Norton Internet Security really is an allround great piece of software. Giving you the peace of mind to surf the web, read your emails and chat online without fear of hackers, viruses et al whilst it queitly works in the background protecting you and your family.Perhaps my favourite aspect of this software is that you choose the level of control. If, like me, you like to leave things to their own devices, then thats fine. If you so choose, it doesn't bombard you with messages asking you what to do, instead it can lean from your previous actions and decide for itself. However, if you want to make all the choices for yourself, that's perfectly possible too.

I bought 3 copies of this system security suite as an upgrade to 2003/5 versions and have used 2 other versions of Norton software before. My first install of v.2006 on an XP(SP2)machine fouled up and the software locked at startup /registration stage every reboot.The only way to unfreeze was to disable at startup.I tried support but support is very menu driven, although I had better e mail support than some other reveiwers.A simple way out I tried proved to be uninstalling AOL entirely, (not just AOL Spyware zappper)as the programme seems to interfere with installation.Once Norton was there and registered AOL reinstalls fine and both work well together(even Zapper).Broadband is a must as software is configured to auto update,

I have installed this on both my Windows XP Media Centre PC and my laptop running Windows XP Professional without any problems and both machines showed a perfect bill of health when checked with Norton's on line Security Check.There is no doubt it is a little lacking in spyware protection, but it is generally acknowledged that no one spyware checker is sufficient, it is usually recommended one regularly runs Ad-Aware, Spybot and Micrososft Anti-Spyware, these are all free.Another excellent precaution is to use the free version of Privacy Guardian that removes all cookies and Internet Temporary files on boot up.Having used McAfee for the past two years I feel quite as secure with Norton at

The security suite comes with a personal firewall, spam protection, and ad-blocker and many other tools (of course also including virus protection)Installation was simple and straight forward; the setup easy enough even for a novice user like myself. After my subscription of the previous Norton ran out i knew i needed to start looking at a suitable replacement which i do not enjoy as the classic Norton or McAfee debate comes into play. However seeing as i have always used Norton i saw myself as best staying with it especially as it has always worked efficiently and protected my computer with the upmost security. I had anticipated their new 2006 range of products so decided to buy the Norton Internet Security and it has been absolutely great, very user-friendly but still offers a comprehensive and secure level of protection. If you need an Anti-virus program for your PC then look no further.

People have left bad reviews because the program is too slow. But if you set it up right there is no difference. You have to change you ~Virtual Memory~. To do this you go Start - Control Panel - System - Advanced - Performance Settings -Advanced - Virtual Memory Change. Click on System managed size (This will let your pc decide how much it needs automatically and i recommend this setting) or you can limit it too.If you do this, Norton works a treat! Even if you play computer games on it.I strongly advise you to buy norton as it is simple to use and reliable. As long as you keep on Liveupdating, you should stay virus free!!!

After spending the better part of two days getting my PC back to work after some virus had taken over control I made sure that I wouldn't go online again without appropriate measures being taken.Norton Internet Security 2006 offers security throughout everything I do on- and even off-line. Mostly online, of course, still the AntiVirus will control files on the harddisk as well whilst other modules check all data traffic over the network, scan e-mails or secure the settings of my browser.Norton lets me use my PC at ease again without having to fear another meltdown with every other website or e-mail that I open.

I was astonished to read just how many different forms of malware exist and that they are apparently common enough to warrant protection against them. Norton Internet Security does a great job not only addressing these issues, but also in guiding and supporting the suer on the way to proper protection.The installation process is easy and straight forward; it includes initial system scans as well as a first upgrade and highly automated customization process.In short, it's the right package for everyone that requires any degree of security and is looking for a user-friendly way to achieve it.

Read the reviews and was surprised at some of the comments. As with any software, there is always a potential for conflicts with other programs, so preparation is the key to successful installation. I had been trying out various other Firewall/ Antivirus software utilities and all seem to have some irriating fault of some kind. Norton Internet Security does slow down the computer more than most, but it works effectivly. Just make sure you completely uninstall all past traces of firewall/ Antivirus software including old NORTON ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE.

Being a novice PC user I have always used Norton basically because it was supplied with the PC when purchased new. I have never had any problems but I am a basic internet user ie surf the web and emails etc for me it meets my needs and I have heard from other PC users to stick to the software your used to unless you know how to defragment your disc - please don't ask me what that means! Stick to what you know is my motto, for me Norton meets my needs even though I know there are other anti-virus software suppliers out there.

Was a bit nervous about purchasing this having read other reviewers, however such a good price decided to take the plunge and wow was it worth it. Running XP pro and 2005 was sluggish but this version has just speeded everything up, maybe it was due to the fact I didn't unload 2005 version first but just let the 2006 find it's own way? Anyway bit of a gamble and it paid off, much better interface, easier to use and better graphics, touch wood no problems so far.

Installed fine and doesn't seem to have slowed my laptop down. I was using the 2005 version but have recently upgraded to 2006 due to the Spyware capabilities.Yes, there are some pop-ups, but I seem to be used to these now, and most of them are in the bottom right hand corner and don't get in the way anyway.All in all, a nice product to keep your PC safe online.
