We first bought a set of WMF pans nearly twenty years ago and they're still going strong! This large diameter low casserole fills a gap and is perfect for creating fantastic meals that need preparation on the hob and then time in the oven. Its size is perfect for preparing meals to feed more than four people and if you are excited by the look of your creations, as I am, then the low profile means that your guests can gasp in awe at the wonderful colours and hues - and of course bathe in the enticing aromas! For a large diameter pan it is not too heavy, and the two handles do not get too hot during cooking. Neither are there any apparent "hot-spots" during cooking. The glass lid means you can keep an eye on your meal as it simmers, and the simple form and construction makes cleaning and storage easy.Enjoy!

Amazing pan, the same day i got it i used it to make a couple of steaks and the sear and caramelization is amazing, as soon as i finised i made some spinach on it, let the caramelization from the meat flavour it a bit, just an amazing tool. You just have to remember that the key to non stick on a SS pan is heat, it heats up quickly, start it on high and move it to medium heat when its ready, the trick is putting half a teaspoon of water and you will see it will turn to a sphearical bubble which will move freely hovering over the metal, thats becuase the steam is keeping it from touching the steel, then its ready to cook,Just remember to wipe off the water since if it touches oil it will explode (the water, not the pan :P)

I like the DIADEM series of WMF casseroles because of their classic form and the glass lids. The glass lids not only add a direct visual parameter to your cooking but they also allow you to check your food without causing the temperature to drop by pulling the lid.We have a set of three (the 8-inch (20cm) one, the low 8-inch one and the 6.2-inch (16cm) one) and we have been using them for years. The lids are interchangeable between the casseroles of equal diameter. The handles are heat-resistant and they are easy to clean (just make sure not to allow grime to accumulate where the glass meets the metal rim).RECOMMENDED.

If you do decide to try out a stainless steel pan, be sure it's for the right reasons, e.g.- You need to caramelize or cook a lot of acidic foods, or have a particular sauce that needs stainless steel.- You want to put foods on hold in the oven, or even to cook in the oven. You can brown a small roast in this and just stick it all in the oven).- You want to learn how to cook on a stainless steel frying pan. For example with Teflon you just throw in the egg and move it about. With SS if you try that you'll ruin the egg. Same with lots of other foods (fish, pancakes). Most people are better off getting two

WMF Stock Pot, this range are the ones I am purchasing due to the fact I have not found any other to beat them at the moment. They are a high quality pan and can be used by most heat sources, dishwasher safe, they stand up to heavy use and still polish up looking good. Having used a range of kitchen ware this is my choice, a heavy based pan but not too heavy when used, as some cast iron pans. In or out of the oven they have a life time of use. They make a great wedding gift, as this one did.

A very classy piece of kit, good materials, good ergonomics, a pleasure to use. As with all uncoated stainless steel pans, best follow the manufacturer's instructions for initial conditioning of the pan and maintenance of the finish. It isn't difficult. Good quality uncoated pans will outlast and outperform so called non-stick pans. I've had some stainless pans 20 years and they are still as good as new, but I reckon I get only 3 years or so from a non-stick pan.

You get what you pay for, buy cheap and you will buy twice. This pan should see me out! Update: still going strong BUT YOU MUST remember that you cook at a lower temperature with a stainless steel frying pan to avoid food sticking (its to do with the molecular structure of the steel and the protein in animal fats that form a bond). Its never the pans fault, its how its used!

I like to waste as little time as possible in cooking: get the fiddly bits over with on top of the cooker and then bung it in a slowish oven while I get on with my life without being forced to work on the mere task of preparing food. That's why I buy these WMF low casseroles: there's no plastic to get singed and they're not hugely expensive for the unbelievable quality.

Successfully replaced the need for a kettle (and lead and plug and general kerfuffle). On induction with power setting and lid (bought separately) it is as fast as the kettle the noise of the 'bouncing' lid does the job of the whistle. Doubles up as milk or small pasta pot. One less piece of clutter in the kitchen.

Love this frying pan, it's a really good mid-weight gauge and cleans very easily. I prefer stainless steel because I know that aluminium can transfer to your food and can be bad for your health over time so I always buy stainless steel - this is one of the better makes I've had. Very pleased, good buy.

Quality ergonomic design and manufacture, expensive but 18/10 stainless always is, it does not rust like 18/0, Not used as milk pan but as a receptacle in a sink half drainer to rinse dish clothes with the cold water tap or wash knives kitchen tools. Will be an excellent milk pan when needed.

Bought 2 of these in 2011. Both used daily. Still looks as new. After buying the Tefal et al stuff, this is brilliant. Seems expensive but lasts and lasts and won't need replacing every year or so.Fantastic. Highly recommended.....

I love this pan. I can use a lower heat with it and it cleans like a dream. Occasionally I may have to soak it for a few minutes (I don't have a dishwasher), but I never have to scrub it. Worth every penny!

The heat on this is amazing. However it can be really annoying in some situations. For example I turned a lovely piece of cod into a dog's breakfast. Other times, it's just amazing for cooking a sirloin.

Got my review wrong way round - please read my comment on the lid - that should be here. The pan is brilliant qualiy and works a treat - food tastes so much better - no more teflon for us.
