Ok so I have had this game nearly two days now and so far I have completed Leon's campaign, played roughly three hours of chris's campaign and played two hours worth of Jake's campaign. My thoughts so far? That this game is more dissapointing than it is actually bad.Let's talk about what the game gets right first.Well to start, this game is fantastic value for money, with 3 campaigns that last around 6 hours each, a fourth campaign that is unlocked upon completion of the other 3, The Mercenaries mode is back, Agent Hunt mode is a very interesting idea that allows other players online to play as the zombies and other creatures you bump into while playing the campaigns. So if you like your games to last you a long time, then Resident Evil 6 has you covered.Another thing the game gets spot on is Leon's campaign. It's great. A lot of people have complained that the series has abandoned it's survival horror roots and that this entry is no exception. Well I don't know about those people, but I found myself constantly struggling to find ammo and health.(I played on Veteran difficulty by the way. There may be more supplies on the lower difficulties.) There are far too many enemies for you to kill them all which means frequently running away, trying to find the next safe haven where you can catch your breath. To me, this is what Resident Evil and Survival Horror is all about. Trying to survive impossible odds with anything you can find. If it wasn't for the unfortunate lack of actual puzzles and being able to properly explore your surroundings, I would call Leon's campaign a true return to form for the series.A lot of people have complained that the new melee system is way too overpowered. Well trust me when I say it isn't. Ok so maybe during the first hour or so of gameplay it can feel very powerful, but as you progress through the story, you'll bump into several creatures who will just shrug off any melee attacks you throw at them. The trick to mastering this game is knowing when to melee and when to shoot. It's a good system and feels like a mini puzzle in itself. Some people have complained about the melee system, saying that it turns the series even more towards action. They may have a point, but let me ask you a question, if a zombie was coming towards you in real life, would you not do everything you could to keep them back, or would you just stand there and wait until it bit your face off like you would have to do in the older titles? I know what I would do.Another common complaint is that this game is not scary in the slightest. I would probably agree with that point but I will say that the games atmosphere and sound design is top notch at times. Apart from maybe jumping 2 or 3 times during Leon's campaign, I didn't find it all that scary at all. But then again, apart from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and some parts in Resident Evil 2 I never really found the games all that scary anyway. I will say that if you find the older Resi games terrifying, stay the hell away from the Silent Hill and Project Zero games.I know that some people don't like the idea of constantly having a partner with them while playing single player. I'm not too fond of this either but Capcom have at least given us some options to soften the blow. There is a lone wolf skill for example, which will apparently stop your partner from helping you in any way. Yes your partner will still be by your side but what can you do? Also the fourth unlockable campaign is single player only.So do I have any complaints? Plenty actually. From what ive played of chris and Jake's campaigns, they just aren't all that enjoyable. The first hour or so of chris's campaign consists mainly of running down linear corridors and shooting any enemies you bump into along the way. It's game design that would have felt ancient a decade ago. From there the game opens up a bit for the next chapter, which has you taking out tanks, sniping machine gunners and taking out anti aircraft guns. Yes, you read that right. You have to take out anti aircraft guns. I can honestly say I never thought I would have to complete such ridiculous tasks in a Resident Evil game. It would be like having to cook dinner for your family in a Gran turismo game. But thankfully chris's campaign is all out action which means there should be plenty of ammo lying around for you to take down enemies right? Oh wait....Yes, another huge complaint I have with chris's campaign is the lack of ammunition in it. It's ok in Leon's campaign as that is the horror portion of the game but to not have enough ammo in the action portion of the game is completely ridiculous. I'm not going to go into details with the rest of my complaints as this review has already gone on too long so I'll quickly go through them. The cover system is very clunky and requires you to press two buttons to use it. If you have to use the cover system, I recommend sliding into cover as it works a lot better that way. The boss battles aren't all that engaging either to be honest. Many of them just require you to shoot at very obvious weak points. Some even require you to shoot red barrels that explode as the boss walks past them. What year is this? 1998?Ok so Resident Evil 6 is disappointing, there's no two ways about it. It promised to be one of the best Resi games ever. It seemed like a true game of the year contender. What we have been left with is an enjoyable game with a lot of flaws. The English magazine Games said that you should buy this game for Leon's campaign and to just see everything else as a huge amount of bonus content. I totally feel the same way. Leon's campaign is very enjoyable and while Chris and Jake's campaigns might not be as enjoyable as other third person shooters like the Gears of War or Uncharted games, their at least better than other mediocre third person shooters like the Kane and Lynch series. In the end I can't accurately predict how you will feel about this game. You might hate it, you might love it, hell it might even be your favourite of the series.(If your part of the last group, their are plenty of institutions where you can get the help you so need and deserve.)I will sum up by saying you should probably see Resident Evil 6 as a long term investment. There is just so much content in here, you could easily invest hundreds of hours into the thing. It always seems to want to show you a new mode, campaign, location or unlockable and in this age of 4 hour campaigns and repetitive multiplayer, that counts for a lot.The Survival Horror Specialist 03/10/2012Update: So it seems someone must have taken offence to my review cause someone thumbed down nearly every one of my horror reviews after reading this. Maybe it's the fact I call myself the survival horror specialist. Just so people understand, I don't call myself that to make myself seem important. My opinion is no more important than anyone else's. I use that name so people will know they can contact me if they need any information about the survival horror genre. I've completed the original resident evil at least a dozen times, I cleared silent hill 3 4 times within a month when I first got it. I've played pretty much every survival horror game ever made, from Resi to project zero, Penumbra to Amnesia, so I obviously know what I'm talking about. But like I said, that doesn't make my review scores any more right than anyone else's, it's just my opinion. With that said, I have completed the game and I stick by what I said earlier. Leon's campaign is very enjoyable. Chris and Jake have their moments but for the most part, their campaigns are meh. Ada's campaign is very enjoyable however, and it's worth playing through the other campaigns to unlock it.Like I said previously, I can't accurately say how you'll feel about this game but it's definitely worth a rental to find out.

