Wow, what a product!! I have spent an ungodly amount on Phillips hue products and now have my four bedroom house fully upgraded to smart lighting. I have 45 bulbs and 16 accessories set up and the results are incredible; if you are even the slightest bit tempted to start upgrading your lighting then just do it!!The setup I have gone for is a fully automated lighting system in every single room which is easily achieved with the motion sensors. The additional formulas Phillips produce via hue labs in the app have made my system flawless. I’m going to list my set up as I wasn’t sure what I needed when I started!Downstairs Bathrooms - Simply purchase the plain white bulbs to keep the costs down and a motion sensor per bathroom. You can set the lights to turn on when you walk in and automatically turn of a minute after you’ve left. Ideal for a room you tend to dart in and out off. The plain white bulbs are so cheap now and they give off very very good quality light.Bedrooms - All of my bedrooms feature a 2m LightStrip behind the headboard which emits the most incredible ambient glow around the headboard and out from underneath the bed. I have these on a motion sensor to again turn on and off as I enter and exit the room. At nighttime they automatically turn on to a very dim nightlight that turns off after one minute; that doesn’t wake my partner so no more fumbling with a phone torch. The sensor is angled away from the bed so it doesn’t turn on when tossing and turning or other things.... In frequently used bedrooms I also have Lightstrips behind the dressing tables and the odd lamp, the ambiance is mesmerising and the options for scenes mind boggling. I have also set Alexa to dim my bedroom lights to magenta, play some smooth tunes all under the command “sexy time”. The main bedroom lights simply feature the white Phillips hue bulb, you don’t need the coloured ones in you main light they just don’t give off a very good effect compared to more ambient lighting such as lamps.Kitchen - I have a LightStrip with 6 extensions giving all of my cupboards top and bottom under counter lighting. This is bright enough to be used as the sole lighting for the room most of the time and really gives the kitchen a modern edge! I also have two colour GU10 bulbs under the cooker hood and three colour screw bulbs in my main lights. As with the other rooms everything comes on and off automatically with a motion sensor. This is my favourite room to play with scenes! You can purchase an aftermarket 3m extension cable for the strip lights which is vital to place them under the various counters and cupboards.Landing and En-Suites - The upstairs bathrooms and landing lights I have the white dimmer bulbs installed along with the motion sensors. The main reason for this is so that at nighttime the bathroom and landing lights can mirror the soft nightlight that comes on in my bedroom so that the whole house doesn’t wake up! We all have different schedules at home so this is incredibly useful. I also have a couple of rice paper lamps; cheap ikea Holmo lamps with colour hue bulbs installed. These help continue the ambiance throughout the house and give off a lovely softly diffused light.Living Room - This is where I’ve gone all out! I have a light strip behind the TV providing the back lighting. I also have a Light strip behind my drinks cabinet and the bottles also help diffuse the light further and the effect is breathtaking!! I also have 3 rice paper lamps around the room and everything, whilst put together using hue sync to watch a film is amazing! Such an immersive experience. I actually save money, my existing light fittings in the living room consist of 16 light bulbs and now they never need to be used.Office - The office is simpler; one light strip behind each desk and a Phillips colour hue bulb in the main light fitting. I also have one white ambiance bulb in my desk lamp and setting this all to the scene “concentrate” really helps you crack out the desk work.Older & non technical people - Of-course everyone isn’t as tech friendly as myself and it would be a nightmare having to use my phone to alter every light as and when! The motion sensors automate everything but I also have installed 4 “kill switches” around the house. These are the Phillips hue dimmers and the benefit of having these is so that my elderly father can easily turn the lights of without waiting for the motion sensors time delay to kick in. It also gives him the reassurance that he can control the lighting at will.Chandeliers - It would be crazy to install 60 hue bulbs to fill my chandeliers.... Instead as mentioned before I have placed rice paper lamps and Lightstrips in these rooms and it is more then ample and more energy efficient!Any questions about this system please ask I am happy to help. The system is almost instantaneous and has worked flawlessly. The only issue I have had with all the products I have is a light strip power supply plug failing but Phillips are picking this up to replace it, no hassle at all.

I love these so much! You need the hub, but it's super easy to set up the hub and then add lights from there. And the Amazon Echo integration makes them even better! The Hue app allows you to set up all your basic commands and is very easy to use. If you want to get fancy, IFTTT and Yonomi add more complex commands. You're really only limited by your imagination. We have motion sensors that trigger the hall lights and the bathroom lights. The rest of the rooms in the house are voice/app commands. When I want to take a relaxing bubble bath, it's just a quick voice command to dim the light, change the colour (pink or blue are my faves), and even put on some chill tunes (via a Yonomi routine). On Christmas morning, I have a Yonomi routine set up to play Christmas music & flash the light alternating red & green. If you're working toward a "smart house", these are practically essential! Because they're so easy to set up and work so well, they're a great introduction to home automation. These were the first things we got after getting an Amazon Echo. They allowed me to dip my toes into home automation without feeling intimidated. After getting the basics down, I've moved into more and more complex things. But this is a great starting point!

I don't want to replace all my existing lights just the main rooms me and my family spend most of our time in (living room, bedroom, study room). PLEASE FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER FOR INSTALLATION and you will be up and running in minutes FACT. so many videos out there to help you also. For Security you can't beat this system, you do have to pay for the (Hue Pro) app than the possibility are endless, just view the videos that are out there, once you have programmed the lights you won't need your mobile phone or iPad for the program to function, I was in Spain recently and I was controlling my lights from there I could see what was on and what wasn't and I can control everything from spainand just to make sure I ask my next door neighbour to see whether everything was working and it was fine.

