This states that it takes a month to give good results, and having used both the product for uncoloured and coloured hair within that time, I feel like I've given it a fair testing.The shampoo and conditioner are really good quality, 150 ml isn't particularly generous, but you only need about 8 ml to wash your hair, if, like me, you have thin hair, and why would you be using this if you didn't have it? It's a very thick shampoo, smelling very strongly of peppermint. You can feel this tingling on your scalp, which may account for the burning sensation experienced by some.If you already have irritated skin on your scalp, and thin hair due to scalp issues, this may not be for you.I wouldn't want to get the shampoo, conditioner or scalp treatment anywhere near my mucous membranes. It has the same effect as a well-known brand of mint and tea tree shower gel.What you shouldn't do, in my experience is use the foam, which is designed to somehow be applied to the scalp without being applied to the hair. Perhaps a hairdresser or trichologist can do this, I certainly couldn't.It ruined my hair, temporarily, making it feel coarse and crisp. I couldn't wait to wash it out, and fortunately it did wash out easily.This is quite expensive if you bin the foam you have paid for. I did find that my hair certainly had more volume, it looked quite flyaway. Actually, it looked like the Seventies cartoon character Crystal Tipps on a bad day, and given that it is usually poker-straight, this super-frizzy effect was quite impressive. It was tamed with straighteners.So, this does fluff your hair out quite well to give the impression of volume, and you get really good, deep cleaning shampoo and conditioner.Using the shampoo and conditioner as advised, and all will be well.

My wife has been trying this three-part set of Nioxin for the past month. It comprises shampoo, conditioner and scalp lotion. Please note also there are 6 grades depending on one’s hair type. My wife has been trying the Nioxin 5 which is really for chemically treated hair needing intense moisture and suffering light thinning. There are three main functions/effects: the first is to cleanse the scalp by purifying it against clogging of the hair follicles with sebum and of course pollution, the second is to improve the density of one’s hair and the third is to improve the diameter of each hair. My wife has fine hair which is coloured and she likes to straighten it each day with the hair-straighteners.Here are some thoughts:It’s easy and pleasant to use. The shampoo and the conditioner I thought was especially effective at making my scalp feel more alive – no doubt helped by the menthol and the caffeine. My hair overall felt more voluminous and bouncy. Please note this took some weeks for these effects to establish themselves but after four weeks of regular use I could definitely feel the improvements. I thought the third solution, the scalp and hair treatment was less effective for me as it caused a little irritation in the form of itching.All in all though, for me, the third solution the scalp and hair treatment lotion was less effective the shampoo and the conditioner were excellent and well worth a try. Of course each person will perhaps notice different positives and negatives. It’s only been four weeks and it’s something I’d like to continue with to see if further benefits become noticeable. This 3 piece Nioxin Set is aimed at coping with chemically treated hair and is well worth trying provided you are realistic in your expectations. The 3 stage process starts with a shampoo then a conditioner and thirdly a scalp conditioner and all three need to be left on the hair for several minutes to work properly. The shampoo and conditioner offer effective cleansing, but the really important feature of them is that they leave a kind of very thin residue of film on the hair which gradually builds up as you use it regularly-this is the reason no doubt why the manufacturers are clear that you will see no immediate change but require at least 6 weeks to see any change.This coating of the hair does seem to do two things-it gives the hair a bit more strength and offers a modest increase in the volume of the hair. There is no doubt that the hair most likely to benefit from this treatment is either that which has been bleached or had the combined pressure of heat and curling applied to it-here that extra strength is genuinely useful.I also like the third element of the package-the scalp treatment which really helps to get moisture to an area which can really suffer from dryness and flaking especially if you use dryers and chemicals on your hair regularly. There is no question that you must use it as a 3 part program regularly to get the best out of it. If you do this you won't transform your hair, but you will look after it better and help to protect it from wear and tear.

Nioxin 3 Part Trial Kit System 2 is an ideal solution for those how have not chemically treated their hair yet find the condition and texture of hair are losing its thickness. lustre or healthy look and feel.First thing I love about this range of hair products is the fragrance and how it makes my scalp feel, as once applied especially when I applied the hair conditioner part of the treatment as my scalp tingled and it was a nice tingle along with the menthol which I found to be so clearing of my sinuses.After washing my hair, my hair was squeaky clean, with the added advantage the shampoo was very rich therefore a little goes a long way.The serum is a nice smooth product which was very easyto apply to the roots of my hair.After using the trio of products my hair felt soft and silky smooth and I found my hair easy to dry and though I used my usual volumising product this trio of products made a small positive change to my hair which continued as I used the products.I love this range of products and it is the simple fact-finding what your hair needs regarding when it comes to health, past hair treatments etc as this will be very important when it comes to purchasing the correct range of products which are manufactured to suit most hair conditions.Happy to recommend.

