I bought this to replace a 5 year old SanDisk Extreme 480GB SSD which was the main system drive on my desktop tower PC. The previous drive had served me brilliantly during those years and was still going strong but I was tiring of having to remove some applications in order to make space for new ones. A formatted 480GB drive can fill up surprisingly quickly especially as some graphically intensive games can occupy as much as 70-80GB. In the old days I had a Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB drive as my system drive so I thought why not return to the capacity I used to have? In recent years SSD drives have certainly jumped in capacity and lowered (slightly)in price.I decided in advance that I was simply going to clone my existing SSD using Acronis True Image 2018 (not included) because my Windows 10 installation was not that old, working well and had many applications already set up. I figured why start from scratch unless you absolutely have to? Cloning the 480GB drive over to this new 1TB model in Automatic mode took approximately 26 minutes which was fantastic to witness. I made sure both drives were operating on SATA III connectors for the transfer. Once the clone was complete I simply removed the old drive and then booted back into my identical Windows 10 profile. It couldn't have been easier. That's it really. The entire process of picking up the Amazon package to starting to use the drive took no more than an hour. Startling really but solid state technology just seems to keep going from strength to strength. Worst case scenario I was expecting a minor drop in performance as it is clearly twice the size of my old drive but I didn't really notice anything at all. Responsiveness and load times seem as good as they ever were but then again I don't use benchmarking software. It is definitely a little costly but well worth it if you can spare the funds. From a practical point of view as per usual there is nothing in the box but the drive itself so I would recommend ordering any cables or a caddy with it if you need those. The only downside for me now is figuring out what to do with my old 480GB SSD as it still has a lot of life left in it! This is my second SanDisk SSD and my experience has been nothing but flawless so far... I can see myself repeating this process with another SanDisk model in the early 2020s.

I can see why this is earning so many 5-star reviews. My computer isn't the most up-to-date, in fact it's running a 4-core AMD FX4100, which I bought 2nd hand to replace a Sempron which was dead slow. It's got 8Gb RAM. I am running PCLinuxOS on the computer, and, on putting in the FX4100, it sped up a lot. I bought a Sandisk 120Gb SSD and a Seagate Hybrid 1TB drive, and that gave me a further speed boost. So what I did here was to install Windows 7 and re-install PCLinuxOS on the 2TB drive, then once I had got all my data off the older drives, I removed them. Now Linux is so fast. The only holdup when starting the computer, is the old BIOS checks, once they are done, the thing boots up in no time.Win7 ain't bad either, when it's not doing 2 million updates when logging in and out, but Linux is king on this machine now.So far, the computer is amazingly fast, I've opened up the last bottleneck! Apart from Western Digital, Sandisk SSDs are a fair few quid cheaper than most other brands at the 2TB size, and they seem to be reliable. Just going to add USB3 to the old computer, and I think I'll have something which will continue for years. These extra large SSD hard drives might cost a few hundred quid, but they will give you a speed boost that feels like a new computer, without the full cost, and can be carried over into a new rig when the old one gives up the ghost. Unless you have an SSD already, and provided you have SATA connectors, this is the best upgrade bar none.

I have 30+ powerful CAD workstations in my office and they've all got XEON or dual XEON processors, high end CAD specific GPU and 16GG or 32Gb or RAM. However, some of the older machines are starting to slow down a little, or at least app launches seem slow and sluggish. Sometimes this is just becuase the machines are being pushed to their multitasking limits but quite often it's just because they don't have an SSD and were spec'd with a normal hard drive years ago when they were bought.I've not started a roll-out program and have been updgrading all workstations to SSD. This is a really easy process with 3rd party software (I use Acronis True Image on a bootable USB drive), you simply shut down, add the new SSD, boot off a USB drive and click the source (original) drive and the target (SSD) and let it do it's thing. When it's done you simply power down, remove the USB drive, remove the old drive and reboot. Done. Super fast boot times, everything exactly as you left it, no need to reinstall windows or apps, etc. Once you're confident you're clone to SSD has been successful you can either keep the old drive as an snapshot bootable backup or in my case I leave them in, format them and set them as a backup destination for daily windows backups.SSD's are by far the "best bang for your buck" to rejuvenate a tired or older computer.

