Hello! Thanks for looking at my review. I am very pleased with this TP Link product! In fact, I am so pleased with it that I feel that it is well worth reviewing on Amazon. Here is my setup. Essentially I am internet sharing with a family member. In order to d o so, I mounted an "AP" TP-Link antenna on the outside of their house about 12 feet off the ground. I then used CAT5e to wire a connect to it from the network switch. After that, I wired a TP-link antenna on my house in "Client" mode using the same configuration. I then plugged it into my ASUS wireless router. The mounting originally was not very good. They were not angled correctly so I used the meter built into the antenna to figure out the best possible angle. This was a fantastic feature that I am very grateful they included. After orientating them correctly, I began to receiving the signal. I established the internet connection and was getting 50/30 internet. I double checked with TP-Link's tech support (which was very responsive) and they said that was a really good connection. While the antennas say they can do 300/300, you have to look to see that for some reason the LAN connection is only 10/100. That being said, I was very pleased with the connection speed. I can steam 4K content all while browsing the internet.Overall, I am very happy with this antenna. I have tested it in several Minnesota storms - including wind, hail, rain, snow, and grossly low temps. If you're looking for a reliable internet connection using a fixed antenna, look no further. It gets almost no more reliable and consistent than this product. FYI, I purchased two.-----Update-----I now have had an uninterrupted connection for 20 days. I am extremely pleased with the reliability of this product!____UpdateI still have yet to have an issue with this product. I was originally concerned because the max network speed is really limited by the 10/100 mbps network port rather than the 300 mbps wireless negotiating speed, but frankly I have never had a significant slow down. I have a constant load on my network due to four iPads, one TIVO, three laptops, four Google Homes, six smart switches, three smartphones, two ROKU TVs, and other miscellaneous devices. Most of these are constantly running some sort of process in the background if they aren't being used actively. While my up/down speed test shows I'm usually getting 30/30 - 50/40, the connection and speed are so stable it doesn't matter if I'm not getting faster up/down speeds.I will set a calendar reminder to update this during February! We'll see how rural Minnesota weather treats them.

MY GOAL: Stream TV through a Roku in a camper running on 12VDC in a back field 400 feet from our house and router. MY PLAN: Purchase two TP-Link CPE510 Wifi transmitters (one in AP mode, one in Client mode), a TP-Link AC750 travel router to connect to the CPE510 in Client mode, and a Tycon 12VDC to 24VDC POE converter (TP-DCDC-1224) to replace the 120VAC POE that came with the CPE510. Step 1: Mount the first transmitter (in AP mode) outside of our 3rd-story attic window to send the signal over an outbuilding, point it to our back field, and connect it to our main router via 50 feet of Cat 7 STP ethernet cable. Step 2: Attach the second transmitter (in Client mode) to the side of our camper, connect it to the DC POE converter inside the camper via 30 feet of Cat 7 STP cable, and then connect the POE to the USB-powered TP-Link travel router. The Roku (also USB-powered) would then connect to the new travel router network. This all sounded great in theory, but I never got to step 2. I am getting 120 Mbps download speed inside the house with our Spectrum router. I was able to get 50 Mbps at the camper directly from the CPE510 on the house. I did have to turn MAXtream off to receive internet without using the second CPE510. This is amazing to me. 50 Mbps internet 400 feet from the router and transmitter. The Roku works just fine after connecting to the new CPE510_Outdoor network.I have since returned the second CPE510, the travel router, and the POE converter. They are not needed. Thank you, TP-Link. This is a great product, but from a business perspective, maybe too good.

My problem was with understanding how to use the computer to access the TP Link unit to reprogram the frequency. This unit is used with the amateur radio system know as Mesh Net. We are just starting up our mesh net and there are only a few units up right now. Some have encountered problems with trying to sent a signal through leafy trees, only to find out they can't. Leafy trees absorb the microwave signal much the same way a microwave oven cooks food, only no heating of the leaves occur. The microwave energy in these units is too low to cause any problems. This particular unit has a maximum power out of about 0.25 Watt. Not enough paths exist yet, but more are planned. We are looking at initially using at least three high points to use as nodes until more units come on line. Overall, this is a good, inexpensive, unit for beginners to start with, and also to allow expansion of the Mesh Net inexpensively, These unit are NOT intended for distances over 15 miles under the best conditions. More powerful units coupled with parabolic reflectors must be used for long hops. The distances depend on the gain of the reflector, power output of the microwave transmitter, height, and terrain. READ the instructions that comes with the unit! This can avoid disappointments. And understand that microwaves do behave differently than VHF or UHF signals.

