The sizing Amazon stated almost put me off getting this. The amp is actually much more compact, w25cm, h21, d17. So it's a real Diddy little thing, roughly just over a hands length in height/width so it'll fit on a coffee table/ bedside cabinet no probs.I originally bought a Joyo Jam Buddy which I use as more of a pocket /headphone amp, but the speakers unsurprisingly sound meh! & the balance between clean, overdrive & lead channel is so mismatched, but it's still a very clever bit of kit, & gives you a pocket sized option to travel with. The Vox however sounds more like a conventional sized practice amp almost. The best of the clean sounds such as BTO, Black 2x12, & AC30,sounded clear & bell like through my Strat (Iron Gear Vintage 6ts pups which are fairly fat & smooth sounding in neck & neck/midd. pos.I normally prefer distorted /overdrive tones, although it'd be a great clean Strat amp for noodling around on if that's your thing. The amount of tone variation using just the compressor, gain & tone nobs was huge, as was its sensitivity to pickup selection, which is either very clever design or just damn lucky. The overdriven tones, such as Cali Metal have loads of saturation on tap, but again the compressor, gain & tone, as well as your guitars tone control change things dramatically, so it's worth spending time seeing what works best. The distorted tones aren't buttery smooth.. , my Blackstar Ht1, Marshall JMP1 preamp & even my 20w Mustang 1 v2 (with a Celestion 10" jammed inside it) are all capable of Gary Moore liquid sounding lead tones, but the Vox is gonna struggle to achieve that (although I haven't tried this with my proper humbucker guitars yet) .It's more fuzz/buzzy sounding, but it still picks up harmonics really well. Lead playing is fine on it though with some spring reverb & chainsaw metal riffs with some compression sound great.I'm glad I chose this over the Blackstar mini & Boss Katana, as although they're smaller again (& have had good reviews) , the Vox seems to do so much more in terms of sound, & its still small/light enough to quickly plonk in front of the TV while you jam along to Kerrang etc. rather than lugging a bigger practice amp around.I guess it all depends on how small you want/need to go in terms of these mini practice amp things.P. S. Did notice the review mentioning the excessive noise, buzzing etc. but my amp seems ok. I've only used it with batteries, but I played single coils with a Strat & no probs. You can hear a bit of noise gating/processing going on but it doesn't sound excessive. The 12v adaptor supplied had a small filter fitted, so maybe this or a recent manufacturers mod has cured it, who knows!

I was looking for a battery/mains amp for my ukulele, preferably with a separate microphone input. This one ticks all the boxes and more! It's a smart piece of kit which seems to be fairly robustly constructed (i haven't tried dropping it and i don't intend to!)There are three inputs: a stereo line input for a backing track (but no volume control on this); a microphone input with its own volume control. You can also select the amount of echo or reverb on the mic channel. The guitar input is the killer on this amp! There is a clean line out which is ideal for accoustic instruments but there are also several "model amps" which replicate various types of amplifier sound. By adjusting gain and tone on these,it is possible to make a ukulele sound like a Stratocaster! All the guitar outputs can have additional effects added such as chorus or flangeing and echo and reverb. As well as the internal speaker, there is a stereo line output for headphones or a bigger amp if you really want more volume. This amp makes a fair sound for its six AA 1.5V batteries and gives good clean reproduction. If you get any hum, it's not the amp - more likely picked up through your own body!In looking for an amp, i didn't see anything cheaper half as good but I saw quite a few a lot more expensive but not nearly as versatile. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a small busking/practice amp. It's worth saving up for if you were considering a cheaper amp!

Wed Ellen amp all round. This was purchased for someone else but I know enough about amps to say that, for the price, this is very well built amp and is excellent value for money. This can be run on batteries and features a lot of effects. The best thing is you can use classic Vox Amps such as the AC15 and AC30 and the digital models are pretty spot on. If there is a downside, it is that size does matter. Bigger speakers mean more low end, and a fatter sound, but again, a bigger amp is always bulkier, and cannot run on batteries. You can, of course, output the sound to a larger cabinet via the headphone socket and hear two brilliant the tone is, so this is pretty cool.Vox also make the Mini 5 which is slightly bigger and has more features so if you like Vox and wasn't one of their smaller amps, either of these two should give you the kind of sound you are looking for. I think the Mini3 gives you a good crunch and superb cleans. Admittedly, I do think that the Roland Cube and the Fender Mustang Mini are better amps but Vox has a sound of its own and if you are really into that, this is a very good option. By no means is this amp poor, and I personally did not find the speaker to be noisy as other reviewer's have pointed out. If you have it on, and nothing is plugged in, you will know it is on, but I don't know guitar amp that doesn't do that.