This SSD offers a great price without compromising capacity. The low power demand is of particular relevance in Notebooks helping stretch out battery life. Maximum power consumption of 3.3w and weighing 27g certainly makes a difference as a replacement in a laptop.SSD drives is definitely the way forward over mechanical drives offering:+ Superior performance+ Lower power usage+ Enhanced ReliabilityTheoretical estimates of performance are fine, however its the real world performance that matters. The same machine with the same operating system start up time was around 10 seconds compared to around 90-120 seconds for a mechanical drive. The performance advantage is so great I feel I have a completely different machine.Performance and application response especially on older systems will be much better.Performance wise it managed 502Mb/s and 461Mb/s (sequential Read / Write) and 499Mb/s and 454Mb/s (Random Read / Write) using benchmarking tests. I did a real world task of copying a 3GB file which took around 6.9s to fully copy.Comes complete with useful software to allow checking and diagnosis as well as cloning of any existing setup for ease of migration.A standard 3 year warranty is offered across the Sandisk range, not as long as some manufacturers offer so if this is a concern you may want to look elsewhere.

This has definitely dramatically improved the speed of my old laptop -I was considering upgrading to a newer model but don't feel the need to do this now I've installed this. Initial load up when I turn on my PC is around 1 minute rather than nearly 5 minutes and everything is just running much more smoothly and without too many frustrating pauses while loading.I'm no tech-head so as this didn't come with any software or vast instructions I got a computer-expert friend to help me transfer over my old drive to this one which is apparently called 'cloning' and this took around 40 minutes to wait while everything loaded and then we were more or less ready to go.Everything you need to know you'll find via a website supplied with this. The whole process took around an hour before I was ready to use my new updated laptop. It was actually fairly simple (I know I had help but I was worried about accidentally wiping my computer but once I was talked through the process it was more or less straightforward!!)Recommended, I think this is actually a pretty decent price for how effective it has been to my system.

The new SSD works fine so far in an old Asus Bamboo laptop that took 25 minutes to fully start up. It now takes less than a minute and everything is super responsive.I used Acronis disk image to clone the old drive onto a 500gb USB drive which worked without a hicup. The laptop could only boot from a CD drive as an alternative to the hard disk and not a USB drive as its so old but Acronis then created a boot CD for me. The boot from the CD started a small version of Acronis 'clone disk' which then copied the previously cloned USB copy of the old HD to the new disk. This took 2.5 hours. Clone disk initially failed with an error saying it required a linux boot disk to continue, which was what the CD boot was !?But without changing anything I pushed 'OK' and the process completed. It took a long time but was otherwise painless.I hope the disk lasts OK but I'll take Acronis disk images of the new disk in case it doesn't.The laptop is now more responsive to use than some new ones I've used. £125 well spent!

I bought the 2TB version of this SSD. I bought it to replace my PS4 1TB HDD and because it was on a special price. I have previously bought a 1TB SSD from Sandisk for my laptop, had it for over a year so knew it was reliable and extremely quick. I have so far found the 2TB drive excellent, it is so much quicker before, even if PS4 is not SATA III (no idea why they didn't do that) it still runs much quicker than the last HDD and now have twice capacity. Fitting the drive to PS4 was easy and doing the installation was a little bit more awkward but this was Sony's fault not Sandisk. Now I have a spare 1TB HDD so I bought an external drive enclosure and put it in there. So don't throw away the old one!Formatting the old HDD was a bit of a pain but got there in the end with the help of freeware as W10 is of no help.