After seeing $300+ directional wifi extension antennas and the like, I came by these affordable little gadgets! At $47 a pop I bought two. Configured one as an Access Point at the main residence (hard-wired to the LAN) and the second as a Client over 250' away where internet connectivity was desired. The wizards included as part of the administrative portals these come loaded with made setup a breeze using a laptop and browser.Attached an additional Netgear AP to the Client device to have full wired and wireless LAN access at the client device location (in this case our workshop). The TP-Link Access Point device alone boosted the wifi signal easily 400+ feet. However at about 250-300+'away wireless devices (phone, laptop, etc) would not have enough power for two-way communication back to the AP - hence the need for the second Client device.Hardwired to LAN or 5G wireless at the main residence (where the cable modem & AP is located): 120Mbps↓ and 5Mbps↑Hardwired to LAN or 5G wireless at the workshop (where Client is located): 80Mbps↓ and 5Mbps↑Highly recommend for cheaply and easily extending your network wirelessly. Solid performance right out of the box at 250-400'; did not test at longer distances even though there are additional device configurations for it.

Excellent product. Don't listen to reviews that complain about the directional antenna or this being hard to setup. A little bit of knowledge goes a long way. This is designed to be a directional antenna. If you need an antenna that covers 360 degrees around then buy an omni-directional antenna. In repeater mode this type of antenna requires the source signal to be close or in it's field of coverage and then it will repeat it for up to 9 miles. I pointed this at my garage 900 feet away and I am able to internet with a laptop. As a seller on Amazon in a rural area I depend on my wifi. I've had two other TP-Link products running now for 2 years without any "zero" down time. The Pharos interface is the easiest I've seen yet. I had mine running in two minutes. One of the reviews I read spoke about it requiring an Ethernet cable. "Of course it does!!" The power over Ethernet allows you to not have to run a separate power cable and it allows you to connect to the unit from inside the building from your power injector. One cable is all that is required for the permanent installation. You only need a small Ethernet cable for initial setup. These 3 or 4 foot cables are included in with any router or access point. Great product!!!!

I just ran a weather proof cat 5 cable up my refrigerator vent and over to my tv antenna mast. I mounted the cpe10 5g onto the mast and now I can beat the system by locking onto the root AP. Most campgrounds use a mesh wifi network and if you are running through multiple APs to get the internet you are going to have tons of lag and jitter. This is more than an AP, has a built in firewall with many features such as ACL. I didnt realize it could be used as a local WIFI in addition to a WISP so no need for another WIFI firewall in my RV, this does it all. I'll probably buy a 2.6g version of this for campgrounds that dont use 5g. You can spend hundreds on "rv wisp" devices or $50 on this and probably have a better, easier to use product. Now, I dont know about longevity yet but after 4 days Im impressed. I may buy a 100% warranty with instant replacement (another unit stored away for $50). I've been a network engineer for many years. this is a solid product which will protect you from other campground snoops.. Never connect your computer to the campground wifi directly. Guys like me like to exploit your open shares just to see if we can. Ubiquity makes a better product but Im too cheap.

I read some other reviews before buying these to link my house to our shop across the field. Some buyers complained of a lack of clear instructions for configuring the antennas to create a p2p network. The hard copy installation guide and the tp-link video were created for the professional or the gifted amateur. While they are written clearly in a step by step format, there are some pretty big gaps in a couple of the steps that could be filled in for the benefit of the rest of us. The hardware installation and alignment portions are easy to follow but the configuration/pretest portion could be better. It's not enough to say "do the other one the same way". If both antennas need the same or different ssid, user name, password, ip, etc please say so a bit more specifically. If plugging into a lan port on my wireless router is not the same as plugging into a lan port on a laptop during the config process let us know. That said, my network is up and running great. Thanks for the fine product!

Just to note, this if for 5GHz routers not 2.4GHz routers. I have a dual band router at home, but was using this at my Grandparents house to deliver Wi-Fi to their guest house 300 ft away and shed 450ft. They had a 2.4 GHz router. So I had to use this device as a separate AP connected via Ethernet cable to their wireless router to deliver the outdoor Wi-Fi. Not a big deal, I’ll reconfigure this setup when they upgrade the router to 5 GHz. The CPE510 would not give good signal through a glass window, BUT once I opened the window and provided line of sight to where we wanted Wi-Fi, it worked great! Full Wi-Fi signal inside the guest house at 300ft!! And 75% signal at 450-500ft! Streamed YouTube no problem. We eventually mounted the CPE510 outside and have no issues. The only downside is that this unit takes a little bit of networking experience to get going and set up (just pay some neighborhood kid to set it up), but once you are configured this unit is awesome!

