I never normally bother leaving a review but I felt I should as this product has some pros but also some cons. And with things like case fans these need to be addressed.First of all. Fitting the damn things. I don't know who at corsair thought it would be a good idea not to pre thread the screw holes. You have to thread them with the screws which if you are like me and don't have an electric screwdriver is a pain and requires a fair bit of effort. The amount of pressure I put on the fans doing it, I was convinced I was going to break them, and turned a ten minute job of fitting four fans into a 1 hour job. So keep that in mind.Appearance is stunning. I got mine in blue and they match perfectly with my case. The leds are not in the fans blades but are around the interior wall of the fans, and the lighting effect is how it is in the pictures. Genuinely love the look of these. And the biggy. Noise. This is a bit of an odd one. At low RPM's they are super quiet, like. Practically silent, and around the 1,100 mark is when they become slightly audible. But still perfectly fine. However for some odd reason. When they spin up to full wack, it's like the second coming is happening inside your case, they are insanely loud. If you plan on connecting them using molex and having them on full power all the time avoid these fans as they are deafing. Like genuinely absurdly loud, I had stock fans in my case before which weren't the quietest things in the world but they are nothing compared to the racket these things make. However if you are like me and have a fan controller (which i absolutely recommend purchasing, I bought an NZXT sentry 3 and it's perfect for my needs) which means they never really go over 70% speed anyway, these fans would be good for you.Overall. These fans are great. They are a faff to get fitted, and without the right equipment it sounds like a tornado is blowing through your case, but if you have the ability to control their speeds to turn them down a notch they are perfect. Plus. They have lights. Who doesn't like things with lights

I bought two AF140 LED fans to go into the top space on my Corsair Obsidian 450D. This case already had two 140mm fans at the front and one at the back and with it being a big case I wanted to extract warm air as quickly as possible. The case is the windowed version and i bought the red led version of these fans and they look superb inside the case casting a nice red glow across the components inside. The fans, as you would expect from Corsair, are of a high quality - they come with 4 mounting screws and a fairly long cable. As previously mentioned, my case is quite big and I actually bought the following extension cable Akasa AK-CBFA01-30 30 cm PWM Fan Extension Cable as some reviews said thefan cable was very short however I didn't use the extension at all as I connected them both to the following Akasa AK-CBFA04-15 PWM Fan Splitter Cable for 2 Fans and then onto the 4 pin connector on the motherboard. In use, and this is playing Battlefield 1, they don't sound too loud - louder than idle but then they are shifting huge amounts of air and being 140mm fans they run slower anyway so not as loud as they could be! However they are NOT silent so don't buy these expecting them to be.For reference I'm running a 4790K cpu with EVO 212 cooler and two fans, R9 270X, 3 HDD, 2 SSD, 16GB ram - so quite a bit of kit in the case. My cpu temps are 28 degrees idle and 60 degrees stressed and case temps are 23 degrees idle and 24 stressed - this is in a room with an ambient temperature of 22 degrees so I'd say overall these are doing a great job of extracting the air from the case.If you have found this review helpful, please let me know by hitting the “helpful” button! or if you have any questions then feel free to ask :)

Edit: I did not know this at the time of my first review, but the fans can also be configured using using my bios.On Asus motherboards it's called Qfan tuning. This method works well but still isn't quite as good as using the fan suite 3 software as you can test different settings whilst in the OS, which saves a lot of time and restarts.Because of this I've changed from 4 stars to 5.They are very nice fans for the price but need some tweaking for those who like a quiet PC.Original review below:I have an Asus Maximus Hero VII motherboard and I had to install the AI suite 3/fan expert 3 software in order to gain full control of the fans rpm settings.Make sure to run the fan tuning option when prompted after you first install the AI suite 3 software and run fan expert 3,otherwise it can't detect the full range of rpm the fans are capable of. Personally, I set the fans to RPM fix mode and found my sweet spot of around 650rpm for noise and performance. Do all your fans then save your profile and it should automatically start with windows. There is also a widget that gets installed with the software, but you can just right click the AI suite 3 icon in the task bar and uncheck Asus mini bar to get rid of it.Note: Using fan expert 3 will also change your cpu fan settings when running the fan tuning option. So you will have to re-adjust the fan curve if your cpu temps go up. I had to do this but it was very easy to correct.

I recently upgraded my stock case fans for my Corsair 300R case with these and I have been happy enough so far. They are relatively quiet, although not noticeably moreso than the originals, and have helped to drop the average temperatures in my PC by around 2 or 3 degrees centigrade. While actually cooling the PC is the primary focus when choosing case fans, and this is seemingly done well, I am not a fan of the bright blue LED (however, this is personal taste and I am sure that many of you reading this review would actually see these lights as being a positive feature. While I cannot begrudge Corsair for these lights (as they are one of their defining features),I would have liked to have been given the option to flick them off if I so desired. After a few Google searches, it appeared to be the case that my only way of stopping the lights would be to cut the light cable and tape it up securely. This is not something that I would like to have to do as I wouldn't want to risk cutting the wrong wire, and resale value would drop if I did chop it. Oh, and it could be dangerous or something. So ultimately:+ The fans are pretty quiet+ Very cost effective if you do purchase the two pack+ Helps for decent airflow+ Blue LEDs (positive for some)- Cannot turn LEDs off.If I have made any errors or have missed anything out, please let me know with a comment and I will adapt my review to reflect this.

