My daughter loves the Monster High dolls, with their gothic looks and monster accessories they look similar to the “Brats” style figures but have a uniqueness enriched by the tie-in with long-standing monsters such as Werewolves and Vampires. This figure stand out even more because she has 4 legs! This is part of a new range, the cynic in me recognises that this “exciting” new line is an obvious attempt to churn out more dolls alongside the new DVD movie. However, my daughter loves it and at the end of the day I guess that is the true measure of the toy.The doll comes with some basic accessories and hairbrush and diary. The hairbrush is similar to the ones which come with the other figures and the diary is basically a pink and white pamphlet, but my 8 year old daughter enjoyed reading it and making her own entries. The build quality of the figure is pretty good, you can pull bits off if you’re rough but they clip back on easily enough. It is fully articulated and is a nice addition to her monster high collection. The play value is quite limited on its own, but with other dolls you can see how made up scenes and conversations can be fun. I was surprised by the level of detail, these are a premium priced toy and sometimes feel a little cheap, but the clothes and accessories do look quite cool and each Monster High doll manages to look quite distinct despite having a themed look throughout the range. The Monster High ethos of not having to fit in certainly has merits, and I much prefer these to the brainless Barbie toys (the Barbie cartoon is simply awful – every episode I’ve reluctantly witnessed has concerned looking pretty, being rich and craving popularity), though they are perhaps in danger of undermining their message by becoming what they seemed to resist in the first place. In a nutshell: 4 stars from me because this is a great action figure/toy which feels a little over-priced. The box is a weird shape – so if you’re useless at wrapping presents (as I am!), This might be one to hide at the bottom of the pile! It seems popular, but the craze for these dolls means that they can be sold for more than they ought to be.

When I told my 8yo that I was getting her this doll she was in two minds over whether she liked it or not. The design is a bit weird, being a mash-up of horse and monster girl. It's a bit like My Little Pony meets Tim Burton. The story behind the new Freaky Fusion range of dolls is that they're involved in a freak accident when travelling in time and it manages to mix the characters up. It's basically another excuse for a new doll line that ties in with another movie, but there's no harm in that.Physically, though. there's a pretty good level of detail in the doll with the legs having full articulation. Joints at the knee and further up allow for more realistic horse-like poses, though knee joints do seem a little stiff at times. Each leg also has a removable set of buckled pads to make it look more gothic. The arms are equally movable with a nice set of poses, but one hand has already come off at least once. The body itself turns at the waist, though only slightly, due to the clothes.Other accessories include a top hat held on by reigns which can be removed, bracelets and a belt. Finally, the tail and head both have brushable blue hair and a comb is included to brush these. My daughter ended up loving the doll and especially brushing the hair and showing me the different poses that she could create. It's certainly well made and well thought out, not a cheap looking item at all. The only problem is that now she want's more from the series.

Based on characters from the upcoming Monster High Freaky Fusion DVD, this new range of dolls has immediately captured my heart. Each one comes in striking and luxurious looking packaging, and has lots of unique and interesting features.Miss Avea Trotter, a hybrid of centaur and harpy, is a vibrant doll with a purple body and turquoise hair and wings. Her cute outfit includes a lovely satin jacket, a top hat, gloves with frills at the wrists and buckled leg accessories. She also has wonderfully bright and detailed 'feather' eye make up. All the clothes and accessories are well made and it's clear that much attention has been paid to the outfit and overall design. Most of the clothes can be removed if desired, the hair and tail can be brushed with the accompanying skull shaped hairbrush, and the doll can be placed in different positions due to her manipulable joints. The fact that she can stand alone without support makes her look even better when on display. This is a gorgeous and unusual doll that will encourage lots of imaginative play from children. I also love the fact that this range of dolls celebrates individuality, the use of fashion for self expression rather than to attract the opposite sex, and the collaboration of different cultures and heritages. It makes a lovely change from Barbies!I'll be looking out for more in this range, and although they're definitely not cheap, they're certainly something a little bit special.

