Though this review is from mainly from my Lumia 930, the features apps and functions are still available on 830. I bought this phone for my family member who wanted to try a W8P and loves music. For this price you get a premium like phone that surpasses every other phone at a similar price range, and can hold its own against higher price range phones. The resolution, though lower then 930, still displays an amazingly sharp image, actually I never even noticed its 720p: Colours are vibrant, image/display look sharp, brightness is excellent without washout, contrast is excellent (please not you can adjust the display to you liking in display setting). The 830's OS/UI remains brilliant and fluid on touch with a great sense of feeling of control. The build, while not 930, is still very well built and feels good in the hand (though a little slippery). Its not a weighty phone, feels very light in the hand (personally I prefer phones with some weight like 920, 930, 1520). The amazing thing is! I'm actually starting to prefer this over my 930. Even though 930 has some better features(build, camera resolution, display, faster processors, extra ram); but in-reality I haven't noticed any difference that bothers me: The 830 display is excellent, camera is excellent though lower res, speed on loading apps;/internet is speedy, feels good. For every day use the 830 is fluid, fast, efficient, has good looks - It really is great for its price! Yet the 830 also has its own advantage over the 930: Glance screen is now back, expandable memory up 120GB(I do recommend using a fast card such as the Samsung Pro), a removable battery... Amazing for its price!Though the below review is mostly originally from my 930 review. The features, apps, functions are still available and work on the 830.Unique simplicity and modern is best to describe this phone. Good build that comes with a quality 10mp camera, with fluid and very elegant OS. The touch screen is the best I've used that can be used with ease even with gloves on. The sound is excellent. With W8.1 now having 'Swip' keyboard which is accurate and a faster way of typing with a bit practice . Apps are plenty, with less bloatware apps compared with Android/iOS where many apps do the same thing, but still W8P still has all the popular apps: Facebook, What's App, Netflix, BBCiplayer, 4oD, Spotify, Viber, Instagrams...etc; The store continues to add new apps with some excellent Nokia apps already built into the Lumia. Bing apps are great too: News, Weather, Sport, Fitness & Health, Travel, Food are all very clean and polished looking and very easy to navigate. Standard lockscreen is informative - this can be further altered and customised using the Lockmix app. NFC is built in and can be useful(Use Nokia apps for writing NFC tags - I use it for Nokia Mixradio to go to a 3 different chosen artist radio mix and then send it to a NFC speaker, also cab number on with tag on home phone if ever needed), you can also use it with NFC devices from speakers, tags, payment, mirroring phone on your tv. Accessories from Nokia like the wireless speakers has a 15hr charge where you can send you music by Bluetooth/NFC, speaker wireless phone charger allows you to listen to your music while charging the phone, and tags where you attach them to personal items eg: keys, bags, phones, bike, lap-tops, tablets, phones..etc; so if you forget them or leave them behind your Lumia can be set to alert you, and can be tracked if lost by using the phone...Updates now seem to arrive quicker from MS with other feature/improvement updates also coming at a faster rate. Contra(Speech assistance + info-cards)is here now, but even with the now already standard W8P voice assistance(not Contra)does a good job by doing the usual speech commands: Call, note, search, msg, open app; but can also, for certain apps, do certain things a little more extra compared to google/siri eg, say "Flixster top ten": It will show top cinema movies playing, . Tell 'Wikipedia' search "Star Trek" it will give info about your search request from the app and read the first part to you!. Tell Go To "-Insert Name/Place-" the app take you to those addresses if in your contacts: Simply double press the Search-Key and press See More to see what apps can be used in this way (you may have to open some apps first for voice to attach itself): Here are some apps that can be used - Calculator Toolbox, Go To, Wikipidia, Hey Dj, WP Central, Shazam, Foursquare, Facebook(MS), Flixster, Domino's Pizza, Nokia MixRadio, Voice Butler, UCBrowser, Earth Time..etc. With Windows 10 update in 2015 to come. 830 already comes with the 8.1 Denim update, with the camera update to follow soon.Lumia phones do have the ability to have your txt msg's read out to you (it will ask you first - just answer after the beep)which can be handy (go into Settings and then Speech). Another nice feature is pressing the Search-Key by a quick press for web/music/info or long press for Cortana.Rooms/Groups/People Hub on W8Ps allows easy quick access plus communication to who ever you put in them. This allowing grouping individuals together or who you choose for sharing or sending photos/videos, txts/chats, contacts, emails. Pins is another unique feature that allows you to pin most things to the screen such as apps, articles from the web, individual notes, sport/news/app pages, albums/artist address/map/route(s), page from web, photos, contact(s), group(s)..etc; all for later or just keep them there for quick access for when you want/need them - or do like I do just stick them all in W8.1 folders and label the folder Catch-up so you can read, listen to music, comeback to notes, reminders etc; all in one place for when need them,. Another simple but very useful function for people with/around children is 'Kids Corner'. Simply swipe right from lockscreen, put in code, which will now not allow a child to enter any other part of the phone except those apps you put in 'Kids Corner'. For travellers there's Nokia HERE Maps/Transit/Drive - also maps/directions can be used off-line too. Just download the map before you go!..TIP: In Nokie HERE Maps you can pin the app Places to the screen(It like more closer local Local Scout). Better still get HERE Explore Beta(now replaced with improved CityLens): This is where City Lens, Local Scout, Places all come together in one place and which actually more useful and accurate with your surroundings, plus better options (I think Nokia will drop City Lens, Local Scout, Places and use Explore - which does make sense). The phone seems suited for business users too as W8P' come with Office which can also be connected to mobile Office365 for setting up Office documents, with also Office Lens to capture pictures of whiteboards, documents, photos and then share them or just save them onto OneNote. Also Skype is also part of the phone that can be used for 'Facetime' and group chats as well as cheap calls abroad. Onedrive gives you plenty of free cloud storage, and with blackberry messenger soon to be released for W8P's too. Combine all this and with Lumia's smooth OS operation group/people hubs, live tiles, and the ease of use and to navigate really helps for people who do need a phone with a business use edge...Not forgetting all those XboxOne owners, there's 'Smartglass'. Entertainment from movies/sport/music/games can be beamed/shared on your Lumia screen. Smartglass can also be used to navigate and control functions on XboxOne too as well as be used to send msgs to Xbox friend lists, invite people for gaming, control apps on the console..etc.Experiencing Lumia WP8 is really different and does shine in areas above Android and Apple, and that's coming from a well used Android user(used SG1 and SG3, now using Xperia Z2 as my contract upgrade phone, bought a 2nd hand Lumia 920, and got the 930 recently. Have used iPhone too as my partner has it. While WP8 may still miss some functions from Android or iOS - but its vice versa on Android and iOS too. Its the new kid on the block, new OS, so just remember iOS and Android when they started - it took ages to reach what we have now! But it seems MS have caught-up faster, is listening to users, and pushing ahead in updates and quality. This Lumia model will almost certainly be the last one to bear the Nokia brand as the mobile phone section of Nokia is now owned by Microsoft, and I've heard that all future Lumia models will bear the Microsoft brand name and not the Nokia name.In a nutshell, this phone hits the sweet spot of features vs. price and I've been delighted with this phone in the (nearly a) month since I bought it.Whilst the phone's specifications aren't at the very top of the Lumia class, all the right features are included and of high enough spec. to make the 830 a very capable and versatile "all rounder" phone - and at a much lower price than the Lumia 930.I would have liked to buy the Lumia 930 but bought the 830 instead for two reasons:1)The 930 has no memory expansion slot which the 830 has (up to 128gB).2) the battery is not replaceable in the 930 but is in the 830.And whilst the 930 has more memory & internal storage space, a faster processor and arguably a better screen, the 830 has a very clear and perfectly acceptable screen of the same size as the 930. In all other areas the 830 comes very close to the 930 specification-wise, it's no slouch and easily has enough memory and storage space to be able to run the upcoming Windows Phone 10 operating system. As well as being a very capable smartphone running Windows Phone 8.1 (Denim), it's great for use as a mobile phone (obviously!) it's a very capable MP3 player, it gives any competent hand-held GPS unit a run for its money (e.g. the Garmin Etrex series) and with the right software (priced at £3.49) will provide just about the same amount of information. Oh, and with a decent rear 10mP camera (with LED flash) and a passable 0.9mP front camera for selfies and Skype, the 830 makes for a very usable still and movie camera too.The built-in wireless charging works well too, and whilst slower than wired charging with the supplied charger (AC-50) it isn't much slower - around 75% as fast. This may vary depending on whether you use a protective case and which model, but mine is inside a substantial leather case and it charges just fine through the protective case which I bought via Amazon (ASIN B00OM02L42).Battery life I would say is about average: I can get around 10 hours out of a full charge whilst listening to music and using GPS recording software concurrently and continuously which isn't bad but not fantastic either. It's difficult to find real fault with anything on this phone, but to be a fair review I must mention the only two niggles I have - and they're minor - which are:1) whilst the bevelled edges of the screen look good, they make applying a screen protector a nightmare - especially getting it to adhere properly at the sides.2) The 830 takes a nano sim card rather than the micro sim card that just about every other Lumia phone takes. I guess this was done to try and woo members the iPhone 5/6 brigade over to Microsoft! It's a problem that's easily overcome though as most phone service providers (except EE if you order it online) will ship you a replacement nano sim card free of charge should you need it.In summary: a very capable Windows Phone with excellent features for the price.Recommended.Update 06/10/15:Having used the phone for recording some train sounds at various galas with the app Audio Recorder Pro,I can confirm the sound quality is astounding! The 830 will record at 96khz 16 bit stereo with no difficulty. Listening to these recordings through headphones sounds just like I'm there! On this phone I've made the best quality recordings I've ever done in my 50 years of using recording equipment.Cue one happy camper!

