Don't let the name throw you; Belkin's Wireless G Gaming Adapter is a sound and reliable bridge, by all means this isn't just for your gaming consoles.Assuming most users will have some degree of security on their networks initially the bridge will need configuring with your network settings; this can be done with the supplied software disc or, in my opinion, much more easily using the bridge's internal interface (initially accessed at "192.168.2.225"). Either way - to configure it you will need to use your computer.Connect up the bridge to an Ethernet (LAN) port on your computer ensuring that either you or the DHCP sets the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)of the connection to a suitable address subnet to access the bridge - the initial IP of the F5D7330 is '192.168.2.225' (so the IP address of the connection should be set as '192.168.2.xx' where "xx" is any number between 1 and 255 (with the exception of 225), subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 and the gateway as 192.168.2.225). Then with either the software disc supplied or the internal interface set the appropriate network settings. Don't forget if your using MAC filtering to allow the MAC of the bridge (found on the back under "WLAN/LAN MAC Address") plus any of the devices you connect to it to associate with your router. Use the MAC address of the device connected to the bridge (NOT the bridge MAC) if you are setting static IP rules.Belkin has some detailed support material that can be accessed from their US support site which can be useful if your having some problems (search for 'F5D7330'). When all of the configuring is done the Wireless G Gaming Adapter saves these settings internally to connect to the network in the future when required.Truly a quality product from Belkin. Came shipped with firmware version F5D7330_2.0.0.2 out of the box (MAY 07) meaning we had compatibility with WPA2 networks from the word go. Those with older versions of the bridge (those beginning with "ver. 1..." or "ver. 20...") can download the 1.00.09 firmware release (which you can find from their UK support site) to add compatibility for WPA/WPA2 networks. So far not had a single disconnect yet, the speed and range of the thing is excellent (comes with one detachable antenna - unlike the picture shown to date), we've used it to connect our PC's and PlayStation 2 consoles without any problems, it can also be used with Xbox/360 consoles too. Superb buy, cannot recommend it more.

As others before me, I got this rather than get the rather pricey (in my opinion) Microsoft X-Box adapter. The unit is very slick and sits nicely on top of the X-Box 360. It can be powered via 2 x USB ports from the X-Box with the lead provided (my preferred solution) or via the mains adapter. So, what's the catch?Well, first thing to note is this is not the UK version of the device hence you get an adapter plug seperately. This is really not an issue so don't be put off by it. Second, the paperwork in the box is not in english. Again, not a problem as the english version can be found on the CD (or downloaded from Belkin come to that). My biggest issue was with the set-up of the device.Like any sensible(!) individual, my wireless network is secured so the easy 'press a button' option to configure the device was not an option. So instead I would use the Wizard on the accompanying CD which was supposed to make all of that a piece of cake. Unfortunately the software failed to recognise that the the device had been attached to my XP PC so I had to follow the manual instructions. These were okay but I would imagine could be a bit daunting to to general PC user. Following the instructions *carefully* I was able to complete the set up and get the device to bridge the connection between the PC and the wireless router. Once I had done that, I simply unplugged it from the PC and plugged into into the X-Box and 'hey-presto', instant connection to my network and X-Box live.So far I have been really pleased with the reliability and whilst I have had the occasional drop-out, I suspect that has more to do with my ageing router which needs replacing (next on the list!). So, my verdict is this is a great 'cheap' alternative to the Microsoft offering for gaming but as this is basically a wireless bridge it's a good choice for connecting any device with a network port to your wireless network too! If it wasn't for the slightly clunky configuration I had to go through (the wizard may work for you) then this would have got 5 stars from me without doubt.

This is not the easiest item to set up at all.It would only work straight out of the box with an unsecured network and needs the set up disk to allow you to configure it to a WEP protected network. However, for those with WPA (such as me on Sky), it then gets a lot harder. The software supplied is the 1.00.07 version which is WEP only and the English language Belkin sites do not seem to support the bridge. However, you can go on a German or French version and download 1.00.09 firmware for the bridge (a *.bin file). This then leads to more complications as the setup.exe file is for 1.00.07 and you need to alter the router settings via the Internet Explorer route (192.68.2.225). At first,my network could not see this address and it was only altering the DHCP settings on my router could I then go in and enter the WPA key. However, in order for my router to work again, I had to change the DHCP settings back to default which meant I could not get to the bridge configuration page (the router is upstairs in the study so I connect into it wired usually). However, once you can get to the bridge internet page, you can update the firmware which then allows you to format the bridge for a WPA network (just browse to where you stored the *.bin file; no need to use Magic ISO or anything like that). Having done it, but not being able to connect to the internet through the laptop, I took it down to the blu-ray player (my reason for getting it as it has an ethernet port) and the settings i put onto it work and it is currently downloading a software as I write. Took a couple of hours and a few dead ends but it now seems to be working. I have not tried it via BD-live but that is for later. So after a lot of trouble setting it up, it does work. I also set it up on a Vista laptop so the software does seem to work on Vista but unfortunately the software supplied is no good if you have WPA security but it can be found (with trouble and Google Translator).

