This amp will never be your main amp - it's not designed to be. It's meant as a portable way of taking your electric guitar to places where you wouldn't be able to lug your gigging set-up. I teach guitar for a living & this is perfect for when I need to go into schools & such like.I also do a regular slot playing guitar live on a local radio show, for which this amp is perfect. Its volume is on the same kind of scale as a big dreadnought acoustic guitar bashing out the decibels - no problem being heard.I play a strat with a HSS pickup layout, so I tend to leave the amp on it's OD setting all the time. If I use the neck (single coil) p/u with the guitar volume at around 5-6,I get a very usable clean sound - good for strumming & general accompaniment. Wind up the guitar volume pot to 10 & you've got a usable SRV style crunch. Flick to the bridge humbucker for Kinks-style raspy distortion (think "You Really Got Me").There is a nice "touch sensitivity" when playing through this amp - you get the sense that someone at Marshall was involved in the way it sounds, rather than just slapping their badge onto a generic product. It does have a quite "Marshally" sound, albeit within the context of what a 3" speaker is able to deliver. For twenty quid, you can't really do any better at taking your guitar out & about - even a cheap acoustic is going to cost at least double that AND you have to put up with playing a cheap guitar. This little beauty allows you to take your favourite electric plank anywhere you like - you can even use headphones with it too. It would have been nice to have an input for an mp3 player so you could jam along with backing tracks, but as I said, for 20 quid, it's still a bargain!

I personally am an amateur guitarist. I wanted to learn playing the electric guitar, so with a bit of research I can make a firm statement that this wasn't a waste of money. The sound coming out of the built in diaphgram is good enough if you want to play in your room. It will also suffice for playing in a small group. There is a headphone jack that can be used to output the sound to headphones or even a mixer. I think that this is a very useful feature if you want to record some tunes that you play on a computer.I have not had any other amplifiers in the past but based on the sound that I hear coming out of the speaker,I can say that you will be able to play almost any tune that you can think of and it will sound really good.I am using this amp for a Yamaha pacifica 012. The guitar has four different pick ups and the amp does really well in producing different sounding tones when switching the input from pick up to pick up.Only reason I give it four stars is because I feel like they should have added a built in lithium-ion rechargeable battery which would have made the product perfect.

I originally purchased this as a novelty item, thinking that it would just look good on a shelf, but it turned-out to be an extremely good practice amplifier. You could also use it for a small scale street-performance. It has a metal clip on the back, which slots neatly over your belt and is reasonably loud when you crank it up.The biggest plus for me was the fact the it really does sound like a Marshall - even with Overdrive Distortion turned-on, there is no unnatural buzzing that you sometimes get with cheap amps.I have two slight niggles with it though:It doesn't have a reverb and sometimes the sound can seem a little dry. If you have an effects unit, this isn't a problem. It doesn't come with a power unit. There is a battery slot in the back that will take one of those rectangular 9 volt batteries, but ... "get this"... the slot is too small for a rechargeable battery. I purchased an Energizer 9V Recharge battery and it simply will not fit into the rear slot. A standard non-rechargeable 9V battery will however.Strange...very strange.Overall, I am pleased with it.

On the delivery side of things, Royal Mail took it upon themselves to lose the item so a repalcement had to be shipped which did arrive in time for the event it was purchased for in the first place. I musrt say the market place seller, Chamberlain Music were very efficient in arranging the replacement and kept me appraised of developments regarding this.As for the amp itself, the marshall brand alone suggests quality and even though I'm using it to channel my acoustic bass guitar I was surprised how well this mini Marshall dealt with the output. It will NEVER do the job of a bigger amp but if you're looking for a bit of portable back up sound, this ones for you.

This is a good little amp in a small package. Probably the smallest amplifier for an electric guitar that I've ever seen. However it is genuinely good enough to support practising in your living room. There is a slight buzz and slightly tinny sound, but this is only to be expected from such a small device. It's certainly good enough however, for a beginner like me to start on.For use in the home I would recommend getting the power adaptor rather than rely on the battery, as I suspect the single battery may have a short life when used regularly.9V Marshall MS-2 Micro Amp power supply replacement adaptor

just one word, Brilliant. I love it, for such a small amp and yet what noise you can get from it in the OD setting, full tone and Volume. Love it and wearing it on the belt with a 0.5m 1/4 lead. I'll see how long the battery life is, the only downfall is having to buy the 9v power adapter separate, luckily I have a Zoom III Foot pedal I use with my Peavey amp and that's got a 9v adapter I hardly use as I use it with 4 rechargeable AA's that last a long time. Delivery was brilliant first thing this morning, on a saturday even tho I chose free standard delivery on tuesday and was told it'll come next monday.

Well built and detailed. Clean channel is iffy and has little volume. But this thing really shines on the od channel. Surprisingly good Marshally tone, good overtones, goes into controlled feedback like a hot knife through butter. Loud as hell for shuch a small amp. Best feature: belt clip. Extra points for including a 9 volt battery

kind of amusing (I am a fender amp/guitar person, so don't really have time for massive marshall stacks, but having a battery powered practice amp that's this small&portable is handy and it isn't at all a bad price/performance, plus he humour value is great....so form, function/value, all line up....shame it doesn't go up to 11 :-)

Good amp for the money, kicks off a lot of volume on OD. The clean channel is not clean, feels quite crunchy on low gain but for portability and/or beginner practice I would definitely recommend but if you want to take guitar more seriously, I'd probably consider putting the £20 for this amp into a better amp.

This little fellow packs a punch. I was worried that strumming would be louder than the audio, definitely not the case. This thing is perfect to take with you when you will need to practice. Runs fine on the battery it comes with, but definitely recommend getting a separate power adapter bundled with it.

An excellent mini Marshall Amp for any guitar player. It works really well with all various different sound settings.A must have if you don't need a huge Amp to carry around, it is light weight and is ideal if want something small and compact to take with you to teach or play/practice quietly.

Bought this amp purely to use as a speaker for my iPod when I'm out and about camping and suchlike, brilliant very very loud and crystal clear sound ,needs a 3.5 to 6.35/6.50 Jack lead to make it work but they are widely available and cheap.Highly recommend it for this purpose.

Very pleased, purchased as a Christmas present for my son who has several Marsh guitar amps, obviously not with the samefull quality but nether the less very impressive with a large sound for such a very small amp. I purchased with the charger unit.

This is good to practice with, obviously that's why you'll get this model. The sound isn't great from the speaker, with headphones though, can't fault it. Good value for money, even comes with free battery! (but no power lead)

Very impressed, the sound quality is better than I expected for a gimmicky product good for practice and fun I'd recomend it to any who just wants to play on their own.Much better than expected and an absolute bargain :)