The Nioxin 3 Part Trial Kit System 2 comprises three bottles of product: 150ml each of shampoo and of conditioner and 40ml of serum. The bottles have differently coloured tops so it's easy to see which is which. There is a scanty instruction leaflet.The shampoo smells nice, probably tea-tree oil, and feels slightly astringent on the scalp. I have a patch of eczema on the back of my neck at the hairline which stung a bit but I didn't think tea-tree oil would do any harm. The shampoo otherwise felt quite ordinary. It didn't lather much, which I prefer. The conditioner was a bit messy to apply and I found it took a lot of rinsing out. The serum was hard to get on just the scalp because I'm not bald (yet)so of course the product coated my hair at the roots, which I didn't like. It felt a bit cloggy, a bit gungey.I haven't used the product for the recommended thirty days yet so it would be unfair to say whether or not it has made an appreciable difference to the health of my hair. Certainly my hair looks fuller and perhaps a bit more shiny. We always hope for an immediate miracle, which isn't a just approach. I'll revisit the review if anything spectacular happens either way by the end of the month's trial.

I've used Nioxin before and i'm pretty happy with the brand. From hair pulling and OCD as a kid i've got pretty poor hair, very thin on the top of the scalp and dry at the ends.This treatment when done properly does improve the look of it, to me it seems like it adds a mild film on the hair, but it doesn't feel weird in any way. I like products like this because though I don't feel like it's some magic serum that's regrowing my hair, it gives me just enough confidence in how it looks improved that I stop destroying it myself quite so much.The thing about it though is you have to be consistent - using it for a months' course and then going back to normal shampoo will only strip away the 'coating'it gives. I would say use it non-stop for the first time, then if you find it's useful, incorporate it in to an every-other-day or twice weekly routine, alongside other products.I would also say - don't be swayed by the advertising! That blonde girl clearly just was born with great hair. I think it's a great product, but also you have to be realistic with your expectations - any improvement is great, even if it never achieves your ultimate goal hair.

Chemically treated hair – progressed thinningChoose the right one for your hair type for the optimum potential results. I am testing number 4 as I have coloured hair, albeit not with progressed thinning. The system consists of a shampoo and conditioner (steps 1 & 2)and a scalp treatment (step 3). Step 3 is a leave in product.The products have an unusual scent, which isn’t unpleasant but reminds me of cold formulas like Vicks that are designed to clear your nose. It leaves hair feeling nicely conditioned and bouncy, but I cannot see any obvious signs that it is any fuller than it was before, although I haven’t used it for the full 30 days as yet. Three trial size products to help restore volume/thickness to fine hair that has been colour treated. The set consists of shampoo/cleanser (150ml), conditioner (150ml) and serum (50ml) with full instructions included. Quick and easy to use;1. Cleanse and rinse.2. Condition - leave the conditioner in your hair for between 1-3 minutes - rinse.3. Massage the serum into your scalp and leave in - don't rinse out.After the first use I could feel a slight difference to the texture of my hair. It felt and looked thicker and there were no signs of static which can be a real problem for hair as fine as mine. For those reasons I'll continue to use Nioxin System 5 because the added volume makes my hair easier to handle and I can do slightly more with it.My 'niggles' would be that I don't care for the strong, minty fragrance in all three products and the serum leaves my hair looking slightly greasy and less glossy. I really like the shampoo and conditioner and am happy to carry on using those two products. I'll continue with the serum but less regularly and more as an intensive treatment.

I've used this with just the shampoo and conditioner, and got very good results that I was very happy with. I would advise against using the foaming scalp treatment though.I've used previous scalp treatments that were liquid and fairly easy to apply to the scalp, but this was a foam, and it was near impossible not to get it all over my thinnish, very fine chin-length hair.There was a small section of my hair that didn't get a dose of foam, and this felt fine, as did my hair when I washed it with the shampoo and conditioner on its own.With the foam, my hair was like straw, it felt awful. It didn't look too horrendous, it was thicker, but that was scant compensation. I applied another leave in conditioner,suitable for dry hair, but even this couldn't quite overcome it.So, get this by all means, it does make your hair look thicker. But bin the foam unless you have someone to help you to apply it to your scalp, who can manage not to get it on your hair. If they can do that, they are impressively dextrous, or a professional hairdresser/trichologist, in all probability.

