Tried by my daughter, who was reasonably impressed:“I use a lot of mascara, so I can claim to be somewhat of an authority. My first impression of this mascara was that it was an odd shape, in that it isn't round or the same shape all around - it is a tube with flattened out edges. This actually made it a bit easier to hold, surprisingly, and adds a little something extra to it. Upon opening, it feels like there's more of a series of de-clumping bands inside, which means that you get clear product out, which is always a plus. There is a slight scent to the product itself, but it isn't unpleasant. I have recently tried several mascaras that had quite a nasty smell to them, which ruined them for me,as you are holding the product so close to your face and your nose. The handle of the wand is the same shape as the tube, which means it is slightly easier to apply the mascara, although I get the feeling you would tend to use the same bristles again and again, as it would be difficult to use the entire roundness of the brush. The brush has many plastic bristles which are good for coverage, however I did not find the brush useful for anything other than defining the lashes. I did not get much additional length or volume out of the brush, so if you are simply looking for adding some extra colour and definition to your existing lashes, then this would work for you; however, if you want a bigger bolder look like I normally go for, then I would recommend another mascara. However I did quite like it as a quick way of achieving a good daytime look. The mascara stayed on for the day without any issues, and when I removed it with a make-up wipe at the end of the day, it came off easily. It runs a bit with damp eyes, as one would expect - I went out when it was very windy, and the mascara run a little even behind sunglasses.

Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara, Blackest Black - RRP £9.99I've tried lots of different mascaras and this new Revlon one is fab. It reminds me of MAC's False Lashes mascara (which is twice the price). It's a rich black mascara with a brush that adds colour without bulk, which is perfect if you already have fairly long lashes and want to add a bit more drama. My only niggle is that it's not waterproof (which is preferable if you're going to be doing anything particularly active). The mascara comes in a distinctive tube - a sort of almond shape, fat in the middle and squished at the edges - in a striking black and purple colourway. The brush for the mascara has plenty of defined bristles that are of equal length all the way down the brush head. The colour coats the lashes well and stays on well without flaking, smudging or falling onto my cheeks as the day/night wears on. It really is a very good mascara.Mascara tips - To avoid too much product going on the eyelashes and causing clumping, I wipe off as much as I can on the inside lip of the dispensing tube then, if needed, lightly press a tissue round the wand briefly to blot some more mascara off. That way, I can build up the layers gradually and avoid clumping. I also have an eyelash comb I run through my lashes when the mascara has dried to give extra separation and definition to my lashes.

The mascara is a rich, thick black, but I am not sure what defines it to stand alone as the 'blackest black', though. It is a nice black, with a good richness and doesn't create blobs or clump, so far.I like how it covers my lashes and the brush has good quality bristles that lift, separate and shape them nicely. It covers all of the lash and has enough volume. I was disappointed to see some small flaking after a couple of hours, though. I was hoping it wouldn't do this.As it's not waterproof, washing off with wipes, face-wash and makeup remover is easy and it cleans away fully with little effort. The bottle is a pleasant shade of purple with an interesting shape that could almost be described as ergonomic as it feels comfortable in my hand. The purple top unscrews to become the handle of the wand, which is light and easy to use. The bottle secures tightly with no leaks and with its interesting shape, it is not going to roll off the table and disappear from sight!

I like the shape of the barrel, it is easy to set down on it`s side and cannot roll off the dressing table. There is a good chunky handle on the brush making it easy to hold without any fiddliness. The applicator brush comes out loaded with the perfect amount of mascara to give a full coat and there is no messy blob at the end. With it`s short, well spaced bristles this brush is able to pick up even the smallest of lashes and gives very good definition. In my experience one coat gave me longer lashes that were lifted and seperated. The colour is no darker than other black mascaras I have used, I`m not quite sure what Blackest Black is supposed to be!After a few hours I had some smudges on both top and bottom lashlines which is why I have taken one star off.Removal is not difficult, I used a water based eye make up remover on one eye and a wipe on the other with equally good results.

This is not the first brush that my household has had with the Revlon mascara, but whilst others suffered from having an ill designed brush the problem is somewhat rectified with ‘Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara, Blackest Black’. The good thing about Revlon’s blackest black make up is that it is truly dark – no bleeding browns or blues creep in. If you apply the ‘Dramatic Definition’ you get just that, an impressive dark line. The brush this time is also a lot better as it is slightly longer than others in the range so that you don’t have to keep dipping and reapplying. There is a little clumping if you are not careful with longer eyelashes, but this is as much a problem with technique as the mascara itself.Out of all the Revlon blackest blacks you can get, this is certainly one of the better ones as it is designed for you to apply far easier.

