This toy comes in a bright box, containing the blaster, some cars, some targets and obstacles, and an instruction leaflet. It takes a few seconds to unpack, and a couple of minutes to figure out.The concept is simple enough: the blaster pings little cars across the floor, in the direction of targets and obstacles, the idea being to hit targets, score points, and ultimately win a match. Joy of joys, no batteries are required! This which makes this a toy that can be played with endlessly for no extra cost. You know what - it’s actually good fun. Children get the idea straight away, and you don’t have to be good at anything else first to be good at this. It’s a boys’ kind of toy,but I see no reason why girls wouldn’t have fun with it, too. Indeed, a boy and girl do feature equally in the promotion material. It’s all about action, cars bashing into things, and instant win/lose gratification. It works better on a hard floor or smooth driveway. Carpet slows things down somewhat, but mildly sloping ground is no problem for it. The blaster has a kind of safety switch underneath, so it only fires when the blaster is down on a surface. This prevents it from being fired into the air across a room, or at someone. Also, the cars are made of squashy foam, which makes it much safer than it might otherwise be.Overall, this is a good one from Hasbro. It’s a great toy for the money. At £31.80 (October 2017) it’s not cheap, but then it won’t ever need batteries. It has a lot of repeated play value, and would be good for a party (for grown-ups too, I suspect). Big thumbs-up for this one!

As a Granny, I like the idea of children firing foam cars much better than them firing bullets, even if they are pretend. Sadly, all the boys I know like guns and swords (and none of the girls do, funnily enough) so I'm not too sure whether this will be as popular with my grandchildren as the other Nerf guns, but I'm sure this will be safer and friendlier. The toy is recommended for children age 5 and over, but with supervision I think a slightly younger child would enjoy it too. The Nerf gun is 13"x 6" and is fairly robust blue and orangey-red plastic. You load it at the top with one of three different coloured cars and fire into targets and there is a long-jump ramp to really help the cars get lift-off.There aredifferent targets, oil drums and crates and stacks of tyres and also barriers which you have to assemble but they are easy enough. They shoot pop-up discs into the air when hit.I suppose a points system would be best for someone playing by himself--or better still , 2 children with a gun each.Like most popular toy ranges, this is a bit pricey, but it has lots going for it, teaching hand-eye co-ordination and turn-taking whilst having fun.

First of all, let me clear - Nerf Nitro has no connection with the main Nerf gun system; it's a different toy made by the same people.  Basically, it's a gun that fires simple cars and it does it well. The pring loaded action is powerful and the cars come out the barrel at quite a lick. Included in the set are some objects (little plastic barrels etc.) that you can assemble to make a kind of target range or course. My eight year old nephew was satisfied with speed of the gun and ease of use (for example, cars can be loaded in backwards and still fire). However, the gun does jam and we had to take it apart with a screwdriver to unjam it. I'm sure it was 'operator error'but you are going to get those with anything involving kids. Since then, it's been fine, no issues. It's pretty plasticky and brittle feeling but works - standard Nerf quality. It's a simple toy that does what it says on the tin.Be aware you'll get the most of out of this if you have hard floors; to fire the gun you need to push it down until a button on the bottom is depressed, and on carpet that means the barrel digs into the pile, meaning that the cars lose some speed.

Bright and eyecatching design as all Nerf products tend to be; you certainly wouldn't lose them in a crowd being bright orange and blue. You basically load the cars into the blaster and then aim at targets (foam ones that come with the toy). This initially was played with by both my grandson and pre-schooler for several days in a row until the novelty wore off and they moved on to other things. You really need to have plenty of space and a pet free - in our case four curious cats and one curious dog who thinks it's a cat, zone to avoid injury. In that I'd also include older folk's feet as they can also become a target when the foam targets become boring. It's very sturdily made,as you would expect from Nerf and has the feel that it would last quite a while and take some abuse, however, it is a bit of a one trick pony and as stated earlier got sidelined pretty quick, although every now and again I have a maleavolent pre-schooler shooting my feet for target practice.

What a clever idea someone had - take the concept of a Nerf gun but instead apply it to foam cars instead. Much of the fun but without the risk to eyes, cats, furniture etc - still not quite the same, but much easier to give to a younger child. This is a starter set in that it has the 'gun', 3 cars and various ramps, barrels and so on. More cars are available to buy as separate packs. TheLoading slots and cars are designed to really only these cars fit. It did require a bit of assembly - but no batteries. The cars are out in the slot, the gun loaded by pulling back the handles and then the cars fired using the trigger. There is a safety sensor to ensure it's flat in the floor, but this is easily bypassed...They shoot out with a real zip but being soft, the cars are harmless. They roll extremely well on the big wheels as well. All in all a great set for a child who is too young for the guns or is really into their cars.

