Super Mario Maker 2 is one of the more unique games for the Switch boasting an almost unlimited amount of replay value. The game is a ‘do it yourself’ program where you are given a large range of tools and themes to create your own Super Mario levels. There are different types of terrains, blocks, power ups and even enemies that can be placed anywhere you want. It all works on a grid system and you place the item that you want onto the map until you create the level of your dreams…or something close anyway. The game also has several different level themes such as the classic overworld, underground, Ghost House, sky and even Koopa’s Castle. None of these change how the levels plays (although a couple will let you add water or lava)and are more for cosmetic reasons but it is still great to see all the different styles.Once complete you can upload your creation to the servers and in turn, play other peoples creations from amazing levels that wouldn’t be out of place in a real Nintendo game to insane levels that are created just to put you in a fit of rage. However, this is the biggest problem with the game, you NEED Nintendo Online. If you don’t then you can’t upload your work nor can you play other peoples levels. I feel this really is a disgusting move on Nintendo’s part as a big part of the first game was the community. It does have a single player campaign of 100 levels but they feel more like novelty ones that act as inspiration on what you could make. Also it should be noted that there is a tutorial system to help show you how to build your own levels or you can just dive in with no help.Graphically the game is pretty good with the ability to chose from several different level themes from the first game on the NES, Super Mario 3, Mario World and Mario U. There is a whole new theme too based on the Mario 3D World (the one with the cat outfits) but apart from a few gameplay changes it nothing overly special.Sound is of course fantastic with each style of game have the correct soundtrack for the game. For example if you select Mario World, it will play the Mario World themes. Sound effects are also great with some silly sounding ones you can add to the levels for a humours effect. So is the game worth it? I’d say yes with a but. The main focus of this game is to create your own levels so if that is not something you’d enjoy then there isn’t much here for you. The user created levels are interesting and are winnable (you have to finish your own level first before you can upload.). However, it should also be noted that you NEED Nintendo Online which may not be expensive, it still another cost to add to the game.An enjoyable and fun game overall though and will easily have new user created content for years to come.

Super Mario Maker 2 is finally here! This super sequel to Super Mario Maker on the Wii U (rip wii u): even though it is technically the 3rd because of the 3DS Edition which no one talks about. New items means crazier courses; now players can use items like: the swinging claw, seesaw platforms, and an all-new game style! The new Super Mario 3D World style is much more different than the other four; not only is there exclusive items like clear pipes, new enemies and Koopa Troopa Cars; yes Koopa Troopa Cars that the player can drive themselves! There may even be more game styles coming as DLC. And we FINALLY have slopes! Using slopes in the Super Mario Bros style won’t have much effect on players but on enemies they work great. The new online co-op and Vs. Modes are great ways to play together; Vs. Mode randomly selects a course posted on course world and four players (each randomly assigned with either Mario, Luigi (yay), Blue Toad or Toadett) race to the end of a level. Players can now put tags on their courses and now also put a description. Co-op on the other hand makes four players work together to beat the course and if one player wins, everyone wins! There is no amibo compatibility even though I only have one. Sorry if this a bit long there is just SO many things in Super Mario Maker 2 that I don’t even have time to list them all or this would take probably 1 hour just to read it all.

I'm a huge fan of 2D platformers, they're my favourite genre and I really liked the original Mario Maker, so I bought this knowing I would almost certainly enjoy it, but it has exceeded my expectations completely. There are so many ways to play this, it's crazy. I've made a handful of levels, but that would have taken no more than about ten hours, and I've logged in over 350 in total so far.Sometimes I feel like going through the newly uploaded levels to try and be the first person to complete them, others I'll go into the popular level section and try to get the world record. Occasionally I'll simply play casually and enjoy it as a standard Mario game. I barely get time to touch the other modes like endless run,vs mulitplayer, Ninji challenges etc but they're there, too! There's a huge variety of levels constantly being uploaded that I find it hard to imagine getting bored. There are speedrun levels, puzzles, traditional levels, music levels and more, across five different Mario game themes to satisfy you for whatever your favourite Mario game is.If you want to make your own levels, too, then the amount of fun and time you can sink into it increases tenfold.

I adore this game! Mario Maker 2 offers you the ability to make your own Mario stages and it isn't short of options. Hundreds of items, objects, enemies and puzzle buiding ability available to put into your own stage that you can spend hours perfecting your owm masterpiece. The online mode allows you to share these stages with the rest of the world and play each others which is a lot of fun as the most popular stages are usually genuis and made by experts as well as fans of the mario series. Likewise it feels comforting getting response back that people have played your course. A very fun community. And the Story mode it also offers is nothing short of amazing! It has a lot of heart and adorable humour as you play as Mario to rebuild Peaches castle by playing through toads jobs which are pre-made stages to earn coins.Multiplayer offers a lot too, locally you can build stages with another friend with a controller, as well as play stages together with up to 4 remotes. Also offers online multiplayer where you play stages with other people in the world.Really solid game that gives you the Super Mario experience and allows you to make it yourself

Before the updates this game was not as good as the first one. It felt like 1 step forward and 2 steps back. But now it feels like a true sequel. We now have worlds to make, the story mode is good and the online is a lot better now. It’s also good that they added more enemies and tools. Especially to 3D world as it felt a bit bare. Then adding Zelda really did give the game something that stood out from the first Mario maker. The only problem I have with the game is the lack of characters. If you played the first game you will be able to remember getting that mystery mushroom and you would turn into a different character. You could then unlock more by doing special levels online. It’s missing from the game and it’s a shame. But saying that the update has made the game feel like a sequel. As before it felt like it added some things but then also missed out a lot. I wish they would bring the mystery mushroom back.