To start just a brief word on the steel book edition. This comes with another disk only containing non English language voice dubs and no other added extras that I can find at all. Also given the weight of it quite how much steel is in it I wouldn't like to say. Certainly not as much as the Resident Evil 5 Steel book which also has a making of extras DVD. So (unless you wish to hear it dubbed in languages other than English of course), buy only if you are a rabid collector, or (as in my case) you can find it cheaper than the normal version. Now, onto the game.I've only played Resi 4 and 5 (which I rate highly for different reasons) and now 6, so I don't qualify for fanboyism, and neither do I care to.It's obvious that a lot of thought and effort was put into this game, it's a shame that you're sometimes left wondering where it all went? For a start the length of it is absolutely bang for buck. With 4 campaigns of roughly the same length as Resi 5, including Ada's (which gets unlocked after completion of the first three) and Chris, Leon and Jake's. Chris and Leon's both contain elements reminiscent of their last adventures. Chris's is the more combat shooter orientated and Leon's is supposedly the closest to a survival horror adventure. Although In my opinion It isn't particularly frightening at all, certainly nothing along the lines of Resi 4, and there are a few reasons for that.Although the graphics are very good, sound wise I found the atmospherics really lacking. The intense and truly frightening music and Foly of the type found in 4 is sadly nowhere in evidence here, and what little is there is way too down in the mix to be effective. Traditional zombies make a return, but they are often overused. I found part of what gave 4 it's heart pounding thrills were the hit points where one was suddenly facing an ominous horde or foe of some description (complete with intense music) that helped contribute to make the experience pretty uneasy. In this game they are often more frequent throughout, but I'm afraid a few shambling around here and there groaning unconvincingly does not make for survival horror. There are some reasonable horde attack moments of various descriptions. But again just nothing that quite reaches the intensity of previous games. The sound is something they used to get spot on in Resident Evil. Quite what went wrong this time is one of a fair few puzzling questions. Even the Ghostbusters game often had a more suspenseful atmosphere than this which I think just about says it all.I've always enjoyed the humour in the series so far. Such as the classic vendor in 4 or Irwin's "extreme makeover" in 5 which was ridiculous and funny, but still a reasonable boss fight. In this installment however it often just comes over as plain silly. I found this particularly true in many of the new enemy designs. From the ludicrous big fat Zombies to the strange insect bodied human hybrids, many of the supposed monsters were just laughable this time around. There was a type of grasshopper human sniper hybrid, which I suspect were greatly inspired by Resistance 3. But unlike in that game, instead of springing nimbly around the rooftops and being a general menace, I found they would often just stay still or walk slowly towards you resembling rather sedated Ostriches. There were many other examples of what were initially good ideas not used to their best effect. The character dialogue has often been cheesy in past games, but Chris's character in particular suffers from such cripplingly generic Hollywood hero treatment this time it's a wonder he doesn't implode into a swirling vortex of rampant cliché. I found myself really noticing the general lack of interesting characters in this installment, which made me miss Sheva Alomar even more. This was also odd given that Leon's mission partner Helena Harper, is played by voice actress Laura Bailey. Miss Bailey's considerable talents have added a whole new dimension to some fairly average games in the past (such as Blood Rayne). But I'm afraid even she couldn't seem to bring much depth to the rather one dimensional Helena. The one positive exception is Sherry Birkin, who although not a new character has been developed in a way that seems promising. It's all subjective of course but personally I found her presence definitely made new character Jake's campaign a lot more enjoyable. Jake himself may well be a major protagonist in the next game (if there is one).I tried not to turn this into a list of complaints, but frankly it's hard to avoid. The new inventory system has been streamlined in a way that I didn't much care for, even after having got used to it. This one involves collecting skill points in order to upgrade weapons and combat. They are as always ludicrously expensive in order to encourage multiple plays through. But you can only ever equip three at once (although you can swap between multiple sets of three in game). The ability to upgrade and equip individual weapons of your choice has been removed. So have the treasures, which again were part of what used to make Resident Evil feel slightly magical and unworldly. So personally I would vote for a return to the previous system. The combat controls have been slightly altered again, and although really not bad once you get used to them, they don't seem terribly intuitively laid out at first. I don't play on line so can only comment on the single player experience. I've played through twice so far as the main story characters, you can also play as the partners. I do want to underline that in my opinion there definitely are many good and enjoyable aspects to this game. But I do largely agree with many of the general criticisms. There are way too many Quick Time Events. The repetition of certain bosses caused by the intersecting parts of the story can get a little old. Some of the boss fights are ludicrously protracted, and occasionally so tightly scripted I wondered if the game had glitched a couple of times. The story itself doesn't always seem to make too much sense either. I did enjoy the number and diversity of the vehicular levels personally, but I know a lot of folks didn't.All in all it would be truly disastrous if a game of this length didn't have anything good going for it at all. That is certainly not the case here, but ultimately I was left feeling it could and should have been so much better. Given how long this franchise has been running, it doesn't seem too unreasonable or "entitled" to expect a fairly all round high standard. They have certainly delivered in the past, and at times they do again with Resi 6. But still I hope they will strive to improve the many weaker areas in future installments. Complaints aside for a moment, I would still hate to see the Resident Evil game franchise bite the dust completely. And I'm saddened (although unsurprised) that, particularly after this offering, many people seem to feel that it already has.

