cheap but if you want to get the job done and done right this is the way to go

I've now fitted two of these fans to my Ender 3 Pro - one for the hot end, and one for the motherboard. It's a bit inconvenient that the Ender 3 uses a 24v PSU, but with a buck converter to take the voltage down to 12v, this is a great mod for the printer that really reduces the noise over the factory fans.Greta quality packaging and brilliant range of connectors and accessories from Noctua. I was surprised that they give so many cables and attachments with such a small fan.

I bought two of these to replace the fans in a Netgear router, one had failed and the other was very noisy. These are very high quality fans very well made. They are completely silent as far as I could tell - with my ear right next to them the only thing I could hear was the air being moved.Supplied with a great selection of connectors and fittings too.The rubberised corners of the fans where they are fastened with screws is a great touch.

Used to replace the loud fan in my reolink rln8-410 Nvr. Chose this fan as it come with extension leads, 3 to 2 pin adapter and a noise reducer (which I just think half's the fans speed). Simple to fit and although I can hear fan, it is much less high pitch and unlike old one I cannot hear it when a meter away. I'll try fitting speed reduce cable when I get 5 minutes. Wish price was alittle cheaper is my only moan.

The accessory kit for this little fan was impressive. Screws, rubber nubbins, adapter cables, extension cables, the works. The noise level was pretty standard though, I wouldn't say it was especially quiet unless you compared it to a broken fan or something that moves a lot more air.Mine lasted 14 months of continuous use before the bearing went and no amount of lubricant would bring it back.

I wish that I could replace all my fans with Noctua ones! They are absolutely outstanding, & the only drawback is that when you first use them, they are so silent that you have to look at them to check that they're actually on. You'll be absolutely amazed & they've made a world of difference to my 3D printer, which used to sound like a big airliner taking off.

When they say "whisper quiet" they aren't joking. Unless I stand so close I'm at risk of getting my noze caught in the blades, I can't hear them. I don't even use the quieting converter that they ship with.My breathing sounds louder to me. And despite what some would say, they work really well for a 3D printer like the Ender 3. I have had 0 heat creep issues.

If you know notctua then theres no point reading this review. But for anyone else This will probably be the best fan you will find. Near silent, high air flow, amazing packaging. This is my first noctua fan but i know their reputation but seriously their reputation is nothing compared to the actual quality of their fans perfect for my 3D printer

A fan is a fan! Well you will be pleased to see what has to be a design that so much care has been taken on it. The box it comes in (product) is very informative and then you spot all the extras that come with it for various mountings. Truly stunning to have. Absolutely this is worth every penny and so is the Highly Recommended. Andrew.

Great fan, really quiet. Replaced the stock fan in my DNS320L with this and wasn't disappointed. Reading through the back of the box shows you what they have done to improve the fans design and theoretically it seems sound. Or doesn't sound as the case is. Very quiet, decent air pressure and flow and bought another for my Dad's NAS