Absolute love this wee amp great to finally have a mic input and the wee beast is loud both on Mic and Guitar though the MP3 input is a big let down probably not the amps fault but I find if I plug in a CD player its loud enough but tried it with two sets of MP3 players and the sound is just too low to use it for backing tracks. Great amp for busking you can pop it into a backpack nicely even a strong shopping bag. A weather proof cover would be nice though great value for money. The amp modeling is first class, you get a great Beatles and 60s sound with this though am using a Epiphone Casino with it which helps a lot.If you want a Shadows sound you can easily tweek it for that too with the built in DD though it would have been nicer to have a separate control for both DD and Reverb. Some nice distortion too and the Gain works a treat for some Status Quo. Great vintage amp and looks the business too with the traditional Vox grille and very lightweight. The battery compartment is Velcro stripped so no more screwing and time wasting. Well done Vox.

Decent amp for the price, specially as it includes alot of different effects what you would normally need to buy pedals for,Only used it plugged in so far so can't really comment on how long battery's last ..ectBeing able to plug head phones in is handy when you want to practice without bothering people, and if you do online lessons or want to play along to songs you can plug your phone or tablet into the amp and hear your guitar and the sound from your Aux device at the same time,Also has a Mic input which is good, however I unlikely to use it, only thing id say is it is slightly larger than I expected but I think the extra weight and size gives it a less "tinny" sound like alot of small amps.I'd recommend it to anyone who wants an amp that does a bit of everything, its not amazing at each function but for the price its a decent "jack of all trades master of none " kind of amp (comes with a strap and a mains power lead)

Very pleased with this cute practice amp. It's selection of 'voices' emulating other popular 'big boy's amps as well as popular effects such as various delays, chorus, tremolo etc make this an excellent purchase. I use it every day with a Fender Stratocaster, Squire vintage Telecaster and Squire P-Bass and the range on this amp shows off each instruments tonality and unique characteristics very well indeed.

Really pleased, just what I was looking for, a small (but capable and loud) practice amp, range of model amps and effects, plus a 3.5mm in for audio device, which plays through its own channel unlike some other amps I’ve tried (the effects/distortion are present on the external audio). Look and plays great, no mains hum on this one unlike other reviews. Love it to bits.

great product, used this for guitar and bass and handles both very well. got this for busking as its battery powered and easy to bring with. Loads of options for tone and can go surprisingly loud for its size. For just over 100 quid its well worth the risk, also the headphone feature is a nice touch when i need to play quiet but still get the effects and sound

This is a bit like a Roland Micro cube although it has more amp types and different effects. It has a compressor, tape delay, chorus and reverb among others. It sounds good for its small size and looks stylish. I'm more inclined to play as it's all there in one box, rather than setting up a load of gear. Really good!

Brilliant amp, solidly built, quality switches, knobs and input/output sockets. Good selection of voices and effects, the mic input is a handy addition for microphone or acoustic guitar. Very versatile and an impressive sound from such a compact amp. Very happy picker...

Good little amp with a big sound and also lots of effects, only issues are that 1: it came with a EU/US type plug and 2: it is prone to feedback, especially whilst using the effects. But all in all it's easy to transport and the battery life Is pretty good

This was a birthday gift for our son-in-law. Whilst I had no idea what I was buying, this was the model he wanted after much research. He is thrilled with it and is a very happy chap! Excellent service and packaging. Thank you so much.

Fantastic little amp, it's true when they say dynamite comes in small packages, this amp is better than my other amps as far as portability and storage space. I recommend it to anyone looking to do some busking.

There not many products on the market, with this many features, at this price. So good value for money!I was a tiny bit underwhelmed with how similar the effects sound.Still, overall good value :)

24.6.2015

Fantastic bit of kit, would recommend it to anyone. Accurately recreates most vox and Marshall amps, decent range of effects and types of reverb/delay. The best "bedroom" amp on the market. Love it.
