As a previous reviewer has mentioned, the reviews online bashing this game simply because it's not its predecessor, is asinine - move on, people! :PThis game, IMHO, rawks like Gary Moore was the King of the blues. (just felt like a mini tribute, there.. Rühe in Frieden, Gary!)Firstly, lets get down to the muck, shall we?Did I have problems installing the game? No.Did I have problems running GfWL? No.Did I see any game-breaking bugs through my almost 47 hours of gameplay? No.Did I find the game to be addictive, fun, enthralling, jump-worthy, and get some good ol' zombie-kicks? Hellz yeah!I believe it's not just my computer that allows this game to effortlessly run at a superb C16XQ AA,with all other settings maxed, on a 900p resolution - even my brother with (fair dos, his computer is kick-ass and similar to mine) can max it (8x AA, I believe) and achieve the same lovely consistent 60FPS. This game's performance reminds me of Devil May Cry 4, for the PC, which I also possess and enjoy at max with 16x AA and a consistent 60FPS. I'm not merely bragging, I'm simply telling you lovely people (and those not-so-lovely people :P) that this game will very likely be a "beast" on your rig, so fear not! As long your machine wasn't bought in the dark ages, then you should be just fine! The sound quality and graphical quality of the game is pretty awesome, even to this day with the likes of Metro 2033, Battlefield 3, and Skyrim, although, to be honest with you, Skyrim nor B3 seem like fair examples, since they both possess... variables, shall we say. There may be some of you reading this and thinking "He's the one living in the dark ages! Get with the program - these graphics suck!" Well, to this I urge you to appreciate graphics that aim to please, not just aim to line the pockets of the developers. There are more important things than graphics alone, such as gameplay, longevity, story, depth, sound, etc.I mentioned longevity, so I might as well share my experience a little - no spoilers, don't worry.I started playing the game on Normal mode, and loved it, naturally. I started playing the game online after 3 or 4 'levels' (don't worry, its apparent linearity isn't so significant as it sounds) and found plenty of enjoyment playing some levels over and over in order to collect money that can be used to purchase or upgrade weapons and equipment. As I progressed further into the game, I was faced with a reminiscent challenge (think RE4) of shooting special targets laid throughout certain levels, thus working towards a set of rewards. Speaking of rewards: I can comfortably tell you that I found this game rewarding; everything I seemed to do, ended within a reward, which was.. well.. rewarding! Once I had finally upgraded plenty of things, purchased plenty of things, completed normal mode, shot some targets, etc, I then decided to try the next mode up. It pretty much ends up that I had fun collecting the targets, unlocking as much as possible, earning Gs (via GfWL) and working towards completing the game in all ways I could, including beating the game within a set time. ;) Hint hint.I now have 900/1000 Gs on this game, and am very close to maxing it; it.. has.. been an amazing ride, and one I would happily participate in again sometime in the future. It would be remiss of me not to mention something very important for those that insist on trouble-free online play (possibly also via LAN) and this is the following:Your game can at anytime disconnect; I know this sounds like a deal breaker, but bare with me! What this means is that if, say, you're hosting a co-op game over the Internet, you might be in the middle of a level, and [POOF!] your friend/stranger gets disconnected, thus leaving you with the AI instead, NOT cancelling your progress, earnings, or so much as interrupting your game. However, if you are the unlucky person who gets disconnected from a Host's game, then you do unfortunately get kicked from the level progress, HOWEVER, you do get to keep all (this may not be 100% exact) other things, such as items, cash, etc, as long as you choose to do so after the disconnect. Yet again, there is a way out of this, as you can simply join back into the game, either once the other person has restarted to the previous checkpoint (this method can be arduous, especially on the harder levels) OR when the Host hits a new checkpoint. The only thing you DO definitely lose out on, is the right to say you completed that level, within the game's eyes, as you do not receive "Points" upon level completion. As long as you're in "Single Player" then you have nowt to worry about, although, this all said, I was perfectly capable of going through levels with help from someone online, and did so plenty of times. Some techie info:This game requires at least DirectX 9, but DirectX 10 I recommend to get the most out of it - the game can either be run in DirectX 9 or DirectX 10 mode, which can be useful. This game, like most (if not all) GfWL games, supports an XBOX 360 wired USB controller (I use one for most games I play on the PC... force of habit) and works without a problem, infact, I strongly recommend the controller, as the K&M option is a bit naff, IMO. You do get plenty of graphic options to adjust, should your computer not come from outta space. This game supports the "Benchmark" feature of some of the modern games, which allows you to benchmark the game, properly. I can confirm that the widescreen resolution up to 1600x900 works without a problem, however, I have not seen anything higher with this game. This game can be run in Windowed mode or Full Screen, on the fly. I can confirm that this game works within Windows 7 64-bit.

