I have had this for a month now. It came pixel-perfect, without any dead or stuck pixels, and it's been about 35 days, so any factory defects have had the opportunity to show up. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the purchase. There is only one remark I could make about the out-of-the-box calibration... it's bad and you will need to calibrate it yourself. That wasn't a surprise for me as it's a TN panel, but take it as a disclaimer and adjust your expectations accordingly. It took me some time, but eventually I found that I only needed to set the Gamma in the NVIDIA Control Panel to 75%. You could also boost the vibrance from 50% to 55%, but I decided that while it makes colours look more vibrant,it affects the accuracy, so I reverted to the default. That said, all the features that are listed have worked perfectly for me. I "overclocked" to 165hz shortly after I opened it and have not had any issues.- Gsync is AMAZING ... I think that it is the best feature of this monitor; it makes even 50-60 fps feel much smoother and responsive, but I could not explain it, you will have to see it for yourself. I couldn't switch back to non-Gsync screen anymore.- 144hz vs 165hz to me makes no difference, but since I have had no issues with 165hz mode, I stuck with it.- 1440p is the sweet spot for enthusiasts with cards like my GTX 1070. Furthermore, the pixel density at 27" means that you wouldn't need to scale the UI in Windows. That's very important to me as Windows scales best only at 200%, which is to say a 27" 5K display scaled at 200% would be the only solution if I wanted a Hi-DPI monitor. 4K would put you at 150% which would cause text to look a bit off and personally for me that would ruin the whole Hi-DPI idea.Overall, I can definitely recommend this monitor if you don't mind the fact that it's TN and that you will need to calibrate it. Well worth the money.

The Asus ROG Swift PG278QR is a monitor which isn't the latest or the greatest monitor from the ROG line up. You can see youtube reviews dating back to 2016/7 when the original launch of this monitor happened. However, what you do get is a monitor which is now matured enough that the small issues that cropped up back in 2016 and 2017 have now been solved. The PG278QR backlight bleed hasn't been totally resolved, but there is a marked difference in the black screen bleed of the current generation of this monitor compared to the original release to a point where it isn't even noticeable now. The menu system with the joystick is as easy to use now as it was on its original release and the stand it comes with (it's actually already attached to the stand in the box)is sturdy and weighty enough to move the monitor around without having to worry about the stand bending. As a gamer, yes, there are "better" monitors out there, but those monitors generally tend to be the curved type which i am personally not a fan of. The 1ms response time, coupled with the g-sync system from Nvidia, and the 144hz (standard) and 165hz (overclock) refresh rate, together with the choice of DP and HDMI input makes this monitor essentially a standard in gaming rigs....put it this way, I was so impressed with the first one I bought... I ended up buying a second one...For folks who use the Spyder calibration system, the Elite5 will have no issues calibrating this monitor on the first go.

This is for the PG278QR TN panel as opposed to the IPS variant. This monitor is absurdly good, far too good to be a TN panel. The colours and brightness took a little tweaking but once adjusted they’re crazy accurate, again this is a TN panel. The whites are a little off but overall it looks great. The high refresh rate and response time are fantastic for high speed games and GSync works flawlessly provided you have an Nvidia card. All that and you don’t need to worry about those pesky IPS problems like awful back light bleed and IPS glow. And it’s cheaper too so it’s basically a no brainer unless you need a monitor for photo/video editing in which case an ips panel is probably a better choice.Ithas some nifty quality of life stuff too like a cable management slot and built in game enhancers like an FPS counter and crosshairs, though only ass holes use the crosshairs apparently. And finally the red light on the base cannot change colour which is a bummer but it can be turned off, though I left it on because it’s not nearly as ugly as I assumed it would be, it’s actually kinda cool.So yeah, if you want a high res monitor with all the bells and whistles I’d look no further than this!

I did a ton of research on many different monitors, and finally landed on this one. I had made my decision a few weeks before black Friday but held off to see if there would be a further price reduction.Unfortunately there wasn't one, but fortunately the monitor is amazing. If you were like me and on the fence between a 144hz monitor or a 4k monitor, I wouldn't hesitate on the 144hz. There aren't many games that can play at 4k anyway. Plus even if you have one that does, the vast majority of 4k monitors only support 60hz. So unless you want to drop some serious cash and go for a 100hz 4k monitor, then in my opinion 144hz is the way to go.I paired this monitor with my brand new PC which has a 1080 gtx card in it.The monitor is pretty amazing straight out of the box. It looks amazing and the default setting were leaps and bounds better than my previous 60hz monitor. But then when I enabled g-sync, it got even better. I'm really impressed and completely satisfied and my gaming experience has never been better. Do yourself a favour and pick this one up. Gaming at 100+ fps with no tearing is amazing.Damian

Best purchase I've made since playing games on PC. The picture quality was a downgrade from my previous make shift monitor (43 inch 4K LG TV) but once you get used to the reduced pixel count its hard to notice. Coming up from a 1080p panel will be an noticeably upgrade in picture quality.Pros-Variable refresh rate. Your paying a premium when buying this monitor just to have the GSYNC module but oh boy is it worth it. No tears/stutters improves the experience ten fold.-144hz with the ability to overclock takes your game to the next level. Playing games such as PUBG and overwatch at these refrresh rates ups your game and can make you a better gamer-Build quality is excellent.I would chooses asus over acer even thought he panel is normally identical the materials and build quality are on pointCons-Not having built in speakers (I get it, its a monitor but I sure do miss that feature)-Markers to help you straighten the monitor on the bottom seem offYou could go fo rthe IPS panel PG279Q but at a £200 premium.

