I bought this game with some uncertainty - bright colours, swashbuckling pictures on the cover, sail the seas and find treasure chests ... not my usual type of game. I usually prefer the slightly darker or more sophistocated role play games, but you have to be up for something new now and again eh?The game has two elements - Firstly, travel on the open seas, fighting other ships, upgrading your own ship, buying extra weapons, cannons and repair stocks. Secondly, exploration of the many and varied islands, collecting treasure, completing quests and fighting the inevitable baddies! You may find the game slow to pick up, in terms of its ability to entertain. You will find yourself wondering what the item is that you have just picked up, and to this end the manual is not particularly helpful either. However, an hour or two into the game and you will have much of the initial confusion straightened out. I recommend that you play a few sea battles before starting the game in order to familiarise yourself with the control of the sailing portion of the game.Overall, very enjoyable and quite addictive.

I bought this game because pirates are cool. After the travesty that was the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' game I was hoping for something a bit more piratey and I got it.It throws in all the classic pirate clichés mixing real and fantasy pirate life. You follow quests and hunt for hidden treasure on land, liberate town forts and sink enemy ships on sea.The only problem I had with this game was that it was sometimes difficult to remember where you hadn't been in the endless similar looking landscapes. An annoying feature of games of this genre. However all other aspects of the game made up for that.

I quite simply love this game, and so do my kids. It's good to look at, the colour is delicious, the sound is great, the game exciting & having challenge without being impossibly difficult. Best bits? Attacking crabs and hearing a fab "crunch", blasting and ramming other boats with my ship, Kat saying "aaarrrr, grog!" in a delightful piratey way, the "thwack" as I expertly despatch skeletons/baddies/monsters/ghosties etc. This game has such an air of innocence about it which is refreshing. It's neither gory or scary, but that's perhaps its biggest asset. One of my fave games.

It's different and a great surprise.Mixing sea battles with the most basic vessels to huge 3 masted multi-gunned ship to normal slash, attack and defend action of Kat (the lovely female pirate) when you land of shore it provides great fun.Great playability and some thing new to be added to your arsenal both for the ship and when on sure as the game goes on.Got this cheap for a tenner and it beats the new releases over £ 35.Cheats lets Kat try on different types of clothes too!!You wont be disappointed.
