There are three different versions of Norton’s 2016 available and this review is for the Deluxe edition - installed on PC running Vista and a Windows 7 laptop - that provides five licences that can be used on any combination of PCs, Macs, smartphones or tablets. The standard version provides security for either one PC or Mac and the Premium version is the same as the Deluxe except that it provides 10 licences and includes some cloud backup & storage options and extra online security for kids.I've been using Norton on my Windows laptop and desktop for years and this year for the first time ever it was cheaper for me to renew online with Norton’s than buy it from Amazon (but the price has now gone up again on Norton’s website).Norton runs silently and unobtrusively in the background effortlessly taking care of business and I more or less forget about until I get a prompt to renew my licence. Set-up your options for when you want it to update virus definitions, run scheduled scans, carry out background tasks, etc and it all just happens effortlessly with no noticeable impact on my PCs. If you just want peace of mind against nasties lurking on the web, opt for this - that little Norton logo with a green tick displayed in the task bar is VERY reassuring.I'm also using it on my Android smartphone and as well as the usual anti-malware, you can block calls and websites, back up your contacts and there are Anti-theft tools that enable you to locate your device and lock or wipe it if you need to. There's also an App Advisor that's checks the security of apps. To be honest, I wouldn't purchase this solely to use on an Android device (I only installed it because I had a spare licence) because there are free alternatives that are just as good and Google's Android Device Manager covers the Anti-Theft functions that this offers. This year Norton are providing a "100% Virus Protection Promise" where if you get a virus and one of their experts can’t remotely remove it, you’ll get your money back. However, if you buy this from Amazon you’ll have to subscribe to their automatic renewal service to be eligible. I’d advise against signing up for auto-renewal because you’ll be at the mercy of Norton when it’s time to renew. I suppose you could sign up for it and get the extra cover and cancel the auto-renew a few weeks before your licence expires.*Windows 10 Edge browser compatibility*"If you're using the Edge browser in Windows 10, there are issues. Here's an extract from the Norton website:Compatibility of Norton Toolbar and Norton Identity Safe with Microsoft Edge browserBased on information Microsoft has provided to date, several browser-based protection and identity features that are provided in Norton products are not compatible with Edge, including Identity Safe, Safe Search, Safe Web, Anti-phishing, and Scam Insight. We are investigating alternative ways to deliver these features for Microsoft Edge. In the meantime, we encourage customers using Norton security products to use Internet Explorer or another supported web browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to enjoy these features.Microsoft has indicated that it will continue to improve Edge and will allow browser extensions in the near future."

I like to stay diversified with security products, since most huge problems come from them jamming my computer (hence the need to switch), or from security update patches (turn them off). So when Kaspersky started blocking firefox -- a known bad habit, but still irritating that they have not fixed it for good, and when Kaspersky started self-unloading, I mentally gave them three days to fix it, then shopped around for alternatives. Wise to Black Friday, I first checked here on Amazon, and I found lower prices, plus, the ability to order a one-computer licence. So, wary of uninstalling an AV, I googled what I needed to do, and found a specific tool. NB, this stage is extremely important. For instance,in the past, for one product, it required uninstallation while in Safe mode, and I in my arrogance tried it in normal mode, and got trapped. I could not re-install, and I could not fully uninstall. It took Zsoft Uninstaller, looking for registry traces, to get out of that. Here is the good news. Norton detected traces of the previous AV and offered to clear them up for me. Top marks.But. First I uninstalled my old AV. Then I had to turn on the wifi, and go to the internet to download the stub, then the whole version of Norton. That is like standing up and standing still on top of the trenches in WW1. Absolute folly. Of course, old style Windows defender etc should have re-appeared when my AV was deleted, but they did not. Not every AV leaves them installed. Not only did I have to download the program. I also had to register and receive an email confirmation link to click on. Then I had to paste in my registration code a second time, but it was called by a different name so that confused me for a few minutes, all the while thinking about those viruses I was exposed to. Come on Norton. Clearer, step by step instructions are needed. Tell us in the instructions, to do all this first, THEN to uninstall old AV and reboot at least twice, then come back to the download link. Better still, Tell us to register, download in full, then turn off Wifi, and do the work.On installation, a few questions were asked. Prewarned by previous reviews, I turned off the autorenew. Browser extensions were a new one to me. I said no. You can study and change these options later. I then did a quickscan. Note, Norton did not offer to do this. I was foolish -- I had no idea how Norton would handle whatever it found. Fortunately it was only a few of the worst tracking cookies, and I had the option to contradict Norton's advice.Time will tell how solid Norton will be. I appreciate that it has a strong firewall component, and is one of the few to retain this -- unlike for instance Emsisoft products. I had a big, extremely courteous ding-dong about them about that when they discontinued Online Armor, and insisted a firewall was not important therefore they could use the one built into Windows7. I am of the opinion that the single most important defense is a first rate control of programs on the computer and their internet access. That is provided by Norton. Time will tell if it gives issues.