S T O R YThose no good bio-weapons are at it again, but this time theyre having fun with the C-Virus and giving the game's protagonists a tough time too. Firstly, we have the now grown-up Sherry Birkin, and newcomer Jake Muller. Jake is a freedom fighter and makes it his business to counter bio-terrorism, as part of his liberation army. He is of great interest to Sherry Birkin, who knows of Jake's genetic condition, which will allow them create a vaccine from his anti-bodies. Secondly, Chris Redfield returns as a BSAA captain, called back into duty to stop the rampant C-Virus vaccine. Ada Wong is seemingly running rampant and spreading mass infection. It's left up to Chris and his team member,Piers, to put a stop to Ada's erratic ways. Lastly, Leon Kennedy is caught up with the effects of C-Virus in the USA and the effect it has had on those close to him. He is helped by a secret service agent, Helena, to dig deeper into the outbreak and find out who's responsible. The strongest aspect of the story is how the three separate campaigns intersect and how the C-Virus brings all the characters together. The individual campaigns are given room to breathe and this allows for a little character development too. Jake definitely has a tough task of establishing himself, but there is one healthy ingredient that makes him integral to the experience.G R A P H I C S & S O U N DResident Evil 6 is bursting with greater scope and the production values are through the roof! The environments are jaw dropping, starting with the wartorn streets of the fictional land of Edonia, showcasing a cold and sterile feel. Next we have the glamorous streets of China, alive with fancy neon-lighting everywhere, but crumbling under the madness of the C-Virus. Tall Oakes, USA, is the next stop, which broods a dark atmosphere when wandering its zombie-filled streets. It wouldn't be Resident Evil without strange underground facilities and high-tech complexes. The nostalgia really hit me when battling through the zombie hordes of Tall Oakes, instantly taking me back to the chills I felt when I first played Resident Evil 2. This was Raccoon City all over again! The attention to detail is amazing, rubble clutters the streets, blood is smeared over a multitude of surfaces and the destructive nature of the C-Virus' effects can be seen wherever you go. Level design is largely linear, but this keeps each campaign focused and constantly engages the player. A handful of branching paths can be available, but these lead towards bonus items, or even collectibles. There are some stunning effects to witness, as fire glistens and lights up surrounding areas, lightning flashes blaze through windows and interior lighting creates a spooky atmosphere. Character models have been impeccably crafted, ranging from combat gear, to even the hair of characters realistically flowing with each movement. The animations have been improved and seem less clunky to those of Resident Evil 5. The J'avo are the new freaks on the loose, display gruesome mutations and eye popping transformations. The voice acting is a strong component, it's much more believable and the story brings out some interesting conflicts between lead characters. The soundtrack is a mixed bag and occasionally adds to the atmosphere of the game. Sound design backs up the experience remarkably well, helping to magnify this rollercoaster ride. There are some drawbacks when it comes to textures, some of which are downright bland and suck the life out of some environments. A handful of levels are uninteresting and keep navigation too constricted.G A M E P L A YResident Evil 6 is brimming with content and the three story campaigns will provide solid entertainment. Sherry and Jake's campaign provides many thrilling moments, which is reinforced by Jake's anti-hero type nature and willingness to do crazy crap when necessary. Chris' and Piers campaign has a squad-based shooter feel, which brings forth a lot more action and high energy set-pieces. Leon and Helena are honoured with the survival horror element of their campaign, a fantastic throwback to the days of the first three games of the series. The co-op effect is in full force and players can opt to buddy-up online, or get in some split-screen action offline. The AI of your partner is a vast improvement over the previous title, and you won't need to worry about your partner falling to a gruesome death so easily. The gameplay is linear and it is a case of going from point A to point B. The developers have opted to keep the action flowing and minimalise any need for backtracking. Occasionally, a handful of levels do open out and produce scripted action moments. Even though, the gameplay is action oriented there are some thrilling moments where you must battle to keep alive against hordes of enemies. Some of these encounters can be borderline frustrating, but add variety to each campaign. Resident Evil 6 wants to get the player's adrenaline pumping, and it certainly does with a whole host of action set-pieces. There are moments where you'll battle giant BOWs, escape hordes of enemies on a speedy motorcycle, or even run for your life from a psychotic BOW. Action is the name of the game here and each campaign is packed with high octane moments. QTEs make their mark and are required for many of these cinematic moments, but they are also used for other gameplay needs. The controls see an improvement, which reflects upon the smoother character movement and tighter aiming mechanics. The most relieving aspect is the ability to both aim and move at the same time, an omission from the previous game, which I