I bought this because my existing SSD was failing and I also bought the installation kit with cloning software. Cloning failed - the kit was useless and two other tools that I tried didn't do the job properly. Physically installing the drive was very simple but I still ended up having to a full install of Windows and all my software (with the exception of iTunes which will just no longer work). My experience is that SSDs are much less reliable than spun HDDs. The SSD is faster in use but it will take a long time to be worth the 35+ hours it tool to get it up and running. I had no choice but to get a new drive and the product does work. However, unless you have a real need I would say it isn't worth the hassle of an upgrade.

This was billed as a second hand item with some package and small superficial damage. There was roughly a 10% discount applied to the going rate. Physical condition of packaging and item was better than expected and it had been treated with care by previous owner. SMART tests showed it had 13 hours of prior use and there were some errors in data transfers between the ssd and previous user' computer. This is what probably led to its return. The drive has behaved impeccably in the machine it was bought for and during cloning from the older and smaller SSD drive it replaced sustained constant write speeds of over. 30 Gigabytes per minute. It is subjectively marginally faster than the smaller Sandisk Ultra II drive it replaced.

I bought this a week or so ago from Amazon Germany. So far, it's been performing well. I've downloaded a few hundred GB worth of games so far. I'll be using it to store games and edited videos I have published. The 4TB drive I have is costly, but every 4TB drive is, so that is not a criticism.I'm getting transfer rates consistently over 550MB/s and all the games I've installed on it seem snappy. The SanDisk SSD software seems good too. It's worth installing in order to monitor the health of the drive. With every hard drive, you're always concerned about failure. This is not something I'm really stressing about because of the 5 year warranty, but it's always worth backing up important files elsewhere too.

I fitted this to my Jurassic PC to help a wheezing Windows 10.I used the Inateck SSD Mounting Bracket to mount it in a HDD bay rather than the recommended floppy disk bay as they're both obscured by cabling.I then used EaseUS Todo Backup Free 9.2 to clone my existing C: drive, a 320GB Seagate, I swapped the SATA cables over then restarted with my new C: drive, a quick trip in the BIOS to set the new boot priority and W10 "fixed" the master boot record.I'm no a beginner but I'm no expert either, so the total time taken was a little under an hour.Didi it make a difference? Oh yes, my boot time has halved.

Replaced the 1TB hybrid drive in the wife's 18month old Lenovo and the performance difference was amazing. It was as simple as cloning the drive (unfortunately you don't get any software with this drive) and swapping them over.It used to take 5 minutes to boot up and have the laptop in a useable state, now it takes a few seconds plus everything opens up a hell of a lot quicker (office apps, games etc).I've got a slightly older 480GB SanDisk Ultra II drive in my desktop which is good, but this little baby seems faster than that.I highly recommend this drive.

if you are putting this into a desktop make sure to set the BIOS so that it starts your operating system first, I didn't realise I'd have to do this so I spent about an hour downloading windows onto a USB to find that it wouldn't allow me to put windows on, then I figured out I should probably check the BIOS to make sure that the PC could detect both hard drives (I plugged the Sandisk in as my primary and wired up my other for extra storage) and thats when I realised that the operating system needed to be set to the first boot option

Purchased to replace a failing hard drive in my Samsung All In One computer. I also bought the cloning cable and software (turned out to be just a download) which was not as easy as it said on the instructions (the computer wouldn't recognise it), and I finished up cloning it using AOMEI backup which was slow but worked! The new drive performs great and has considerably speeded up my machine, and has given it a new lease of life as it is now 6 years old (but was ahead of it's time when purchased).

my hard drive failed and initially i bought a replacement HDD, but it failed a week after installing and i was scepticall to buy another one. so i looked at SSD and they are much easier and safer to install. Sandisk is a reliable make so i opted for this one, and its working fine, you can download a free diagnostic software from sandisk, and it has a 5yr warranty. i would say if you are looking for standard usage, this one is ideal and is competitively priced, you cant go wrong.
