I’ll start this review with a bit of description then point out the good and bad as I see them…I hope you’ll read through it :)!This game is an underestimated gem of the Sonic series and people who don’t like it can’t appreciate the great storyline throughout the game. Anyone who follows the stories closely of the main characters and who enjoyed the story lines in the games Sonic adventure 1 and 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog I think will understand and enjoy the dramatic stories throughout the game.I have really enjoyed Sonic games since the first 3D game of Sonic Adventure. Although sonic games have always had a basic story in them it was with Sonic Adventure that the stories became alive and gave a reason to go here and there rather than just randomly appearing in a desert or factory.This game was clearly a sort of sequel to the Sonic Adventure games except its clearly lost some great parts including a chao garden and the ability to play as more characters, however the game still gives you the chance to play as 3 characters, Sonic, Shadow and new hedgehog Silver.Sonic’s stages are the hardest for me purely as some of the stages have a final part where Sonic is running at top speed and you just can’t stop him or slow him down. These levels are very frustrating and there is no way to restart this part and keep your score so it can take forever to get a S rank or collect all the medals.Shadow’s stages feel more like Shadow the hedgehog although it would have been nice to have some hand weapons as well as vehicle mounted ones, although that would have led to a higher age rating.Silver’s stages are very different. Silver is very slow moving and uses his telekinesis to move objects, throwing them at enemies, or using them to move ahead. I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed playing as silver, although his story line with Blaze can leave you a bit confused if you didn’t know who Blaze is (as I didn’t when I bought this game), and in fact now that I know her from Sonic Rush it is still confusing as you'll understand if you look up Blaze's story/timeline online.GOOD POINTS:I’ll start by saying that the story line is actually very good in my opinion. It’s definitely great for those people who like to lose themselves in a story and if you like dramatic scenes then the games cut scenes are wonderfully put together. If you don’t like drama and a strong deep storyline then obviously you’ll hate the game’s story…which is what I suspect is the case with the other reviewers. The story seems to be one that people either love or hate but if you enjoy deep storylines which play on your emotions (if you let them) then this one is good.Adventure fields, these are nothing like those found in Sonic adventure however there is the ability to walk around Soleanna and find side missions to do in town and just wander around talking to people on the street. Having adventure fields also lengthens the game as your characters have to walk around town to get to another level (some people will like this feature some people won’t).The replay/unlocking factor is huge in this game. After you’ve completed the games main story there is a lot to go back and replay. Trying to get an S rank or collecting all the medals that are scattered not only in stages but in the town itself means you can be sure there will be many hours playing this game and it won’t finish too soon as I found Unleashed on PS2 did.THE BAD:Bad points do exist and the biggest gripe is definitely loading times! Everybody has said it but it’s so true. To load a stage you have to wait a long time. To load a second part of a stage you have to wait a long time. To load a side mission you have to wait a long time.Side missions while being fun, you cannot restart a mission you’ve failed so you go back to a town and go through the same process again: select someone to talk to…wait for conversation to load…have them tell you what the mission is…wait for mission to load. The loading times affect every part of this game.The LAG! The game lags, not so much in the stages but in the adventure field, particularly in certain parts of Soleanna. Missions take place in the adventure fields so they can really lag too. We’re talking about such a lag that Sonic will jump up to hit an enemy and you see the whole thing as if in slow motion.Soleanna town after you’ve finished the whole game is not as it was in sonic adventure. In adventure you could talk to people and they would speak as if all the action was over. But in this game the characters and game is set up as it was before you did the last stage. I suppose this helps you to buy all remaining things in the shop by replaying the last level and saving those coins, but the system save just felt better in the adventure games and I don't know why Sega left this game in this mode. There’s also no way to go to different parts of town and enter stages via doors and things like you could in Sonic adventure.If you've left the game for a long time then coming back to it you might be lost as to what or where to go. There's no orb or question mark to turn to, to check what you should be doing or where you should be going making Soleanna feel disappointing to walk around sometimes.Rings, as I just said, don’t accumulate while playing stages in the mission select mode. this means that to buy extra abilities you didn’t manage to get during the adventure you are forced to play only the last stage again and again to get enough rings.So:So to conclude, this game is definitely for those that enjoy the strong story lines of the new sonic series. It’s not for everybody and I can say that even I found the loading times and lag a massive frustration (I’m an extremely patient person with games and lag). The game itself though I still believe is very playable, you just have to want to play this game, being a fan of Sonic games really helps, and I would say that if someone doesn’t know the sonic series or characters they may not enjoy this game.This game does have a long replay value though, as long as you can deal with the loading times and lag in certain areas, it certainly takes much longer to complete than more recent Sonic games.As far as other reviewers have said I haven’t faced the bugs they have except for being stuck on a snowboard in crisis city, however the more you play the better you get at navigating (same as any game), and I really don’t know these other problems, maybe some reviewers is pressing the wrong buttons or not running fast enough around the loop?I’d recommend this game to sonic fans and those who love a dramatic storyline like those seen in movies, the cut scenes are great but the lag and loading is the only real drawback to this otherwise great game.ps. Any Sonic fans of sonic 2 on mega drive might recognise something about Akon’s song in this game?