I choose 'activation by post' so received a card with a serial key on. Very easy to setup although i was already using Norton Security so it was a matter of logging into my norton account and entering serial key.Although i don't have 10 devices to use Norton Security Premium on, it's great if i do get anymore, i imagine families will appreciate the 10 devices protection. I bought on Amazon when on offer for £16 which is much cheaper than Norton who wanted £79.99. A huge saving to be had. Works out at £1.60 per device for a years protection at the price i paid.I don't use the 25GB backup as have my own backup system and don't like storing my data in the cloud, neither do i use the parental controls, web browser protection as i have my own setup on router level.I use Norton Security Premium on my android devices, windows virtual machines, i have a mac but don't use norton on my mac. I have never had problems with the software on android or windows it just works although i do like to customise allot of the advanced setting for my own use, although it simply works for novice users without needing to customise anything. No battery drainage/performance issues on android either.Once upon a time i would never have recommended Norton as back in the day their products caused major problems for many of their users but over the past few years the software has matured and is something i would now recommend.I use av-test to check each year which antivirus & security programs are rated highly. av-test is an independent research institute for IT security based in Germany and a very valuable website in my opinion and recommend people check it out.Norton got top marks from av-test:Protection Score 6.0/6.0 (detected 100% of all samples of malware such as viruses, worms or Trojan horses)Performance Score 6.0/6.0Usability Score 6.0/6.0Great all round security for all your devices at a great price, simple installation, non intrusive unlike some other antivirus/security software that can overwhelm users with intrusive popups and asking to to confirm things that some users probably wouldn't know what to choose. Works quietly in the background without hogging system resources.Overall i highly recommend Norton Security (i purchased Norton Security Premium 10 devices 1 year protection), just keep an eye out on prices as they vary and change allot. It's a full security package for all of your devices and there are tons of features to many to mention. If you are looking for full security protection with plenty of features then i highly recommend Norton Security.

*Most of what I say in this review echoes the views and advice offered by other reviewers.Norton products are pretty good and have always been in the top five rankings in my experience. However, Norton offers are a bit tricky. Here is what I have found:- If you are buying this product to renew an existing Norton Security subscription (because it's cheaper than accepting Norton's 'renew now' offer in the software) don't enter the product key from this pack until the last day of your existing sub. Norton will *not* carry forward remaining days from your existing sub! (The Norton carry forward only applies if you accept its own 'renew now' offer which costs more than buying from Amazon.)I was caught out with this and nearly lost nearly 8 weeks protection under my existing subscription - but see the update below.***UPDATE - Following the example of another reviewer, I started an online chat session with Norton and the adviser credited my new product with the unused days from the existing one, so all is fine. If you want to avoid the hassle of doing this - and Norton does not promise to honour this sort of request - don't renew until the last day of your existing sub.- Norton Security comes in Standard, Deluxe and Premium varieties, protecting 1, 5 or 10 devices respectively. Deluxe and Premium versions advertise protection for smartphones and tablets as well as PCs and Macs. Standard is advertised for PCs and Macs only.- The Norton '100% virus protection promise' (large print at the top of the pack) has terms and conditions (6 point type at the bottom of the pack) which require you to be (quote) '... enrolled in automatic service renewal online.' I think (optimistically) that this is to enable Norton to credit your bank account if it needs to give you your money back, but ... up to you. These details aside, Norton is not bad and pretty stable. Once or twice a year it gets flaky - usually after a bug in one of the updates - but Norton is quick to resolve any hiccoughs. Once every year or two I receive a 'your trial period is expiring' alert, which is bonkers, and I have to delete and re-install ... it seems unnecessary but glitches sometimes happen. It helps to have the Norton Removal Tool (free) saved on your PC 'just in case'. Having said that, the last 9-10 months have been fine so I am pretty relaxed. Most important of all, no system of mine has ever been zonked by bad stuff since running Norton, and I have been using its AV products for many, many years.