I was a bit concerned that this latest wave of figures in the Monster High range might be just a sneaky way to recycle body parts of past figures into a new money spinner. That certainly didn't prove to be the case with this doll. Though elements are very much in keeping with the previous ranges, this is very much a new character and an impressive one. The horse part of the body, for instance, is nothing like the horse figure previously issued with the headmistress set; the legs articulate at several points, including posable hooves, and the body shape is much sleeker and more attractive. And I was very much impressed with the detailing on the face, especially round the eyes. The costume is nicely done, with several removable accessories (such as leather puttees for the legs). It's a well-thought-out creation, looks very good, and unlike other figures can actually stand without the usual plastic support. It does not come with anything extra apart from the customary diary (no brushes, purses, pets or the like) but my daughter didn't feel short-changed as the doll itself has more play value than some others in the range and the costume pieces were much easier to remove and replace. It is a little fragile, but certainly as robust as any other Monster High figure. A nice addition to the collection.

Avea Trotter is one of the new Freaky Fusion range from Monster High, falling into the Hybrid category as she is half Harpy, half Centaur. In Greek Mythology most harpies were old crones with the bodies of birds and centaurs were mostly male but Avea must have had very good genes as, although not conventionally pretty, she is strikingly attractive. The attention to detail in these dolls is remarkable from the pinky red checked, cinched in jacket to the contrasting teal shirt, matching teal hair/mane and tail and cute top hat trimmed with pink-red feathers - it's a modern take on equestrian/dressage style. Continuing the harpy/bird theme, she has removable wings - it's easier to move her arms when these are removed. Her skin tone is lilac with a deeper purple colour for the centaur body which is decorated with lilac skullettes.Like the others in the Hybrid range she can stand on her own and can adopt lots of different poses as long as three feet/hooves are on the ground. My 10 year old daughter is thrilled with this new range which has been a breath of fresh air for Monster High. At this competitive price (£19.07 at the time of posting) it would be well worth buying now before they're all sold out for Christmas!

My seven-year-old daughter has been playing with this doll for around a month now and it is without doubt her current favourite. This hybrid doll is a mix between a Harpy (a female monster in the form of a bird with a human face) and a Centaur (a human torso with the body and legs of a horse); the result is a really Gothic-looking quirky toyThe manufacturing quality is better than anything I've seen before in a child's doll; it is superb with great attention to detail, particularly the make-up on her face. The accessories are very good too; my daughter enjoys combing Avea's hair with the Skullette (!) hairbrush. Her four legs are nicely articulated and whilst the joints are a little tight,it does mean Avea stays in positionIt's worth reading the detailed product description where one can zoom in on the images and see what I'm on about. The other aspect of this doll that had my daughter in fits of laughter is the great play on words using humorous horror puns ...gore-geous, wooo-nderful, spook-tacular and so on.My only concern is the Monster High range is enormous; enough to break the bank of most parents!

I wasn't sure about this until I saw it in the, er, plastic.I have to admit that I think she is quite endearing. The lady in question, Avea Trotter, is a centaur - half doll, half horse - a character from Greek mythology and Harry Potter.Thank goodness for that latter link as the small human recipient was looking at it with a great deal of visible doubt. She is quiet interesting, said to be the "hybrid of a centaur and a harpy", she has solid aquamarine "wings" attached to her neck and head. The horse part has multi-jointed legs which from a play and posing point of view, as are her arms. The Monster High series are made by Mattel, the makers of Barbie, and the quality of the doll is as good as you would expect.Avea is now settling into the dolly family after an initial rough welcome and happily takes Barbie's little sisters for rides into the "weird woods" in the hope of meeting more of Ms Trotter's friends. Well I guess Santa will know what to bring down the chimney at Christmas.

