There is no doubt this will a hugely popular and enjoyable toy for 4 -10 year old boys or girls, aspiring Drs, and Nurses. It is a wonderful set up. The children's hospital with its wards and reception is easy to access from the front, and the back. The lift is simple but impressive. I can see that adding extra bits later like an ambulance, helicopter etc will be even more exciting. Hours of fun for my grandchildren assured; as with all Playmobil, exasperating as tidying the hundred of tiny bits pre vacuuming is. For extra realism of course you could have Junior doctors protesting outside the doors, holding placards and a queue of extra Playmobil people snaking out of the door of A&E,Pirates perhaps, injured during their battles! My concerns, though, are:So many choking hazards, so think carefully about buying this for a family that includes a smaller child who may try to join in playing. It took me, a reasonably intelligent 65 year old, over three hours to construct, in peace and quiet, undisturbed. There is no way that a child young enough to want to play with this toy hospital could possibly make it. It is such an awkward process to press in properly the dozens of red and yellow 'joining' poppers. There are 15 bags of components, none packed with any reliable logic, just loads of see through packs to cut open and search through, as if doing a giant, complex, fiendish jigsaw. I muttered to myself throughout the process. Try to keep the box intake, as the pictures on it are a great help towards the end, as I assembled the multifarious furnishings etc. I slid a knife down the sides of the box before breaking open the perforated tab. This allowed the box to stay in good shape. Once made you can put the toy back into it, standing up anyway. It keeps all the bits together and the pictures on the box can then inspire their play. The big Playmobil boxes represent a triumph for the company, packaging, presentation on the shelves, rating well over consideration for the customer; all they care about is how to create an appealing, tidily shaped box, easy to transport. Make no mistake, this is a proper project to make up, a real challenge for an adult, so I can't bear to think of anyone trying to assemble it all with an anxious, over excited, impatient child hovering. Please consider putting it all together well before 'gifting' to save the frustration that would otherwise surely follow. I got 'snappy' and I was on my own. Parents on the receiving end too, might get rather cross at having to sort it out. Especially if, as I did, they fail to realise that the top floor over hangs the ground floor. Luckily you can undo it and start again, with some pulling apart. And, I couldn't make the defibrillator to save my life! Well I did in the end, by using the bits that were left over...There were no missing parts as I often imagined, in fact I was left with a few pieces unused. The small yellow Playmobil construction tool requires some strength to use, I was often stabbing away with it dangerously near my wrists, I might have ended up in hospital myself! All done now, though, and I could make another in half the time I expect.

This is a brilliant toy for children and has gone down a treat. As at least one other person has pointed out this does take a while to put together as you literally have to build the hospital, but the pieces are solid and there is an instruction manual to help you. Obviously with something like this that is quite large I suppose there are only two options, to make it like this, or to have it fully built, but with the latter it would need a much bigger box and would be a pain to pick up in a shop or for posting. As well as building the hospital you also have to put other things together, such as the wheels on the bed, etc. This in itself can be a bit of fun as your child or children and partner can also get involved. You get a whole plethora of things here, such as surgical instruments, including drip lines, cast and so on, as well as all the little bits and pieces that are used such as scissors, scalpel and thermometer and so on. My favourite piece I will admit is the defibrillator, as I shout out ‘Clear!’ push the paddles down and flip the doll. I’m sure you all know how it goes; after all it appears on all the hospital dramas. With a lift on the outside of the building you can transport patients and the bed between floors, and this has a great entrance to the building with a couple of light posts (not workable) and stairs with a ramp. There are stickers to place throughout the building as well as on the equipment, so that you can have displays. In all this is fun and vastly enjoyable, although it does take a little while to construct, but I think that is part of the fun (rather like building a Lego set), and has more than enough to keep any child busy playing for ages. I know that you can buy other hospital rooms which I will have to take a proper look at, but at the moment we are considering the helipad that is shown in the booklet, to add that little bit of extra awesomeness. Please remember with something like this to be careful if you have babies or smaller children than the age range, as you do not want them swallowing the instruments here. This should give years of fun, and with anything like this is ideal to hand down to younger children as your ones grow up.