Corsair are a great brand and in all honesty I was expecting these fans to be as good as they are. I originally tried the red led fans but found the colour to be a bit obtrusive, especially at night. But the purple version I found much better. Rather than lighting up they instead spin up with a softer and more pleasant glow, whilst maintaining a striking lighting effect. The fans themselves are top notch. Shift loads of air at comfortable noise levels. I've optimised them to be totally silent when performing everyday tasks on my pc however, depending on the style of your case fan grills, you may hear a windshear effect. Also I found that installing silicon washers actually made them even more silent. One thing to note is that the more expensive non led version of these af120 fans actually come with rubber screw-hole inlays which significantly reduce vibrational noise, however you could, like me, save some money by spending an extra pound on silicon washers which pretty much achieve the same thing.Overall I can't recommend these fans enough. They push (or pull) a great deal of air through my case and do so whilst looking great and remaining silent.

I bought one of the blue AF140-LED fans (Quiet edition) for the back of the case, so that the inside components would be more visible through my case's tinted side panel. The effect is subtle and pleasing.Based on what others had said, I was worried that the blue LEDs would be too dim but, while they are slightly less bright, they could not be described as dim. My PC lives under a desk, where it is fairly dark, and the blue LEDs make the PC more than just a machine.I went for blue because my PC Case (Fractal Design Arc Midi R2) has a distinct blue LED power-on indicator. They match well.I like my machine to be quiet, and on 5V I can't hear the fans at all.(I currently have three fans inside - two Fractal Design fans and the Corsair one. The third Fractal Design fan that the Corsair replaced I have repositioned to the front but I didn't have a fan adapter to hand so it is not connected yet. However, I don't think it is likely to make the machine more audible at each voltage setting.I think it highly likely that I will add a couple more of these fans to the front of the case, and only have the fractal design fans at the top.

Really impressed with these Corsair fans from the nifty looking box to the way they work. The box comes with 2 fans packed fairly tightly together and two small bags of screws. My case has special clips so i didn't need to use the screws, but they look easy enough to put in. The small cable has a 3 pin connector so won't be able to use the variable burst on newer motherboards and has to use the standard DC fan management. This is fine as you can use an app like SpeeFan or Asus' own Motherboard software in Windows to manage speeds. At low speeds (up to 500rpm) the fans make hardly any noise, rising to about 22db at the top speed of 1500rpm, which you'd only need for pretty intense gaming on hefty graphics cards that produce a lot of heat.Mine are running on an average of 600-800rpm with a gentle fan sound. The red glow is great, especially if you haven't got any lights in your case already. Even with existing lights these help to brighten things up. Just remember to add them the right way around for the airflow (pulling air in through the front and out through the back and top).

For those who want a quick answer as to whether to buy these or not, yes just buy them.Performance:These fans are fantastic for performance. I used to have zalman fans on my case that would push air like someone blowing through a straw. Corsair AF120 made a hige difference. I combined these two with two SP120's and i reduced my GPU, and CPU temps by 5 degrees celcius.Looks:Oh yes they are very pretty. I am a lover of all things purple and these work great in a black pc case. Be aware they are not overly bright but do give a nice purple glow out of the vents of the pc.Price:My friends all agreed that the price i paid for these were very cheap compared to most high end case fans and these are only slightly weaker in performance than seriously high end case fans. Therefore if you're after bang for buck, good looking fans these are the ones you will want. One big downside... I still dont understand the screws they sent. They didnt seem to be noise dampening screws like most fans and they were too thick for my pc case. Thankfully have a tool box full of screws.

(Plugged in directly to power supply)2 stars. Pushed out plenty of air, but were very loud. I had to unplug them after 5 minutes of use because their level of sound production hugely out-weighed the few degrees cooling benefit in my rig. These are the furthest things from "Quiet". Little bit disappointed in Corsair...(Plugged in to motherboard with a splitter)Much more pleased with the level of sound - with headphones on, I cannot hear a difference in sound at all. Still not extremely quiet, but much more acceptable than when plugging them straight in to the power supply - I advise anybody looking to build a quieter system to make sure they can plug these in to their motherboard either to a spare fan header or with a splitter. All these lower starred reviews I would probably think have plugged these fans in to the PSU directly and experienced, like me, the fans constantly at full blast. The fans, now plugged in to my motherboard, are at a comfortable noise level and keep my system a good 5-10 degrees cooler. Upgrading my star rating from a 2 to a 4.