never quite understood. Enemy AI is generally aggressive and the mutations of the J'avo are sure to keep you on edge. It's great to see the classic zombies return too, and even better to go headshot crazy when they're about! The cover system is beyond frustrating and it is pointless to use. If Capcom truly wish to evolve the series then they need to make this system more intuitive. The QTEs are far too excessive and take control away from the player a little too often. Chris' campaign is the weakest of the three and serves up a mediocre experience. The responsiveness of characters can also be improved and a better evasive system should be implemented to keep up with the frantic action.O V E R A L LWhen it comes to content, Resident Evil 6 boasts three length campaigns, which easily amass 15-20 hours in total. On top of other there is an extra campaign to unlock, a mercenaries mode and extra multiplayer features too. The story is decent and the intersecting nature of it is interesting. Visually, the game may not be miles ahead of its predecessor, but it has great scope and stunning technology behind it. The gameplay is fun and offers up a plethora of combat situations, but the QTEs take the spotlight a little too often.

It became very trendy to hate on Resident Evil 6 - almost as if by bad-mouthing this game you could prove your 'gaming credentials' by proclaiming how much you preferred Resi 4, or Resi 2. This happens in all art-forms - I have lost count of the number of album reviews I've read, for instance, where the reviewer laments that their favourite band 'isn't what they used to be'.Be that as it may, I've been playing Resident Evil games since I first got my hands on a demo of the original Resident Evil in a Dixons in 1996. Since then I've played every main game and - to my knowledge - every side-game, mini-game, spin-off etc., with the exception of Operation Raccoon City.Let's be blunt: Capcom have a tendency to innovate at times and to be highly derivative at other times. The original Resi game was heavily influenced by Alone in the Dark, for instance which was, in some respects, a better game. Adding in tank-controlled gun-play taken from Fade to Black created a wonderful formula for a haunted-house survival horror game. Resi 2 perfected the formula and created a genuine gaming masterpiece. By the time Capcom released Resi 4, however, they were once again chasing a trend. Recognising the increasing popularity of first-person shooters, they managed to implement first-person elements into their traditionally third-person game. The result, the 'over-the-shoulder' view, has since become highly influential and Resi 4 was a wonderful - if rather linear - gameplay experience.Resident Evil 5 felt like Capcom treading water. The game was, to all extents and purposes, a better-looking Resi 4 with added co-operative elements and improved combat. Credit to Capcom, however, few games boast couch co-op in this day and age and I think this was one of the most important and unsung innovations of Resi 5.Resi 6, therefore had a choice: innovate or refine. In a sense, they opted for both. Resident Evil 6 takes, as its predecessors had, elements of a popular genre of the day and incorporated them into the Resident Evil universe. In this case, it was QTEs ('Quick-Time-Events') and cover-based shooting. Given the implementation of these two mechanics, the result was invariably going to be a game that had a stronger focus on combat than ever before. As a result, you get guns, frenetic action sequences and explosive cut-scenes in which you are an active participant. All of which doesn't feel very Resident Evil in and of itself, but Resi 6 offers so much variety, that it is never simply about running and gunning. You see, Resident Evil 6 is a long game with 4 chapters. Each chapter takes about as long to complete as a standard AAA action game (7-8 hours). Each chapter features two protagonists with different skills and abilities and you can play the first three chapters twice with each character. In effect (or play the whole thing co-op), then, you are getting 7 games for the price of one (8 if you include the length mercenaries mode). Over the course of these 9 games you'll spend some time shooting, but you'll also spend a lot of time running, hiding, conserving ammo, riding motorbikes, helicopters, snow-mobiles, crawling through sewers, jumping across roofs, knifing zombies, sniping monsters, launching rockets into faces, sneaking, distracting, dodging. In fact, if the game could be criticised for anything, it could be that at times it feels like it has multiple personalities - there's never an idea repeated, each new hour brings something new for you to experience.Over all of this, the game retains a Resident Evil aesthetic, familiar strains of music, gloriously camp acting, horrifying gore and body-shock terror. This feels like a Resident Evil game and it plays like the designers have tried to incorporate elements of every game in the mainline series into one giant celebratory package. As a result, if you are a fan of the Resident Evil series there will be something here you enjoy - even if it is only one of the campaigns. If you are a fan of shooters, you'll find something to enjoy. If you are a fan of survival horror, you'll find something to enjoy. But what you won't find is a carbon copy of Resident Evil; Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, or whichever game it is currently trendy to say is the best. Resi 6 isn't the best in the series, but for what it is worth, it is the most fun I've had playing a video game in a very long time.