The Playmobil 6657 City Life Furnished Children's Hospital is marketed as being suitable for ages 4-10 and comes complete with 5 Playmobil figures and over 50 accessories, bits and bobs in 15 different plastic bags! Quite simply Playmobil have thought of, and included, everything necessary for a child to have a well-equipped play hospital from the reception area with lift to the operating theatre with adjustable operating table and light to the baby nursery and children’s room – if only the NHS was as well equipped!! My visiting toddlers, one of whom has spent quite a few nights in hospital to date and loves playing doctors, have thoroughly enjoyed this playset and go straight to it on every visit and have many hours of imaginative play and fun. While all of that is extremely positive there is a not so fun part as I alluded to in the 15 plastic bags of parts – the adults job to put it all together first! This turned out to be a fairly lengthy process although the instructions are good and the pieces are well made. I would suggest this part of the “fun” be done before the child(ren) arrives to play although the end result is well worth the effort. I would also caution that there are some very small pieces e.g. bandages, stethoscope etc which could be a choking hazard so care should be taken if there are any younger children in the vicinity – not to mention after the play when the vacuuming is being done!In conclusion, I consider this to be an excellent playset from Playmobil with exceptional attention to detail and very good quality construction and pieces that should provide many happy hour’s play. I would also think it could help parents set at ease the minds of any little ones who may be unfortunate enough to have to visit a hospital either as an inpatient or an outpatient/visitor as anything they are likely to experience has been demystified to a large extent by the range of rooms and tools available in this play hospital. 5*

My grandchildren love to play with 'little things' (in other words tiny toys which fit together) and I have already got the Playmobile Lifeboat Station for my 5 year old grandson which he loves, although of course he needed help to put it together. It's always a good idea to keep toys at home for when they come to visit, so this children's hospital will stay here, in its box, to save it getting mixed up with all the other little things that they play with.I haven't tried to assemble this yet but I'm looking forward to doing it, and I'm looking forward even more to seeing their little faces light up when they see it and can play with it.There are 291 pieces in the set; the building itself witha lift which goes up and down at the side and has rooms which can be accessed from the front or back; hospital furniture including beds, sinks, operating table, lamps, chairs, scales, cabinets, and all sorts; the characters themselves, doctors, nurses and of course the children; then the very tiny objects including stethoscope, bandages, operating tools, thermometers, and so on. There is so much here to fire the imagination and provide hours of fun as the children become doctors, nurses, visitors or anything else which takes their fancy. The age range stated on the box is 4 to 10 years so it's probably not a good idea to get this set out when there are babies and toddlers around as the small pieces could become a choking hazard. But for older children it's a wonderful, imaginative and creative toy.

My 7 year old daughter has rediscovered her love of Playmobil since receiving this hospital for Christmas - she simply cannot get enough of it! Her 3 year old brother has been rushing in to her room desperate to join in too, though needs close supervision due to super fiddly tiny pieces. I've loved playing with it too - the great range of medical equipment/accessories makes imaginative play really fun and easy. Today we had a fun play session involving a daddy missing the birth of his son because he was having a really long poo and then he got attacked on the toilet by a rogue Sylvanian Families Dalmatian; a pirate then broke into the hospital, dressed up as a doctor and kidnapped the poor baby.Currently he and baby are hiding out in a nearby princess castle, along with the Dalmatian, who ran off after trying to poison all the children in the hospital. I genuinely can't wait to play with this again tomorrow to see what happens next!I really don't understand the reviews complaining about this being particularly tricky to assemble - there's quite a few stages, yes, including some small fiddly pieces, but my seven year old constructed it herself in 2-3 hours, split over two mornings, and for her this was absolutely part of the fun - she got very cross when her dad tried to help! If a seven year old child can manage it on her own, it really shouldn't be too taxing for adults...

Playmobil has been around for more years than I can remember and they are a good competitor to Lego. Sadly, they never seemed to have the same publicity, which is a shame as the sets they produce have as much imagination inspiring, educational and fun factors as Lego, but at a more competitive price. This is a big set of pieces and if for the younger end of the age range, it will need some adult intervention in setting it up and applying decals. Once set up you just leave your kids to get on with it. There are plenty of things to do and injuries to deal with. The lift is a great addition and my children love moving patients around the hospital. There are lots of things that they don't know what they are for,so I have been having to explain. Fortunately my wife was on hand to explain that a defibrillator is not a floor polisher. They love this so much that I am going to get them an ambulance set to go with it.Be warned that there are some very small parts and need to be kept away from younger children, else you may have to visit a real hospital to have bits removed from noses and ears.

