My shiny new 55" Sony Bravia X70 4K Ultra HD TV arrived a week ago. The Sony Bravia KD-55X7052 55" LED 4K HDR Smart Television is an X70 model. Unpacking the Sony was very easy, following the simple, user-friendly instruction sheet that is included at the top of the box. This was especially great for ensuring that the TV was removed from its packaging safely, and without any damage to the screen or any other part of the product. Fixing the two, slim, metallic stands to the base of the TV was very easy, but did require two of us to do it.Once all the packaging was removed, the stands connected and the TV positioned in pride of place in the lounge,I have to say it looked very elegant and the minimalist design definitely draws your attention straight to the screen itself! Now it's worth mentioning that the X70 TV comes with all the usual product features you would expect from a Sony - the full-function remote and a wide range of audio, digital and USB connectors at the back of the TV (including 3 HDMI and 3 USB).It was time to switch on the TV for the first time. Start up and initial settings took about 10 minutes to do. I just followed the very helpful prompts on the screen and connected the TV to my home Wi-Fi. There were a few set up questions that needed to be answered (for recommended settings and such, all of which can be changed at any time), and a Sony EULA (End-User-License-Agreement) to be accepted. Everything else was automated, and the TV was ready in no time at all.On screen navigation using the remote is quick and intuitive, and I could access all of my favourite apps and settings with ease. The first thing I did was navigate to the built-in, ready-to-go Netflix app, and I logged in with my existing Netflix account. I started playing one of my favourite wildlife programmes on Netflix - Our Planet. The reason I chose this series was because it is in 4K, it has some of the most beautiful and spectacular scenery and really showcases a TV's colour and image quality. The picture on the new X70 TV was quite clear and crisp but for some reason it just seemed to look a little washed out to me and not quite as vibrant as the colours that we were used to on our previous Bravia XF87. But then I remembered that you should always adjust the settings to taste and so I played about with the picture settings on the new X70. The first thing I did was increase the colour settings to 60 and I decreased the brightness settings to 35. This made a radical difference and really made the quality of the image pop in terms of clarity and colour and, in particular, the sharpness or crispness of the black or darker colours.Overall, I would have to say that the display quality is excellent. And I can definitely see how the Triluminos display brings you more vibrant colours, providing a more vivid, real-life experience especially when it comes to things like nature shows.I also fired up one of my favourite, high-octane, action films from the Fast & Furious franchise to see Sony's Motionflow XR at work, and it does blow you away - even the most fast-paced, lightning movement on screen is all delivered in crystal clear, smooth and thrilling definition with no blurring.I also tested the sound quality and raised the volume up to around 75% of full volume. Now, I should point out that I use a Sony sound bar and so it is difficult to compare the sound from the TV on its own with that of a sound bar, but I would say that the sound is clear and loud and would be perfectly fine as is. My own view is that any TV would always benefit from a sound bar, especially for those viewers who insist on crisp, clear, dynamic sound. With the vibrant colours, deeper blacks, and fantastic picture clarity, I would have to say that the Sony Bravia KD-55X7052 55" LED 4K HDR Smart Television is essential if you want to create that perfect home cinema experience at an affordable price! The hardest part about setting up the TV is actually unpacking it...having said that, from the very beginning when you open the top of the delivery box..it is clear that you follow the instructions exactly..This is an easy process as the instruction/proceedure is set out in a numerical order..and I found that the sequence was very straight forward...However the emphasis is on 2 people required and this is certainly the case...The packaging is 'rugged', as could be expected, for protection and delivery. It's not advisable to rush the unpacking...very little is required by the way of tools, a cross head screw driver and that was all.the television was lifted into place by myself and my wife and the connection process was very straight forward.I was connecting mine Sony X70 to a set top box and I had the relevent cables already from the previous TV set up.. I did not need any extra connecting cables. However, a straight forward connection of the TV without and other ancillary equipment would have been extremely easy...power, aerial and network cable(where used) were the only cables required...The power cable is attached