Resident Evil 6 is a great game with many positive sides, but as with any game, there are also flaws. However, these flaws do not necessarily detract from the overall experience that the game has to offer.Overall, on a 10 point scale, I rate the game a 9.5/10.Graphics: 9.75/10.The environmental graphics are well-done, not perfect, but well done. Character models (including zombies and J'avo) are exceptional. The graphics are somewhat lacking in the vehicle department, though this is not a huge problem as very little time is actually spent in vehicles.Gameplay: 9/10The gameplay is great, at times. The controls can be very fluid, but can also be very irritating. The worst aspect of the gameplay is the "force you to look" camera view. When something interesting or important happens, the camera pans to the event even if you are in the middle of combat. This is great if the important event happens to kill all the enemies you are currently fighting; however, more often than not, while the camera is focused in on an event taking place, enemies are smacking you around. This is especially irritating on Professional difficulty as health items are very limited and each successful attack an enemy lands on you takes a great deal of your health. I still give the gameplay a 9/10 because this isn't something that occurs constantly, but is nevertheless irritating. "Gears of War" was successful where "Resident Evil 6" failed, when consideration is given to the fact that GOW allows you to look when it is convenient for you.Story: 9/10The story was great, and the overlapping character stories was quite interesting. However, the moments in which the stories overlapped were quite irritating when you had to fight the same boss in two different campaigns on Professional difficulty. Certain things should have only been done once, but due to the desire for a massive campaign, you are forced to play the same scenario multiple times with different characters.Sound: 10/10I can't recall any issues I had with sound. Sound was perfect, all characters voice-overs were very well done and the enemies sounded just as they should.Replayability: 8/10Aside from achievements or secondary modes, there is no real reason to play the campaigns more than once (or twice if you didn't play on Professional first). You can collect serpent emblems, though this is a fairly straight-forward process that does not require a great deal of time or effort. The fact that you have to replay specific parts multiple times with different characters greatly detracts from the replayability (at least in my opinion, I beat the game three times, once on Amateur, once on Professional, and once looking for Serpent Emblems, and replaying those specific character overlap parts really began to irritate me). The only reason I give replayability an 8/10 is due to the secondary modes which can be fun....for a while.Features: 9/10Once again you can collect serpent emblems and trade them in for "Action Figures". Mercenaries mode has also been implemeneted which is great. It can be quite fun for a while, though it does start to get boring. A new game mode call "Agent Hunt" is rather fun, though once again, you are thrown into parts of the campaign, parts which undoubtedly you have played before. You are able to play as an enemy type (J'avo, etc.) and try to take down actual players while they are playing through the campaign so long as they have Agent Hunt Mode enabled and have it set to Xbox Live.Package Features: 10/10By purchasing Resident Evil 6: Archives Edition you receive a code to download Resident Evil 4 HD, Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition Content. You also receive the Resident Evil 6 game disc and Resident Evil Degeneration on DVD. You get quite a great deal by purchasing the Archives Edition of Resident Evil 6.Overall: Resident Evil 6 Archives Edition- 9.5/10 "Amazing"

I have a very different perspective on RE6 because I'm not a die hard RE gamer (sorry hardcore RE ppl, im only hardcore with Metal Gear, Crysis, GT and COD). Hence, I only play RE using the co-op campaign mode with one of my mates who "is" a die hard RE gamer. Overall I wouldn't rate this game much better than RE5. I think the important thing about the newest versions is that they are still trying to form an identity to the newer style of the series. I think that the hard core RE gamers who've followed the series from day 1 shouldnt expect each new game to be perfect yet. From what I can see each game is trying new things and I think the developers are still in the process of deciding what styles and ideas to stick with.Theres no doubt that the game has good as well as bad points. The good points for me were the more action focused gameplay. I dont beleive that theres such a thing as "all action means no story". RE6 does have some depth but I feel that the action focused style keeps it relevant to the story. This game is very clumsy though, however as someone who isnt too critical about the series I find these moments pleasantly funny. I love the way you can melee zombies, its brilliant when you and your coop partner are kicking the crap out of a zombie, it's visually hilarious! I also like the fact that your only given just about enough ammo for each stage and that zombies will constantly respawn until the level is complete. This ensures that your not ever left with the easy task of clearing out an entire map of zombies and then simply completing the level. On the other hand, I dont like the response of the camera during movment (but you get used to it). I also don't like the fact that pretty much all the puzzles (i.e. thinking aspects) of the game seem to have gone. Personally, I think a mix of more puzzles, deeper story line and scarier zombies would have made this game almost perfect. My 'hardcore' RE mate who plays alongside me has similar views. He doesn't seem too complaisant about the fact that RE has changed since the first few games (hes accepted the change), but again he understands that each new RE isn't the final 'product'/'identity'. We both agree that the newer RE's are on the right track and are mabey one or two games away from forming a perfectly balanced game (hopefully). In conclusion, RE6 has good points and bad. If I was a hardcore RE fan then this new addition to the series would probably annoy me alot! If you're willing to play this game thinking of it as a totally new entity then its pretty enjoyable. For me, RE is the best multiplayer "storyline" coop game and RE6 keeps things current with the action aspects. The clumsy moments make me laugh like anything and the ridiculous hours of content the game has makes sure your left with plenty to do! I think the best way to sum up this game is "THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY".