As soon as I got a PS3, I started looking at this game because I've always been a big fan of sonic, especially the 3D Sonic Adventure games. I have to say, after reading so many horrifying reviews about how slow the characters are, how many glitches are in the game, and how Sonic is the only half-decent character to play as, I was afraid of buying it; however, after saying to myself 'how bad could it be?', I decided to give it a go.I am so glad I bought it! If you liked Sonic Adventure 1&2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, you should definitely give it a go. You can ignore all the reviews that say it's terrible, because out of all the problems listed, I noticed very few.Let me start with the good.

When the game came through the package I could wait to open it and play it. When I first played it I found quite hard to figure what to do but after watching walkthroughs on YouTube you get a hang of playing the game. The game consist of three different hedgehogs Sonic, Shahdow and a new member Silver the hedgehog. These three hedgehog have different aims, Silvers is to kill the ilblis trigger, shadows is part of GUN agency following president orders and sonic is too save princess Elise. Each hedghog have it's own unquie style of game play but sometimes the hedgehog over lap each other stories to make a big finali towards the end.

I am one of the few Sonic fans who enjoyed this game. I loved the storyline in the game and favorite levels are "Crisis City" and "Flame Core" . Another amazing thing was you get to play as quite a lot of Sonic characters, including Shadow, Rouge, Silver, Blaze, Knuckles, Tails, Amy and Omega (also of course Sonic). I didn't really have a problem with the controls and I only ran into a few bugs (that is probably because I may have not payed attention to them and the glitches otherwise). And one more thing, the soundtrack in the game is brilliant too. So yeah, that's my opinion regarding this game.

Only one word for this game - WOW! This game for XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 makes its debut. Everything hinges on the Blue Chaos Emerald hunt and that rotten Eggman has stolen it. The kingdom of water is under threat unless Sonic can stop Eggman. Play as Sonic, Shadow or Silver (new character) in 10 thrilling stages and stop Eggman before his plot succeeds. The minigames with Tails and Knuckles are brilliant. You can also upgrade your moves at the town shop. This game celebrates Sonic's 15th anniversary and this game is still the king of games.

I don't see why everyone complains about this game. Its brilliant! Its story is amazing, the music is so awesome I downloaded it to my iPod. And yes its a bit glitchy from time to time. Its plot,characters and story all make up for it. Its completely worth the money (and possibly more.) Its great to finally see a more serious side to the Sonic the hedgehog series. Don't listen to anyone else who complains about it. just play it for your self and see its brilliance! (Plus you also get to play as E-123 Omega)

When I was buying this game, I was fully aware of the bugs, and loading times, but I was fine with them as I had already had a go on the game at my mates.Yes Sega did make big mistakes with this game, but it is a good game, nice story and very fun.Some of these bad reviews are faulting all the bugs but really it is not Amazon or the sellers fault.It was very well packaged, and it actually came quicker than I expected! So I am happy enough with this game.

My 9yr old son (a massive Sonic fan) had read all the hype and more about this game but he really rates it as one of the best and I'm glad he made his own judgement and wasn't swayed by all the negativity as he's had hours of fun already. The chapters are great because you can play as sonic, silver, shadow and more, His two criticisms are sonic not able to run as fast as normal and silver can't attack but only stun unless there are crates nearby.

I bought this for my son, he didn't like it but I have to put that down to bad taste, he seemed to prefer Super Mario Land Galaxy 2 (an infinitely poorer game to this). The graphics are crisp, the story is incredible and without a doubt this blows the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games out of the water without any problem. Sonic fans loved this game and so will you!!

I heard this game was bad. but it exceeded my expectations. this game is horrid with long WAY too frequent load times ( load for fifteen seconds for a single string and the load for half a minute to load the thirty minute level another loading screen rankings, another loading screen and you're back to the overworld. It is more horrid than words can describe

For a game that is referred to as a broken unplayable mess and also "the worst game ever made," my experience with Sonic 06 was a pretty enjoyable one. The load times were a couple of seconds, it was pretty simple to adjust to the kinks in terms of the controls and story wasn't that difficult to follow

I seriously love this game, it is one of my favorite Sonic games ever made!! I don't get why people think it is the worst Sonic game!It was only a little bit glitchy, but not more then other games! And I love the story idea, I thinks it is really great and just Sonic style!!
