This really is something else. At the time of writing this review Doom is already garnering rave previews, and the Doom branding is prominent on this powered headset. The set is eye-catchingly boxed with the branding. As well as the X-Box One, this has Windows 10 compatibility. One of the key features of this set is the Sound Commander panel connection to the X-Box One game pad controller which is designed to give a Doom-specific experience. Doom 7.1 mode can be enabled/disabled on this. The panel needs to be charged before use for use with the headset, a micro USB - USB connecting lead is supplied for this. The manual (available online, not in the box) states the average charge time to be 4 hours.A red Y icon on the panel changes to green when charging and switches off once charged. There is a Game/Chat mode, and the detachable microphone can also be enabled/disabled from the Sound Commander panel. Player voice feedback can also be enabled/disabled, and the BASS mode gives a super enhanced bass, which is already something else, with the volume being adjustable from the panel. There are LED displays to indicate the volume levels at either 50 or 100% and whether features are enabled or disabled.I tried these as audio headphones as well, and the bass sound is truly awesome without the enhancement from the panel, There is a very well-padded brown pleather headband and the brown pleather fabric lined earcovers are very comfortable. The headband is the standard slide adjustment on this type of headband. At the time of this review, the Doom game still has be released, so these are my general impressions of the set and not those specific to the game.

Whilst clearly aimed towards the gaming XBOX market, this headset also produces an acceptable audio quality (slightly muffled) for music as well, so could double up for both requirements. The bass is perfectly good for gaming but this is very slightly lacking for music across a variety of genres.Gaming sounds are well defined and, even during fairly prolonged play (we go at least three hours each time here), the headset remains comfortable even if the wearer has glasses. Sound is well-contained so that disturbance to others is kept to a minimum and outside noise is also much subdued to the wearer (I couldn’t hear someone enter the room whilst I was playing),so you are unlikely to be distracted at a key moment in the game.Charging time is good at around 4 hours (the light on the power pack goes out when a full charge is achieved) and trailing cable distraction is minimal as the headset plugs straight into the handset, so you are not constrained by a cable to the console either. I recharge after each use to ensure the headset is ready for next use.For their primary purpose of gaming, these are very good. They are also acceptable for music, so offer a good all round solution.

I did a side-by-side comparison of these headphones with some cheaper virtual Surround Sound headphones and these are a LOT better. In particular, you get a lot of bass – you really notice it with low frequency sounds such as explosions. If you have ordinary headphones without virtual Surround Sound then I strongly recommend upgrading to ones with it. It makes such a difference.I now do not play games through loudspeakers – I put these headphones on. You can hear so much more, and it is a much more immersive experience. Bullets zip from left to right, for example. They feel comfortable on my head and over my ears.Any disadvantages? They are expensive (£97.67 at the time of writing). They beat my other ones hands down – there is no comparison - but my others currently cost just £15 so you would expect a massive difference. My point: these Thrustmaster ones are great. But if you are short on cash and do not have virtual Surround Sound headphones, you can pick up wired headphones with a detachable microphone and 7.1 virtual Surround Sound for under £15. If you have the money, these Thrustmaster ones are worth it.

I was really looking forward to receiving this headset to use with my console, I love Doom and thought this looked awesome.I do not have the new Doom as yet, as it is still only available to pre-order, but cannot wait to pair the too together. The headset looks great, it has a nice strong look about it, is branded with 'Doom' and 'Thrustmaster' and is a combination of black, red and brown with some grey specks for effect. I love how it looks. You are provided with a special panel that connects onto the xbox one controller, and this actually is pretty easy to do, and I was a little skeptical about the wire getting in my way, but it has not been a problem so far.The sound that comes through these is clear, and the bass is phenomenal. I have never heard such good bass in a set of gaming headphones. You really can tell exactly where sounds are coming from in the game.Very easy to adjust volume, and very nice overall. I love them!

A great piece of kit for use with Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC. It can also be used as headphones to listen to music but I wouldn't recommend it if you like your sounds to sound really good. Its surround sound system is perfect if you want to get into the game and feel the explosions and artillery. It is comfortable to wear and well made. Great but pricey.

Lightweight yet sturdy and comfortable to wear. A good range of frequencies, from the thunderous base right up to very faint, subtle sounds. I can hear details when playing games on Xbox that I couldn't before. The 7.1 is good in games but best turned off for watching movies, YouTube videos, etc. Very happy with purchase.

This is good for gaming. You can heart faint, subtle sounds. The 7.1 is nice for gaming, makes it really immersive. The bass is good — perhaps too pronounced. (Fine for playing Doom, but not so suitable for other things.)They are lightweight. You can wear them for hours without fatigue.

Gets top marks from my young nephew who is far more games savvy than me. If you want to be totally immersed in the Shoot 'Em Up experience then these (pricey) headphones are probably just your cup of blue cheer. Just don't take it out on the streets y'all.

This Gaming Headset from Guillemot is ideal for serious X-Box gamers or anyone who's got a Windows 10 PC. Get right where the action is and hear all the nuances of the game...happy listening:).
