Fans of Professor Layton will have a good idea of what to expect....puzzles, cute animation and a dash of humour.I was amazed at the size of the adventure - so many places to explore! There is much more freedom in moving around - once you have started the game 'proper' you can choose which order to visit various 'lands' and return at will. There are plenty of old familiar characters to meet and loads of new ones too.As usual you get three mini games to play - a dressing up game which was just collecting items of clothing from various people (given after answering a puzzle) and then almost by trial and error designing outfits for people.....the other two games - a cute squirrel nut-rolling gameand a flower-planting game are much better - and require some real thought and skill. This story completes the second (and final?) Layton Trilogy - and it really does tie things up neatly....the identity of Descole is revealed (and is quite the shocker!)...and the strange and sinister group of Targent is also explained (be prepared for another shock!)...and one revelation about Targent (someone working for them ) had me gasping! You get a complex storyline...hundreds of puzzles (once the game is complete you get daily puzzles too!)....3 mini games...plus 2 collect-the-object games (one uses street-pass)...maybe not the cheapest game out there, but well worth the money in my opinion. All in all, a fitting end for the good Professor.....Although I am eagerly hoping to see Leyton v Ace Attorney next year perhaps?

I'm still lamenting the fact that Professor Layton has retired after this game, but with the number of math puzzles in this game I can see that it's becoming harder and harder to make 150 in-game puzzles plus the 365 daily puzzles we've all come to expect (which is why many puzzles aren't puzzles, but simply math problems). As with the other Layton games, the story isn't anything to write home about. But it's enjoyable enough, and I liked the whole traveling-around-the-world concept. I also really enjoyed looking for hidden objects and that if you pass by anyone who also played the game you receive a new challenge via Spotpass. What I didn't like about this game was the ending, specifically the relationship between Layton and the two antagonists, Descole and Bronev. But it ties in with the first game in the series quite nicely. All in all: if you like Professor Layton there's no reason not to buy this one. If you've never played a Layton game before you're better off starting with either Professor Layton and the Curious Village (the first game) or Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call (the fourth game but the first in this trilogy and chronologically the first).

Not gonna lie, I have barely touched the title yet. However the main reason of writing this review was to try and clear up some of the confusion surrounding the title before people rush out, buying it and then flooding the review section with negative reviews because they didn't ensure it works on their console. It will ONLY work on the 3DS, 3DS XL and the newly released 2DS consoles. Not your DS, DSi, DS Lite or DS XL. The older consoles have more or less been phased out now so it made sense for them to upgrade it. The same goes for Miracle Mask and the upcoming Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright title early next year. The 3DS console is much more powerful than the DS allowing much more content in the game and for you, more complex puzzles and features to the title. The title itself is similar to other Layton games in that a strong, heart tugging (this is essentially the last proper title in the series) narrative is entwined in a series of tricky, fun puzzles. This time the game has over 500 puzzles (around 150 in-game and the remainder are daily puzzles for you to test your mettle against every day.) fans of Layton's previous adventures will feel right at home.

As others have already stated, the latest - and last - game in the Professor Layton series is just as good, if not better than the games that came before it. I have played all the Layton games since the first one was released in the UK years ago, and I can honestly say that if you enjoy puzzle games in general, you'll enjoy this game. If you like a good storyline to go with your puzzles, then you definitely need to pick up this game. The graphics are sharp and clean, the music charming as always (like the other Layton games), the puzzles are sufficiently tough enough that even when you come across another puzzle similar to one you've solved before, it'll still tease the little grey cells the second (or third!)time around.I can't recommend this game enough; however, like others have said as well, if you've never played a single Layton game before, it's probably not a good idea to start with this one. Play them in chronological order of when they were released to get the most out of the main plot of this series.

This is a great game just like every other Professor Layton game. I love the puzzles I love the graphics I love the 3d effect, I love everything about it. The puzzles are clever and very hard and I absolutely love it how everything from all the other Professor Layton games on the 3ds and the ds all fits together at the very end. If you haven't played all the other Professor Layton games I would recommend playing them and in the original order: Curious Village, Pandora's Box, Lost Future, Spectres Flute, Miracle Mask and then Azran Legacy. My only criticism would the story in some places does not flow and some very unexpected things happen. All in all great game and recommend to anyone, child, parent or grandparent, brilliant game.

First to start on the negative, it seems to me that the puzzles are easier this time, but on the other hand they still found some original ones. Then on the positives. It looks fantastic, everything move, there are some things that "interact" with your touch. Actually this time the gameplay view (realtime 3D) looks better than the videos. The gameplay removes the annoying part of the previous 3DS game, so it's all good. Finally the scenario is very good, with interesting new team members (on the other hand there are less interesting NPCs than in some of the DS games), and an ambitious (but still very much "Layton") main story.

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy is absolutely amazing and does the whole series proud, and one of my favorites of the series. Full of tough puzzles that will have you thinking all day and a brilliant storyline. If you enjoyed the other Professor Layton games, you will definitely enjoy this one!BUT... If you haven't yet played a Professor Layton game, play them in the original order (Curious Village, Pandora's Box, Lost Future, Specter's Flute, Miracle Mask, Azran Legacy)because everything will make sense and you wont be totally confused at the end of this game. The whole series is fantastic though!

As this is the 3rd prequel game to Curious Village it explains a lot of things leading up to Curious Village like what hapens to Emmy and who the Professor really is.I think this game is equal best with Curious Village I really enjoyed playing this one because you can visit 9 different places and really interact with characters. The 2 mini games I liked best was the world times and the clothing designer though the first person who asks you to style them is the last to be styled and you think you have missed an item of clothing.

This professor Layton game did not disappoint. The puzzles were challenging but enjoyable, the graphics and locations throughout the game were stunning. The story made you want to find out what happened next. There are a couple of twists in the story which surprised me, something I wasn't expecting, but on the whole I would definitely recommend this game.I have all the Layton games now, pity that more are not going to be made, but I shall enjoy replaying them all.

As I have brought this for my husband for Christmas I cannot really comment on this particular game. However if it is anything like all the other games in this series it will be much appreciated! These games are for young or old and each one seems to have more and more puzzles within the storyline and with additional puzzles that you can pick up along the way, giving many hours of challenging fun. Clear and interesting graphics as well.

At least two 1 star reviews by people who bought it and tried to play on the wrong console. If you bought the game and don't have a 3DS you are an idiot. No fault but your own. Getting frustrated by your own stupidity and leaving a 1 star review makes you look childish and even more stupid.I am leaving a review of your stupidity for buying a game that you are not capable of playing. 5 Stars, totally stupid.

I freely admit that I am a HUGE fan of the Professor Layton games - and have all of them for my 3DS. I loved this one and have completed the main adventure. This has to be one of my favourite Professor Layton games - but I usually think that as each one comes out - I thoroughly enjoyed playing it and would heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys puzzle games :)

The minute I saw this I pre-ordered it, the fourth and last in the Professor Layton series these games just get better and better. Some puzzles I liked better than others and no doubt you will to, with the best being downloading a new game each day (only if your online). A BIG downside for me was having to click through all the story but this still gets 5 stars.

Great finally to the seires. If your gonna play I would recommend playing them in order as you get the best out of them that way. This is my personal favourite with the best puzzles, best soundtrack and a brilliant ending. The individual story is not the best from all the Layton games but because of its significance in the seires as a whole it is the best.

I have waited for this game since FOREVER, and I finally got it! Have played the first trilogy, watched the movie, and the proceeded to play the rest of the first two games of the second trilogy. Best game series ever! The animation is fantastic and the plot is great! I am also waiting for my copy of "Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney"!