This edition of Norton Security Premium represents good value for money in that it provides protection for up to 10 devices such as Windows PCs, Macs, phones and tablets etc. for a year. Sitting at the top of the Norton hierarchy of home products Norton Security Premium offers both comprehensive protection as well as up to 25GB of Cloud storage. It's always hard for domestic consumers to really evaluate how effective security products are but Norton together with a couple other brands have been in the top 3 when it comes to protection in most professional reviews I've read. In addition, post installation the package doesn't seem to exert much pressure on my i5, 12GB RAM Windows 10 PC.My only gripe is that there still seems to be a problem in support for the MS Edge browser but as I've stuck with Explorer there's no practical difficulty for me. The Norton interface is easy to understand and updates seem very frequent - often hourly. If I had a gripe it's that installation is made a bit more complex because Norton have changed their product range. For example, if you're running Norton 360 you can't simply enter the subscription code from this package, you have to uninstall Norton 360 and install Norton Security Premium, I appreciate for some of us this isn't a big deal. However, for many users like my elderly relatives this is an unnecessary hassle. Also, I also didn't get credit for the remaining days on my Norton 360 package when I installed this software presumably, as it is deemed to be a different product although, if you ask nicely I'm told this might get fixed. In summary, once installed this Norton Security Premium Package benchmarks in professional tests as least as well as most of the other top brands of security products. This version offers good value covering 10 devices and throwing in some Cloud storage too, however, I think for existing Norton users the transition ought to be a bit smoother.

I've used Norton for years, it has never let me (or my family) down. However, I find the renew subscription a complete rip off and a friend years ago said you save money by buying it new each year, And you know, he was right. I have saved each year by buying it from Amazon. This year I got it for £25. Norton offered it to me for £39 claiming this was half price. NO Amazon was half price not Norton ! Cancel any automatic renew.DO NOT RENEW - Buy a new version from Amazon. I have copied the following instructions from another review as it was dead easy to follow and I had renewed with my product key within a minute. Some have had problems so this is really easy......You do not need to uninstall /re install Norton. You will loose any remaining days on your existing subscription so only update a day or so before the end of existing sub. I did mine 2 days before hand and due to Amazon's quick service only ordered it with 6 days remaining. I am now up and running. Here's how to get your new key code activated to update your subscription.OPEN NORTON.GO TO THE HELP BUTTON IN THE TOP RIGHT AND CLICK.SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT PANEL and where it says in blue writing - ENTER PRODUCT KEY . Click this.SIGN INTO NORTON (your norton account) if you have not done so already. It will connect with Norton server. Takes a minute. Just wait.THEN ENTER YOUR NEW PRODUCT KEY CODE in the box provided. No need to put the '-' inbetween the numbers this is done automatically for you - Just enter the 25 numbers and letters (blocks of 5) in the box. (or copy from email then paste is easier)SUBMIT. You will see your Days left on the subscription panel will have a brand new year left now. DONE.You have now saved yourself £20 or more.

This is brilliant - Norton are the BEST at the security job for computers. Takes just a few mins to change from your old one to this - NO DELETING YOUR OLD ONE FIRST EITHER. I paid quite a bit for my first (computer man put it on for me when I changed from XP to W7 (up to then I had used free AVG anti-virus with a Zone Alarm firewall, which seemed to work to a point) - but my computer man said they are free for a reason - they only work to a point, you need Norton full security, so I have put it on for you. From that day on I have never had any trouble with my PC or laptop at all. They just do their job in the background, let you know what is going on,ask your permission to do a full search when needed and update themselves too. When it ran out and wanted renewing I was just about to just pay for renewal, when Amazon told me about this one at less than half price to my renewal. I had a look and thought I'd better just check it out - before I had chance Norton popped up with "your security needs renewing" alongside a personal chat - I clicked this and asked if this would do the job instead of me paying more to renew. The very nice lady said yes, it would be a better option and you would not just have the same cover but as it is a much better "Delux" with more features it is a good bargain. Also this does for 5 P.C.'s/laptops/ipad etc. I asked if I could have it on 2 P.C.s and 2 laptops - the answer "Yes you can put on any 5 items"I am glad I purchased and highly recommend to anyone thinking of renewing - and that was the easy part. You just click onto renew and it comes up with 2 options - pay for renewal or add a new code - so just added code from box and it just updated everything - done in a few mins.