My 5 year old daughter wanted this for her birthday. Its had more play than any other toy I've ever bought her. Its perfect for her age group and gets her 8 year old cousin regularly involved too. The details are wonderful. The lift is sturdy and gets wrenched up and down without breaking. Its educational value is endless - I've overheard the kids talking about intestine problems, heart surgery, fatal fallings from windows, broken this and that, someone got decapitated by the ambulance when a baby was being born inside - its always very busy and lots of terribly difficult problems get solved! My daughter sometimes uses it as a house, a hotel and a department store too.Its a very versatile and fun toy which gets spontaneously played with a lot. I'm getting some extras for christmas to enhance the fun we've already had....

There is, be warned, a substantial amount of putting together required to assemble this kit, and for all the robustness and good quality of fabrication, the same does not extend to the instructions manual, which is somewhat unhelpful. Allow a couple of hours, however, and what you're left with is a dolls house like hospital play set with bags of appeal for both adults and children, and some humour too. This is a free-form set with many small parts, which therefore does lead to a degree of playroom chaos, and which does require some degree of both imaginative play and adult oversight, but neither is a bad thing. In addition, the modular design allows for this to be combined with expansion sets to bike bigger and better hospital buildings. All in all, another great toy.

It took me ages to put this together. It’s not that the instructions are difficult to follow, in fact they’re really good, the whole business is just so fiddly. There’s also no apparent rationale to how all the tiny parts have been packaged. You end up with all the internal plastic bags open at once. This maximises the chance of little bits getting lost and means that it takes ages to find the constituents for each relatively small component. It looks fantastic now it’s built, apart from the fact that one tiny, transparent tube is missing. My daughter won’t notice that one of her resuscitation machines is incomplete, but I find it frustrating!Having said all this,I’m sure it will give pleasure for years to come.

Part of the fun of Playmobil is the assembly. This was my children's first steps towards lego. This is a very large and complex set and it is great fun to build together, but it is not something that small children will be able to do alone. Firstly because of the complexity and secondly because of the size of the small parts. This is a problem if you have children under 3 as there are many parts that they could swallow. The "cuffs" are a particular case.Apart from that small consideration this is a wonderful that will give them hours of fun imagining and playing. There are so many different components and ways to interact. It keeps them busy for hours.

Wow. The attention to detail is staggering in this Childrens hospital set. The surgical theatre is excellent with its defib, surgical light etc. There are an enormous amount of small pieces which can be easily lost so some care is needed and the construction is pretty full on though easy to follow without too much difficulty. It is nicely designed and has a nice open aspect; all the various hospital rooms are well laid out and a lot of thought has obviously gone into this. It may not be appreciated fully by children at the younger end of the spectrum but it's agreat present, I'd say for six years and up.

Awesome gift for my 3 year olds birthday (Ok so it says 5+ on the box...) She is now treating everybody and their dog, and the dogs best mate for the "nasty bug".We got the ambulance too and she is loving role playing playing doctors and making everybody better. The pieces are small but well made. It largely holds together (OK yes she is 3 and destroys most things). In terms of least durable parts... I'd say the gateposts on the front door get knocked off very easily, and some of the bits are very small (ive only found them once ive stood on them "in" the carpet)

I didn't realise how large this was until I saw the box - and be prepared, it'll take a bit of effort to construct it!- Playmobil remains a great alternative to Lego- Same level of high quality- Lots of detail in this set (not sure how many children will understand an operating theatre, but anyway!)- Does take effort to assemble - required my son's grandfather to get involved!- Will keep children busy for hoursHighly recommended, lots of fun (and also serves as a good "base model" upon which you can add in other Playmobil items (e.g. ambulance).

We got this for our four year old daughter's birthday. She loves it! However a word of warning....it takes a good few hours to put together. The pieces aren't grouped in any way and the Instructions don't prompt you at best times to put stickers on. The stickers are very sticky and once on difficult to fix -so if you are a perfectionist beware. It doesn't account for all pieces either so at the end we were depending on the pictures on the box to complete the hospital. Great gift and well designed but assembly is not for the faint hearted

27.12.2018

Got this for our granddaughter this Christmas and she loves it. However it takes some putting together: 2 granddads 4 hours. My advice is build it before giving as a present. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and the colours in the plan match the colours of the pieces: but the pieces are in different bags and there seems to be no logic as to which piece goes in which bag. Would recommend especally if a: you have got time and piece and quiet to build it or b: you are not getting involved in the construction.