This is a great daytime mascara with a natural look for people with naturally dark lashes like mine. This mascara doesn't really thicken or lengthen discernibly, but what it does do is give definition and give a crisp, bold look to each lash - like it has been brought into focus. The mascara doesn't clump on my lashes as it is applied (but not does it build up easily) I don't find that it flakes particularly and it is easy to remove with my normal eye make-up remover without leaving residue on my lashes. The container itself is a slightly odd, squashed tube, but this doesn't seem to have any adverse effect (although apart from looking distinctive,I'm not sure of the point!)This is now my go-to daytime mascara - it makes my lashes look great, but not made-up! Perfect!

This is a nice mascara. Comes in a nice chunky tube. The purple part screws off and becomes the handle for the short haired wand. You can get a good grip on the handle. In spite of many years practising I am not great at putting on mascara and for years did not use it. However my lashes are sparse fair and short now so find I need it. I found this to be one of the easiest to apply. I did not find it any backer or more dramatic than any other mascara but I did like the results. The lashes were well separated and did highlight my eyes. It stayed on all day even through a strenuous workout with no problems. I have just removed it and found it removed easily with a make up tissue.I must admit I like it

This is a good mascara - as other reviews note, it's not the usual lipstick-barrel shape, it's a flat ovoid, which makes it easier to hold and doesn't roll away if you knock it over. The bristles on the brush are widely set apart, and the brush is quite short, which is good - I also liked that it doesn't clump into a lump on the brush. It does coat evenly which is also a plus - although it doesn't really give any more length - it's not a 'definition' mascara. It doesn't need anything particularly aggressive to get it off, but it does flake off a bit - not as much as some, but there are still a few spots here and there.Overall pretty good and not too expensive.

This Revlon mascara has a number of plus points and one or two downsides. On the positive side, it has a really intense colour, is easy to apply , lasts for several hours with minimal flaking and with the pointed brush offers coverage right to the corners. the brush is also flexible which adds shape as well as simplicity of use. Removal of the mascara is also quick and simple using any good cleansing product. On the negative side the brush is on the thin side (compared to Maybelline for instance) and it does take longer to make up the lashes than with some other brands. On the whole a good product if the price is right.

Tried out by my daughter (18). First impressions were good in terms of packaging, she liked how it looked. The feel was a bit odd as it is quite fat but she got used to it.She thought the mascara went on well and stayed on, no issues at all and it got top marks for application. She did give a cynical grunt about the "blackest" claim but in terms of the mascara itself she was impressed. For her the price was perhaps high but that is a personal choice.Recommended.

I don't know about dramatic definition but this is a decent, good quality mascara. The packaging is especially good - the flat oval shape makes the wand easier to hold and the brush is very fine and spikey which avoids any clumping. I have sensitive skin, especially on my face, but was not bothered at all by this. It stayed put and did not smudge at all, and was easy to remove with my usual cream cleanser not leaving any trace on my bedding. Will purchase again.

This is a black mascara - the comb has short fronds, which means far less clumping, but you can build up in layers to get a thicker look when desired. The container is also good - rather than a cylinder, it has a flatter shape, meaning its easier to hold and manipulate.I do like this, its a good strong mascara, and the fact that it doesn't clump is a real boon - you can get the strength of colour without looking wrong.

12.2.2016

If you want a really black black mascara then this is for you. The container is quite chunky to hold but I soon got used to it. The brush is narrower than many others but the mascara goes onto the lashes easily. This mascara goes on smoothly without lumps and is easily removed with a suitable cleanser.A very nice product.

30.1.2016

I usually get Mascaras with big and bushy brushes so this one is new to me. The brush bristles are short.I needn't have worried. Application was easy. The mascara coated all the lashes evenly and the short bristles seemed to separate the lashes very well.It didn't clog up when I applied another coat.So overall I like it.

This is a good everyday mascara and the perfect antidote to all the 'mega-super-millionising-false-lash-effect' mascaras thare current;y on the market. If all you need from your day to day mascara is even lash coverage, slight curl and a little thickening this is for you. Ideal for the 'no make-up make-up' look.
