The D7500 is a DX format digital SLR aimed at enthusiast photographers; the D500 is slightly better in terms of its focussing system, but unless you are trying to photograph lions hunting in the Serengeti or fast sports events, you'll never justify the price premium of Nikon's top DX model. Enthusiasts can forget professional full-frame cameras too, this has a good enough sensor for very large prints and FX cameras require expensive lenses. The D7500 has the image sensor and processor of the D500 but the D7200's body, mode dial and AF system. It also has Bluetooth, WiFi, 4K video and a touchscreen LCD that flips out. Its ability to focus and take decent pictures in poor light is nothing short of amazing, and was one of my biggest gripes with my old D5000.I love the touchscreen focussing. Great for shots with minimal depth of field (think "do I want the petals in focus, or the pollen on the anthers?") - so allows for great creativity. The next good thing is AF fine tune - this is a system that can be used to compensate for irregularities in lenses - my Nikkor 18-200mm suffered from soft focussing on my old D5000, but it wasn't a problem with the lens optics, it was the autofocus compatibility. The D7500 was better "out of the box" with this lens, but with the D7500, I've been able to calibrate the combination for much better sharpness. Finally, the D7500 fully supports the latest Nikkor AF-P lenses; these are set at a cheap price point, but don't be put off. I would recommend spending a little more (than some alternatives) on this D7500 body and saving on some of the lenses (the AF-P 70-300mm f4.5-6.3 can be yours new for less than £150 and it's razor sharp with this body). The AF-P 10-20mm is 30% cheaper than the Sigma 10-20mm and outperforms it, but you'll need a compatible body like this one to benefit from the Nikkor lens.Read full review...

Read the reviews on dpr and other respected websites. It is currently the by consensus best-rated enthusiast DSLR.I love it, stepping up from a slightly outdated D300s. The image quality is great, and even at high ISO of up to 3200 images have great colour and detail. In terms of usability it is a few evolutionary steps from the menus and buttons on my D300s, overall making it a much more slick and up-to-date and user-friendly camera to use. One particular detail I love is the dedicated ISO button on the right top - well done, Nikon. In short: a fabulous DSLR coupling great user interface, top ergonomics, robust build and image quality. As far as I am concerned it ticks the essential boxes for the enthusiast, now available at bargain prices below RRP.

Having owned a D750 and D7200 I was blown away by the image quality, speed of shooting and low light performance. For birds in flight, I particularly need the camera to lock-on to the subject quickly and this obliged me instantly. Light is not always on my side when shooting at 1/2000 sec so the ability to shoot at ISO 6400 without too much "noise" is impressive. To shoot a Black Crow and then a White Gull one after the other and achieve good definition in both is a mark of excellent camera craftsmanship on he part of Nikon (and Tamron of course)I don't need the much more expensive D500 now. This an my tamron 150-600 G2 will do me nicely.

The feel and some controls are similar to my previous Nikon DSLR, so it is easier to learn how to use it. I have only had it for a few weeks and have hardly explored it. I bought it for use with my long lenses and motor racing especially at night.I use a Sony APS-C mirrorless camera most of the time that has a similar specification but does not have good options for long lenses and cannot focus fast enough for motor racing shots, my hit rate on close up shots is about 1 in 3.I am pleased with the D7500 and confident it will take many superb pictures for me, I look forward to optimising the many settings to capture the photos I want..

Build and picture quality are excellent. The camera versatile and is function rich. It is not an easy camera to master simply because it is capable of so much. You can of course use it on full automatic but if you are going to do that you would be better off with a lighter, simpler and cheaper model. An excellent camera for enthusiastic amateurs and aspiring professionals but unless you have experience with similar models make sure you get a good book dedicated to this model or do the Nikon School course. Or both.

This camera is amazing. The image quality is outstanding, the functionality is nice and easy as with all Nikons. You can shoot with a high shutter speed on a grey day and still keep a low ISO, nice quiet shutter, great screen and the camera has a great weight and feel.Mine arrived with a damaged user manual and no security seel but I don't see that being a problem when the price is so good.A must buy camera for the price. Huge saving compares to high street retailers.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. It’s his second camera so this was an upgrade but a lot more technical compared to his old one that still required films! He loves the ‘connect a phone’ feature which makes uploading photos to print off in the photo booths at Boots & Tesco so much easier. After setting up, he used a 64GB memory card and is able to take 4,200 photos. If you’re not sure what you’re doing you press the question mark & it tells you.

Excellent camera, this one came set up in Chinese which was soon rectified the user guide also came in Chinese but as these get binned along with the box it was no problem. Nothing much to add about a superb camera, only having one memory card does not bother me as I have a Nikon D7200 (another excellent camera but not as good as the D7500) which has two but I have never needed the second one, that said I don't do video (yet). Thoroughly recommended.

This is an amazing DSLR. Straight out the box (with a decent lens and memory card) you get get to work straight away. Having the built in special effects and scenes as well as a auto with/without flash and full manual controls is great. The instruction book is quite heavy but there are plenty of u-Tube videos which talk you through the various functions if you'd prefer. I can see why this camera gets such good ratings from various reviewers.

Out of the box the camera is solidly built and feels good in your hand. Attach a lens rotate dial to auto and your ready to go. The online manual is very thorough, but, you can always press the info button bottom left on the back to display what a highlighted item does. Image quality is superb. I am very pleased with this camera.i have progressed to aperture and shutter priority in a week whilst still using auto ISO.

Loving this body as an upgrade, not for a novice though as a first time photographer but ideal as I have upgraded from a Nikon 3200Gutted that there was a large price reduction shortly after my purchase but that’s life.I bought this to add the Nikon 10 - 20 lens which wouldn’t work on my 3200 so at this price lens research is paramount.fantastic body with tons of features.

I bought this camera as an upgrade to my D90 and I'm certainly not disappointed. The images are fabulous and very sharp, thanks to the sensor. Lending it from the D500 and its discribed as its little brother. The D7500 is great for all, enthusiasts to pro's. Its great in low light photography as well, which was the main reason I bought it. It does not disappoint on any level.

My husband bought me this to help me get started in the world of photography and the quality is amazing, even on auto whilst I'm learning about adjusting the iso, aperture and shutter speed! Very nice layout, easy to use and has some great features!! I personally find Nikon easier to use than Cannon and prefer the layout, overall design and features.

Bought this to be the main body for new Nikon 200-500mm lens. Still getting to know all the options of the camera. Good solid feel camera and pictures so far are extremely clear. Hard to say as this is mainly result of lens. I am happy with this body at this excellent price.