I'm used to Android so this was a real learning experience for me. However, I had fun learning how to use the Windows Phone OS and I'm really enjoying the crisp, clear screen on this phone. I'll explain some of the features I like and some of the features I like less.FEATURES I LIKE - HARDWARE* The screen on this phone is beautiful - really lovely. The colours are bright. The blacks are dark. The resolution is excellent. Videos and text appear crisp and beautiful. I really, really like this screen!* The size of the screen means that everything is very easy to read. This is the largest phone screen I've ever had before and I'm really enjoying the extra clarity that the extra 3/4 of an inch is giving me.Watching YouTube and looking at photos is a real pleasure on this large screen.* The camera on this phone is excellent. The resolution and clarity are amazing and the photos look really good on the screen.* The battery life is good - perhaps better than my Samsung phone. I think I could get through a whole day on this Nokia Lumia phone without having to recharge. Also, the phone seems to charge faster than my Samsung phone charges.FEATURES I LIKE - SOFTWARE* The Windows Phone software is actually fairly intuitive. I was able to install apps, move the position of the tiles on the main screen and sort out my settings fairly quickly. In all, I probably spent around 1 hour setting up Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flipboard, Evernote, Tumblr and Opera Mini and installing a few other new apps and arranging them to my liking. It took another hour to set up my OneDrive account (so that the photos I take on my phone sync to my cloud and PC) and to tweak the settings to my exact liking. In other words, it didn't take me too long.* One of the best apps is MixRadio, which allows you to listen to quite a few playlists on wifi at no cost and without adverts. These mixes range from 'categories' such as UK singles chart, R&B chart, US hot 100 to 'moods' such as happy songs, sad songs, pop party and 'genres' such as blues, christian and metal. Best of all, you can download up to 4 of these mixes onto your phone for offline listening. This is a great app - good quality, no adverts and FREE!FEATURES I LIKE LESS* My main and not insignificant criticism is the lack of all of the apps that I am used to. For example, I use a book reading app on my Android phone which is not available in the Windows Phone market; the alternative app on Windows Phone isn't anywhere near as good. I also paid for the White Noise app on my Android phone and tablet; while the same app is available on Windows Phone market, it is a much, much inferior version and barely worth downloading. For this reason, the phone gets 4 stars rather than 5.OVERALLThis is a great, great piece of kit. The screen is bright, clear and the resolution is great. If you are content using major apps (like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Flipboard) then you will be fine. However, if you use a lot of specific apps on either an iPhone or Android phone, then you may have to root around to find alternative apps.