and is obviously already fitted with a power plug. The initial switching on was followed very quickly, by simple on screen instuctions and any need to choose a specific option, was shown with 'recommended values'There was nothing complicated or confusing by way of set up. After only a few minutes, I was able to watch programmes. The included user 'manual' clearly showed the functions of the buttons on the remote control and there is no confusion about the controller at all..The manual only required the need for 5/6 pages and any further instructions for set up are all on screenThe choices for audio, and picture set up, at first appear to be many but in fact selecting any given option then automatically leads you to simpler options for both screen display and sound ...I found that using the remote was very straight forward and the pressing of any button resulted in a positive and sure response to an action. At no time did I need to activate any controls on the T V itself..The picture is stunning and so clear, colours are crisp and images are sharp. I did not not think there would be any requirement with my use, for extra sound enhancements by way of sound bars etc.The volume is easliy adjusted and in a smooth way. there is no 'boom' at higher volume at all . If you do choose any extra sound system, it appears to be a very simple, straight forward process to install and complete. The apps available are varied and the usual players are included...I particularly find the addition of 'Freeview Play' a bonus app..Using the 'Home' button on the remote opens up a menu for the apps to be accessed imediately and again there is no or little delay in the loading of the apps. On screen presentation of menu choices is clear and easy to follow...The remote also features one touch opening of popular Netflix and YOUtube apps.Should you require the more advanced and other facilities of gaming etc. then the remote connects with all of these optionsFor 'techies', there are again on screen easy to follow menus for casting, photo sharing and networking..Summary....this Tv was so easy to install to the first channels being shown on screen,,the set up time was short and straight forward..The results on screen were excellent. Should you wish to have specific modes, for films, sports, or certain choices of sound options there is an simple menu process to follow in order to acheive this..Many extras include, subtitles (easy and instant to access), hard of hearing choices and adaptations for adding devices such as set top boxes, satellite systems sound equipment or gaming boxes...I have included only one phot as a requirement to show the simple and straight forward layout of the remote controller.. Fast delivery regular notification via text and email of the time and date of delivery. The X70 is very lightweight flat screen 55" TV. The design is sleek, slim, metal blade stand. I am very impressed how easy the set up process and speed. TV PVC functionality - recording cannot be started unless connect the HDD device to USB port for recording. Great ease of use to smart TV services, i.e. catchup TV, BBC iplayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My 5, UKTV, horror bites, BBC news You Tube, Netflix. I like how the X70 gives a message to reminder to set a standby/idle to switch off if you don't press the remote. Good value for money, the only downside is the motion processor has a blurred effect when it zooms in and out.The picture quality not as sharp in comparison to my OLED Sony Bravia TV, but very reasonable considering it is a LED TV. Built in freeview and satellite tuner, 4K ultra HD. I don't know the actual price for the X70. I love how the full screen takes up the whole width of the screen, so you just focus on what you are watching. You can also set up parental control. The Triluminos display for true life colour is excellent. I would definitely buy one. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This TV is excellent. At one time Sony was the "must-have" brand of TV. It had a reputation that was second to none. Well in my opinion they live up to that reputation. My only very small criticism is not with the TV but with the instructions. The Sony Bravia has 3 USB connections. This is brilliant. However we found no help in the manual or online with getting these to work. We thought it was a fault at first. By trial and error we discovered that any USB flash drive has to be 32gb or less and formatted using FAT32. I knew it wasn't a fault but take note Sony, you might want to include this in your manual. Colours are bright and vibrant and sound is very good although we have a sound bar. These can be infinitely adjusted to suit personal tastes. We live in a remote area with relatively low speed WIFI on copper, no fibre here yet, but the connection is outstanding, and instantaneous once the password was entered, it has not wavered since. Very satisfied indeed. Only had it 2 weeks so hope it stands the test of time. Happy to do another review in a year.