The basic game.First of all the basic game is the same as the original version. This is the best Resident Evil 5 game ever in my opinion. It looks good especially in HD. It plays smoothly and is quite lengthy. There is a nice variety enemies and five or six bosses to defeat at various stages, including 3 confrontations with Albert Wesker, the 2nd of which I found hardest to beat. The final confrontation with him is actually quite easy when you understand how to beat him.The game is given extra longevity by the various extras that you can collect along the way. There are 50 treasures, shields to shoot, a multitude of guns, which can nearly all be upgraded, and coins and ammo to collect. You also have a partner throughout the game, called Sheva. She is a great character who really adds an extra dimension. She helps dealing death to the bad guys and getting to out of reach places etc... Also once you have completed the game for the first time you can select her as a playable character and play through the game again. If you are playing with someone else they can control Sheva in co-op mode. Each level can be played on 3 difficulties and there is a completion rating at the end each. Depending on how well you do you get coins to open up extra costumes, figurines etc... Once you have completed it on the 3 difficulty levels I think a forth one is opened up, but I haven't got that far yet.Threre in also another game called 'The Mercenaries'. Basically you have to survive for as long as possible and kill as many bad guys as you can. You initially have 2 mins but you can earn extra time by finding the time extension statues. The better you do in the mercenaries gives you extra coins to buy more extras. So if you take into account all the collectibles and the extra games etc.. this game will take along time time to completely finish. The new features. This gold edition contains some nice extras. The first thing i would say though is that you need to have an XBOX live connection to access them. They are not actually on the disc. You are given a code which you can use to download them from XBOX Live. This is fine except that it means you can't get them without the internet connection. I think it might have been better to actually include them on the disc or give us an extra disc, as in Forza Motorsport 3.As the new features are available on XBOX live then you can download them, if you have the original game, using Microsoft Points. I'm not sure how many points you need, (check on XBOX live), but I don't think it comes to 2100, which is the smallest you number of points you can buy in the shops. This way you can get the new features and have points left over for anything else you may want to download. I made the mistake of trading my orignal version in for £10 and buying the new game for £30. I should have kept it and just bought the MIcrosoft Points instead. Never ming eh!!! We all learn by our mistakes. The new extras are pretty good but they don't add a great deal to the game. They include extra costumes, some more figurines, extra charaxters to play in 'The Mercenaries' game. The main additions though are 2 new short levels. 'Lost in Nightmares' is set in a mansion very similar to the one in Resident Evil 1. It does not take long to complete. I did it 50 mins on easy difficulty. Other difficulty levels do extend it slightly as you have to do more to complete it, but it is still relatively short. The other game is called 'Desperate Escape' involving two of the secondary !!! characters in the game escaping from the Uroboros Facility. Again it is quite short, but I liked it more then 'Lost In Nightmares'So there it is. The original game is fantastic and the new features definitely add to it and extend the life of the game. An essential purchase if you don't already have the original game. If you do already own it then just make sure you choose the best way of buying the new stuff.

