****EDIT****Sorry to say a few days after this review the whole phone crashed along with messaging apps. After some googling it seems to affect people a lot. Nothing we tried would make it work again. Such a pity as this product was brilliant when it worked. One very disappointed little girl. Will not buy another. *******I was fairly dubious about buying this for a few reasons. I was against getting my 7 year old a 'phone' and also due to the negative reviews.PROS- Arrived very quickly and packaged very well.- Lovely large screen and almost looks like a mini tablet.- Once opened the instructions were very simple and easy to do in a few steps. It came with a USB charger or a plug charger,so I plugged it in to charge on my laptop while I set it up. After setting up a Learning Lodge account we were set up.- The messaging app 'Kidiconnect' is great! I added some of my daughters cousins and friends, along with me and her dad. It is very safe and no one can message her unless they have been invited and approved by me which is great. It also will not allow the child to delete their chat history unless a parent approves. It sends pictures, images, drawings and voice memos which is great and it keeps her entertained for ages sending messages.- Some of the apps and games are great also which she plays with and there is an option to pay and download more, but to be honest, the messaging app is really what she wants.- Internet browser is on the device and you can turn it off so the child has no internet access which is great. The parental controls also limit the time the child can spend on the device and this is the reason I chose this device. If my daughter thinks it stops working itself daily. rather than me turning it off, it really helps!CONS- The Kidiconnect messaging app works great with my android phone, but there seems to be issues with it crashing when you download the app for iphone. As the phone itself runs on an android platform, it works great android to android. My husband keeps getting kicked out of his app on the iphone, but that for me isn't a bother really as it still works most of the time. It is a bug that they will hopefully update.- The pink version is almost 20 pounds more expensive than the black one! This is ridiculous! I bought the black one as there is no way to justify that price for a different colour.Overall I am very happy I took the leap of faith and ordered this despite some negative reviews. The only thing I would like is they fix the buggy iphone Kidiconnect app. Other than that, this is the perfect device for small kids. It has the parental controls and the safe messaging app that I wanted and also doesn't allow calls.I would definitely recommend and it is hours of entertainment for a permanently bored 7 year old girl!I bought the black one as it was nearly 20 pounds extra to buy it in pink!

Firstly this is a great little stripped down tablet toy for kids which runs on android and connects to the WiFi. It comes with a bunch of child friendly apps such as games, music, ebooks, art studio, voice changer, and many more.It has a camera which you can rotate to take pictures and use the app ‘wonder masks’ to give yourself lots of different masks such as a bunny or a princess! You can add friends so that you child has others to talk to over WiFi.You have to register an account to use most of the features which is a bit of pain to set up and it’s a separate vtech account rather than an android account,so for this reason I would personally buy a tablet rather than this toy.You can set up parental controls such as time limits which is a great idea and you can ‘manage’ who your child is connecting to online, so the idea is that this makes it safer for your child to use than say a phone or tablet.I found the touch screen wasn’t always very responsive so some things can take a while to load. My little boy loves all of the songs and games that it comes with, as well as the camera and the face masks app.Overall this is a great idea, but for the price I think you’d get more or less the same thing with a tablet which would probably cost half the price. There are limited parental controls on some tablets but some do come with an option in the settings list, and parents could use the tablet in the evening whereas with this it has one purpose and that’s pretty much it. My little boy is already enjoying it a lot, but for the price I’d expect it to do a little bit more.

The children who tested this are experienced device users, aged just nine and almost 8. They are a little at the upper age suggested for this, but they still enjoyed playing with it.There are only a limited number of free applications with this. (Two full games). They enjoyed the games, and felt they were entertaining. They also particularly enjoyed the camera, which takes much better photographs than their tablets. The camera is definitely one of the best features of this little device. Cameras in themselves can provide hours of entertainment. However, for children used to devices that have a number of games downloaded for free, this has its drawbacks.Do be aware of this, if buying it as a gift, especially for somebody who is on a limited budget. The appearance is remarkably similar to a smart phone, and to be honest, so is the cost, it would be possible to buy a decent smartphone for what this cost. However, as a device to place in a child’s hand, to stop them wanting to play with adults devices, it possibly has its uses.I have mixed feelings on children under five years of age using devices. I’m more in favour of them interacting with traditional toys, and developing both fine and gross motor skills in a more conventional manner. However, there are times when providing something engaging for a child to do quietly is a Godsend, and this could be the answer.

