The quality of the combined WWE/Smackdown vs Raw/Smackdown series has taken a huge dip in the last few years culminating with the uber-tedious WWE 12 last year. Despite a wealth of features, there was little to attract new fans and the game was riddled with clunky collision detection and online play faults as well as an awful Road to Wrestlemania mode, all of which combined decreased the lifespan of the game long before the next edition could come out. This year I was generally excited by the new title in the series, more than I have been in years. Whilst WWE 13 certainly still has its flaws, it's a marked improvement on WWE 12 and possibly the most fun wrestling game in years.THQ have decided to go back in time and use the Attitude era, possibly the most popular era in WWE history as the game's main selling-point. Whether or not that's because the current TV-PG era of WWE is so weak I don't know but this has really opened up the game to players who wouldn't usually touch a wrestling game but have fond memories of the company's heyday. The keystone is the Attitude Era mode replacing RTWM, containing six linked story paths based on actual events from TV and PPV featuring the biggest stars from the Attitude era including Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mankind and D-Generation X. As you play through the matches that make up each storyline, you have a set of optional goals which, once all achieved, will open up additional matches within that mode as well as unlock new wrestlers, alternative outfits, arenas and other features to play in Exhibition mode. The attention to detail in Attitude era mode cannot be faulted and if you're nostalgic like myself, you will really enjoy working your way through these. The bonus of a wealth of unlockable content means that you can keep going back and trying to achieve all the objectives again increasing the longevity of the game. The game has possibly the best roster out of any WWE game, which including unlockables and DLC total 105 wrestlers with the majority of the in-game Attitude era characters to be unlocked through Attitude mode. The current roster are well represented even if they don't really have any mode of their own like RTWM this year. The character models are by in large, good, though a few like Shawn Michaels and Beth Phoenix look nothing like their real-life counterparts. Hair still seems to be a huge problems for the game developers as well. The current roster is also a bit out of date which you would come to expect but this means for example that most of the current-generation Diva characters have all left WWE in real life.Universe mode is also back this year where you can manage shows, characters and story lines to your heart's content. Unfortunately as in previous games, I found the novelty of playing through this wore thin very quickly as it becomes easily tedious so only the most dedicated will want to work through it for more than a year. There is a wealth of different game modes in Exhibition including the return of the King of the Ring tournament as well as features from previous years. In terms of creating content, the create a wrestler mode is still superb and pretty user-friendly. Much improved Create A Belt and Create An Arena features are also there especially in the case of the letter allowing you to customise every aspect of the arena not just the ring and allowing you to choose from a ton of older arenas like the older RAW and Smackdown sets as your template to your heart's content.Gameplay is pretty much the same as last year in terms of a control system and whilst they still haven't worked out all the collision detection problems, it appears a lot more refined than last year.Online Mode seems to be less prone to crashing in terms of downloading other user content however I still have found it down for maintenance at times suggesting all the bugs have still not been fully worked out.All in all, WWE 13 is incredible fun and I can see me playing this for quite a while until the next edition comes out, unlike last year's travesty. Certainly if THQ want to keep revisiting WWE's past as a selling point to fans I have no problem with that. Maybe Attitude 2, WCW/ECW Invasion or Ruthless Aggression next year?

It gets four stars due to the Attitude Era Mode alone. Otherwise this game is rather glitchy, especially for the Wii. Worse yet on the Wii you obviously don't get any downloadable content or potential bug fixes/patches. The game sometimes freezes, and at least for the Wii version your create-a-superstars do not get entrance attire. The option is there but it does not work. Ring announcers do not announce your CAS character during your entrance either. Random freezes happen every so often as well. Wii users also do not have the feature to create their own arena, which is a huge bummer. Certain unlockable are glitched as well, most notoriously it seems would be Kane's two-sleeved attire,it is not available even if unlocked. There is apparently no way around this glitch. The Create-A-Superstar feature is very limited in my opinion. For my taste there are not enough clothing options, hairstyle options, etc. It did not live up to my expectations considering the depth of much older titles such as WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain and the like. Creating in-depth entrances is rather tedious as well and nullifies the fun of doing so.Obviously as well the graphics on the Wii edition are hideous in comparison to the PS3 and Xbox 360 titles. I've never cared that much about graphics however so it isn't too much of an issue for me. However, if you're the kind to want great graphics (HD and the like) You will want to buy the 360 or PS3 edition of this game. The difference is night and day.Despite all of its faults (and there are more than few) the Attitude Era mode seems to make it worth while. Very in depth and true to history, you will effectively relive or experience for the first time many of the WWE's most famous/infamous moments. That in and of itself makes this game worthy of four stars. Were it not for that, it would get a three or a two star rating and not much more. There should never be this many bugs left in a final, official release.