I bought this to connect one of the new network enabled Panasonic Freesat PVRs to my wireless network. There are issues in setting this up. The wizard could not find the device when it was connected to an XP machine with the TCP/IP settings changed as recommended and I had to resort to using the web interface on the device. The main problem I found arose from the fact that the factory default IP address was not in the subnet range I use. Easy enough to change the settings on a PC to match it during set-up, but then once your new settings for your own network take effect - the PC loses connectivity with the adapter. If you have made any errors or omissions in configuring the adapter and it doesn't connect to your wireless network first time - there is no option but to reset it to the factory settings with the recessed button on the back and start all over again. After a couple of iterations, I had the right settings on the adapter and it was connected to my wireless network. From that point on, the device is rock-solid and the settings are retained. Connect it to your ethernet device, power it up and it will connect within less than 5 seconds. Throughput and signal quality are excellent and I am happily streaming (for example) YouTube video to my TV.There are more and more ethernet enabled Audio/Visual devices coming on the market and the options for connecting them wirelessly are very limited. It does seem there is a gap in the market for simpler versions of this type of adapter. In the meantime, I would recommend this to anyone who has the patience to go through the set-up...after all, you only have to it once and there aren't many other choices.

Having got cheesed off with the intermittent wireless connection on my Y-CAM infrared network camera, I completely disabled the camera wireless circuit internally (if I didn't it would forever be trying to connect and wouldn't allow an ethernet connection), and connected it via ethernet and the wireless "gaming" adaptor instead. The camera now works flawlessly through the bridge from anywhere in the house. The adaptor is a bit awkward to set up initially, because of the choice of default IP address (192.168.2.225) which is on subnet 192.168.2.xxx, (my router would only accept 192.168.1.xxx) so I had to configure an ethernet port on my computer on the same subnet in order to access the adapter and change it to an unused IP on my network subnet for convenient access through my router (I used 192.168.1.113).I then set up the adapter for secure wireless connection to my network, switched everything off, plugged in the camera ethernet cable (the camera IP address was static and not modified), switched the adaptor back on, and bingo, I could access the camera as though the bridge didn't exist (except now the wireless connection is stable). The adapter settings page can still be accessed via it's own IP address (192.168.1.113), which is now also a unique IP on my network. One word of advice - Once the adapter is set up DO NOT use the autoconnect button on the rear panel, as this will scrub all the wireless settings, and you will have to start again (great feature Belkin)The adapter will work with any ethernet based device it seems, not just gaming consoles. I would certainly recommend the adapter to anyone with a similar problem.

I have had this router for a few days now and I honestly can't fault it. I purchased this for my XBOX 360 and was initially unsure if I had made the right choice as many of the reviews I read were not favourable. However once I had set it up all my fears disappeared as I was amazed at how easy it was to set up. Literally 5mins after unpacking it was ready to go. I was already using a secured dlink wireless router with my PC, laptop and psp and the Belkin router works fine with it. I did have to use the installation CD it came with but this was very, very easy to do; if I didn't have a password protected connection then it was simply a matter of pressing the button on the back of the router andconnection was instant!I have been on XBOX live for the last 12 or so hours playing Halo 3 and I have experienced no problems whatsoever. This is truly a good piece of kit and at £34.99 (the price I paid) it is well worth the money compared to the overpriced offical XBOX 360 version. Also as an added bonus it's the same colour as the XBOX 360 which is great, they were made for each other!Overall this is a great product which I would highly recommend!!

This unit performs faultlessly and is easy to configure if your wireless network conforms to some of the common ways to set up a network (e.g encryption enabled/disabled). If however you are using MAC address filtering then configuration becomes a little more complicated. I added the MAC address that was printed on a label on the underside of the unit to my wireless router but the gaming adapter still didn't connect to the network. Even after running the configuration software a few times and pressing the autoconnect button a few times, nothing! Then having read an earlier review about configuring the adapter using the internal web based interface I was able to find that the unit replicates the MAC address of the wired device you've plugged into it (e.g your XBox or PC)and it's this MAC address that needs to be added to your router. Once the correct MAC was found and added to my router, the unit sprang into life and has worked very well ever since. If you don't have MAC filtering enabled on your router then none of this will effect you. If you do use MAC filtering then this and the previous review should save you a bit of head scratching.

This proved a great way to get XBox Live working, without splashing out for the XBox genuine (expensive) article. You need to have an unsecured wireless network for this to work straight out of the box - not recommended. The way to get it working on a secured wireless network will need it to be configured on a PC. This will take probably 15 minutes or so if you're unfamiliar with what to do, but it is quite straightforward. Once you've configured it on a PC, you can use it with a PC or any other device that has an ethernet port to connect to your wireless network. If you are doubtful about whether or not this works, put those doubts aside because it does work. If you are not prepared to set the adapter up,you will need to have your wireless network unsecured and I would not recommend doing that. If you want to maintain security, then you're probably the sort of person who will invest a little time configuring the adapter on a PC. Either way - go for it!Good value too - my son has seen this on sale in shops at double the price.

