Sanitas is not a personally familiar brand but it is broadly associated with personal electronic medically-related devices such as blood sugar testers in addition to its blood pressure devices. A smaller device of another brand and intended for use near the wrist had been obtained previously, repeatedly used and found to closely concur with our GP's professional equivalent. This device is intended to be used in the upper arm area which anyone who has had their Blood Pressure taken will know as familiar and traditional and it comes with a full-width pro-style cuff designed to fit upper arms with diameters between 22 and 36cm - it should suit most. In addition to BP and pulse readings,it also offers a warning for arrhythmia (dangerous abnormal heart rhythms) and the possibility of more serious issues ahead. The device activates immediately upon powering up and therefore the cuff should be fitted in advance as shown in the diagram printed on it and the tubing connected to the device to the small hole on the left side; it needs to be pushed fully in and the connector has deep ridges to provide a sure grip when disconnecting. A WHO-approved 'traffic light' system is used to indicate excellent, OK and poor readings as an additional aid - a marker appears adjacent to the relevent colour segment of the scale printed on the casing edge.It is battery operated and has a warning should the batteries fail or need replacement. A set of 4 AA-size cells is included to get you started and replacements can be purchased world-wide, if necessary. It allows readings from up to 4 family members to be stored and compared with up to 30 previous readings for each person. For most effective use, the multilingual instruction booklet should be read and the principles fully understood before first use. The booklet includes sections on the interpretation of its readings and when it may be necessary to seek medical advice. It comes with a pouch large enough to contain the device and its cuff when folded. It could also contain a spare set of batteries should you wish (if travelling or on a cruise etc). It is quite easy to use and sufficiently accurate, is reasonably priced and, if used regularly and intelligently, could help indicate when a GP or hospital visit may be warranted. It may even help save a life.

If, like me you are heading well into middle age then keeping an eye on your blood pressure is a seriously good idea. I tend towards the upper end of the 'normal' scale and the jump to high isn't a big one. On top of that I need regular medical tests due to my work and inevitably I suffer from 'white coat syndrome' which tends to elevate my blood pressure onto the wrong side of acceptable.A blood pressure monitor therefore is a good thing for me and probably you too if you are 40 and over. It helps me keep an eye on things and just as importantly reduces the white coat syndrome as I already have a long history so less on the day stress. There are a number of these machines around with Omron being the one you see in most doctors.I have one of these as well so I can compare. This one I got on the Vine program which I'll pass on to another family member. It's neat, and won't take up much space. I tend to leave it by my desk at home and use it at the same time of day, morning and evening. I've read that it's a good idea to have a spread of tests over each day but at roughly the same time and after various similar activities. It uses 4 x AA batteries and so far I have not had to change them over a two week period of using this.It will hold 30 records in it's memory (4 x areas) which is okay but not a huge amount. I transfer these to a spreadsheet. My Omron unit has a USB port and I use it to download to the computer direct.Accuracy seems to be good with test results pretty close to my Omron one. There's always going to be slight differences but they are small and of course you are looking for a trend over time.It also looks for arrhythmia which is jolly useful as well. You might have great blood pressure but if the old blood pump is wobbling a bit that's worthwhile finding out.So, overall, this machine is a good unit especially considering the price. In reality we should check our blood pressure regularly and this tool is fine for doing it. The only reason that I reduce the star rating is that my unit, an Omron one has more bells and whistles and it's the same as the one used in all the surgeries I've been too, thus making it more cross comparable.

As a doctor I have used a lot of blood pressure monitors over the years, both manual and automated. This is an excellent basic blood pressure monitor that would work fine for most people. It seems well made and does everything you would need. The cuff is comfortable and easy to fit. The machine comes with 4 x AA batteries and as soon as you switch it on it starts inflating. It has a nice added feature of alerting you to possible arrhythmias - probably atrial fibrillation as this is the easiest to spot in a very quick measurement. Some of the other ones would take a longer period of monitoring to discover. So this is just to alert you to a possible problem that you would need to see your doctor about. It has memory settings so can retain the last 30 readings for up to 4 people and can also give you the average of the last 3 readings. It has a 2 year guarantee. The only thing to be aware of is the cuff size - fits arm circumference of 22-36 cm which is fine for most people. Children or very skinny people and very large people will need a different cuff or a different machine. All in all a pretty good little unit that does the job well.