This is a great wee product for my 3 year old. He feels all grown up having this. I've had no delay with the kidiconnect app and my wifi is regularly rubbish so I'm not complaining... he enjoys sending me scribble pictures, selfies and emojis. He enjoys the built in games. It is quite large for a 3 year olds hands in comparison to a real phone..I would say it's slightly smaller that a 7inch tablet with a swivel camera however its difficult to maintain his grip with just one hand because of the material it's made from but never the less he enjoys it. I would advise a non slip cover and a screen protector just incase but I reckon its quite resilient as he has dropped it a few times and it's still perfectly fine.He uses it with his headphones that I purchased separately too... probably wouldn't have spent this much on it though mainly because it doesnt feel quality enough material and so in this instance I feel ive paid for the label more than the product..the price let's the product down but the joy it brings my son overrides that.

We received this little gadget that will be our little boys birthday present. We switched it on and had a play on it. The screen is a nice size and the Tablet Looks really robust. There are a great variety of apps to choose from and 2 are free! We really like that a micro SD card can be inserted to increase storage capacity. You can choose from 2 colours black or white with a pink border. The device makes decent photos and filters can be applied which will be great fun for any little girl or boy. This gadget is a great little first phone/tablet for any little one as the parents can decide what the child can or cannot do online but yet can text and video call selected friends and family.

Great for little kids, nice size, has built in apps and gives you option to download certain ones, parental controls are good. The great thing about this is the camera option, entertains the kids for hours. Only thing I would say is that it is quite high in price compared to other basic tablets you can buy. This is a basic tablet, but I guess you are also paying for name vtech. Sound quality is good, and picture quality is also good. Packaging is great, makes a great gift, but paying over £100 for it, is abit steep in price in my personal opinion.

There have been some negative reviews of this tablet but I have found for what it is and the age group it is aimed at it is very good. The device is able to be controlled by the parents and therefore no chance of the wrong people being able to infiltrate your child's online activities. No it is not a proper tablet but for a child that wants to be like their older siblings it is perfect and the camera is my granddaughters favourite thing . I think it is well worth the money.

this is a toy-phone running on some Android like system, so apps and experience feel pretty much like a phone of 10 years ago, which is not too bad for kids. Has plenty of apps to keep them entertained, as well as parental control in place. Feels safe overall. However, I think this is overpriced, considering the technology behind it is likely very cheap these days.

Excellent quality children's tablet. Wide variety of apps available and it is able to communicate with other products which have the vtech messaging app downloaded. Got this for my granddaughter and she loves it and it's nice to be able to message her using my phone to her tablet. Excellent quality stylish product highly recommended.

My daughters have really enjoyed this product. We have set up a family group using the messaging app so they are loving being able to message their grandparents.I like this because the other apps on the tablet are all very child friendly so I know it’s a device they can use unsupervised.

This is a nice first phone, bought for my daughter who wanted to use it for the messaging and camera which are really good and easy to use. My only issue is that all addition games cost to download, there are very minimal free ones that I’ve found.

Very pleased with this product. The reviews were not that great, but the app works perfectly and it’s very safe for a 5 year old to use. Remember you can’t make make calls, but it teaches a child to tx and they can draw and send photos too.

This was a Christmas gift and money well spent. My little guy loves technology and I think he's just too young for a phone. this was a great comprise. Educational games, text messages to my phone. Delighted with this purchase.

7.11.2019

My son has been asking for a phone for a while now and we have been looking at different options. I came across this and it's fantastic. Does everything he needs it to do and more. This is his Christmas present. He's 6.