I bought my Nokia Lumia 830 elsewhere on a Black Friday sale. I previously have had a Nokia Lumia 820 for the last 2 years and it has served me well and is still a good phone. I decided to upgrade because I wanted to try a phone with a larger screen. I went for the black version and previously had the black Lumia 820.Being a Windows phone user already, I won't be reviewing the Windows Phone operating system, just the phone itself. Suffice to say that I am happy to remain with windows Phone as I believe it looks good, is easy to use, is stable and has all the apps and functionality that I need.Comparing the Lumia 830 to my old Lumia 820, here are the pros and cons:Pros1)The 830 looks a bit more stylish and modern than the 8202) The 830 has a larger screen than the 820 (5" vs 4.3")3) The screen resolution is better (720x1280 vs 480x800) - this is actually only barely noticeable though4) The 830 is marginally faster when loading apps and switching between them5) The 830 battery lasts longer - possibly around 50% longer in my experience6) The 830 is actually lighter than the 820 (150g vs 160g)7) The 830 has Lumia Denim with Cortana on it (although UK Cortana is a mere shadow of the US version - but that is separate issue)8) The 830 camera is better (10MP vs 8MP) and it has Optical Image stabilisation9) The sound on the 830 is better - less tinny - the 830 supports Dolby, which the 820 does not.Cons1) The Screen is LCD instead of AMOLED. Black is darker on the 820's AMOLED screen and at night, having glance on, only the time lights up on the 820's AMOLED, whilst the 830,s whole screen is backlit to show the time.2) The larger screen cannot be easily reached with your thumb when holding the phone in one had, This will probably take some getting used to.3) the USB charging port is on the top of the phone instead of the bottom. This is slightly odd, particularly for car chargers, but is only minor because of the wireless charging.Still good1) The removable back enabling you to change battery, replace sim and SD card2) SD card allows for expanding the memory3) wireless recharging4) Dedicated camera button which can call up the camera even when the phone is lockedAnother point to note, if you are upgrading from one windows Phone to another, is that the backup feature means that you can restore all the settings from the old phone to the new phone as you set it up. This is a seamless process and it preserved almost all my settings, including alarms.Overall, I am pleased I got the phone, but I would not have done so at the current price level, particularly as you can get the Lumia 735 for about £140 and that has a similar spec. (my wife opted to get the 735). I only purchased it because it was on offer at a price I felt that it is worth. I would consider the appropriate price for the Lumia 830 to be about £220.