Hello,I normally enjoy shooter games where you have to kill zombies (or something similar), and this game was no exception. The story is something like there is an infection and you are after someone who is responsible for that in some way and the guy also killed your partner (or mutated her or something, not sure yet :p) and that makes it personal for your character, Chris Redfield member of Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA). You are constantly accompanied by a woman, Sheva Alomar (which can also be played by a friend on co-op offline or online). I have to say, the AI is not that bad compared to the L4D teammates (man they suck). Basically your are always with two, there was reinforcements, but they were killed. Although the gameplay in my opinion was sort of slow if you compare it to L4D (you cannot run in the game, so far I know) and the button layout is quite different compared to what I am used to. However, the game's graphics and the monsters you encounter make well up for this and besides this, Resident Evil uses a totally different approach than L4D: first of all you have an inventory instead of a fixed place for say 2 weapons, a heal and a grenade. So it is up to you whether to carry all kinds of weapons or few weapons and more heals or something else. Thereby it is more RPG wise, you can upgrade your weapons with the money you find/earn in the levels, be carefull to spend this wisely, and also if you upgrade lets say your gun, you have only upgraded that gun, so your partner has to buy a seperate upgrade. Another thing to note: sometimes you encounter boss lvl's and you should be carefull about not wasting your ammo so you can keep your distance (if you run out of ammo, you have to melee), you don't have unlimited ammo for a pistol. Another important thing is: using your environment. In what sense is it the "same" as L4D: you have monsters/zombies/infected, you have to keep moving, your teammates are very important, you can be grabbed by infected, the health system is in life bars (and not regeneration CoD-style).I do have to say I never played a resident evil game before, but I have seen all the Resident Evil movies which I liked very much. I was missing the Umbrella Corporation too bad :(. Very important for these kind of games are more the story and graphics in my opinion, you have quite some bosses or challenges in the game and the enemies are not repetitive like in L4D. The environment is also always different with different objects laying around or new dead bodies as decoration when you progress, don't we just love dead allies who cannot stand in your line of fire :DIf you like infection slayer games this is probably something for you. It can be hard from time to time (I died 2 times in lvl 1 on normal :') ). Graphic wise I think you can compare it to the Darkness, a little bit dark style best played in a room with just the light from your screen. I have not played it co-op yet unfortunately and I haven't finished the story mode either. Furthermore I have not taken a look in its other (online) options so I can't tell you anything about that.Pro's- The style- Offline co-op function (always nice) and the co-op style, you really need each other.- Shooting infected, guys with a chainsaws running after you, what more do you want? :)- Not repetitive gameplay, you don't only have the shooter, but also moments where you have to hit the right buttons.- Inventory and RPG style.Con's- No running and jumping (except for the jumping as action, so when near a roof edge)- Infected have no health indication mostly, for one boss I couldn't judge how many health he had left and when I fired 1 pistol bullet it was apparently the last hit he needed. Not a real issue, just more what you are preferred to.- Health bar (can also be seen as a pro)- Weapon upgrades are quite expensive

Resident Evil 5 goes mainstream, but turning it's back on the creepy horror for guns and action in sunny Africa. After the damp castles, dreary streets and overcast European villages it's time the S.T.A.R.S operatives get some R&R, cracking skulls in the sunshine.Sent to Africa to investigate B.O.Ws (bio-organic weapons, not stray dogs) Chris Redfield packs his speedos and suncream, and finds the mutant earwigs from the prequel have spread south to Africa from Europe - damn those lax immigration laws. He picks up a local tour rep, Sheva, a far cry(!) from Ashley, the limp President's daughter from Resident Evil 4, who is handy at not only pointing out the best bars, but also can waste ammo and get stuck on scenery like any good PC controlled AI.On the way, the pair get to sample a local beheading, get chased out of town by the village butcher, go on monster truck safari with motorcycle gangs, take a boat trip tour to the local tribes, where they bring their own brand of 9mm humanitarian aid to the sick; and take a visit to the local factory, getting to play with the largest tapeworms you've ever seen. Chris meets up with Jill Valentine, dressed as a Venetian doctor from Assassin's Creed 2, his ever mutating buddy Wesker and a cast of thousands to double tap, burn, stomp, combo, kneecap and otherwise offend another ethnic group. After all these years, S.T.A.R.S still hasn't trained its people to run and gun at the same time; in these days of lynch mob executions, stopping to aim at a baying mob is just silly - Hollywood has been training stars to shoot and walk with knees together for years, so more action / less horror in this title should have meant upping the pace in terms of combat.Nevertheless, it's still good fun in the sun; Resident Evil gameplay mechanics are all there, crowd scenes, shipping container mazes, quick time events, inventory shuffling, ammo management, headshots, kneecapping, sea monsters, oversized Capcom baddies, cheesy storyline, evil corporation and not forgetting the banana-split dogs. Mercenaries mode makes a reappearance too, there are badges to shoot/collect, so once the SP story is finished there are still lots of things to do.It's also easier to play than RE4, the mouse controlled reticule making lining up those headshots a breeze - for all those who lamented lack of mouse control in the prequel, it's now perhaps gone a bit too far; a lot of the menace of 3 or 4 adversaries previously is gone, and replacing it with lots of red eyed townfolk is more akin to barging through mad shoppers in the shoe and handbag sales in the High Street than running for your life.Visuals are better than Devil May Cry 4, certainly nicer than RE4 (even with patch), and runs quite nicely on my 560 GTX at 1080p resolution. The system benchmark graphs show a minimum of 50fps on my ageing PC, which is more than enough for this title. I had the one crash during a cutscene, just before the sea monster, but skipping it seemed to work fine.A bargain for those who liked RE4, and perhaps the most accessible Resident Evil for newcomers, with the caveat that this isn't a fast paced corridor/platform shooter...And where's the guy in the dirty raincoat?

