I have been using the Nioxin hair system starter kit now for seven weeks.I was recommended it by my hairdresser because since my menopause, (it started two years ago) my hair has been visibly thinning. She seemed to think I only needed system 1 (slightly thinning) but I thought it was worse than that & I would have plumped for system 2 (noticeably thinning). She has told me it is not that bad - as yet, so I obviously am slightly paranoid about it.I have waited to write, as if you look on the many more reviews under "starter kit" (in the hundreds) the majority say it takes a while to see results.I do use all three products in the starter kit & wash my hair every other day; leaving it on religiously as directed.After six weeks I had nearly run out of the conditioner but I still had at least a third left in the shampoo & scalp treatment. This is obviously because I have very long hair & need more for the length. I find if I only put the conditioner on my scalp & not all over; the hair not treated gets frizzy. Hence why I ordered & received a larger bottle of the conditioner & shall do the same when I run out of the other products. (I only bought the small starter kit initially as I did not want to spend a lot of money if it did not work, or if like some have mentioned I had a reaction to it). I've also found I only need to shampoo my hair once as it works so well, (I used to do it twice with Dove Pro-Age).I have what I call female pattern baldness, it is receeding at my widows peaks & thinning at the front; however the back, from the crown is still thick! My hairfall is not as heavy in the shower, bath or on my brush as it was & I can see visible new hair growth at the hair-line now in differing lengths - so it looks a bit amusing when I tie my hair back, (which I unfortunately have to do for work, however I know it does not help). The hair that is growing in seems to be coarser & curlier than before though which is odd but tbh I got so stressed about being bald by the time I hit 50, (soon) I'm not looking a gift-horse in the mouth!I'm going to use the small bottles for when I have a shower at the gym & de-cant into them & buy big ones from now on for at home, as it's more cost-effective. I have not given it 5 stars as I think it is a tad expensive & also I'm not too keen on the strong mint smell, (it's bearable). I do like the tingling sensation it brings to your scalp though.

As a long term user of Nioxin hair cleanser I was quite keen to try this kit, featuring cleanser, conditioner and mousse-like scalp and hair treatment. While I am impressed by the added thickness and weight to my hair as a result of the three step process, I am inclined to regard it as an ‘at the end of the day’ process rather than ‘spruce up and shoot off to the event’ procedure. Let me explain: The conditioner is so thick and intense that while it undoubtedly soothing to the scalp and kind to my hair, it leaves it so soft that I then cannot style it in my preferred manner. The hair and scalp treatment step offers post moisturiser control,but leaves my hair feeling like it has a little too much wiry thickness.Presuming a cumulative benefit from the products that support the cleanser, I am most likely to use them in the evening, so that they can do their work while I sleep. Then the next morning, the cleanser will give me the hair look I want, with the hair itself having been cared for, ready to face the world, and awaiting its next overnight indulgence. Effect on hair wise (and expense wise) I absolutely do not see this as an everyday product. But overall I am impressed, except for one thing…The packaging more than strongly implies ‘and if this doesn’t do the trick, why not go deeper into the Nioxin rabbit hole and follow this three step process with our 3D intensive hair care range’ which makes it seem like there is an over eagerness to exploit the hair based insecurity of people with plenty of money to throw around in search of some final goal of magical hair restoration.Maybe save some of your money for better food and maybe biotin supplements, because once you get to the stage where your has grown as thickly as it will ever grow naturally, the greatest determinant of what grows out of your head is what is going into your mouth. I had that notion insisted upon me by the hairdresser who initially introduced me to Nioxin in the first place. I totally endorse the benefits of Nioxin, but obviously I question just how many steps in the hair care process anyone can be reasonably be expected to literally buy into.