Mario Maker two is the sequel to the excellent WiiU original that will, hopefully get the audience it so deserved. The game comes with play and make modes. The play mode provides an extensive story mode built using the tools provided in the game maker. it is excellent, shows everything there is to offer and present levels in a variety of different styles from different Mario games (all available in the builder).Maker mode is mind blowing, a huge range of tools to build your own worlds in the style of various previous Mario games. This also allows you to share them online and also play and download other people's creations (online play needed for this). It's easy to recommend to Mario fans.A great game. My son use to love playing with LBP when he was young and spent so much time on the creator, I can see kids now having just as much fun here.

An absolute great switch game, I missed out on MARIO maker when it came on on previous Nintendo consoles (the Wii U and 3DS) and thought I would give it a go. I haven’t even started the story mode yet as I am having too much fun playing other people’s created levels, there is so much variety and the only limit is your imagination. Even building your own level to upload is fun but takes practise and creativity. A great game but you need to have Nintendo online to be able to play online and play other people’s levels. I do have Nintendo online but think that this part of the current service is poor compared to other gaming platforms online business models but anyway that’s not a problem with Mario maker so hey let’s ignore that.Great game and a great price. One of the best games I have played on switch along with Zelda: Breath of the wild.

I had a Wii U but never got into the original Super Mario Maker. This sequel though is fantastic. I don't create levels, I simply play other people's and have played some exceptional stages, ranging from easy to very very hard. The story mode is also a lot of fun to play.I have played dozens of hours already to the point I am taking a break for a few days. I have played only in handheld mode so far and the game is perfect. This game is great for children and adults alike. If you have a child and you're looking for a fun game to but them on their Switch this is the best option. They can spend lots of time making levels or playing other people's (You get the code for a year's nintendo switch online with the game). Just moderate their play-time as the game is addictive.

I got this game thinking I will have so much fun playing endless courses created by the community and I end up getting hooked on creating the courses myself. The creation tools are incredibly simple yet powerful. One downside I may say is that it seems to be quite hard to get your own courses played by others perhaps due to the huge amount of courses out there ! Would be nice if Nintendo would tweak their online service so that new makers could have a chance to shine if their courses are well made.A major problem is the online multiplayer functionality. Right now it does not work half the time , ie it is so laggy it is almost unplayable.Hope this too will be resolved.Overall it is a great game but Nintendo really needs to up their their online services !

Great value with Nintendo online especially now it's added snes games like Mario kart and zelda to the mixAs for Mario maker 2.... yeah this is really good hard to start off making levels in control pad mode (remembering buttons)but easy to pick up but much easier on wii u.Loads more content added to the game and a mini story mode added to get you in to problem solving levelsI think it's on a million levels online for you to play I have a couple I've added and no one has been yet but not for beginners. Some levels made by gamers are a true spectical like luigis horror mansion it's really well done with the horror aspect aswell as a few run and jump levels that play music like we will Rock youAmust for fans

Super Mario Maker 2 is without a doubt one of the best Nintendo Switch games you could purchase right now and anywhere in the future. The game is absolutely filled to the brim with levels to play, ranging from easy, normal, hard, very hard and just absurdly hard. This game was one of my most anticipated releases on the Switch ever since the original Super Mario Maker released on the Wii U several years ago, and this addition lived up to all my expectations and more. You'll find yourself playing this over and over again, this is 100% a game I would recommend to anybody who is a fan of Mario, it'll last you for years and years. 10/10 game.

Our family are total Nintendo and mario fans. My 5yr old has started to play too and this has turned into his favourite game. It is very intuitive for little ones to build and design levels using menus and graphics, adding in details and characters as they go. You can then play the level you have designed and even upload for the community to play if you wish. You can change the graphics to replicate each of the original game themes, from original mario through to 3d world. My little one picks this up every time and is so pleased when he builds the courses for others to play. Graphics are very rich on the switch. Great fun for all!

Hours of limitless fun! Building a level is just as fun as playing the cream of the crop from other makers and the story mode is a blessing! I picked it up shortly after release and it has been more and more fun the more I go on, and seems to only be able to improve from here with possible new game styles and items. The level streaming takes no time at all, however the multiplayer online is unplayable, luckily for me I don't play that way very often. My only major qualm is that in handheld mode, the use of a physical controller (the Switch itself) is limited when making levels, which is what I primarily do.

My son (6) adores super Mario games, so after finishing odyssey and plenty of rides in mario kart, he wanted this game as he enjoyed watching YouTube videos of it.I personally haven't tried it yet, but he plays it now for a few days, and just loves it. Tutorial for making your own levels is very simple and made good, so he picked up tricks fast. As soon as you build something you can test it if it works and repair it if its not.Ofc, you can just play game as there is Story mode with plenty of levels, and you can even play co-op with your friends.overall, hours of fun guaranteed so highly recommended

I would recommend this highly, I own the original have we have recently practiced on that before buying this. I now realise we didn’t need to this so much easier than that. There are tricky bits, my 6 year old has been playing like on it like he has been playing on it for years, mind you he has had help from his 8 year old brother. Nintendo truly are the masters of game making and this is a truly majestic game. Please buy this and support Nintendo the other game makers have so much catching up to do if they want reach this standard. My next purchase will be the new Zelda game.Mr MiyamotoThank You Sir.
