I bought this fan as a replacement for a fractal R2 silent series fan that had it's bearings start to fail. The fan itself is excellent, it's both quiet and pushes a decent amount of air through the system. However fractal, why make the cables so short? I bought an addition R2 fan a few years ago and the cable is significantly longer and I personally think the braided cable looked nicer than the flat style one on the R3. It's lucky I had a cable extender as It would not have reached the closest motherboard header from the front fan mount on my fractal R2 arc midi case and I think this will be a problem for a lot of people's systems. Otherwise it's a great fan for a good price.

Small, effective, silent'ish.I purchased this one to go into a assistive fan position which is located near the IO shield of a motherboard, this is placed inside a housing called a thermal armour in some Asus motherboards. The only thing I added was a cut to size dust filter screwed into it.Ive been using the R series from fractal for a while, the only drawback is that at around two maintenance cycles (dust cleaning off of the fan etc..) you will need to oil them else they screech like hell. Problem is thers no simple easy way to do this, but its achievable non the less. Hence they get 4 stars.

I bought this to attach to the heatsink of a "fanless" video card which was getting rather hot regardless of being advertised as not needing a fan. With a Fanmate to slow it down to about 2000RPM it is almost inaudible and keeps the video card about 40 degrees cooler than it was before. Most fan cooling designs seem to assume you need an air blast like a jet engine to keep something cool, when in fact all you need in most cases is a good heat sink and a gentle flow to keep it supplied with cool air.

I bought these as replacement fans for my Fractal Design case as the original ones were starting to become noisy (worn bearings). These work great and are very quiet.Although they are the newer version of fan compared to the ones I had originally in my case (R2) I did notice that the cables were a fair bit shorter that the originals. It didn't cause a problem for me but it might for some users and you may need some fan extension cables.

Does the job nicely. Noticeably reduced sound and still provides a decent shift of heat from the PC (using it as a second fan on a Thermalright True Spirit 90M CPU cooler).Good delivery (Amazon still thinks it's on its way, but I've already installed it and have been using it for half a day now). Great value for money. Definitely thinking of buying another and going all-out Fractal in my Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX case ;)

The addition of a case fan did make a noticeable increase in fan noise as I expected, but as this is a three pin fan there is no way of controlling it's speed from the motherboard based on temperature of load. I recommend that the fan be used in conjunction with the Zalman Fan Mate 2 Variable Fan Speed Controller, or the similar Gelid Solutions Fan Speed Controller.

I use 4 of these in the same case without the dropping resistors and all I can hear is the CPU and graphics fans.A very good way of keeping down the noise but not reducing cooling ability.I wish these would team up with CPU cooler and graphics card designers for a really quiet PC without going for water cooling.

Decided to buy one of these for my Fractal Design Core 2300 for better handle of the summer temperatures and can only say I'm very happy with my choice.I notice no extra sound coming out of my machine and the airflow is now much improved as I was still only using the two fans that came with the case.

Got 3 of these to use in my Fractal Design R5 White case. They look great, are silent and look very similar to the ones supplied with the case, the only difference being that the ones supplied with the case have less, albeit larger blades. Considering the price, these are a great choice.

This fan is silent. It has a 3 pin connector. It has no mark of which direction the airflow is but i can tell you it comes out of the side with the sticker on. This is a great replacement and the airflow is fine for me. I had to convert it to a 2 pin which was fine and easy to do.

Is fairly quiet, I have it blowing on to my motherboards VRMs and can barely hear it running, which is nice because a lot of little fans like this tend to make a high-pitched whiney kind of noise.Only wish for this fan is that it was PWM as opposed to the 3-pin connector

Very quiet fan which pushes a decent amount of air. These ones didn't have a whine, buzz or hum when mounted either horizontally or vertical. Also looks great.Cable was a little short so make sure to measure the distance from the fan mount to the fan header.

Great fan, so little noise I had to check to see if it was even running. Uses a 3 pin connector block, see http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-F9-PWM-Rev-2-Controlled/dp/B00H3SVWF4/ref=pd_cp_147_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1KSW90A0GS7TGGHKJDR1 for the 4 pin model.

Good looking and quiet fan. to replace one whose bairings were getting noisey. Easy to fit using original screws.(just make sure it is blowing in the same direction when fitted as the old one .) Been running for a six months now no problems.

This is a good fairly quiet fan that does the job nicely, I have this mounted on a HI-FI cabinet with a variable voltage control to adjust the speed and I'm pleased with the result, only one problem....I should have purchased 2 of them.
