I have used mine extensively for sports photography from a sitting position. At this height it is not fully extended and hence is very sturdy. I use a micro four thirds system with a heavy zoom or prime tele lens about 2kg total, which is rock solid on the Velbon. Set up is quite tricky and needs a bit of practice because it extends by sequentialy twisting and hence releasing the leg sections. Collapsing needs a lot of twisting and a bit of patience, read the instructions before taking it out for the first time. I modified mine by fitting a ball head from my generic chinese made travel tripod or an Arco Swiss type quick release plate,

I was surprised how much I liked this monopd. I am used Velbon monopods for many years and have found them sturdy and reliable. I have been used to having quick release latches rather than twist to release or lock but the twist action on this monopod is almost as fast and easy to use. It is surprisingly sturdy and inflexible when fully extended. But its main advantage is its short length when collapsed. It fits easily into almost any bag and I can even keep it in the top (neck-side) pocket of a Barbour jacket; sometimes I have forgotten it is there. Excellent.

This monpod is fantastic. It is lightweight but very sturdy. It extends to around 56 inches in height but folds down to around 10 inches. So small I can actually put it in a pocket. I do lots of motorsport photography so this is ideal.It has also made a huge difference in photo quality compared to hand held shots. Would definitely recommend and well worth £39 !!

A superb travel monopod.Collapsing down to a tiny 26cm, it will slip into the most compact system bag, but when fully extended to 156cm provides an adequately steady platform for the camera.Extending and retracting can be accomplished with a flick of the wrist, and is ultimately convenient.Thoroughly recommended.

Already have a Velbon tripod using the same leg extension method, resulting in a very compact, but perfectly solid device, so when this came along, I couldn’t resist....same degree of solidity and VERY compact when collapsed..probably the shortest in the monopod range..well pleased with it..

Very light and compact, just the job for travel and use with my Sony A6000 with a fairly heavy long lens attached. Would not be the ideal with my Canon 7D Mk2 and some of the lenses I use on this.So this is perfect for TRAVEL and that's what I want it for.

One of the best bits of 'kit' I've ever bought. Its light, sturdy, packs away very small and it's surprisingly long - considering it's fold-down size. Having used it a lot since purchase, I am very pleased with the performance, looks and sheer useability.

Nice well made monopod. Very compact when folded and opens out to an impressive height. My one and only criticism is that the rubber foot is not removable and it would have been absolutely perfect if it had a way of attaching a stand