There's been a lot of hype leading up to Resident Evil 6, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.This game does not disappoint, there's a lot of bang for your buck, with four stories told through interlinking campaigns. There are also extra modes; fan-favourite "The Mercenaries" and newbie "Agent Hunt", which allows you to join a player's campaign as the enemy.Like Resident Evil 5, the story can be played with online co-op, or single player with an AI partner, which for the most part is helpful. They will actually point you in the right direction if you get stuck, and are pretty handy in a fight. Each campaign is of considerable length, with about 7-10 hours of gameplay each, depending if you're into collecting all the extras. The good thing too, is the replay value. With the addition of Skill Sets, it's fun to play as each character several times over to experience different play styles and bonuses. Online really adds more fun to the game, too.Leon is paired with Helena, another government agent. The gameplay pays real homage to the old Resident Evils, keeping a suspenseful, yet exciting atmosphere. Helena is a fantastic character, with a past fitting of the rest of the roster. This segment of the game is slower paced and very dark, playing more on tension than action.Jake's campaign is another triumph, told in a completely different style to Leon's. With the addition of Sherry (from Leon and Claire's outing) as a playable character, and one of the best Resident Evil monsters since the Nemesis, this part of the game is so fun to play, and very well paced.Chris's campaign is more action orientated than the others, but still very well thought out. Joining Chris is Piers, a soldier in his squad, and a character that ends up dealing with a very broken down captain Redfield. Whilst this campaign is very enjoyable, the lack of ammo seems an odd development choice, as there needs to be a lot of shooting going down. Also, Chapter 4 loses the initial excitement and Neo Umbrella's soldiers can become a pain to deal with. Overall, it's saved by chapter 5.Ada has her own, solo campaign. This is based around her interactions with the protagonists throughout the rest of the story. Playing this is only possible after completing the others, and wraps up the story very nicely and explains any unanswered questions.Considering the size and content of the game, Resident Evil 6 looks amazing. There is a very slick and attractive quality to it all, oozing a cinematic level of design. There are a few lazy textures now and again, though barely noticeable. The music is also incredible, the best to date in the long running series.A great Resident Evil game from Capcom, Resi 6 surpasses all my expectations, and I will be playing for a very long time.

I always look forward to resident evil games, even though they aren't quite done in the same style as the first few. This is basicly a run around shooting zombies and monsters type game, but it mostly good fun and at least it's back to proper zombies and not just infected people. The close attacks are well done and quite good fun,so ideal if you're short on bullets, though you get tired after several attacks and have to wait a while to get your strength back. My games partner and i did enjoy most of this game, the characters are great, the graphics impressive enough and the gameplay is addictive enough. Also there is a lot of it to do,as once you've completed one story, you go on to another and after the 3,you open up ada's story and they all come together nicely,so there's plenty to do.Now the down points that stop me giving it 5 stars. You often have to rely on your partner to help open doors and stuff and if they take a while to get to you,it can be frustrating and you could be killed through no real fault of your own. Also some bosses are a real pain to kill, they keep coming back and sometimes it's hard to know what you're meant to be doing and if you're actually getting anywhere and you're never sure if you've actualy killed it as it keeps coming back larer on,sometimes i finished of a moster without really knowing how,so more button bashing than skill. Also, some saves are regular and others take ages to come up,just loads of checkpoints if you're lucky,oh yeah,if you die after a checkpoint it says saving,it isn't a proper save though which is misleading, but you soon get used to what is a proper save. One more thing that stood out as a bad thing, the way you are laying there injured and have to hope someone gets to you in time or you'll have to do some annoying stuff again. The action is mostly done by gun or close R1 button combat but occasionally, button prompts come up which might annoy some. All that said,it's an entertaining game and some are sure to love it,but for me,it was just too frustrating too many times to be considered a 5 star game, well worth getting at a good price though.

