Excellent tripod, not much heavier than the carbon version. The quick turn legs are brilliant, you can do all leg sections in seconds. They hold well when tightened too. The push button fold down centre column packs the tripod down so it fits on the tripod hoops on my Billingham. The matt grey finish is nice with the red accents on the leg parts. There's also a small centre column for when you want to get really low, just pop the main column out and fit it along with the head. The bh-50 head is very smooth. All of the knobs have a rubberised covering giving it a more upmarket feel. you have the panoramic 360 knob, the ball clamp knob and a friction knob to adjust the ball feel when the main clamp is undone. The head can be removed by pulling the rubber bump stop down and unscrewing the 2 small allen bolts (key supplied). The qr plate looks like an arca size, it also has a D ring on the bolt for easy tool free removal. The only slight negatives are that the bubble level is obscured by the camera when on the tripod. The head is a faff to remove. The small rubber feet swivel around so they'll need to be checked regularly so you do not lose them. These are small complaints though.Overall, highly recommended.

Reason of purchase: Needed a VERY light tripod to carry to trips around - Achieves/ExceedsPurchase Cost: Satisfactory, although it could be few pounds cheaper - AchievesStability: If you are using big lenses, you probably need to get a hook to get an extra weight. I've noticed it is not 100% sturdy on semi-rocky surfaces or windy days as it gets a bit flimsy. I'd say it will be a reliable fella for the 85% of your travels though as is to me. - Ok/sort of achievesSupported Camera weight: Vanguard advertises 6kg for CB; not tested but it does not seem to handle more than 4kg. I've tried Z6+200-500 and with 80-400. Bad combos. - FailsHead: Although it is advertised as a good head, and apparently looks like one, i had to replace it. My mistake was that i did not read the description well. It clearly says Arca "type compatible" plate, which is not an exact Arca .Overall, i'm satisfied with it, at some point you need to compromise with the pluses and minuses it has. To me and my style of photography, it's a good companion. Hope it will work for you too!

Overall I really like this tripod as I was fed up with some aspects of my Manfrotto Befree Advanced. Possibly being slightly harsh but marked it down 1 start because: 1. I wish Vanguard had retained the flip locks on the older model as much prefer their security, 2. the central column doesn't have a hook to hang a weight on you have to get a 'stone bag' to do that which is extra cost and something more to carry, 3. the bag is very tight fit which is a common issue people raise with Vanguard tripods & 4 the rubber feet have no texture so not sure how secure they will be on wet rock and although their are optional spiked feet no option for rock claws. Don't get me wrong,it's a really nice travel tripod and the carbon fibre version is nice and light just with a few minor changes it could be just about perfect.

I loved the look of this tripod from the start, and when I purchased this, there was a nice offer to get a camera bag for absolutely FREE from Vanguard! And needing a camera bag, it couldn’t have been a better offer. This being my second tripod, coming from a much heavier, and bigger tripod, I found this to be very light, and easy to use. The twist lock legs are a dream to use, saving so much time over my previous clip locks. The ball head is strong, has a handy level on top and allows for vertical compositions, which is a nice feature.Long story short, it’s a very sturdy tripod with many time saving features, and also the fact it’s portable to travel with,I could not complain.I would recommend highly and I hope this small review helps others.

Expensive but worth it. Super lightweight and quick to errect. It is pretty stable as long as you don’t quite fully extend. I am 5’10” and I find the full height just right. There is a hole on which you can add a bag hook, shame yhat does not come as standard. But otherwise, I love this travel tripod. If you are looking for stability first weight second, then look elsewhere. But if you are looking for the best blanace between weight and performance on the go, this is it.

Lightweight and of a good quality construction. Find it quite quick to put up, although the swing through centre column is a touch heavy and could be more stable when extended. You can remove the centre column and attach the ball head to a plate on the top, this makes it super light however you need an Alan key to remove the ball head.I did like the fact that the bag can accommodate the tripod with the ball head attached if you are not using the centre column.

Only used once so far night shoot Singapore brought for lightness and easy to travel. Extremely impressed on initial use. Amateur landscape photographer at heart and believe it will fill the majority of my needs. Excellent value particularly if the offer is still on for the free photography bag which this fits into. Using it with canon 5d my ll , not tried yet but believe sturdy enough to take 400mm lens on camera as well

Very pleased with this tripod. Only complaint is fitting the short centre column. The instructions are impossible to understand and I can’t figure it out from look at the tripod. I note it requires an Allen key to replace one with the other. I can’t see me changing things while out in the field, that’s way to fiddly, just going to loose parts that way. That’s why I’m only giving the tripod 4 out of 5.

Amazing product, have been looking for a good strong and good sized tripod for a year now and have always heard great reviewers of vanguard products and was not disappointed this tripod is amazing and has greatly helped propel my photography business from great astral photography to amazing portraits the vanguard VEO 2 has helped me amazingly and I could not recommend it anymore amazing product.

I bought this tripod mainly for its compact design but was very pleasantly surprised how well made it is. I have only used it a couple of times but it performed better than I expected, the ball head worked really well and supported my Cannon D5 very well with a 24-70mm lens attached it never felt like it was unsafe.Time will tell how good it really is but so far definitely worth 5 stars.

This is a very elegantly designed piece of kit but I think few pictures in the form of an instruction card would have been useful and the mechanism for unfolding it is novel and not so easy to use, I had to look at a youtube video several times. And I have still not quite go the hang of extending the legs and being sure the whole thing will not collapst.

I have a passion for photography and I needed a tripod urgently to take to my trip to Madeira Island, after deep research ,the VEO 2 235AB it's the best in the market for the ones that are looking for a great quality built tripod at a reasonable price! I can say I'm a really happy customer! Fits perfectly in my Douchbag ”The Base”!

I spent hours comparing travel tripods on amazon. It’s always hard choosing something unseen. However when it arrived I couldn’t be happier. It’s very well constructed. The ball head appears very high quality for the price. For me it’s the perfect travel tripod, it does everything it claims. Highly recommended!

I purchased this after reading the reviews, but I was disappointed with it. I’m not tall (only 5’9”) and I found it too short to use, without having the centre column extended all the way up. Which then increases the risk of unwanted movement.I ended up selling it and upgrading to a more stable tripod.

I am a mature cameraman who uses tripod only occasionally. So, it is best to keep it compact and sometime I can carry around during the trip. This is the best one I have ever imagine. Cost-performance is wonderful. Highly recommended!
