This mermaid Barbie has an amazing, colourful light show in her tail – with colour changing lights, flashing, chasing sequences, and switching between colours. It really is very appealing, with its bright rainbow of flashing LED lights; to say nothing of the daring streak of pink at the front of her blonde hair. This isn’t a doll with many accessories: her top and necklace are painted on, as is the peplum around her waist (this has moving parts on the sides and pressing these activate the light show if not using in water – you need to hold the side down to get a longer display).Although the doll’s tail is articulated, her waist, hands, and elbows are not: she is ultimately very much about the light show.

Like many Children her age my Daughter is currently (I say currently but in reality she has been for a while now) mad about Mermaids and Unicorns and the squeal when this doll arrived proved that Mermaids are still one of her favourite things at the moment.The doll is very pretty and can be played with in or out of water however so far she has mainly been played with outside of the water with just one short dip in the tub. We have had similar Mermaid dolls in the past which eventually have stopped working after a few months of play and so I am conscious with the other reviews and past experience that water play could shorten the dolls life however I will update this review to advise should the

She's a lovely Barbie. Really excellent quality as you'd expect from Mattel. Just a few points though. She doesn't bend at all. Although her tail moves in parts, you cannot sit her down. Also her arms are rigid. You can dress her but only her top half if you so wish. Her hair is really nice but quite 'stringy'. We love the light show! It's brilliant! And so clever because she works both in and out of water. My pre-schooler loves her and definitely a favourite to play with toy now. Personally, I would not recommend submerging in water. Just the tail part. This is quite difficult to explain to a toddler because they associate mermaids with water and my little girl couldn't understand why she couldn't take her in the bath.

This Barbie is part of the Dreamtopia range consisting of princesses, mermaids and fairy dolls.As with most Barbies there is a lot of plastic packaging, this one has a gap in the front enabling you to test the light up tail.The doll is brightly coloured with a tail that lights up when it’s immersed in water or you can press the peplum on her waist to activate the feature. Pressing on the peplum also makes her tail swish back and forth in a swimming motion.The lights on the tail are quite pretty, the box states that it’s a rainbow light show which is good description and looks lovely in the water. The batteries are replaceable via on opening in the back of the doll,

I bought this for my niece. Checked it worked, which it did and I thoroughly enjoyed playing with it in the box before gifting , It was great to see the tail light up and see her 'swim'. Fantastic product great service.Caution ⚠️ though.....While enjoying playing with the doll I wished I was a mermaid and was immediately surrounded with magical sparkles and collapsed to the floor.... I was left with a beautiful mermaid tail and and incredible calling from the ocean, as I live 1 hour drive to the beach I had to make do with the local Canals , eventually I shall make it to the see and live out my wish ( if I can make it through all this dirty water ).

Not sure why this is advertised as a water toy. As others have stated, it doesn’t have a waterproof quality and it then damages the battery area meaning the item becomes defective.So it’s presented very well in plastic packaging as per usual with a cut out to “try me” on the button to light her up. Still using way too much plastic!!The original price of £23 is way too much fir this item given the feedback on here and the current price is about right in my opinion.It’s well made for dry play but not for water play.All in all it’s a nice Barbie doll that lights up and flaps her fin so I’d suggest using only in the dry.

My granddaughter loves this. She is happy to press the button and have the tail light show and we let her do it in a darkened room for the best effect. She hasn't had it in the bath as she likes lots of bubbles but I may try a dry sea setting with some props and the merman that is coming ( a trip to the petshop for some fishtank pieces such as treasure chest and plastic weed). If she uses her imagination (too young at the moment) she may learn to play with her other dolls and the Barbie campervan as on a beach. So this is not a unique doll - it has play potential with more of the range.

My daughter loves Barbie and this toy is great because it lights up in the bath and the pool. She has taken it swimming many times and and it seems robust. It floats and is very colourful so very unlikely to lose it! Several other kids have seemed very interested in it and she always gets other children coming over to play with her and the Barbie.I was disappointed that it came in a large-ish box and with a large clear plastic toy (much bigger than the doll) so I don't think they have really thought about recycling commitments.

This is a beautiful barbie, my daughter absolutely loves it and spends most of her time playing with it. The only thing I would say is not so good is that it did not swim as well as my daughter expected. When you squeeze the barbies hips when she's in water you can barely notice any swimming action. My daughter was upset but soon got over it and loves the barbie regardless. I think the lights are a very cute touch and barbie does look like a perfect mermaid to keep any mermaid/barbie fan happy.

I brought this toy as a gift for Christmas and am very glad I ended up purchasing it. I brought it for a 5-6 year old and she couldnt stop asking to play with it, as it it moves, lights up and can be put in water. It kept her busy for hours! Although it's an amazing toy I will say that the packaging felt a little flimsy/cheap, but I doubt anyone, especially children, would care. It's an amazing little toy and is well worth the price for hours of entertainment. Would defo recommend!!!

Right now, Holographic Mermaids are a millennial trend. This Mermaid Barbie is so much fun for my daughter to play with. Her tail moves back and forth just like a real mermaid, She lights up as the tail swishes around making it so much fun to interact with and play games. She looks very realistic when she's underwater, Just press the side button for a natural mermaid swishing movement and flashing lights. It is safe to use and is just ideal to put a smile on my daughters face.

We bought this little mermaid for our grandson and his eyes lit up in wonder when she lit up and when she swam.he's in foster care for a while and we wanted him to have a bit of magic and fun into his little life,and something we know he will always remember,the happy time not the sad times.we were more than pleased because it stopped the tears and bought out his lovely smiley face again.worth every penny.she will delight any child lucky enough to ever get this little mermaid.

My Grandsdaughters birthday was the first day of the schools being closed due to lockdown. Sadly no school friends to share her special day and a special trip to London cancelled due to the Corona virus. Delivering her mermaid was the the highlight of her birthday and to see her little face was priceless. Sadly no birthday kisses or hugs . We now have a very loved and used Mermaid Barbie. A little girls dream. Hopefully lots of hugs and kisses when this is over.

Barbie dreamtopia mermaid I gave this to my 4 yr old who found it difficult at first trying to press the sides together to make the mermaids tail move and flash, the flashing lights get faster the longer you hold the sides pushed in and the lights are fab, you can flash her lights under water which look fab, she has a lovely pink stripe in her hair with her crown. My little one loved this barbie very much and takes her everywhere even to bed

I bought this for my daughter for her birthday, she has not opened it yet. I know she will love it as she’s crazy about mermaids at the moment and has had two Barbies that’s are mermaids that swimIn the bath. Unfortunately they both stopped working quite quickly so I don’t hold much hope for this. I got this half price so I don’t mind paying that to see the smile on her face but wouldn’t have paid full by previous experience.