I have been slowly converting all our lights, indoor and outdoor to Philips Hue, recently purchased lots of patio Lilly Lights, outdoor strip lights and have mainly white or warm white indoors. This was the first colour bulb I have bought for indoor use. Installation took all of 60 seconds, then I opened my app and had a quick fiddle.I bought this as we have recently decorated our kids bedroom so wanted something a little funky for them. It works a treat, my only criticism would be the white, is bright enough to use it as a single bulb, however when you start messing with the colours, it creates a great ambience but not practical as a main bulb.Fortunately we have some strip lighting in theirroom as well as a bedside lamp so I think for the position it will do the job just fine.

We have Hue lights throughout our apartment and it makes a massive difference to changing the mood. We can have a party time vibe or a relaxing and many things in between. The best part is being able to turn the lights on and off remotely or on a timer and have the lights dimmed really low. This was great for when hubby was coming in late as he could still have the lights on low and turn them off without disturbing me. We have integrated our Hue lights with mobile phone Hue apps, home automation using Amazon Dot, Homey and for more complex things Yonomi. These seems expensive as an initial outlay but we have had them in our apartment for over three years and we expect them to last for many more years yet. They are inexpensive to run as they are LED lights.

Bought this product on prime day 2017, meaning I got it at a heavy discount at the price of £22.I have used it to replace the main light bulb in my bedroom, it produces great colours and I had no issues integrating it with my current hue setup. My only complaint is that it could be a tad brighter, but I think it's meant for use in lamps rather than being a main singular light source for a room, but if you are buying this product it's more than likely you will have numerous hue lights in a room so it shouldn't be an issue. For its standard retail price I believe that it is way to expensive, but I think the price I paid of around £20-30 is a good price to justify making this addition your hue setup.Overall very pleased with this purchase.

Love my hue lights. I've completely gone all out and done my whole house with either gu10 colour bulbs, led lightstrips, b22/e27 colour and ambient white bulbs. All work seamlessly and add great flexibility in mood setting etc. Paired with motion sensors and dimmer switches the system works very well. The bulbs are bright and offer huge range of colours, no flickering or any issue of that kind. Very responsive and the app works well.I also have alexa and and iPhone/iPad and it works well with both alexa and SiriOnly downside is I have so many hue bulbs, switches and sensors that my hue bridge is full and I can't add any more hue devices

Hue are the bests smart bulbs you can buy at the moment, but they are expensive especially the colour ones. But ive had them for 5 years and none of them have died. You can set them to come on like at set times with set brightness and colours. They will work with other smart home device for example you can set them to flash red when your smart smoke alarms go off.If you download the hue app and an app called ifttt you can program them to work with long list of smart devices.ProsWork with smart devices using iftttHas apple homekitThey have coloured bulbsConsThe base needs wired internet no wifi

I purchased this on prime day for my kids room. They love the coloured Phillips lights already that we have as night lights for their room so this was the next obvious step. The kids love the different colours for going to sleep to (usually red) and the Hue app mimics day light for waking them up gently in the morning. Since adding this light the kids are more refreshed in the morning and do wake up in a batter mood. Great product and would recommend for anyone whether it be for making a room interesting with different colours or for helping from a health POV when waking up in the morning.

These are great Smart bulbs but the cost of them (currently £49 per bulb) is prohibitive to using them throughout the home. They work so much better than other smart bulb I have tried. The whole Philips Hue range is great quality, but it does come at a price. There integrate well with the iOS HomeKit on my iPhone and iPad, as well as Amazon Alexa. However, he Philips Hue app is quite basic and needs much more development by their tech team. There are other third party apps for Hue lights that allow more functionality. All-in-all these are quality lights but they do leave you wallet lite.

Philips hue lights are amazing especially these colour ones, I have the original starter kit plus a light strip and this bulb installed in my living room. All the walls in the room are white so the colour pallet you select via the hue app is very vibrant on the walls. The quality of these units is outstanding my only gripe is the price rounding up to £50 per bulb has made me only fit out my living room with the colour bulbs. Other rooms in my home have regular Philips hue white lights running. This is a fantastic product but I think for many people the price is a turn off.

The only bad thing about these lights is the price -they are expensive. However, they are incredibly easy to set up (hub required) and add another level to any room they are installed in due to the colour options available. As well as offering coloured light for ambience, they can be set to "cold" white and "warm" whites, allowing you to either concentrate or relax. They are compatible with Amazon's Alexa (via echo, echo dot etc) so you can turn individual lights or groups of lights on or of with simple commands. You can even set colours with your voice.

Philips hue are a range of excellent if very expensive smart lighting. This like the rest of the product line is easy to set up and control via the philips hue app, amazon alexa etc you can create many colour scenes with this style of light; selecting various colours along with the brightness of the bulb, it can also be set up to interact with your music/gaming system to really enhance your enjoyment/entertainment. IMHO whilst it can work directly with a amazon echo plus I think it's better combined with a philips hue hub.

27.11.2019

Hue colour bulbs are great for creating the perfect ambiance. Yes there are cheaper alternatives but you’re getting a quality product with excellent performance and app control. If you’re going down the smart lighting route they should be a serious consideration.Pros;Quality manufacturingExcellent lighting effects and coloursUser friendly appVarious methods of control including Alexa, Siri, hue app, etc...Optional extras such as motion detector, Wall mountable dimmer & switch.Cons;CostHub required

As for my review of the ES version - this was also on offer. It integrates well with Apple Homekit (as well as the Hue app as you might expect.). Steeing colours with Alexa his rather hit and miss, although it will select preset scenes fairly well.It is a surprisingly good bedside light (as is the white ambience) as the Hue bridge can be set to turn it on at a preset time in the morning, fading it up automatically with a colour similar to sunlight - great for dark winter mornings!
