After looking for a good SSD drive I settled on this one. Especially after reading other people had used them with Macs to install the OS on.For me since the Feb 2016 issue of Mac Format I had it in my mind to buy an SSD and follow their instructions to create my own Fusion drive. With this SSD this is exactly what I have done. Connected through a USB3 port on my 2012 Mac Mini. As it is a desktop mac I can use this kind of setup, without the need to try and crack open my Mac Mini. Compared to the OS when installed only on the built in HD it is so fast. Boot times have dropped from a few minutes to 30 seconds. I mainly use this mac for storing media such as my iTunes library installed from CD in Apple Lossless,

I'm about to go travelling for 3 months, I am a professional photographer and in need of something small for storing my photos & video. (With a secondary cloud solution for backup)It's the perfect size, smaller than the palm of your hand and very light weight.The reason for 4 stars - Although explained on the back of the box, to me I feel it's been incorrectly advertised.Windows operates in binary - so 1 actual gigabyte is 1024 megabytes. Sandisk say it's 250GB (as a decimal value) but it only totals 238GB in size.12GB isn't much these days, but that could still hold about 600 RAW photos.All in all, still a good product :)

Great little disk, installed El Capitan onto it and use it to test boot. I also have 120gb versions, these are great as scratch disks and read / write at 400meg. I'm using these on USB3 ports. SanDisk have faster disks that use USB C 3.1, but will not you see that performance unless you have exactly that port spec.The only word of warning I would give is to tape the supplied USB cable securely to the disk as the socket feels weak.

Much faster than portable HDDs, and no sweat about accidentally dropping the thing. Bit of a puzzle at first, but the port is covered by a bung, and then it's self-explanatory. The lead is a bit shorter than ideal, but this is a limitation of the USB3 standard: You can extend the lead, but performance will drop to USB2 speeds. Most interfaces can't yet utilise the full speed of USB3 anyway, so feel free to experiment.

Great product, arrived quickly. I am very happy with this SSD. I was concerned by some of the negative comments about the usb breaking free or the SSD failing. So I have taken out the 3 year warranty for peace of mind. I don’t plan on moving the SSD around, so it stays connected. It’s not my safe backup drive. Just extra space on my laptop. So far it’s playing it’s part in my system well.

Incredibly small and light so very portable. I use these with a Mac book pro and it wasn't necessary to format them, just plug and go. They respond nearly as quickly as if files are on the hard drive, all in all very pleased. They were delivered earlier than the estimated date too. The only reason I've held back a star is to wait and see about reliability.

Wow, I love it, it's fast! Via USB 3 it copied a 45GB folder from hard drive to the external SSD in 2 mins!Slower, but still fast via USB 2 on my old laptop.Easy to use, just plugged it in and used it, no problems!Just wish I had got the 480GB one, I can already see I'm going to fill this up to quickly ;)

This is a big step up from the USB flash drives I have been using. Great to have the fast read and write speeds. Small and light, but of course you need to carry the connection cable around as well as the unit.

Very happy with this item, very good price nice and quick transfer of files, using mainly for photos and much faster than traditional HD am well happy with this transfer and would recommen this item

Really cheap for a 480GB portable SSD when i bought it. Great performance.You can probably get similar priced items now. But i like this one.