I initially experienced some pixel issues with fast moving images until custom adjusting some settings. Also, the sound seemed a bit 'tinny' compared to my other two Sony TVs. I have adjusted this slightly and am slowly getting used to it. Leaving it in Cinema mode seems to be the best fit for my preference.I have found that if I leave the TV in Netflix when putting it on Standby it won't reload Netflix properly the next time I switch the TV on. I have to press the 'Home' button a few times, then YouTube, then 'Home' or other combinations before pressing 'Netflix' again and it loading properly. That's pretty frustrating so don't know if it's a software glitch or a genuine issue with my set.I would have hoped for better from Sony considering it's a 4K TV,especially when cheaper makes offer the same specifications. It's swaying me to look at other makes for future purchases.

I bought this when my previous television came to the end of its life. I had to buy on line as retail outlets were closed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic so I had to choose by using a trusted on line store and a reliable brand. Smart TVs are new to me so I could have done with a better user manual. I was very much a Sony in the 1970s and in those days the manuals were clear, well written and covered every aspect of operation. The picture quality is superb and the sound quality is also very good, I do not need a soundbar. I find the navigation buttons on the remote control a bit fiddly, I regularly accidentally operate the "home" button when intending to use the "down" arrow on the home button.A more nimble fingered person may not have this problem. These are only minor niggles and are probably common amongst many modern televisions so my overall rating remains 5*

I bought this 10 days ago to replace a 2.5 year old Bravia with similar specs that had developed a fault. The new unit has distinct picture and sound improvement (sound via digital out) in line with the product description. The short width of the stand is a critical thing and that made this unit fit into the existing set up without a problem (a deal breaker otherwise)Pleased so far and like the fact the the user experience of the unit is not dedicated and dependent on Google (Android) and YouView.Would be good to have the Apple TV app as part of the apps available or Airplay direct. It would also be good to be able to display programmes in the Guide by category (this feature is available inpretty much all included apps like BBC iPlayer)

I bought this one to replace a new one (other brand) which was faulty. In hindsight I wish I had opted for this one in the first place even though this one was more expensive than my original one (both 55”)But you can tell the difference. The colour and the sharpness of the picture is such much better. My only slight gripe is that feet with them being positioned where they are, literally just fit on my TV Stand (could quite easily be knocked off) whereas others with the stand in the centre of the TV are fine.I also bought a Sony UBP-X500 Blu-ray player and the Sony HT-X8500 Sound Bar.

5.6.2020

Bought this TV to replace a new 43 inch uhd tv that was faulty, the TV was easy to set up but needed much adjustment on picture and sound to get a great result. The picture on HDMI 2 from a virgin V6 box is absolutely excellent with good sound with improvement from a sound bar.I can recommend this TV good with virgin or sky but only has limited apps with enough to get by,you will not be disapointed if you buy this TV.

A very good TV with excellent picture and sound. The reasons I have not given 5 stars is because firstly sometimes the TV does not pick up the picture and/or sound from my cable box and I have to switch on and off to get it to work. Secondly, I cannot get the TV guide to work on the TV. Not a big problem for me as I also have a guide from my cable box.

Very happy with this Sony TV, superb sharp picture, amazing colour, etc.My old Philips 42" LCD TV that this Sony has replaced is still going, 12 years old, but had lines down the screen. The picture is so much better, to be expected with a 4k TV I know, but very chuffed, thank you Very - a great price too.

I am delighted with this tv, my old Sony was working well but about 10 years old, and I wanted a Smart tv. I didn’t want an enormous tv to dominate the room, this one is perfect. The picture is so good, great colour and really clear and sharp. It was very easy to set up.

We upgraded our 12 year old Sony to this Smart t. v.Once we got everything sorted the television is proving to be great. Good picture and sound. Easy to navigate between t. v. and broadband channels. Overall we are very pleased.

Bought this tv to replace a Sony Bravia I had for over 12 years. Really pleased with the new set which, although having a larger screen than my old one, is actually smaller in overall dimensions. Very easy to set up