I have had this phone now for 6 months and I absolutely love it. I've had iPhones before (a 3GS and 4) and also an android (Sony Xperia Z) so I was a bit reluctant to make the big jump to a Windows Phone. But I am not disappointed! The battery is good, which was very important for me as the Xperia Z's battery was terrible. The interface is great, you can pin almost anything to the home screen. The live tiles are something unique and different too. The phone feels good quality, but I do agree that the back plastic cover is sometimes a pain to fit back onto the phone. Although, this is not a problem for me as a removable and replaceable battery is something not a lot of phones have these days. The camera is also good with lots of features for those who like it complicated and integrated auto upload to OneDrive, etc, but has an auto mode so you can snap away. The apps - this is the only feature holding back the Windows phone. The built in Windows/Microsoft apps are brilliant. However, there is still a lack of the latest third party apps. I don't find this a problem though as the third party apps are catching up quite quickly and I like the excitement of something new in the store. I am very happy with the price I paid for the phone, I bought it when there was an offer of a free wireless charger and Bluetooth speaker. Since then I have seen offers of a free fitbit with qualifying purchases and Microsoft are still bringing new offers. It is much cheaper than the previous iPhones and Xperia Z I had saved up and paid almost £500 for.The phone is well supported with 8.1 factory fitted and Windows phone 10 coming shortly (the technical previews are available). I would recommend that potential customers look up the Windows phone interface on YouTube and check the availability of their favourite apps in the browser version of the Windows phone store so they won't be disappointed.I would also like to point out some great features the phone has like a dedicated camera button, double tap to wake and glance screen as well as Cortana. Lots of people say that Cortana drains the battery on Windows phones but it doesn't on this one. It isn't as good as Google's version, but it is definitely comparable and getting better. The only gripe I had with it was not being able to use the do not disturb feature when you disable Cortana. However, the only reason I wanted this is because I was worried about the battery which I now know is unaffected by Cortana being always enabled. When you search for something in IE it goes through Cortana's interface which is very confusing at first but I quickly got used to it. But - don't be worried because this can be avoided by using a third party browser like UC browser from the store (free).Over all I am very happy with the phone, I do highly recommend it as a cheap, reliable and well built phone. 5 stars.