This is a fantastically detailed doll that offers countless poses that may be arranged by using the various jointed limbs. The make-up on the face is exquisite, and with the combined body of a Harpy and a Centaur, this doll will fire a child's imagination with some fascinating and engaging role play.A brush is supplied that may be used to groom the doll's hair and tail. The hair is very generous in quantity and lengthy, so it is satisfying to groom. There are accessories, some of which are feathered hat and gaiters, which may be removed, adding more options for the imagination to pursue. The doll can indeed stand on its own and strike some groovy poses that look splendid on a dressing tableor bookcase.I was so fascinated with this doll that it took some strength in me to part with it and allow one of my daughters to add it to her collection. Suffice to say, the doll was snatched away immediately and now features heavily in most of her doll adventures. They have it so good these days!

Avea Trotter is a fantastic addition to the Monster High Doll family. She's every bit as pretty and articulated as all that have come before her but she's just that little bit different. She's a hybrid and a very stylish one at that.I find that bjd's (ball jointed dolls) are so much more fun than regular dolls because of their ability to pose. Posable dolls have a better play value because they seem that little bit more lifelike (ever managed to make Barbie stand without propping her against something?)The Monster High dolls are popular with the online bjd photo-story community as they're easy to customise and I think this hybrid range will give a lot of scope for new story lines.Avea's joints are nice and tight and have held any pose I've put her in so far. She already comes with her own outfit but if you are a MH collector then all the outfits from other dolls will obviously fit too.A lot of fun to play with and a nice addition for a collector.

Granddaughter thinks it wonderful, but personally I think it's weird! This latest doll in the Monster High range is well made with the 'horse' part legs being easily movable and the body, arms, hands and head also easily movable. The doll itself is about a foot high (12inches or if you must, 30cm) and is equipped with blue hair and blue tail, a purple horse body and lilac torso with green wings and, would you believe, a top hat.My granddaughter thinks she is wonderful and loves it and as that is all that matters, I am happy to give it 5 stars.By the way, the box also contains a Monster High diary where Avea Trotter has written a lot about herself and her antics, and there is also a bright yellow hairbrush for her bright blue hair - whoever thinks of these things? Can't wait for the film, 'Monster High: Freaky Fusion" !!!

My eldest daughter doesn't know much about Monster High, but since receiving this toy she has become more interested and shouts out any time an advert comes on TV. She isn't a huge doll fan, although she has her few favourites, and was a little unsure of this when first given, but after I made up a few stories about what Avia got up to, galloping around at night and changing her outfits for different parties etc, she began to warm to it.The doll is much bigger and more sturdy than I expected. Accessory wise, it comes with everything a centaur pre-teen needs, including diary and hairbrush. I don't know if we'll buy any more of these, but it has found a place amongst the various Lego and Happyland figures, towering above them and acting as a guard and sometimes taking them for a trot around the living room.

Having little girls around the house on a regular basis means having to keep them occupied. Monster High dolls seem to really appeal to them. The latest in the series includes the Hybrid Avea Trotter who is half Centaur and half Harpy.Beautifully sculpted and great on detail with the hair, make-up and clothing. I'm not 100% a fan but the kids seem to really love them. I like the teal shade of her hair and colour and styling of clothes. They have so many dolls in the series that these Hybrid MH seem to be the new favourite dolls to have.Well made and attractively boxed. And as this doll has four legs she doesn't need a stand.Fun but a bit scary for me.The two five year old love them to bits!

Another MH doll, and another hit with my girls. This ones from the Freaky Fusion film, and since they hadn't seen it in any stores yet my girls were very happy to get it. You'll know whether your kids will like this - either they like Monster High and spooky stuff in general, or they don't. The doll itself is slightly larger than most of the existing MH dolls because it's a centaur, and it stands up a bit more easily because of the additional legs, which is always handy.

I had previously not heard of this, or seen one before.First impressions - really weird looking, a little freaky as the title suggests. However once you get to the toy, it is a well made item. The joints move nicely and the whole thing has a feel of quality. Even the weird look of this has started to finally grow on me!It is all very detailed, feels nice, and would be loved by any child.