EDIT -I turned the fan speed down in my Asus motherboard Bios from "turbo" to "quiet", and now the fan is a lot less noisy, although by no means silent...Also this fan has ensured "Far Cry 4" stops overheating and shutting down my PC, as it has reduced temps by about 15% to 20%...before I had constant temperature-related shutdowns...So I am increasing the noise score from 6 to 8- and the overall score from 8 to 9.Original review below.********A) 10 out of 10 for looks and ease of installation.B) 8 out of 10 for no Molex connector- but luckily I found a 3-pin header labelled "CASE FAN" on my Motherboard...be sure to look on your Motherboard CAREFULLY...my 3-pin header was tucked away under the Intel CPU fan...C)6 out of 10 for "Quietness" - it certainly isn't quiet! I'm sure it's louder than the cheaper ones I had before, although...more noise likely means more air being pushed through, which means a cooler PC I guess...?Overall - 8 out of 10. If you want quiet, look elsewhere and possibly pay more (?)

The fan hasn't yet disappointed me the slightest. It looks good and does a great job of keeping the temperature cool. Since the expensive/ cheap case fan doesn't have a huge impact on the temperature difference whilst gaming or using it day to day basis, having the RGB lighting gives you a great touch of gaming PC that you might have wanted. The noise level isn't too bad, as it's not loud compared other products I've used. I got an average of 60 dB when browsing and 67 when gaming (Note I have a GTX 1070 ti and AMD stock cooler which also plays a huge role in keeping the pc nice and cool). Realistically if you're using headphones you wouldn't notice the difference.Unfortunately,it only has 1 RGB color/color pattern, that you can't control how/ what pattern you want to see.Pros- Looks great on your system.- Does its job well.Cons- Lights only have 1 color/ patternProduct Recommendation-- Definitely, I love the vibe it gives to my desktop and the price you get it for is quite a catch.

I was looking for extra case fans and Corsair was always my first choice for this new build. These are great for the price and they light up...who doesn't want am RGB driven case these days.I was unsure if they were official fans because of the price but it was all light. The box/packaging was great, veey neat and tidy with 3 fans and 3 sets of screws.I installed only 2 and it was simple to do. The only issue I had was making sure I had enough case fan connectors on my motherboard. After installing the fans and new 2070 SUPER GPU, it was time to fire it up. Everything powered up and ran normally. I went into the BIOS to reconfigure the fans to make sure they had all be recognised. They were load to start as the fan spokes are big,but unless the system was over heating then I'm sure you'd notice the difference in how loud they can be.The white LEDS from the fans are very bright and depending on the fan speed determines the brightness.Overall I'm really pleased with these fans.

I already own 2 of these which I used to replace the intake fans on my rig. They work absolutely fine.I bought this third one to replace the standard exhaust fan which came with my case, and have found that on the low-power fan setting, it seems to have a bit of shake which is enough to catch your eye when you look through the window on my case. On full power however it is a full-blown beauty so perhaps it is just the low fan option on my case - could be providing an inconsistent amount of power, who knows. The purple is definitely a PURPLE and not the sort of pink dipped in ass or the blue in disguise which is usually the case when you buy something labelled 'purple'.The LEDS are great and on both fan settings the sound is perfectly fine.Only thing that let me down a little was the shake on low power, as it was one of the reasons I replaced the standard fan, but can't be sure if it is my fan setting or the product. Either way it definitely does the job!

Love this product! It looks ace and performs well. Literally took 5 mins to install once my case was dismantled enough, just plug in and go. Temperatures are much cooler now, you can really feel the fans doing their thing. I have two of these and 2 of the SP series running at turbo speeds through my BIOS settings and they are still fairly quiet. Despite them running at full speed. Down side though the screws they provided in this package did not fit the holes on the fan? I also bought a set of the SP series fans by Corsair which had the same screws too. But I could not get them to fit and did not want to break or ruin the threads. All was good though I had other screws from older fans that fitted great!I would recommend these to anyone looking for a cheaper but still awesome alternative to system cooling! There probably is of course a much better set of fans you can get but in terms of price you can't go wrong here.

Added three of these puppies to provide additional cooling to my editing rig. Two serve as an intake and one as an exhaust and they are all mounted on the top of my case. They are not silent but they are not loud either, to be honest I don't even notice them unless I am specifically trying to do so, but I'm not one to be too picky with my system noise. As far as looks, well, they emit the light of your choice. For me, I got the red version as the color scheme matches my Ryzen black and red build. As far as performance goes, they perform as advertised and lowered my idle temps from 28.5C to 26.5C. I am looking to add two more to have a total of 8 but I'm not sure that adding two more would provide additional cooling as I believe I am at a point of diminishing returns.Regardless, I will probably end up buying two more of these as I do like the lighting and these Corsair fans perform as advertised.