rock solid stable. using to connect to another place @ 0.3km away and getting full dignal strength + 60mbps from to point to point.I have 40Mibit Fiber internet and getting the same speed at the other end too, was skeptical initially to buy or not but it is working really very well...the front is glossy :( I put a plastic cover and a hole at the bottom to keep it clean outdoor, fixed to a pole.UPDATE: Ordered on 11 December 2016STILL ROCK SOLID.Tp-Link WR740n, DVR, PC, WiFi - > AP -------- Client <-router - 2x PC, 1 DVR, WiFiThinking to go to ubiquiti one but has no service, tp link much better than that in service and reliability. if PoE adapter dies, it is 24v and easily available to replace due to standard 24v,ubiqiti has 25v and many other issues too, cheap quality, breaking rings, etc, TP link has a solid installation base and I am using this since 2 months without any issue,

Rarely do I write a review for a product unless it really performs. This is the case here.I had a unique application that required a strong directed Wi-Fi signal at an old RV 250 feet away into a grove of cedars. This was complicated by near blockage of line of sight by the roofline, the Internet dish, and trees. This sucker threw 200 milli watts Wi-Fi power down a narrow Corredor to the RV. Where there was none before, My devices there now see a 5X5 Wi-Fi signal and download Data rates at the limit of my Internet service provider. It may not be for everyone, but it solved my problem. Let’s see how long it works? My only complaint, and the reason why this is not five stars,is that I had to set it up with a hardwired ethernet connection to a computer. My service doesn’t have one, so I had to dig out the old laptop with a vista operating system. Still worked.

this is what i need it! I placed one above my house as the Access Point, and the other one at my church’s roof. they are about 350m apart with a barely clear line of sight. I know i should have them at a height where the ‘whatever is called’ zone is free from any objects. also I have not used the tools provided to properly align the antenas to each other, however test show I am getting -40db signal from the antenas which is impressive and I am getting about 80 Mbps down and 98Mbps up. I know if i get them higher and properly aligned i would get so much better performance but i don’t need it since my internet is capped at 120Mbps.I almost forgot to mention that there are a ton of houses between the antenas and when surveying for channels or clients these things pickup like 40 different networks in my area

My situation : apartment has free WiFi, but the signal is too weakI bought one device in hoping to enhance the WiFi signalsHow to : follow the YouTube video to get to the set up page , set it up as bridge, the important part is : click on “survey” to find the network that you wan to connect and lock itComment: best 50 dollar I have spent in 2020 . This save me so much money and time. My old 30 dollar tplink extender die after 2 year so I decided to give this a try . Not only I can set up my own WiFi and password, my download speed went up to 30mbps instantly . What a huge difference. The setup was the huge pain, the one on the video only talk about how to set up with two devices which is useless to me,but the two hours set up time is still wayyyyyy cheaper than my 100 internet bill

I've used this transmitter as a long range access point for remote control of my audio console (Allen & Heath Qu-Pac). With this device set up in the Access Point operation mode and connected to my Apple Airport, I'm allowed both control of my mixer, as well as the ability to utilize the functions on my Airport wireless router, such as a network printer and file storage, and Airplay functionality. I can't find any fault with the wireless coverage, signal integrity is extremely stable, and I've had no problems with plug and play functionality after the initially configuring the transmitter. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and I hope that this review helps to steer more audio engineers towards this device, which has quickly become an invaluable tool at my disposal.

I would encourage anyone buying this product to visit the FAQ section of the product support page for detailed instructions on setting them up. Do not use the included pamphlet. A lot depends on how you configure the transmitters.I’ve got one set up as a AP and another as a client for a remote building about 0.1 km away. They have a negotiated thruput of 300 mbps with a signal strength of 64db. Download speed is 100 mbps. As others have pointed out, the LAN port on the device is 100 mbps as opposed to 1gig, which limits thruput to 100 mbps(hence 4 stars)Setup fairly easy if you have novice networking knowledge, but check those setup tutorials on tp-link.com for instructions..Overall very satisfied with the results at a fairly good price point.Would recommend.

I needed to get internet to a second building about 250-300ft from my primary building.I had already tried and gave up on a used Ligo system when a component went bad on the one of the boards. It was cheaper to by two of these units than to replace of one the Ligo units.Mounting was a little tricky because I was mounting to a flat surface, not a pole. However, once up, the connection and configuration was a breeze using the supplied software.Directions were very clear. Signal is great and throughput better than my Internet provider so I am very pleased.I get 4 bars of signal strength at about 300ft and very little tree interference,so your experience might vary.I will get these again if I have the same need.