My next door neighbour bought this for his son's Xbox and although a bit difficult to set up said it worked very well, and the price of £14.99 was an amazing bargain compared to Xbox's own adapter at about £60.00! I bought the Belkin too for my son and found it easy to set up, the only problem encountered was after loading the disc (using my pc to set it up as opposed to direct onto Xbox) and then following the instructions to connect the leads and power cable....the next instruction asked me to select a network - but it didn't show one.....so I pressed the button on the back of the Belkin for auto connect and then after restarting the software it picked up my network. The signal upstairs to my downstairs wireless is excellent with no drop off - my son hasn't complained at all. As an aside, our Xbox is a basic one and just has one USB port, so can't use the Belkins USB power supply because it needs 2 ports (has a twin USB lead) - so just used the mains lead supplied. Hope this helps. Recommend for the price alone.

It was a tricky install. I did need a computer attached to the internet and google to work out how to use it. Auto install didn't quite work and manual install wouldn't let me select the high index my network was set on. Selecting a lower index on by router or doing a part auto install then manually filling in the rest worked fine.I still without doubt give it 5 stars. The first reason is that I have used a handful of different usb wifi sticks and non of them could cope in a few key areas of my house. This item did not have the same problem. The second reason is that once set up, any item that has Ethernet now has a plug in and play connection to my router. No new configuration. Xbox,PC and BT Vision all worked fine. The third reason is that it is already connected when windows starts. I can get on the internet quicker than a usb drive. No waiting for windows to connect. Finally it leaves by usb drives and bus free for other things. The only hesitation about not buying more is that we are now onto wireless N.

I was looking for a way to connect my new TV to my wireless network at home. I already have a wireless router upstairs, and needed a way to connect up my TV. As all my TV had on the back was an Ethernet port, I didn't fancy running an ethernet cable through the house. I also didn't want to spend a fortune buying a second full-blown wireless router. This device solves that problem. You connect the Ethernet cable from the TV (or X-box, PS3, blue-ray player... anything with an Ethernet port) to the back of the device. It then connects this to your wireless network. The setup is fairly simple. You first need to connect the device directly to your PC, but this is only so you can set up any encryption keys you are using.Once you've done that, you don't need to put it anywhere near a PC again. You can power it either with the mains adaptor, or using the power from two USB slots, (cable provided). I use the mains adaptor, as this is easier for me, but others may find the USB option more appealing.

I bought this to connect my 360 wirelessly, and it does what it's meant to. I have a few things that I feel are important to clarify, though.I do not recommend it for those who aren't familiar with setting up networks. I found it to be mildly difficult to get working, and I'm trained in computers. You do NOT need the AC adaptor included, if you're using it with the 360. You plug in the ethernet and the USB, and it will use the USB for power.I couldn't get the set up on the disc to work. It detected my adaptor, unlike most of the complaints here, but the results did not connect. Also, the set up is a little confusing, since it says to plug in the adaptor, and it looks like both buttons are greyed out, when they're not, and you have to hit next to continue. In the end, I used the we based set up listed in the manual, and everything worked. So, in the end, not the simplest method, but it does work, and the little bit of frustration is well worth the difference in cost.

I was worried that this product would make my XBox Live connection slow and lag, but it works fine with a 54Mbps router. There are a few moments occasionally (about once every hour) when the game lags behind a bit, but its nothing too disruptive, and it depends on how good your router is.People have been saying you have to download extra firmware if you want WPA or WPA 2 support for your network, but it seems this problem has been fixed, as all I had to do was load the CD and follow a few steps on the PC, plug it into the XBox and I was off. I didnt need to configure the router on the XBox dashboard, it was all done on the PC.The adapter can be powered by either two USB ports (the ones in the XBox work fine)or a power adapter. It also fits in with the colour scheme of the XBox 360, so it is not much of an eyesore. All in all, a great product, just as good if not better than the official XBox 360 adapter at a lower price.

PROS:great receptionreliablecheap alternativeCONS:little tricky to set upplug needed adapterI had been wanting to use xbox live for a few months so I took a look at the different adapters on offer and obviously settled on the Belkin, and am so glad I did. I've got the adapter at the other end of my house but it gives a brilliant, constant connection to my router. Have used it regularly for 2 months now and the signal has only cut out once (for about 10 seconds). As other reviewers have said it did take a little while to set up (reckon 1/2hr -- 1hr tops if your unlucky) but its been hassle free ever since. The only minor flaw I found is that the plug supplied with mine was a 2pin rather than regular 3 pin so I needed an adapter (which luckily I had).I'm assuming plug's the same on all of them but maybe mine was a one-off, either way, gotta give this 5 stars, really solid once you get it up and running.

Unfortunately in vista you have to manually configure the device which can be a bit daunting to people who dont know what theyre doing, it must be connected to the ethernet port in your computer or on the router to be configured. For some reason i couldnt access the config settings when it was plugged into the router, i got the status screen but it wouldnt load anything else, strange.Anyways its all working now, beats the official adapter because this one supports WPA encryption and it can be used for other things which i doubt the microsoft adapter can be used for.Actually i thought this took me an entire day to set up but for some reason i still couldnt get live through it,turns out xbox live was down that day for maintenance... doh! Belkin adapter was working correctly the whole time.