I’ve always had fine, thin hair and with PCOS I tend to lose a lot of hair. Almost 3.5 months postpartum my hair started falling out. After 9 months of thick non-shedding hair it was pretty saddening to see it all go, and with my pcos I was afraid I would lose more hair than I had prior to being pregnant. This stuff makes my hair feel so nice and I’ve only used it for 3 weeks now, usually just once a week. My hair feels so thick after using the 3 products together, and I’ve noticed that my hair has become much softer and healthy looking as it was extremely dry before using this stuff. I also use a leave in conditioner by caviar, so I know that that helps as well. Anyway,as long as this product continues to make my hair feel this way I will continue to use it and investigate other products that they have. I will note that I have not noticed my hair not falling out any less or any hair growth, but like I’ve said I use it maybe once a week and I’ve only had the products for 3 weeks so far.

You get a shampoo and a conditioner, which work as expected -- an effective shampoo, and a pleasant conditioner that leaves your hair feeling smooth. Then the important part -- the scalp and hair treatment, which is meant to make your hair seem thicker. I have used this product regularly for over a year, and really notice the difference it makes. My hair is easier to arrange, seems springier and a bit fuller.The product is easy to use, but which of its multitude of ingredients is having an effect is impossible to say.If your hair is going a bit weak or thin, this is well worth a try. The alternative for coloured hair, if you have just a little thinning, is Nioxin No.3. For untreated hair, take a look at numbers 1 and 2, and for chemically treated hair, it's numbers 5 and 6.

This three in one hair treatment from NIOXIN is designed to nourish, strengthen and improve thinning hair. The kit contains a shampoo/cleaner, conditioner and a serum.Not a quick fix the treatment is designed to gradually show an improvement to the hair after using consistently for a month. The shampoo itself is lovely, as is the conditioner and my hair certainly has more depth and texture to it after use. The serum is very good but my only problem is I have greasy hair despite it being so fine and this serum seems to make it greaser. For me I shall use the shampoo and condioner as my regular hair treatment and use the serum just now and then to give my hair a boost because after using theserum I need to wash my hair again almost immediately as it greasy after use.A good product that I think after refular use over a period of time will show great improvement to my hair but certainly not a quick fix or overnight miracle.

After experiencing sudden hair thinning I searched the Internet for advice for products to use to try and stop my hair loss. The Nioxin 3 step programme was one of these and I have been using it for the last 4 weeks.The shampoo is thick so you don’t need a lot. It has a great minty smell and makes the scalp tingle. I follow it with the conditioner, again, easy to apply and a pleasant minty smell.As I have been prescribed a scalp product by my GP I haven’t used the stage 3 of the system ( a scalp tonic)My hair definitely feels thicker, where other shampoos had just seemed to emphasise the fineness of my hair. I can see some regrowth but am not sure that that can be necessarily attributed to the Nioxin system after only 6 weeks but,whatever, I feel much more confident that these products are supporting my hair and that the regrowth will continue.I have also been taking hair vitamins orally.

I’ve tried a few of the Nioxin range of six treatments for thinning hair, and numbers 5 and 6 are the ones that suited me, since my hair is bleached and coloured – and thinner than I would wish. Number 6 is for “progressed” thinning, and this one, number 5, is meant for “light” thinning.All of the Nioxin range are used in the same way, and there isn’t any fuss or difficulty. You get an effective shampoo and a conditioner that leaves your hair smooth. These feel much like any good hair products. The important part is the final hair and scalp treatment which you put on and leave on – no rinsing. After a few uses, my hair was definitely easier to arrange, and seemed springier and stronger,and looked fuller. So if you are starting to be concerned about thinning hair, I think this is well worth trying. If your hair is already pretty thin, you might want to go for number 6, which worked best for me.

Some years ago, Nioxin helped me through a bout of chemo. Along with using a cold cap, I emerged after 6 months worth of treatment with two thirds of my hair still intact - and it also helped my re-growth afterwards no end. Brilliant!Then I stopped using it.Now, 6 years on, I am taking medication that could potentially threaten my hair - so I decided to get myself a new set of Nioxin, and hopefully stave off any hair loss before it begins.Using it again has been like coming home. The fresh minty smell is so good, and that scalp tingle really wakes me up in the morning!But best of all is how this system makes my hair feel again! It's soft and shiny, right from the first use,and I love it!Haven't used the mousse yet, but I may try it at night having read the other reviews.If you are having any hair thinning/loss issues, I really do recommend giving Nioxin a try - it works for me! :-)