This product has left me speechless!!!1st picture was before, 2nd after first use, 3rd after a month.Starting a new medication caused my hair to fall out which was likely made worse by the fact I dye it and have a medical condition that’s always caused hair loss. Unfortunately coming off of the medication isn’t an option (though obvo no longer dyeing) yet I’ve still noticed a huge improvement with Nioxin!After the first use, my hair was noticeably thicker to the point it hugely lessoned the visibility of the bald patch! Before it was so noticeable, after it wasn’t as clear unless I pulled my hair back.Last picture, it’s hard to see as my baby hairs come through white blonde but hair growth has started!!!You can see that my hair is even thicker which has made the patch appear smaller and now there’s baby hairs in the area that was completely bald before!You do go through the conditioner a little quicker than normal ones as you have to use it all over your head - for the reviews complaining of damaged/dry feeling hair they might not be using conditioner correctly. My hair does feel a little bit straw like when I wash off the shampoo but by the time I’m rinsing the conditioner my hair feels super soft. Also I’ve found any excess leave in treatment crusts up a bit once your hair dries but brushing it through solves this. Overall my hair has never felt healthier!Honestly I cried when I first saw the bald patch and refused to leave my home. I’ve always known that there’d be serious hair loss in my future due to my medical condition, I’m currently only 21 and was hoping I could at least make it through my 20s first. Nioxin has restored that chance to at least make it a little older first. This stuff may seem expensive but honestly for what it does it’s an absolute bargain (though please do not up the price as I couldn’t afford to buy this regularly enough otherwise!!!). Once this current thinning has resolved I’ll be moving onto one of their other systems and plan to use it long term.

Nioxin 3 Part Trial Kit System 1 is a very nice shampoo and conditioner set which is also accompanied by a small bottle of serum. I personally do like the shampoo as it lathers into a very rich application, which when rinsed leaves hair squeaky clean making sure all build up is removed from my usual products.My favourite part of this trio is the conditioner which I leave applied to my towel dried hair for at least 2 - 3 minutes to make sure I receive the best of the hair product.It leaves my scalp tingling and the menthol fragrance leaves my scalp as well as my sinuses clean and clear.I personally did not notice much difference after the first use but the body and volume are created which wasfully noticed evidently in the second use of this excellent brand of shampoo and conditioner.The actual serum is very lightweight and I found it excellent for treating the roots of my thinning hair.Number 1 in this brand of hair products is perfect for hair which has not been chemically treated either by perm solution or colours. I was very interested in using this hair product and I am very pleased to say the trio of products over a regular period of time as a first-class hair treatment package.Happy to recommend.

My friend has Trichomoniasis and swears by Nioxin products, so I went in to using this feeling pretty positive.I think like many of these products it's shrouded with marketing, and to take some of the claims, especially the pictures, with a pinch of salt. However, this does work. Which for a beauty and hair product is enough sometimes, that it's managed to actually cut through the marketing and actually be a viable product that matches it's claims.As someone else said, it does sit a little uneasy with me that it's profiting on hair loss/insecurities and at the price that they are, daily use would be very expensive. However a once-every-few-months use or when you or someone you know is feeling particularly down about their hair,it does work. The technology i'm a little unsure of, but it strips away the build up from other products and it does leave the hair just feeling wonderful, full, soft and amazing quality.It smells very strongly of mint which is great, unexpected for a hair product but not a bad thing!Another odd niggle but worth mentioning, it can be quite hard to get out of the bottle. I would recommend cutting it open when you're nearly done to get the last bits out.

Nioxin provide a good range of products in their 3D range that genuinely work well to help give hair body and hold for styling, while at the same time adding a layer of protection against heating and colouring damage, but their Trial Kits provide a good starter set of products to help already damaged, tired and thinning hair to get back to a healthy condition.This set contains a Nioxin shampoo, conditioner and a scalp and hair treatment for Chemically Treated Hair with Progressed Thinning. On their own the shampoo and conditioners will keep your hair in excellent condition, lather well and have a nice minty fresh scent. I'm less convinced by the effectiveness of any hair treatments,I've tried it and didn't see any noticeable difference, but these things don't happen overnight. I had no adverse reaction however, so will continue to use it to see if it helps.Rather than rely on 'tonics' for the hair however, I would recommend the Nioxin 3D range of products which do provide excellent immediate visible thickening of the hair and add a layer of protection that will keep your hair looking and feeling good.

I've held back on reviewing this for a while because it takes a while to see if a shampoo works. Even then other things need to be factored in such as your natural growth cycle, stress, dietary changes etc. First off, this is for chemically treated hair. I dye my hair with a fairly toxic dye shampoo and sometimes use product in it to give it shape and thickening so I guess my hair is chemically treated. That being said, with the trial kit what you get is three very slim bottles of pricey shampoo, conditioner and foam made in Mexico but you don't need to use much and from day one you should notice a marginal improvement. With repeated use I've noticed the ex-tuft that I could previously see through to the scalp has thickened back into a tuft again.How much of this is due to natural growth I can't say. I'm going to monitor the shampoo carefully and may adjust the above score. Meantime, my hair is really silky smooth but it's an expensive shampoo to get that effect and ultimately perhaps to get the effect I'm getting.