Having been a Norton customer for ages I bought this from Amazon with the intention of renewing subscription. Norton has been nagging me for about three weeks to renew. I bought this product and it arrived today. I have had about seventeen days subscription left.Anyway I followed the renew links and put in my key. Done. I checked my subscription status and I have 366 days!WHAT? Where is the seventeen days I already had. Gone.I am in fact right now online with Norton. This was their reply. "No, I just want you to know that it will not automatically be added on your existing subscription. You will need to contact us first so that we will be the one to add the existing subscription. This is because the old Norton program and the new one has different product key.".In other words I have lost seventeen days.Norton says: the seventeen days can be returned, if I give my billing address. (Yet they don't have my billing address.)Will I provide the product key then. (Not really a good idea I think to give my product key to anyone.)Anyway in the end we got there. I got the seventeen days back.WARNING THEN: Either wait until you Norton is on its last day. Or get online and connect with Norton Support to add you old subscription to new subscription.I have knocked a star off because I just discovered Norton is default set to defrag your hard drive. Since I have an SSD I did not want this. I guess it's been jumbling bits of files around since I installed my PC. Not what you do with an SSD. You want them where you put them.If I am incorrect and defragmenting an SSD is alright then this is a five star product.

I was debating or not whether to buy this product, having been quoted £65 by a competitor which I'd been with for 6 years. I read the reviews and noted some 5 star, but more concerning, some 1 star suggesting this was a scam, some saying they never received the code or that the code did not work.I thought for £12 it was worth a go. I received the code via email instantly. It included guidance on how to install too. I began installing but was met with a "installation failed" message. This was due to the old security software I had was not fully uninstalled. I tried for a while by myself to uninstall it completely but failed and was met repeatedly with the "installation failed" message.I feared those 1 star reviews were right.I gave the Norton helpline a call, expecting disappointment and to be charged further for either a clean up of my laptop or for them to uninstall the old software and install Norton. I got through to someone within 2 minutes. They accessed my laptop remotely. To begin with they were repeatedly met by the "installation failed" message. I thought the reviews stating this was a scam were going to be true and I would be told it was not genuine software or something alike. However, the helpful chap told me he would need 20 - 30 minutes and he would have it all sorted. And he did. The software was installed and the old software removed. And for no extra charge.Thoroughly pleased. Great service from Amazon, great service from Norton, and great product for a fraction of the price I'd paid previously.

I bought this at £29 and at time of writing this the price has increased somewhat. Now this is a new product to the previous NIS and 360 so you don't automatically add on the days remaining on those earlier products to this new one but a quick "chat" with Norton can do that for you. I have now got this working on Android, Windows 7 and Windows 10. Would be nice if a Linux version was also available. Now this is simply a card with a number on it. You download an installer from Norton which is a tiny 1MB file. Run this and it removes the old software together with lots of warnings from Windows about lack of antivirus, firewall etc. Ignore these, let the PC reboot and it will complete the install, connect to your Norton account where you enter license code.On Android it adds an app checker, this links to the Google App store and as you browse around will give you a "rating" on the safety of the application. It also reports on Risk for installed apps with some strange results, well not so strange if you use 3/4G as apps like Netflix are flagged as High Risk because they have high data usage. You can trust apps you know are OK and Norton leaves it alone.Overall I'm happy to continue to use Norton for my AV/Security but hope that towards renewal there will be another special to get the next subscription cheaper.