There is quite a lot to like about this phone, not least the Transfer my Data function that allowed me to get all of my phone numbers from my old Samsung into the contacts file in the Nokia. This is something that I have found frustrating over the years as I have had to copy numbers manually: no doubt that this is a common feature of more recent phones, but it is new to me. I like having the option of speaking and recording text messages and having this feature work pretty much perfectly and the tiles make sense, at least on a phone format. The calendar works pretty well and is easy to access and update. Cortana, the window's version of Siri works more or less, but this is not of any particular interest to me,nor the fact that the phone is not particularly rich in apps: I regard a mobile phone as a tool rather than an entertainment centre. That said, the news feed and a download of a daily newspaper is useful. Setting up email is tricksy, but I have never found this especially straightforward, but outlook accounts are certainly easier than non outlook/hotmail accounts which do not sync quite as readily and I might still have to get help or advice to get this working properly. The screen is very clear, the camera a dream and phone clarity the best I have encountered so far, so what's not to like? well, data usage is potentially a problem: I have a 2mb per month limit and in six days have used half of it without consciously using online facilities at all. Checking out other reviews for the Nokia 830, I did not find any that referred to this issue until I dug about and discovered that excessive data usage is a problem. There is a solution and that lies in using the Data Sense app to turn off or otherwise restrict data usage to a minimum, but what is the point in having the facility if you cannot reasonably use it? My average monthly data usage on android was 0.8mb per month, involving the occasional google search and extensive use of online news; on the Nokia I would need 10mb a month as a minimum even with judicious use. I have as near as unlimited text and phone coverage but, without a set limit on data use, I could find myself inadvertantly racking-up large bills just by allowing the phone to function with live feeds and constant updates. As I said, there is a lot to like about this phone and the functionality that it offers, but it could easily represent a financial drain, which I feel is a problem that needs to be addressed in the interest of consumer confidence. My advice is that this is an excellent phone, but make sure you build into your contract a good level of data usage or turn everything down from the outset.

I was pleasantly surprised with this phone. I've always used either iPhones, or Android, and currently have a HTC One (M8), so was interested to see what WindowsPhone was actually like. The phone itself is fairly smart in a non descript way, it's certainly inoffensive in style and looks like a slob of glass on the front, and nice and thin and light overall. This does have a removable battery which is a huge bonus for some people. My experience was that battery life was generally good, and easily got me through a day - day and a half, so this wasn't key for me. However, as there is a removable battery, this does mean the back cover is removable and I found it frustrating trying to get all the clips in place when putting it back on.Turning the phone on,you are presented with a nice bright screen, and whilst only a 720p resolution, is certainly clear enough and I didn't notice any difference between this and the higher resolution of my M8.For those using WindowsPhone for the first time, this is different to iOS and Android, and instead uses a tile system. The tiles are customisable and you can set up the home screen how you like. I found this simple to use and very quickly seemed second nature. All other apps are easily accessed by swiping the screen. The phone comes pre loaded with Office and a number of other apps such as Skype which is useful, and everything seems easy to use. The Siri like assistant (Cortana) is easy to set up with on screen guidance through. Cortana is designed to act as an assistant with reminders etc, and the examples offered to ask include things such as will I need my mac today (clearly set up for the US). One thing I did like about Cortana was when connected to the car via bluetooth, it will read out text messages and ask if you want to dictate a reply. This could be very handy for those people who need to see a text but can't as they are driving. The only real downside with this phone is the app store. Whilst this is increasing, there are still gaps when compared to the App Store and Google Play. For some people this won't matter, in which case you're getting an easy to use and well built phone for a good price. For others however, this will be a distinct disadvantage and will be the difference between opting for this or not.Overall, I did like it, and its great to see a different approach with the tile interface rather than the usual system used by Android and Apple.