This is a really nifty item.Inside the box you get a bagged (pull ties each side, black, well made with plenty - but not too much - space). Within this is the main unit and then the cuff. Wrapped inside the cuff are the batteries (please note I have tried pound shop batteries and they are not strong enough for this). There is also a user guide. Well I coulndn't do the stuff in the book for setting date and time. The buttons don't seem to do what the book suggests. Basically this is remembering the last reading for four people but not keeping a history per user. As such you would have to take a note of the results to keep a chart. Also the WHO bar does not light up so again that is not cool. However despite these it is really handy to have these if you are keeping an eye on blood pressure,it is simple to use, just put it on and press the power button then wait a while.

We already have a Sanitas blood pressure monitor that measures blood pressure from the wrist. This is probably easier to use than that one, as it uses the familiar upper arm cuff that we are all used to at the doctors. You just have to make sure you have the cuff in the right place and its a doddle to use, just press the on button.A point to note, this cuff wont do large upper arms, its not big enough. but its accurate, fast and easy to use plus it comes with a handy carry pouch that everything fits in easily. You can set the time and date and it has a memory so you can track how your blood pressure is doing but you dont need to set this, the blood pressure measuring function will work without it.The unit uses 4 aa batteries, which are provided

Blood pressure is a good indicator of your health. High blood pressure is bad....very very bad. There was a time when the only place you could get your BP checked was at the docs, not so now. This handy little bp monitor takes seconds to assemble, and a few more seconds to test. It is very simple, plug in the cuff, press the button, the cuff inflated and seconds later the reading is done.I was glad to see that the makers have included batteries (a bugbear of mine), its easy to use, easy to store and the reading screen is large and readily understood. If you are concerned about keeping track of your bp then this monitor may be the right choice.

As a family of people with high blood pressure I thought this would be very handy to keep a track in between doctors visits. It is really simple to set and use.Put the batteries in connect the tube and press a couple of buttons. It not only takes blood pressure reading but pulse and Arrhythmia detection warning. It can be set for four different users averaging out last three readings and date/time.It is comfortable when the armband expands doesn't go that tight that it hurts like some.Comes in a pouch with full instructions.I am really pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone.

I have a Omron blood pressure monitor and must admit, I hadn't heard of Sanitas before. It appears to be a German company and this small little monitor does everything and more that the Omron does. It's two big pluses are its Arrhythmia detection element and its low cost. After calibrating it with the more expensive and larger Omron, there appears to be no noticeable difference in readings. Like most blood pressure monitors,it can store readings to produce an average.Everything household should have one and use it regularly.Comes with batteries and pouch.

I've never owned anything like this before, so can't compare it to other models, but as far as I can tell this is a good value set - the measurements seem to be consistent and reliable, the display is easy to read and the cuff fits well.If you're looking to regularly monitor blood pressure this is a fairly intuitive way to do so, at a good price. When the cuff inflates it's not what I'd call comfortable, but this is no different than any time that I've had the same tests done in hospital, so this seems pretty standard.

This is an easy to use blood pressure monitor that gives clear easy to read values. It stores separate readings for up to 4 different people and gives colour coded severities of readings. It showed my blood pressure as being a little high, and my pulse rate as consistently high. This is to be expected with some medication that I am on for another condition. The instruction manual is unusually clearly written and even a bag and the 4 AA batteries are included. There is an indication of unusual heart rythmn.

seems to be good. A useful thing to have. Good size and easy to operate. I also used it standing up, and found I have orthostatic hypotension to go with my hypertension. I haven't checked it against other machines (calibrated) as yet but I think it is about right. Arm band big enough for me and would do someone bigger too. I have large female arms, forget the size atm.

7.2.2016

Easy to read and easy to use. Blood-pressure of course varies over the course of the day, but this device conforms closely with that of my G.P.. If you feel the need to monitor your B.P., buy it - it might save your life.

12.4.2016

very good, quite accurate and consistent for repeated readings when compared with machines which are used on the wrist and the instruction manual is unusually clearly written.

I have tried several different BP monitors. Forget the wrist ones they seem to produce some random readings. I have an excellent Withings one that connects to my iPhone

So easy to use.Reliable.I check my blood pressure once a day ;keep a record of the readings on graph paper and each visit I make to my GP the readings are checked.