When i got this i was trying not to jump up and down giggling like a idiot. Putting it in a was then made a little wary of the whole thing... but that went away when i started the main campaign. Now i've only played Leon's so far on the game but did all three on the demo, not the same i know but still gave me an idea of what to expect. First things first, i dont know why i'm seeing people compare it to RE:4 around the web, its the same style of gameplay but thats it doesnt even feel the same as RE:4.This game is a massive improvement on Raccoon City, which seemed to bugger up the reputation of the series,i'll even go as far as saying its better then RE:5 as well.On the very first level your thrown into the deep end in a dark university campus which gives off the vibe you'd expect from a survival horror game filled with zombies, good stuff. The only real annoyance about this game that i have is the camera system, i spent a few minutes trying to get it the way i wanted it, inverted view controls are not your friend as you have two seperate control settings for running etc and for aiming and shooting. The inventory system is a little annoying but its not a big fuss as you really wont be paying attention all that much as you'll be doing a lot of shooting. The skill set is a little strange, you spend your time collecting points and you can only change and buy them at the end of each chapters, you cant change them mid way through a chapter if your finding it a little tricky.Several times your given a pressured feeling when you've got to hold off a zombie swarm while waiting for a door to unlock, but in my opinion it just adds to the fun.Graphics and Sound are very good on it and set the scene very well, your given a wide array of enviroments to fight through, and the option of getting help on sections from three people while online is just very useful if your doing it on a harder mode. But these sections are do-able on your own, just make sure you've got extra ammo. But all in all this is worth it. A good addition to any gamers collection

I've been playing the Resident evil titles since I was a kid. Had a couple of the early ones on Playstation, really enjoyed Resi 4 on PS3 still play Resi 5 for PS3. I have to say, after reading the coverage of Resi 6 leading up to its release, I was pretty excited about it. Then I saw the negative reviews it was receiving that were attacking the gameplay and the direction that Capcom has taken the series in. This deterred me from buying it for a while, to he honest, but after seeing the game in the Black Friday sale, I decided to go for it.I was a little bit disappointed with the lack of a decent instruction book but that's not crucial to the enjoyment of the game.Only a couple of chapters into Leon's campaign but my fiance and I have really been enjoying playing it split screen. The first few things that spring to mind are the graphics, which were impeccable and seemed to me like a big step up from RE5, and lightyears ahead of RE4!The first aid/healing system was kind of baffling until we got used to it in Chapter 2 and isn't exactly convenient when you need to put herbs in your case during a face-off in a cathedral.I liked how ammo isn't as easy to come by as in Resi 5 where you never seemed to run out, but this is a good thing because it encourages you to improve your accuracy and headshot count. The storyline so far is engaging and filled with suspense. Love the fact that even after being desensitised to violence and horror from being a gamer from a very young age, this game can still make me jump! The skill levelling system is very innovative and accessible, and I much preferred it to RE5's approach of selling butt-loads of treasure to upgrade weapons. Can't wait to play the other campaigns after seeing half of the first one. To sum up, I think Resident Evil 6 has stayed true to the franchise whilst taking it in a slightly different direction. Let's face it, the old format was getting a bit stale and the gameplay needed a bit of an upgrade. Change is good! I was pleasantly surprised even after reading droves of bad reviews.

Me and my brother just got this game yesterday as we are big fans of the Resident Evil series. Ultimately I was thinking that I would not be able to play the game with my brother as I found Resident Evil 5 very difficult in terms of controlling the characters and shooting. However the controls of Resident Evil 6 are much smoother and shooting is far less of a struggle than it was. I absolutely love it so far, the atmosphere, the storyline , the locations and the music. For me personally Resident Evil 6 is miles better than 5.This is finally a Resident Evil that we can play together and enjoy as much. Even my brother who loves Resident Evil 5 says that 6 is brilliant and way better. We enjoy playing as Leon again as well as he was one of our favourite characters and we both loved Resident Evil 4. One of the main reasons I also prefer this game is because I enjoy playing in more urban surroundings, it is a personal thing but I enjoy the darker atmosphere. Just from the first part of the game we were brought right in and right from there we knew it was going to be epic. The new pill system is brilliant and much easier to handle herbs, much more convenienent as well. The only issue I've found so far is sometimes in co-op mode if you are near your parnter and finding two seperate zombies you may automatically start attacking the zombie your partner is fighting. Other than that it is a brilliant game and I can't wait to play some more. In Resident Evil 5 I would always die and personally I missed the standard zombie fights,in this game for the first whole chapter I only died once and my brother who has always been brilliant at Resident Evil died 8 haha :)If you enjoyed Resident Evil 5 but found the controls a little annoying and prefer Resident Evil to be set in more urban surroundings then this is for you :D