Resident Evil 5 is the latest (at the moment) in the Resident Evil series and this is the Ultimate Edition of this game as it includes access codes to the DLC content. The downside to this is that you NEED an Xbox Live account to be able to access and download the additional content (It is not on the disc)The game itself is very good BUT it is not really a horror survival title - more of an action game. I think this is mainly because the main game is played through with an AI partner rather than on you own. You can play the campaign solo or co-operatively - I recommend co-operatively as the AI controlled partner is not the most intelligent partner. It is set in Africa and the graphics are good too. There is a mix of all out action, on-rails shooting and a few QTE's too but don't let that put you off - the few quick time events do not spoil the overall game and require you to press the right buttons at the right time or else you end up having to restart from the checkpoint but once mastered are easy (personally I hate QTE events but it didn't really put me off this game) The campaign also encourages you to play through the campaign more than once and also various levels too as all money and items collected can be picked up EACH time you play the level and add to your overall money - this can be very useful if you don't have enough money to upgrade your (or your partners weapons). After you have completed the campaign you unlock various costumes and the ability to play the campaign as Sheva (your partner in the first playthrough)as well as starting with all the weaponry and upgrades that you unlock as you work your way through the first time. The DLC offers a few extra costumes for the main campaign (that you can wear from the very start), A couple of add-on 'episodes' (Desparate Escape and Lost in Nightmares), Versus mode and Mercenaries Reunion as well as a few more virtual figurines that you can view. Both the Desperate Escape and Lost in Nightmares add-on packs are worth playing, but neither are essential to the Resident Evil 5 experience. Mercenaries mode is a ton of fun, but it's automatically unlocked at the end of the standard version of RE5, and the Mercenaries Reunion is simply the standard Mercenaries mode with some extra characters and costumes. Versus Mode is a four-player, team-based deathmatch that's just sort of silly. Running around shooting other Jills and Chrises is nowhere near as entertaining as fighting waves of infected creatures. Some will enjoy the novelty of Versus, but the real multiplayer fun in RE5 lies in Mercenaries mode.If you own the standard version - this may not be worth buying as you can probably get the DLC cheaper and still need to download it but if you don't own it, I would highly recommend this game - just don't expect it to be a horror survival title like some of its predecessors

The last time I played a Resident Evil title was on the original Playstation, and things have moved along quite a lot in the interim. RE5 isn't bad so long as you're prepared to live in the moment. The action and set-pieces are often enjoyable, but as with most Japanese "dramatic"-type games, the plot is hilariously deficient and paper-thin anyway. RE5 is a very good looking game (and there is a free benchmarking download available from nVidia.com if you want to see how it will run on your PC before buying), but there's virtually no observable difference between the DX9 and DX10 versions of the game. The gameplay starts off pretty strongly, and the difficulty is pronounced and ramps up quickly if you play on "veteran" or higher.Getting mobbed by, and fighting the zombies is great fun, and as ever, the keyboard and mouse prove hugely more intuitive than a console controller. The controls adhere to the classic Resident Evil "move or shoot but not both" mechanic, and can be awkward until you adjust your playing style. You also have to "use" everything, whether it's pulling a lever, opening a door, or making a jump, and this can get clunky in places. After about level 4 or 5, however, the gameplay starts nosediving into more and more cliched interactive cutscene / quicktime events which will frustrate until you figure out what you need to be doing, and this is repeated with the boss baddies later on. They'll have a obvious (and sometimes not so obvious) weak spots you need to exploit. This gets pretty tiresome and cliched as the game progresses, though - it's as if mid 1980s arcade games never died, and often, you'll spend all your ammo trying to find the technique you need to use to kill them. As I played through with a pal, the quicktime events and boss battles were, by far, really the only times we died.Where RE5 shines, though, is the online co-op mode, during which a great many laughs can be had at the risible plot and story telling. The co-op mode is hugely fun compared to the solo play, and worth getting a pal to play through with you. You'll get a solid 12 hours or so of gameplay this way at least. In all, I don't regret buying RE5, and the co-op is great fun - but it starts off well then tails off pretty badly as you progress. At less than RRP prices, this is well worth a look.