I don't currently watch WWE but I have always liked the games. The attitude era mode is fantastic. There are tons of old characters, Bossman, Stone Cold, The Rock, Old Undertaker, Masked Kane, 3 faces of Foley, Mr Ass, Road Dogg, British Bulldog, the list goes on.Cut scenes, great stories, old videos which link into the stories you are involved in. Its fantastic. The gameplay is much improved from the last time I played wrestling games. Reversal moves link into games seamlessly which can create a great looking few moves. The commentary is much improved, especially during storys, often talking about whats happened.Creation centre is again great. Seems to get more and more intricate with each year, yet its still so simple to make what you want. Its incredible to have a custom made wrestler wearing what you want him to wear, entering the ring the way you want him to with the pyros and fireworks that you want, when you want them, using the moves that you want and even moves you've created yourself, in an arena you have built yourself. Its just customisation at its best. The only downside for me, is bugs. I've had a few crashes during Attitude era mode. Its annoying to say the least. Also had a few times where the sound has just cut for no real reason.Overall I'm happy that I got this game. I used a voucher that I had to use pretty quickly and wasn't sure what to get, so I plumped for this, seeing as the attitude era thing was on it. Even if you don't like wrestling anymore like I don't, I think its worth it on pure nostalgia.

My 9 year old loves this game and so does anyone that seems to play it, adults and kids alike. It's even pretty hilarious to watch as people play it. Even the wrestlers are entertaining to watch as they come in and out of the ring. The more a wrestlers gets pounced on the slower he is to recover. You'll see them hold their heads as they move around the ring, so you can tell which one's are weaker. The more you play the game and are able to win matches, the more wrestlers you unlock. There are several types of games you can play, whether it be single player or multi-player. Since this is wrestling, there is violence to the game where they are beating each other up and trying to break each other.Literally.

WWE 13 is overall one of the besr WWE games which has been made in my opinion. It features the Attitude Era mode which plays through stories from the most exciting era in WWE. Fans which liked WWE in the late 90s will love the memories it brings back. The roster is one of, if not the largest on a WWE game with the modern stars and Attitude stars also. One problem is that Ryback isn't on the game but is going to be a downloadable superstar. Just a way for WWE to get more money out of you. There are loads of unlockable characters, attires, arenas, matches etc which is always good.Overall an entertaining WWE game and well worth a buy for fans.

I'm not really a wrestling fan, I just enjoy playing the games every now and then. Its a pretty good game, old wrestlers are present too, not the Hulk Hogan era, but the 90's and some stories about certain wrestlers are present too. Create a wrestler tool is very similar to the previous games with just more clothes, tattoo's and a few other changes. Oh, and if you buy this game used, beware that you won't be able play online unless you buy a pass, so for the price might as well buy a new one if you want to play online.

This was a Christmas gift for my 10 year-old son. He owns every WWE game from 2008 up. He was waiting for WWE 13 for a long time. At first he thought is was challenging. It was somewhat different than WWE 12, which was to be expected. He has had it for three days now and is getting used to it and is unlocking different wrestlers. He tells me the graphics are better than WWE 12 and there are several Wrestlemania's to tackle. He is enjoying the game and has been playing it everyday. I would say it's a hit!

27.11.2012

Overall I would say it is a good game but there is space for a lot of improvements. Some wrestlers have two or even three versions of them when they could of added few more superstars. Universe mode is near enough completely editable which is great. Create a story mode has many additions but cannot be played in conjunction with Universe mode. Well the main thing is you can serve a can of whoop ass to anyone!!!

This item was a XMAS gift for my son because he loves the WWE and it was on his list. It was delivered before I could think about when it was coming, a couple of days after I ordered it! It was packaged for damage control which made the delivery safe. My son can't stop playing it and keeps thanking Santa for the great present, he's Nine years old. Thanks for making his holiday great.

16.10.2013

Both of my sons really enjoy this game and play it for long periods of time (when allowed!). They had the 2009 version and played it to death and say this one has a lot more choices and features regarding the types of wrestlers, moves and fights that can be done.

13.8.2013

There's only one match that could have better created, Jericho vs Road Dogg. Many many people dislike match due to the difficulty.I say don't let one match discourage you from the whole game. It's awesome!

27.12.2012

Very good wrestling game as the story takes you through the attitude era. This game would be better if it had more focus on wwe 2012 and it does get a bit boring when you've completed the attitude era mode.

27.11.2012

This was very anticipated. WWE '12 was kind of a let down with the story line. This years with the Attitude Era is pretty awesome. I like how you can unlock so many people. It's very well done.