The Nokia Lumia 830 has great features ,great build quality and it has a premium feel to it although the black one with the grey anodized metal edging looks more classy which i do prefer to the silver natural metal edging on the orange, white and green phones ,guess it is all down to personal taste .The price i paid for the Lumia 830 was £245 sim free with 1 years guarantee although the company that i bought the phone off only occasionally advertises on Amazon but the deal is still out there .Found the Lumia Denim update 100% stable ,fast no lag a joy to use with an extremely modern user friendly interface .I have experienced no issues to date, bugs or crashes unlike android o.s although i have only owned this phone for only 4 weeks everything is very stable,Microsoft have really done their homework with this phone and it is a pleasure to use .Features that i love about this phone ,voice activation using Cortana , results are fast and accurate ,my personal favourite is using Cortana to get directions all voice activated and hands free starting the sat nav away you go! great if you in a hurry plus many more commands which are usually answered by Cortana in a rather witty and sometimes sarcastic replies .Other features that i love are the auto brightness adjust , quality text /images Pixel density may be 296 ppi but it is perfectly clear same goes for images amoled screen of the 930 colour especially the black which looks a lot richer warmer but very little in it despite the 930's 441 ppi pixel density although i do prefer the 830 when reading text on a white background it just looks better .The removable battery ,expandable memory up to 128GB via a micro sim card slot, glance screen feature also thinner, lighter and £60 cheaper than the Nokia Lumia 930 won it for me .I have no problems what so ever with the processor speed ,text image quality, camera or video and phone calls sound/clarity is clear and crisp. The only very small gripe with this phone is the over sized camera lens and positioning which is easy to touch and easy to get finger marks on the lens apart from that image quality is excellent much better than expected same goes for the 1080p video with quality Dolby sound .

Great phone for under £300. Sim free, expandable memory, with removable battery. For a smartphone I'm finding the 830 a wonderful phone to use with its functions, features, feel, and its simplicity. Lovely fluid interface that comes with a excellent display. Love the way you can customize the screen to you preference simply by using customizing the tile by size, colour, or using your imagination with apps like Skinery Themes(my fav), Transparent Tiles, Start Perfect, Groupy ..etc. This allowing to make the phone more personal to your liking as it allows you to add tile spacers, add text to tiles(adjust size of text to fit tile within app), add photos/colours to tiles, revolve tile images, launch apps/functions/webpages..etc to tiles. You can even just use tiles for looking cool and nothing else using these apps... If like me you like everything organized in folders. Then you will love Live folders on 830. They're just so fun to use and look cool too... Camera is good from what I've used, though I do recommend testing both Lumia and MS camera for your own preference(I prefer MS), both are as standard on 830. I would recommend testing the camera features to understand them for better photos, and maybe add Lumia Storyteller app for keeping track of places/info on photos taken(great app). I love when listening to music on the default music app, it displays the biography, discography, similar artist related to who you maybe listening too. Just sublime and wonderful for music fans - You do need to be connected to the interent for this though, and will not always work with every artist(esp. lesser know artist. Pinning is one of the best features I've ever used on a smartphone. A very useful tool in many different ways for many reasons... A great all rounder for photos, media, travel, storage, fun; and not forgetting wireless charging and NFC. Great value for under £300.

I'm a crusty Blackberry fan. I've had Samsung Galaxies and the HTC One, but neither really floated my boat. I don't have a huge need for bells and whistles, I just want to get emails and messages quickly, with a clear notification, plus reliable note, calendar and contacts apps, an intuitive interface and the odd extra app for non-business use. This then was my first Nokia in 15 years. I wanted to like it to give me a non-Blackberry phone that I could warm to. Here's my thoughts. On the plus side:- the phone is a good size, fits easily in the hand, isn't too heavy and feels and looks good- set-up was very straightforward - easier than most other phones I've tried- start-up and restarts are very quick, compared to the Blackberry- camera is miles better than the Samsung, Blackberry or HTC in my view - quick to focus, easy to adjust, with good rich and accurate colours- there are some great and useful features, like Office 365, allowing simple spreadsheets, there's wireless charging, a microSD slot and a ton of useful apps- it's a hell of a lot of phone for the money - the Sony Xperia Z3 may be its closest competitor, but that's lots more moneyOn the downside:- my fingers naturally seemed to gravitate to the camera screen, which is housed in a big circular disk on the back of the phone. I wonder how robust/scratch-free that will stay- no flashing notification on emails meant I kept having to turn the phone screen on to see if I had a message- I didn't find enough here to break my Blackberry habit or to stand out from the HTCs and Samsungs of the world. It's just not all that. Nokia need to find some new hook - maybe buy Blackberry and adopt their intuitive screenwiping and messaging systems.