This games has had a lot of bad reviews but in my own opinion this games great could not put it down . i am one for the COD games but im a much lover of Resident evil franchise, ive played most of them from 1 to 6 and my favourite was RE 1 and would love them to make a remake for the newer consoles. The game the only reason i didnt give it 5 stars as it goes away from the puzzle solving like the original RE . the game play is pretty straight forward straight forward . Loens mode is good but was let down with the ending you get loads of ammo and stuff to pick up but with chris its more shooting but ran out of ammo quicker which was frustrating when coming to a boss to kill and only having hardlyany bullets left but this is where it kinda goes away from the RE game play havnt played jakes so cant comment.what i loved . the bits when the camera angle goes like the old RE games3 campaigns basically 3 games in one so dont know why people are complaining about the price each campaign is about 4-6 hours so getting ur moneys worthstoryline is good but leons at the end was a declimaxdisliked- The non RE feel being on low ammo and being on your own and trying to surviveupgrades would rather it be like the other games when you just upgrade the weapons as in the game there not that much noticeablethe health tables after a while gets annoying making them but its good that ur just one click away from healingthe d pad how many times i selected the spray health thing instead of grenadeand does the pause actually work how many times i need to pause and it was still playing !!!!i do recommend this game 2 of my mates got it one is a skyrim and all that lover and he says he cant put it down. the other one loves itget it wont be disappointedps Bring back Resident Evil 1

I started playing RE when it first came out, so I have the same problem that a lot of people do when addressing the issue of the more recent games not being the "traditional" RE.After RE4 came out, branching out in it's own direction, I didn't really follow when the new games were released. I would see them in the store and just decide to play them. The thing that caught my eye on RE6 Archives was that it included Code Veronica, which was my favorite. After downloading it, I tried to play it, but was extremely disappointed with the HD. I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be great, but after playing Silent Hill 2 and 3 in HD, I was really expecting more. The game is broken into 3 campaigns, you can play them in order, or not, it won't be too hard to understand the story line. There's new characters, and they're really not that bad. The creators were able to develop the characters just enough so that by the time their campaign was done you aren't thinking, "Oh thank god, that's over with." That's a plus. Each campaign has a different style to it. When you play Chris', you feel more in a FPS that the game turned to in RE4/5. Leon's really does well as it has a more horror/survival aspect to it, as if the game is starting to go back to how it was originally. The third, Jake's campaign is a lot of action, and you use more melee, similar in some ways to Chris'. Your partners do help, you're not going to be running into a situation like Ashley in RE4.If you can accept that this is a different game than what the franchise originally started out as, then it's a super fun. Also, if you're playing single player, and you aren't interested in playing with anyone else, be sure to turn the setting to allow agent hunt and live off. This also allows you to pause.

Title says it all, this game isn't as good as Resident Evil's 4 & 5, but it isn't by any means a bad game. Capcom have gone balls out here and thrown everything but the kitchen sink at the wall in an attempt to please all fans and mix the playstyles of past to present RE's. Leon Kennedy is here for the RE4 style campaign, Chris Redfield is here for the military, RE5 style campaign, Ada Wong is here for the stealth and puzzle campaign, and new character Jake Muller ( AKA Jake Wesker) is here for the pursuit, Nemesis style campaign. Let's get the bad outta the way first, not all of it sticks. Vehicle sections, QTE's, and a cheap health and death system will make you scream at the screen and seriously what were Capcom thinking with the health system? It was perfect in 5, in this it's just a complicated mess. Breaking herbs into pills and putting them in a tablet case is NOT ideal when you're about to get munched by a monster! However... Resident Evil 6 can be a lot of fun. Yes it betrays it's roots but if you accept it as it is RE6 can be a rewarding and fun game. Each campaign has awesome moments and Leon's in particular is very atmospheric. The game looks and performs great, the voice actors are great, the gameplay is fun, the melee system is fun, and bonus modes like the mercenaries are some of the most fun iv had in twenty years of gaming. Upon release back in 2012 this game was savaged by critics and fans alike, but 4 years later and after the dust has settled, i think we can all grow up and admit that while RE6 is a bit of a weak entry for a series as iconic as Resident Evil, it is still a quality videogame. If you're a fan, give it a try. It's cheap as chips now and at 60 frames per second on ps4, it's great.

Ah, Resi 6. It seems to be the base of controversy recently. With many a fan waving their arms around and screaming 'It's not the same! It's automatically bad! No Resi has been good since number 1!' and at first I was inclined to agree with them. However come Saturday, picking the game up as the postman delivered it I was rather impressed.Ok. So it's NOT Resi 4. Lets get that out of the way. You have a choice of 4 Campaigns (3 unlocked from the start) each with different themes. Leon's is the most like classic Resi, having to survive on what you get, using everything around you to kill what you can. (There are some exceptionally fun parts of the chapters where you are holed up in rooms and having to survive against an onslaught.)Chris' seems to take a leaf out of modern shooting games as he takes control of a unit to take down the enemy/save hostages etc. Jake's is kind of a mix of the two. Focusing more on the thrilling part of the series. Ada's on the other hand is more about Puzzles. Each chapter will take around 1-2 hours to complete and each campaign (except Ada's) you have an ally to help you. Single player is decent enough but the game really shines when you have someone else to play with (and I really would suggest people try this option out)Unfortunately the game is riddled with Quick Time Events, usually causing a cheap death or two during the campaign and I had an issue with Saving at times too.Overall. Itself is a decent game. I found it to be a blast. It's not the usual Resident Evil game. But does that make it bad? Of course not.If you do wish for a classic Resident Evil game I would however suggest the great Revelations on the 3DS. Which just about everyone forgets about
