Kindly supplied to me via the Amazon Vine Programme, the City Action Fire Brigade Chief's Car with Lights and Sound is an updated version of a previous Playmobil set that we bought for my son a couple of years ago. It also represents a substantial improvement on that older set.The most obvious change is the addition of both lights and sound effects, where the older version had neither. The lights I like, but as a parent I'm less keen on Playmobil decision to add sounds to this and many other previously silent sets. There is nothing more irritating than constant electronic chirping; especially early in the morning. However, our children as you would expect love the sound effects,so I guess your opinion of this new feature will depend greatly on your age.The other changes are more welcome. Whereas the older set had a detachable roof to allow you to get figures and equipment in and out, this latest version has both a hinged rear door, a detachable front section and a large 'sunroof'. This combination makes it far easier to access the inside of the car and most importantly makes it something children can do without help. On the old model reattaching the roof required a degree of precision that was beyond many smaller children and necessitating the assistance of an adult. Whilst reattaching the roof on the new version is still a little tricky for smaller hands, its easier than it was and there are other options for getting inside the car that don't need a parent to help with.This car is also accompanied by far more extra 'equipment' than its predecessor, which if memory serves came with a fire extinguisher and that was about it. Again parents may have mixed views about this, as these smaller items can and do go missing very easily, only to turn up underfoot at inconvenient moments. For children however, the extra items will expand the play potential of this set.As with all Playmobil the set is well constructed out of sturdy materials. Our previous Fire Chief Car is still around and being played with after two years, despite missing its roof lights and having been on the receiving end of some pretty rough treatment. In terms of longevity Playmobil is up there with LEGO.Also be warned that some initial construction is required before children can begin playing with the set. Older children should be able to handle this themselves, but smaller ones will need help as it involves the addition of fiddly parts like stickers. This is pretty much par for the course with Playmobil and as a smaller set the time required to put it together isn't that great. However, its not something that can be played with straight out of the box.Once put together however, it offers plenty of potential for imaginative play. If the popularity of its predecessor with my children, currently aged 3 and 5, is any guide this new set will still be irritating me with its warbling siren in several years time.

I ordered this for a boy of five, who's a big fan of toy cars, whether it be Transformers or builder's trucks. He doesn’t have a lot of other Playmobil to go with it, though he does have a rescue helicopter that complements this fire brigade car. I should warn potential purchasers that some minor assembly is needed. If your children are very impatient, it may be worth assembling it before giving it to them. It also needs AAA batteries, which aren’t supplied, but thankfully I already had some lying around.He seemed to enjoy playing with it, which I suppose is the main thing. It will probably get forgotten about a bit when the next new toy comes along,but with a recommended age range of 5-10 years and what seems a fairly durable construction, hopefully this will be something that he can come back to from time to time. (The recommended age range did strike me as on the high side, but not having much experience with older children I may be wrong.) I thought it could be rather noisy, but he’s no noisier playing with this than with many other toys anyway.

This Playmobil Fire Chief's car is what I would call a medium-sized set from Playmobil, although it only includes one figure.The car comes with some accessories that go in the boot and those blue lights on the top actually work IF you remember to buy one AAA size battery to go with it.As other reviewers have pointed out the toy does require some assembly - so be prepared to do that straight away if you're giving this to an impatient child (admittedly I quite enjoy building this sort of thing, so no problem there for me!)Ideal as an "extra" type present for parents or for those, like me, with presents to buy for young nephews.Great fun and a sure-fire hit for any junior petrolheads out there.

This is another great, high quality Playmobil car. That we now got as part of our Playmobil fireman & fire truck collection. Offer lots of play value for an agreeable price.It's not too big, but looks quite nice and can hold 2 figures.The lights are obviously a big plus for the kids.Like with most Playmobil playsets its quite sturdy - you'll have to make quite an effort to break it.It seems to have an option to built-in an RC motor and steering device, which unlike with other Playmobil cars we haven't done.

Good old Playmobil, can't go wrong. We had the stuck rear wheels problem, my 5 year old was upset saying he'd never order a parcel again and just buy from the shops! You need to make sure the tyres are pushed through at the back ( see photos) and it will work fine. Only a couple of stickers to put on. Comes with character and accessories as shown which is enough to play with. Flashing lights and siren with 2 options of siren sound.

Really impressed with this, especially for the price (£19.99)Usual Playmobil decent quality, and the lights and sounds really add to it, my 4 year old daughter loves this and it's now a favourite toy. Easy to assemble although I always assemble Playmobil prior to wrapping as a present to avoid grumpy, frustrated kids!

Great little car with sound and lights , only problem we had was the wheels. Several reviews have said their wheels are getting stuck. It's because you have to force the wheel through the small hole first which is really difficult (for a 38y old never mind my 4 year old) but it fixes the problem!

My son is fire engine obsessed so I thought that this car would be a bit different. He loves it, as I knew he would. It joins along with his 6 fire engines going out to rescue people. It helps his imagination and he loves it. Not 5* simply because of the price of Playmobil.

This playmobil fire car comes with one fire chief fireman and a number of accessories the Blue lights Light up and there is a choice of two sirens to choose from this will provide any budding Playmobil fan hours of fun I would I highly recommend this Playmobil fire car ?

This Fire Chief car is brilliant. The noises and lights really get the little ones attention as he is mad about fire engines and police cars. The whole set is easy to put together and it's very sturdy. The car runs smoothly along most floor types when pushed. Wonderful.

This Fire Chief's car is great fun for little ones. Part of a set of other Playmobil "nee-naws" it's been a huge success. This one did a bit of adjustment to fit the light unit into top of car. But, in general, this Playmobil item is good value for money.

I love playmobil toys, and so do my kids, always a hit for imaginative play, however as always the case with playmobil several unnecessarily small parts, but I just remove these. The sounds are a definite bonus!

came very fast however the back wheels on this dont spin right they feel to tight when you turn them, however this doesnt bother my little boy he really enjoys this toy thankyou

Bought this for our grandson for Xmas along with the fire engine 4823 he was absolutely thrilled with it loves fireman sam and pretends to be him when playing with them.