There are very limited choice of games with good plot, excellent graphics and co-op multilayer (where you and your friend can play together to complete single player missions). This game is one of them and this is a reason why I gave it 5 stars despite some design flaws.First you can't shoot and walk at the same time. For pro PC gamers who used to higher standards and better controls than console players it is a clear flaw which makes game less realistic. Its similar to famous DOOM3 "no duct tape on Mars" wrongness. Creators call it "feature" which should make experience more scary but in reality it made me just annoyed for about 3 levels until I got used to it (if you want really scary game then play "Dead Space" alone and in the dark at night on big screen with 5.1 headphones). These things usually happens when lead choice-maker surrounds himself by people who are too afraid to criticize his wrong decisions. So if you need to attack somebody from close range then there are situations when you are inch short so you need to put your weapon away, step forward, bump into target, pull your weapon out and continue. Another flaw is inability to load ammo directly into your empty gun when your bag is full. Its not a satisfying situation when enemies are attacking and you can't shoot, because you need to empty your bag through menu first. Third flaw is button hitting competition. It means that some keyboard combinations will flash on your screen for a very short period of time and you need to hit on these keys crazy like a rabbit in order to win. In co-op we always died 4-5 times before completing such parts, so at some point I was simply hitting on all involved keys at the same time (QA team clearly failed to indicate that issue properly). Bag management is another issue. Ability to exchange some items is a good idea but management itself was done in strange way.So my final thoughts. Buy, if you want to play this game with friend. Despite its drawbacks it will be a great experience. But if you are looking for single player and are old enough to play all best shooters of last two decades (Doom 1/2/3, Wolfenstein 1/2/3, Half-Life all episodes, Quake all versions, Stalker, Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Modern Warfare, etc...) then this game won't be so impressive.

For those new to the Resident Evil franchise, this is a superb third-person action shooter. For those who've played Resident Evil 4, this is a superb third-person action shooter that will doubtless instil you with a serious sense of deja-vu.The basic game play is essentially identical to its predecessor albeit with a few interesting (and frustrating) additions and expansions. 2 player co-operation is now a focal feature of the experience with your partner driven either by a chum or by a abysmal AI. It's highly recommended having a friend handy to work through the story campaign together - this makes the brief missions a far more exciting proposition. One area where Resident Evil 5 excels is its stunning visuals. In DirectX 10 mode, the game is a real visual feast. The characters, environments and effects are rendered in heart-stopping detail. Animations and level layouts are top notch as well. The inventory also gets a looking at. Gone is the Leon's attaché case, replaced in favour of nine inventory slots per character. Tactically, it forces a player to focus on a couple of weapon choices rather than carrying the arsenal previously afforded to players of Resident Evil 4. However, trading items between characters is a major headache and hardly intuitive. Passing some much needed ammo to your partner in a fire fight typically ends badly for both parties involved. As for the bad guys themselves, we are treated to a similar array of slimy fiends from the previous entry. Big, pointy tentacles sprout from the heads of your human foes, and the major bosses are also inventive and similarly icky. The combat and weapons are also fun and exciting, although the partner dynamic isn't exploited nearly enough throughout the course of the missions. There are still some fantastic set pieces and moments to enjoy, however.Once the story missions have been played to death, you've also got the Mercenaries mode from Resident Evil 4 making a welcome return. The emphasis is on fast-paced killing action and in itself it makes for some fantastic entertainment.Overall, this is a tremendous game. If you enjoyed RE4, you'll love more of the same with a twist. If you haven't played RE4, you're in for even more of a treat.

