I have replaced a product that was all design and not a lot a functionality. This Synology has no design concept but a lot of features.The router is slightly on the large side for starters so be aware or this should you want to put on your mantle piece, but I chose to wall mount mine.Configuration is not a straight forward as plug and play, so read the instructions. By default the duel-band (2.4 / 5) are set to auto mode so you will broadcast the wifi under a single name and your device will determine which signal to pick up. This I found is not as clever as it may sound... I have a couple of B&O A9's which only pick-up 2.4 and neither could filter the 2.4 from the auto duel-band.

Great router, brought for a large, extended 1930s 4 bed house with many connected devices.Signal strength and speed:With many double brick thick walls between rooms and spread over 3 floors. The signal from this reaches from ground to loft with a good signal and when paired with a mr2200ac in mesh setup reaches all corners of the house and into end of 120ft back garden.Connected devices:With many such as TVs, audio players, tablets, laptops, smart assistants, ovens, light switches etc. I have seen no dropouts or need to reboot. I have only been running this for a week though but so far so good.Security and features:- Has great security and child content protection and scheduling.- QOS feature

add burden on the CPU but the security is fully customised.When I use my connection fully 100Mbs that goes usually at 110Mbs, I have seen the CPU goes up to 85% serving 6 or more internal clients under same setup as above. I would conclude that I am worried about the CPU levels (the free memory is 140MB) with 1 WAN. The hardware is clearly to its limits or the software is not matured now. More ports would no be managed since the CPU is way underpowered for the task.I would like to confirm poor wifi performance on 2.4Ghz 75~85 Mbs against 99 Mbs (Virgin Router 2AC - first virgin AC iteration 887 Mbs ) Hopefully will be fixed with a software update. No problems on Virginmedia bridge-synology link,

I've bought many of the "latest superfast routers" boasting every feature and looking like a cross between a stealth fighter and a hedgehog .... and every single one of them has been disappointing! Their interfaces are dreadful, and more money has been spent on how they look than how they work. This unit has understated looks (nice, but not like a modern trainer), but the inside is what matters! Love this router! It's done everything it said it would, and more. I now have a great VPN back to my home NAS, it's fast, and the interface is seriously good. This unit is expensive, but buy well buy once! (It's cheaper than the many routers that don't work properly!)

Replaced ageing router with the RT2600AC (already have one of their NAS boxes), coverage and speed around the house is a lot better and some 3 to 5 times faster, setup is very comprehansive and the VPN into the router is plus. Have only had it a month now but extremely pleased and consider it good value for the price tag.

This router does the lot. Easy interface and child profiles to limit the there time on the internet (free). WiFi range is good just works without any drop outs. Loads of options including adding a mesh network. Recommended

I am a fan of Synology equipment and this router did not dissappoint me. It was very easy to set up (alongside my VirginMedia Hub 3 modem) and configuring it is simple.

Most advanced home router available. IPS works great and I can see threats being blocked all the time. Wifi band steering is excellent too. Recommended.

Top notch domestic router, its got all the control I need, decent security and safe browsing features and time schedules per user and device.

Easy to set up and install with a great Android App.Remember that this is a router only and you will need a separate modem.

definitly the best router i have used. Great wifi coverage and strong signals throughout the house. Highly recommended!!!

Great router for managing home network, especially when you have kids - parental control, internet access schedule etc.