I finally gave this to my kids at Christmas after it sat in a box for months. Both my girls like toy cars, and they both enjoy shooting some of the larger Nerf guns I've acquired over the years... so the combination of the two seemed like a winner. And it is... the only star getting dropped because of the usual useless accompanying instructions. Once you figure out how the gun works, it's easy to load and fire the cars. The set comes with three cars and a variety of stunt accessories to mess with - a jump, obstacles to be knocked over or which shoot discs when triggered etc. If you have other cars and accessories then you build up an impressive array of trick shots thanks to the power of the gun.The cars travel quite a long way when fired, and my girls have had fun seeing who can launch them furthest and highest.

No complaints with this, no batteries required and they are not included so be warned this will be fun immediately at Christmas. The 'toy' itself is of the usual Nerf plasticy standard the main body in a blue and orange. This also comes with 'soft play' cars nice of them in various colours load them up and they fly across the floor. The fun part is if you line up the obstacles you can the fire the cars up ramps through barrels into boxes and a hoop of fire (OK I lied about the last one) This is great fun for the 50 year old child that I am and seems to be fun for the children when I let the play.Overall nice product but I do wish for the price they would include batteries and for that reason apoint is docked

This provided enjoyment for both younger children and those aged over 50! I could hear howls of laughter as more obstacles made from household items and other toys were built for the foam cars to leap frog over and through. My 53 year old husband pronounced it ‘good fun’.Creative, entertaining and with good play value, my only criticism was the poor written instructions in putting the model together. The pictures provided a better guide as to how this works. I also think if two children are playing side by side, two kits would provide double the entertainment and make this more fun.

This has been a huge hit in our house with everyone! Me, because there is no construction required and it does not need batteries!!My daughter loves it because she is no longer the focus of the other NERF toys in the house. The 2 males (husband and son) are so competitive this has been a massive success at keeping them occupied for hours.Very easy to understand the instructions, easy to set up and use. No fiddly small parts to get lost.Good quality materials and sturdy manufacturing means this should last as well as bulkier NERF products.Well worth the price.

What a great toy! this is good old fashioned fun! No complex electronics to go wrong and NO batteries to buy or keep replacing! This was set up in minutes. If you're struggling, your child will do it in seconds (sorry, but that's probably true, lol). The aim is that soft cars with a rubberised soft texture are fired at speed at objects and over obstacles, to score points. It brings out the competitive side in kids, (especially the BIG kids (like err, 37, 52 and 67 year olds!!).This provides hours of good fun and lots of laughter. Great value! Great fun!!!

This Nerf blaster has been an instant hit with both my husband and 7 year old daughter who spent hours playing with it as soon as they got it. The gun comes with cars that can be loaded into it, as well as targets and obstacles to create a variety of game set ups. The blaster is surprisingly powerful- to the horror of our cat who happened to be in the way of the shooting car! This set is well packaged and will make a perfect present for both children and grown ups.

What a super toy, 7 year old loves it. Sturdy plastic so should take some drops and knocks. Easy to load and fires the cars out with just a simple press. cars come out fairly fast and though made of softish material still likely to sting if anyone, especially a smaller one, to close when 'fired'. Not had any success yet with the tricks but one keeps trying. As I say fairly sturdy so should last the gentle fingers of a child for a few weeks at least :-)

So this is pretty good fun. The Nerf 'launcher' is fairly sturdy, and the cars zip off it with appreciable speed. It's fairly easy to set up, and, importanttly on an Xmas morning, doesn't need batteries! The initial layout is decent, and you can always add other objects as obstacles. The cars strike me as the component mostl likely to break/degrade, but they've been champion so far. There's no blinking lights or complexity, but it's a good laugh.

This was a really good value toy! It’s arrived and it’s very big, looks good size size and has lots of little pieces/accessories! Something for a nerf fan but a little different with it shooting out cars rather than the typical bullets! I’m sure he will love it. It was really good value on Amazon a cheaper than in the shops. Pleased and would recommend.

It took me several minutes to finally manage to 'blast' small cars but once I got it, it was easy to show my kids how the game works. It's a lot of fun without having to worry about dead batteries, as this doesn't require any batteries. Both my son and my daughter are hooked. It's fun and even I enjoyed it as Played with them.