I've been after this for a while, but I've been waiting for it to drop below £10.Once it did, here on Amazon, I ordered a copy. However, while trying to install, it just wouldnt. Disk kept spinning and the progress bar stopped moving.I tried several times and got the same result. Dissapointed, and thinking the disk was part of a bad batch, I sent it back for a refund (thanks Amazon).A few months later, the game was back on Amazon from a different seller, so I bought it again. I couldnt believe it. While trying to install, the game once again ground to a halt and the disk just span in the drive!! This time, I had a brain wave. I copied the complete contents of the CD onto my HD,and ran the Setup file from there. Hey presto! It worked! Game installed with no problems at all. Just wish I'd have thought of that 6 months ago when I bought it the first time.... (I will add, that I have had no trouble installing any other game, before or since)I really wanted to write this review just to inform people of the problem and easy fix.As far as the game is concerned, its a hoot. Its more of a shooter than a horror / survival game. There are a couple of jumpy bits in it, but its no 'Dead Space 2'. Running in DirectX 10 mode, the graphics are pretty good. The shooting is solid. The story is intriguing enough to keep you playing. Shiva isnt as annoying as others make out, but you do have to manage her ammo (I upgraded her pistol as much as mine, so that each shot she fired was more effective.) It would have been good to be able to give her more commands, such as 'hold this position', but I'm nitpicking.I will say that I thought the difficulty level was unbalanced. I would fly through the levels with no trouble, then take 20 attempts to down the end of level boss. Right at the end are 2 boss fights, one after the other, with very little ammo available inbetween. I wont spoil it for you, I'll just say that when you get to the first one, you'll know you're near the end, so dont let rip with everything you've got!Overall, I really enjoyed it and have started my second play through.Good game. Can't wait for RE6.......

Reading through some of the user reviews for RE5 I think I might just be in a parallel universe. The endless gripes and whinges from people who want to snipe at the game for 'not being as good as RE4' or being somehow (impossibly, imo) a 'shoddy port' of the console version... Frankly, these kind of 'reviews' are laughable.I love RE5. Not because I'm a RE5 fanboy (I'm not - I haven't ever played through RE4) but because it's a well-made, hugely replayable and fun game. I think it looks outstanding on PC - far from any kind of 'shoddy port' in fact (and, yes, I also have the 360 version which I have played to death, so I do know the difference).I have experienced absolutely NO stability issues with the game running in DX10 on Win7 whatsoever. None - in over twelve hours of gameplay. Windows Live connectivity is automatic and free and also perfectly stable. This is a large, linear adventure/survival horror game with a very enjoyable RPG aspect (level up your weapons with loot and experience points). You can play the entire game in SP with an AI buddy called Sheva - or you can play co-operative (online) with your friend taking the place of the AI). Many have moaned about the lacklustre quality of the game's AI: I experienced few, if any, problems with it in SP and actually found it quite helpful (pay special attention to Sheva's weapons load-out and level up her guns and she'll perform admirably for you).Beautiful level design, marvellous graphical FX (especially under DX10) and an engaging storyline all combine to produce an endlessly replayable series of missions. Some of the dialogue is cheesy, but the real-time in-engine cut-scenes are beautifully produced (unlock some of the hidden costumes and the cut-scenes will feature them on Chris and Sheva - nice).RE5 for PC features 'Mercenaries' as it's free-to-play online component (can also be played solo, offline) where the player/s take on endless waves of enemies in a kind of survival mode; clearing these missions unlocks hidden extras. Great fun against the clock and also handy as practice for the main game.

This is not like the early Resident Evil games. It shares a handful of similarities:You cannot walk when you have your knife out. You do mix red and green herbs. You do aim to aim for the head when shooting zombies. The world is in danger from a now very familiar virus/zombie threat. You do open gates with re attached medallion pieces. Your inventory is never big enough for comfort. However it also shares allot with the original Doom. You wander down 3D corridors and rooms splattering hoards of monsters with handguns, shotguns, rifles and machine guns listening to constant growls and explosions.Resident Evil balances those styles well to a point but it does compromise to accommodate. As a horror game the puzzles are practically non existent and it rarely builds up tension. As a 3D shooter you have the slightly awkward horror controls getting in the way of fluid movement. At the end of the day though. Running around and shooting zombies on limited ammo whilst making sure your companion stays alive is fun. I wouldn't want to play it on hard unless I was playing with another human as both the ammo and companion could become a frustration rather than an amusement. Also after completing it and unlocking infinite ammo on a weapon I found I had no desire to replay or unlock any more of the many little extras. The graphics are impressive if not mind blowing. Graphically it felt original and yet familiar. With the strong sunshine in the game, good use is made of corners and windows to create an unknown threat. An xbox style controller is put to good use. There is plenty to disappoint some Resident Evil fans so I would exercise caution when purchasing RE5. However it is still a very good game in it's own right and manages to stand out from the many identikit shooters available (for one playthrough anyway).