This is a great mid-range smart phone with some excellent features and some drawbacks. Firstly, it is a very light phone considering the size of it. The 5-inch screen is a lovely thing to look at, maybe slightly lacking on sharpness if I am to be picky. The styling of the main screen feels a bit dated and well, squarish. Screen sensitivity is excellent and browsing- effortless.I found the initial setting up of the phone tedious and not as intuitive as I would have liked it to be. However there are plenty of customising options and features to make most people happy and plenty of options to make this phone truly 'your own'. Features like linking contacts in a hub so that they show on the same page are a nice touch. The camera takes very good photos, both in day- and low-light, and its only let down is a tad slower shutter speed. There is even a 'Lumia Selfie' button for the more seasoned users. The MS Office add on seems like a nice idea but having played with it, it is quite sluggish and made me rather frustrated, instead of revelling in the fact I can manipulate documents on the go.Some great features are the Radio, Sat Nav and wireless charging option. Battery life is reasonable too. The back cover of the phone is removable and replaceable with different coloured ones. There is the option for an additional Micro SD card which could be a big plus for some users.Overall, it is a good option for anyone who wants a decent smart phone with some good features. Given its price margin with some of the market leaders, it is certain a phone to consider.

A quality Nokia phone, great screen despite some negative reviews. Has plenty of power for everyday windows tasks, games take a little while to load but play fine and I haven't com across any issues as yet. Switching between apps can get annoying with the 'resuming....' Screen keep appearing but nothing to cry about. Camera is great with clear photos and videos with awesome surround sound! However, its advertised as 10mp but really its 8mp as that is the maximum size you can take. The removable battery is a great idea which should be on everyohone, makes life easier! Expandable memory should be on all phones too! The back cover does feel flimsy when removing and installing but it seems like it will take some punishment! All in all a great mid range phone with plenty of features to play with and with the imminent arrival of windows 10, the experience can only get better. Windows phone is a great OS that just needs a few changes (coming in windows 10) to make it perfect. Developers need to leave the android and ios ship and start supporting the underdog, with the full app support windows phone could be number 1. I have had android and iPhones before but my favourite is windows. The price of the handsets is sanity too, not insane like the iphone!!!! Give windows a try, you will be surprised at what you can do and nokia cameras never fail to be great!

Unbelievable phone! Incredible features, amazing size, not too big but just right. Such a smooth interface and touch perfect. Awesome picture quality....and will be even better when the announced updates are available. I have had 2 Iphones, Samsungs and i have to say that in the last 2 months i have purchased the Nokia 630 for work and the Nokia 830 for personal use and they are blindingly better phones than any others i have had. I particularly love the fact when i am driving and connected to my bluetooth speaker, call quality on both is excellent, texts get read out aloud and you can even reply via voice. The Nokia 830 features overall are the best i have ever experienced on a phone.Cortana (Nokias version of Siri, found on the Iphone works better than Siri for my money) and recognises my voice much better too. I strongly recommend that for the money, compared to the twice the price and too big Iphone 6 this is an absolute winner. Windows 8.1 syncs with everything instantly....my life is so much easier and more organised than ever before. Please consider this phone very seriously folks, you will not be disappointed.

I bought this locally not from Amazon. It has replaced my 2yr old 820.I think it's fab, after 2 years my 820 was still doing well, until it jumped out of my hand! As I was only a month off my contract renewal I decided to replace it early rather than repair it as my 'buy out' was less than the excess :) I'd had my eye on this phone as I don't need an amazing camera (OH has the 1020) and couldn't justify the extra for a 930.This is a nice upgrade, ships with Lumia Denim and Cortana (Siri equivalent) so has newer software than the 820 but still easy to use, no real changes just smoother. Like all windows devices it's a breeze to set up. Just log-in with microsoft account details & it gets settings etc from the cloud, even my wallpaper was as set on the old one! I'd experienced this before with a tablet but it's so simple and makes it easy to 'unlink' the old one from accounts too.I've rarely found there isn't an app when needed, office is part of the software so great for work too.

Delivery as quoted within 2 days, not very well packaged being totally honest. First impressions: the phone is as new, hardly a mark on it. It came in the original Nokia box with quick instructions, 3 pin UK charger, USB to micro USB lead & of course the phone and battery. It was advertised as sim free but I had to wait to get the micro sim from Virgin. Once this arrived, popped it in & I was in business. The phone was originally on Vodafone but took my sim card no problem. Within 30 minutes the phone had updated itself to Windows 8.1 along with all apps etc. This is my first windows phone so I decided to invest in the Lumia 830 with 5" screen, not top of the bunch but not the lowest end.I have been pleasantly surprised with my purchase. It's not an Android phone which I am used to but like a mini windows laptop with a phone. The app selection is OK, overall I am very pleased with the purchase, glad I made the move to a windows phone & I would invest in further windows phones.