Lots of reviews below stated that this it was difficult to find where to enter your new subscription renewal Norton product key code. (that you have probably just purchased.)Norton do not make it easy and by default (somewhat missleading) take you to their own subscription renew page which costs more than your product key code! Requesting you update from their own page. It's then impossible to navigate anywhere in Norton to update using your key code. This (in my opinion ) not entirely ethical given you have purchased a NORTON renewal with a new key code.Going to the Norton chat help was a waste of time and they were not willing or helpful in assisting with where to enter the new key code or how to navigate the site. You do not need to uninstall /re install Norton. There is no skip link (that I could find.)Do not use the Norton renew button. You will loose any remaining days on your existing subscription so only update a day or so before the end of existing sub. Here's how to get your new key code activated to update your subscription.OPEN NORTON.GO TO THE HELP BUTTON TOP RIGHT AND CLICK.SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM AND CLICK..ENTER NEW KEY CODE.SIGN INTO NORTON (your norton account)THEN ENTER YOUR NEW KEY CODE (or copy from email then paste is easier)SUBMIT.DONE.

Excellent product. Good value. If you are buying it as a first time user then it’s excellent. However, if you are buying it to renew an existing licence then you need to ensure that you don’t install it until just before the old one expires, otherwise you will lose any remaining days on your old licence. These can be recovered if you contact their tech support team. Unlike other products of this type on the market, there is no way of entering the new licence code in a way that adds it to the end of your existing licence. This appears to be because they want you to renew your licence through them - at their prices. I only got round the problem by contacting their tech support, via a chat line.I was then asked to send them the new licence code and they merged the new and old licences together. It’s a bit of a clunky process but it ensures you get the best value from your product. Another point to remember is that once you have installed the “Utilities” software that comes with this product you never have to buy that add on again it is yours in perpetuity on the machine on which you first installed it. That said Norton is an excellent product and I have never had any virus, malware, or other technical problems since I started using it for all my (5) devices.

That time had arrived again, the old security was up for renewal, and I really wasn't keen to continue with my old one, Norton came onto my radar, I found the install process very trying, but managed it in the end, and going on the user interface, it is already impressing far more than its predecessor, it goes much deeper than I expected, plenty of user defined settings my previous security didn't, and if it lives up to its appearance, my devices should be safe, not that there is much on them of interest to hackers, but hopefully if they do want to have a look round, they are going to have to work for it, my only issue was with the install process, firstly the link on the package wouldn't open,I put that down to my other security being jealous I was moving on and it was trying to stop me, but once registered had a couple of problems with got resolved without need to contact support, so not big problems, though why these companies make the registering and install so complex is beyond me, but sorted now, and set it on its first scan, a full scan, which took just a third of the time my previous security would, yet scanned roughly the same number of files, so I guess this one knows what its doing

I've used Norton since viruses decided the best place to breed were computers. Anyway, for some reason, I felt the last version was getting in my way of blocking an application or two, and when renewal came up, I decided to cross the floor and try out another pesticide. I then took the plunge and decided to go for the 'K' (no names mentioned). What a mistake! The other AV's claim to run in the background, but one gets quite wary when things are running by stealth, as one may not be able to actually see exactly what these things are up to. Within 48 hours of installing the other AV, it bombed out may prized WD passport drive, as well as my treasured Sandisk SD card - all in one fell of swoop - when I allowed it to 'scan'these peripherals. It has corrupted both, resulting in my losing valuable data, reformatting each, etc. I've now come back to Norton, which together with the invaluable 'utility' facility, and a very neat dashboard, which one may access, and tweak as needed. Hence, my advice, don't bother to read all the sales stuff with the others - get this now!

This new user licence item was £20 cheaper from Amazon than renewing my existing account directly with Norton - something not right there. However I lost 21 days of my expiring Norton Internet when I entered my new user licence code in - I didn't realise this would happen but obviously wanted to remain protected so did it early - I contacted Norton to complain about pricing and the loss of the 21 days and they were very helpful as they changed the dates in their system so I got my new licence code extended by a further 21 days. I cant fault both Amazon for the pricing and Norton for their quick action which was completed whilst I was on the phone - 5 stars to both. Finally I have tried other security software but have found Norton to be the best and least intrusive for a personal/domestic environment on multiple devices. I am not in I.T. so cant answer any technical questions but 5 years in with Norton now and have had no user problems - If you need something easy and need confidence your security software is protecting you then I would certainly recommend.
