First off, I am a big fan of Samurai, Japan, Shogun Total War etc so maybe biased. This game is good and looks like it could have brilliant i.e. competing with the like of Assassins Creed II. It plays a bit like ACII, but with a few drawbacks, so first the bad,:-1) No climbing and alot of 'barriers' or map areas that you just can't explore.2) Some of the lovely rendered landscapes are just that, there for your viewing but not interacting pleasure. I found myself wandering round some areas thinking, 'beautiful, but nothing here to pick up or interact with'3) Similarly, characters do not quite feel as interactive as ACII and not many puzzles to solve.4)Finally combat rarely requires you to do anything other than mash the square button. However, it does have redeeming features, especially for those who love Samuarai:-1) The bow/draw sword idea is a good one. A bit like ACII when you attract attention with weapons out, here other Samurai will attack if you leave your weapon drawn.2) Swords - having the blacksmith upgrade them and being able to custom your sword is cool, the learning of skills (instant kill etc) sounds cool, but button mashing is so effective, why bother?3) It is genuinely Japanese. Anyone who knows the slighty quirky Japanese naturewill hopefully understand what I mean by that.4) The multiple endings obviously predate games like Heavy Rain, so fair play for trying that.I just feel a little bit more thought and testing and you might have ended up with a game containing all the best of Assassins Creed II and Heavy Rain!Update 22/10/10I feel I have been a little harsh on this game. Since playing on a harder level, button mashing is a lot less effective, so maybe more sublety to the combat than first revealed. The twenty odd endings have me coming back for more. If amazon oferred this game for under £15, it would be a real gem!

I'm a little shocked there's not that many reviews for this game, then again it don't seem to be very popular I hardly ever see this game in game stores.- The game -Way of the samurai 3 is a great game if you like sword fighting and using different swords and fighting styles, for example there's Ninja weapons you can use and dual swords, you can even make your own swords by buying the parts or finding them. There's not a real story to this game you make your own up as you play, then based on the choices you made in the game will result in that ending, there's something like 22 different endings I think. You can have partners that can be funny and help you out, customising your character can be hilarious with all the strange clothes and accessories you buy or unlock,or even download.-The best bits -Entering instant kill mode and trying to get 100 kills without messing up is really fun.I found getting the platinum trophy for this game easy really, if you're after them.Doing the mini games, making new weapons and choosing the fighting moves.-Bad stuff-The graphics are not the best but it makes up for this with the fighting. After completing all the story's and getting weapons and messing about, your left with wanting more but there's nothing more, there's no online play which would have been new and interesting, just imagine a samurai team death match it would be over in like 60 seconds lol. When you talk to people outside of the story mode, you have to read all the dialogue there's no talking.1 person said in a review that this game is bad because they don't have a tutorial, the truth is they don't they just throw you right into the action, it helps if you've played the other 2 games to get an idea of how it all works but it has changed a lot even from the old versions.

Having been a fan of way of the samurai and played the first two games in this series, I have to say they have done an excellent job of this one.The game is very open ended and allows you to either fight or grovel your way through the game and generally mould your character into a hero or a villain.Combat feels slick but can be quite spontaneous and sudden, for example, if you accidentally bump into a thug or some other proud warrior on the street you will barely have time to draw your sword before it all kicks off. Depending on how you act will alter the games townsfolk and clans perception of you and you may be attacked out of the blue if you rub a certain faction up the wrong way.A welcome returning feature is the push/pull system that was in the first game which allows you, with skill, to put your opponent off balance and maybe give you the 'glimpse of death' action which allows you to instantly kill your opponent. With lots of areas to explore, lots of new weapons and stances to find and even creation of your own weapons, I think this game will keep me going for a long time especially with the replayability factor of the game.My only gripe is that the text size is ridiculously small and difficult to read at times, but then again I need to get a bigger and better TV, Also Sony don't seem keen to promote this on the Playstation Network (edit, there is now free downloadable content available for this including a cardboard suit of armour and a paper sword amongst other things). Many thanks to GAMEBRIDGE for bringing this game to Europe, and Aquire/Spike for making an excellent game.

Basically you play a samurai, shock!, in a small town and depending on how you play end up with one of dozens of endings. It has a good amount of customisation options, ok graphics, decent voice work but the best part of this game is the fighting system. The way you sword fight in this game is, in my opinion, the best any game has managed to produce. I don't understand why lucasarts hasn't used it for a star wars game because it would be perfect for it. It takes practice and has some room for improvement but if you like sword fighting games get this.

at first, i wasn't so sure about the game. but as you play it more and more, the better it gets. it has a certain charm about it that makes you want to play it multiple times, especially when there is like twenty endings. graphic wise, it looks dated but if you can get over this then there is plenty of fun to be had in this game.

Order and received it a while ago and I can easily say it the best samurai orientated game I've played. Buy it if your even a mild enthusiast of decent sword play and world-sim mechanics.