The long awaited sequel to the brilliant Resident evil 4 is here. Is it any good? in short a disapointment. As I said this game was a disapointment but thats not saying it's a bad game. The game itself is actualy quite fun the first time round and co op works fine and the charectors are ok I guess no one new stands out by which I mean series regulars like Chris and Jill are awsome Sheva not so much.So the Pro's The game feels awsome the enemies although not zombies are quite intresting the boss fights are intresting. Co op works well and has some replay value. The Con's well despite having varying levels it just dosn't have the survival horror feel to which as a Resident Evil fan this game needsthe unlikeable charecters Sheva is just a pain and the AI ends up screwing you over half the time. Example im bleeding out and Sheva just watched. As this is the Gold Eddition you get the DLC's for the game and thats about it but for the price it's worth it.Now the game comes with two new dlc campaigns which are quite short and is kind of a let down however Lost in Knighmares takes the game back to survival horror routes and for fans of the series will have De Ja Vu if youve ever played RE1All in all RE5 isnt bad but isnt anything special unlocking infinte ammo is a neat little time waster and a few hidded items to find make it a decent game but nothing compared to previous RE titles3/5 not bad not great either

The fifth installment is an impressive package that offers fans of the series an experience similar to that of 4, but enhanced chiefly by the co-operative gameplay and new vehicle / gun turret sections. The game's main strengths are the pretty spectacular graphics, gameplay and general re-playability.The PC version is great as keyboard/mouse and controller (you can only really use the XBOX controller for windows here, I tried using another and ran into problems) inputs work very smoothly. With VSync on to stop the cutscenes tearing, the game runs smooth and looks fantastic - you'd be surprised by the low specification actually required to play on DX10 at 60+ fps. Loading times are also really short, making this my fave version (also have on PS3/played on XB360).There are negatives, for example a lot more could have been made of Chapter 4, you aguably need to re-play sections of the game to get enough resources/upgrades in order to finish it comfortably first time, and there's still the overly-powerful magnums, puny-sounding starting pistol etc. (and we're getting a bit fed up of Wesker by now...)However, whether it's just to get more bonus extras/ mode unlocks or to play through on a harder mode, overall you can't deny this is a game that will make you want to keep coming back for more!

I bought this game as I really like action thriller type games, and the Resident Evil series has always fit the bill. What I particularly liked about this installment in the series was the fact it was based in Africa, which has never been done for. Fighting around and inside some of Africa's most beautiful locations alone is visually stunning. I also liked the new co-op feature. Something about a partner always having your back was something Resident Evil 4 and below left to be desired in my opinion, although I know a load will disagree with me, which is why I shall mention the lone wolf feature. The only notable think I disliked about this game was the fact you still can't move whilst shooting, which is a good and bad feature. Good as it can add a tense, eerie atmosphere knowing when to risk standing still to shoot, or running for your life. Or frustrating when you just end up getting mauled. So Resident Evil 5 gets a 4/5 star for me, as it is still more likely than not to entertain any Resident Evil fan, Or anybody looking to pick up an action thriller they haven't tried before!Read full review...

First off I must say that RESIDENT EVIL 5 doesnt even come close to the first 4 games (1,2,3,C:V). It's just another action/destroy all you see game. The tagline is rubbish aswell... "A fear you can't forget.." hmmmm, maybe... if there was any fear in the game.ANYWAY! Despite being nowhere as good as the originals, RE5 is still a top notch game. If you haven't already got it, now is the time to get it. The Gold Edition includes ALL of the downloadable extras aswell as the full game, and for just under £20 its a true bargain.Though I must question something... Amazon and several other retailers had this game down for release today (September 10th) even though it has actually been out since March...Strange goings on. And no I'm not thinking of the US release date either as one of my mates had this preordered in my local game shop and received the game back in March, with full BBFC age rating and all, so it wasent an import. It even had the code to get all the DLC as included in supposed todays release. I've even seen new and used PAL UK copies in Gamestation sice March.