I didn't want a huge monitor on my desk (> 30" to my mind as I sit only 30" away) but I did want a great refresh rate to match up with my 1080 GTX. I also wanted to play all current games at their ultra settings at 1440p (I personally didn't think a 4k monitor smaller than 50 inches would look much different).Out of the box this monitor looks great but it isn't as good as it can be. Calibrate it correctly and it looks fantastic - IPS level fantastic and with a much quicker response time and no back light bleed. Put you brightness down to near zero for a start - trust me.I understand that there were some manufacturing inconsistencies with the previous version (PG278Q)but I certainly have had no issues for the 2 months that I have had this monitor. It's outstanding. Buy this instead of the IPS version and put your savings toward the GPU, you won't be disappointed.

Exceptional picture quality, especially for a TN panel, and build quality. The stand feels very premium.I considered getting the slightly more expensive version with the ips panel but opted to save the £100 and am glad that I did. The picture is better than any old monitors I've used and better than any of the TV's I've watched. Sure the angles might be limited but from front and center the colour is vivid and more than adequate for gaming or watching videos.G sync means no screen tearing at high frame rates, though apparently Nvidia have opted to qualify certain monitors that are feeesync as being gsync compatible now so perhaps the premium I paid for g sync was a waste of money.A great 1440phigh refresh rate monitor.

Awesome monitor. The G-Sync makes a big difference mainly at lower FPS. The 165hz refresh rate is unbelievably good (if you can achieve it, which I have trouble with on most games with my GTX 1070 O8G Strix)The monitor I owned before this (& still do) was an Asus PB277Q, & the PG278QR really is a better monitor. The only thing I would say is that the colours aren't as good, they seem very washed out (kinda white) even after colour calibration.Overall I think the price is a bit excessive, although it is a brilliant monitor I'm not sure if I'd buy it again.Price needs to be brought down, but if you have the money then it's a great monitor.

Best monitor i have used so far. Had a 4k 60hz monitor previous but the extra refresh rate makes so much more difference than what the 4k resolution adds. Will admit i do find the stand lighting up a bit gimmicky but luckily i use the Monitor on a Monitor Arm so this isnt a massive issue for me.G-Sync has helped massively on games where FPS can fluctuate massively such as CS GO to help prevent screen tearing which was a large issue on my previous screen. Some of the extra features such as Gameplus are a bit irrelevant for games but dont deter so nothing to moan about.Overall a Excellent Monitor and would recommend to anyone

Excellent monitor. Great image, no dead pixels, the 'film' on mine isn't noticable at all (some people have complained about this, no idea why), 144 frames per second on most standard graphics games and 60-80 frames per second on high graphics (using a GTX 970 card with this). The G-SYNC definitely makes a huge difference on some games for me, namely Watch Dogs 2, GTAV, Eve Online and the Metro Reduxes. All get much better frame rate and I can boost the graphics from medium/high to high/ultra on all of them now.Very happy. A bit expensive, really hurt to click that buy button, but it is a great monitor!

18.12.2016

In short a great gaming monitor, no dead pixels, surprisingly good viewing angles and great refresh rate. G sync really works, I no longer can see tares across the screen and the overall gaming experience is much better. Where it does suffer a bit is with the colour/contrast when compared with an IPS panel. IMO if your just a gamer and are just using the monitor for general computering then this is the one for you. Got this at a good off £550 and I couldn't really justify the extra £150 for the pg279! The built in FPS counter is a nice touch plus the joystick to navigate through the menu too.

Everything you need to know about this monitor and the difference between IPS and TN models is readily available through numerous and in-depth reviews quick internet search away. However, I must say this monitor is absolutely amazing! I switched over from 1080 IPS Asus to this and the clarity, functions, speed, feel and build on this are all superior.Viewing angles, colours (after calibration), G-Sync and the rest this has to offer are all way better then I expected. I love it and highly recommend if you have the cash for it.

15.12.2018

I've had no issues with this monitor. I did a lot of research before buying and it was worth every penny. Extremely happy with the resolution, refresh rate and picture quality of this monitor. Would have been nice if it had a built in speaker but never mind. Make sure to use a display cable that can handle 1440p at 165hz. Beautiful design and red ring of light at the bottom really goes well with my other products. If i had the money I would buy 2 more of these and have 3 monitors together.

14.4.2018

Way too bright out of the box, but once it’s set up correctly (search the internet for recommended settings) it’s a really fine display. G sync makes a real difference and tearing is a thing of the past. Paired with a 1070, 1440p is largely flawless at high settings, and again g sync really helps if frame rates drop for a moment. Other premium touches such as a great stand, cable management, usb, FPS counter. Expensive, but superb.

27.11.2019

Despite all of the bad reviews this monitor gets with regards to bad quality control I decided to jump on this monitor due to being on sale.I must have won the lottery for once because my monitor doesn't have any bleed or dead pixels.Brightness Is questionable out of the box but a quick calibration brings this monitor to unbelievable levels, I have never owned a 1440p monitor before and this has blown me away.
