I am replacing all of the halogen bulbs in my house with LEDs including one G4 bulb in my kitchen. Originally I just bought a standard G4 LED but it blew within minutes. After a bit of reading I tried one described as "Halogen replacement AC/DC LED", but this fared no better. After a bit more reading I tried this one which I believe has a bit of extra circuitry to allow it to run on the existing halogen 12V transformer (I guess this is why it is a bit bulkier than others), and it has been going several days with no issues to I'm ready to call this one a success!

good bright lights, less focussed downwards than standard filament capsules and a bit larger too, so they protrude from the bottom of my lights. But look nice enough and work well. Importantly the claimed brightness seems well justified (in fact i've just noticed i have the 10W equivalents which have replaced 20W bulbs and they seem just about as bright as the old ones )to me about right. Saves a lot of electricity, which is why i got them

And the best thing is you can use your existing halogen transformer. I have ten of these in my kitchen and am impresssed by their brightness and, as the previous halogen capsule lamps were exposed, the fact that they only get warm, not red-hot!