This is a 3 part system for lightly thinning hair that compromises of a shampoo, conditioner and serum. The thinking behind this product appears to be in cleaning out pores to promote growth, maintaining strength of hair with conditioner and then a serum to help thicken the hair.The shampoo lathers up really nicely even with a small amount and the strong menthol leaves the head tingling. The conditioner is nice, though I can't tell the difference between this and similar products. Finally the serum is massaged into the scalp and roots and left in without rinsing. Since I've never used such a product before I have nothing to compare this to, but after a few weeks of use I haven't really noticed any difference.Perhaps by the end of the course of treatment and the bottles I will do.It is expensive for what it is, but if it works by the end of the course then it will have been worth it.

My hair has been thinning a bit as I get older so I was interested to try the Nioxin system. It's three steps - shampoo, conditioner and a hair/scalp 'treatment' - that don't claim to make hair regrow but say that they will improve the condition of your hair and scalp to make hair look fuller and not thin as much in future. This review is for number 6, for chemically treated hair (bleached, permed or straightened) with progressed thinning. I could definitely smell the menthol in the products, but it wasn't unpleasant. It even made my scalp tingle! I haven't been using this for 30 days but I did notice that my hair looked good and felt more full in the week or so I have used the three products.It does make the washing process far more time-intensive! Hopefully with ongoing use the condition will continue to improve and it won't adversely affect the permed hair.

This is the first product of this type I have used so nothing to compare it to but due to long term medication I have to take, my hair is thinning both in quantity and quality. From the first use of this my hair did feel thicker. The conditioner has a distinctive peppermint aroma which also leaves a nice tingly feeling on your scalp.After using it several times now, I would definitely say there is an improvement. Actual hair loss seems about the same at the moment but the hair I have seems fuller and I can style it better.Only downfall is that it is quite expensive and the bottle contents are quite small so I think this may last less than a month and I am not sure that I personally will be spending this sum on a product like this every 3 weeks or so but if you can afford it,it is good and it does appear to work.

I’ve tried a few of the Nioxin range of six treatments for thinning hair, and numbers 5 and 6 are the ones that have been best for me, since my hair is bleached and coloured – and thinner than I would wish. Number 6 is for “progressed” thinning, and number 5 is meant for “light” thinning.All of the Nioxin range are used in the same way, and there isn’t any fuss or difficulty. You get an effective shampoo and a conditioner that leaves your hair smooth. These feel much like any good hair products. The important part is the final scalp treatment which you put on and leave on – no rinsing. After a few uses, my hair was definitely easier to arrange, and seemed springier and stronger, and looked fuller.So if you are concerned about thinning hair, I think this is well worth trying. I mean to go on using Nioxin number 6.

Since I entered my 40s I have noticed that my hair is definitely thinning out. I had very thick hair to begin with so it's not noticeable to anyone else, but it's a definite concern for me. I was keen to try this set of products as they came highly recommended. I am so pleased I gave them a go. Included in the pack is a shampoo, conditioner and spray. The shampoo smells nice and cleanses well. The conditioner smells even nicer and left my scalp with a pleasant tingle. It also left my hair tangle-free and it dried nice and shiny. The spray is used on wet hair - it's sprayed all over the scalp and not rinsed off. After drying and straightening my hair I felt a difference from the very first use of these products.My hair isn't thicker of course, but it looks and feels thicker and I'm delighted!

I’m going to give this four stars. When I was on chemo and lost most of my hair, it was really lovely to use, very soothing and the minty smell was just what I needed as most scents made me nauseous. Now however I am left with thinner hair. I used the shampoo and conditioner and while it still smelled lovely and fresh - really clean smelling - I didn’t feel that the clean feeling lasted quite as long as my usual shampoo between shampoos. However this may have been because I didn’t use the scalp treatment. The bottle said “may cause temporary redness”, and that put me off a little bit. I would definitely recommend the shampoo if you’re having chemo though. My hairdresser recommended it to me,and I really appreciated it as she said it would be safe to use.

What is does not do is engender hair growth but to fair, this is not what the system claims to do. The shampoo itself has an almost menthol smell, whilst the conditioner was lovely and thick in consistency.The system was easy to use and apply and it certainly had positive effects on my hair.
